Poly+ ACOTAR Week - Day 3 Secrets (Feyre/Tamlin/Rhysand) @polyacotarweek
I'm weak for 'two enemies put aside their differences coz they love me more than they hate each other' trope and I was somewhat sad that's not where Feyre's love life went. Just think of the possibilities.

cannot stop thinking about tamlin and lucien trying to figure out if feyre was single bc if she wasn’t that would’ve been less than ideal.
Tumblr media
The looks they keep giving each other 😭i just know they were freaking the fuck out for a second there.and feyre being so confused as to why these ancient faeries are inquiring about her love life and looking so nervous while doing it makes this scene so much funnier .
another moment i cannot stop thinking about from book 1 is tamlin trying to compliment feyre and we see lucien 🗣️⁉️nodding to tamlin encouragingly to keep going 🗣️⁉️lucien being tamlins wingman and giving him flirting tips and date ideas is very real to me.
Tumblr media
this friendship is all i can think about unfortunately.

I have a few big projects I’ve been working on that I’m not quite ready to share yet, so have a quick feysand sketch I did this evening.
Bonus points if you can guess which movie their pose is based on!! 👀

honestly the debate about whether feyre was qualified or not to be high lady wouldn't be such a big deal if the story stopped trying to frame her as the best at everything. it's ok if the only reason she is initially made high lady was to make her rhys' equal in the sense that he does not hold more power over her, and technically, legally, cannot command her, or force her to do anything. she's his mate, so he feels comfortable doing that very early on into the relationship. it's a statement of his love and trust of her, or rather, his respect of her as her own person. but as @ofbreathandflame elaborates on here, it doesn't actually say anything about feyre herself, and to claim that she has done something to earn being high lady causes problems and conflict, because, well, she didn't. she didn't earn the title at all. there are qualities she possesses that may give her the potential to be a good leader, but she is not there already.
and then of course there's the problem that even if the story focused on rhys 'making feyre his equal', there's still confusion, because she fundamentally is not his equal. and it's never elaborated on because sjm can't without highlighting the contradictory nature of it all, but rhys did not arbitrarily become high lord because he earned the support and was sworn in. it's not clear when a high lord begins his reign officially, but it's implied that it starts when the magic 'chooses' them. the magic chose rhys, not feyre, and that fact will always mean that he holds some level of power over her. and that's a whole other topic with no real solution, but i don't think it would be as much as a problem if the story didn't try so hard to insist that that dynamic did not exist at all.
and to be clear im not trying to criticise or shit on feyre, this is more in defense of her than anything. girl deserves better than being lied to.

Night Court Shenanigans
*standing on top of a mountain*
Cassian: *looking down* How long do you think I could freefall without dying?
Azriel: That’s the type of question that will get you killed.
Rhysand: at least a minute. Longer than a minute if you’re not a coward.

Imagine a white dress. long and flowy. Floor length with a minimalistic corset. A small tightly curled up buds of flowers and dying vines wrapped around it. Barely there, just noticeable against the pure white fabric.
Then when Spring Magic is released, it blooms, the buds unfurl, the vines come back to life, the dress is spilling into the earth itself, as it moves little petals of light are floating away from it. The flowers are curling up into the hair of the wearer. The greenery, the reds, the blues, the yellows, the purples, they are spilling down the side of the dress, and curling over the fabric like fungi creeping over fallen wood.
Yeah, this is the kind of fashion I think is in the Spring.
Then a suit to match. A large floor length jacket weaved from vines and leaves and flowering petals, that shimmers with magic. The shirt is weaved from spider's silk. Decorated with lines of raw, uncut gemstones.
Feylin rocking up to the High lord's meeting in this getup is way better than anything the Night Court could have ever done. Rhysand can keep his half-assed sparkly rags, I want this shit.

Will I ever stop being pissed at the fact that SJM put more blame on Nesta and Elain than she did the dad when it came to Feyre? No probably not,
Will I ever get over the fact that she gave the father a redemption arc without really acknowledging the hurt he caused his family? Also probably no.

I strongly disagree with any sentiment that Feyre destroying the spring court was rash, out of line, or poorly thought out. Everything in the text prior to Tamlin's tantrum during the HLs meeting points to destroying the spring court being the best move to ensure the safety of Prythian. Tamlin had made a bargain with Hybern so powerful that if he had attempted to go against it his powers as High Lord and entire court would have been forfeit, Feyre checks to make sure this is true and even consults Lucien on it before going through with her plans. Making it so that Hybern did not have access to spring court support was essential seeing as there was no real way for Tamlin to outwardly go against Hybern. His actions caused the wall to fall and many many innocent humans to die. Perhaps they could have used the Spring Courts army in the war, yes, but how would they have even used it if Tamlin can't go against Hybern without losing the spring court entirely? Tamlin's actions caused the wall to fall, the deaths of many many humans, entire towns of his people in the west to have to pack up and leave, and the attack on Adriata.
Feyre didn't open his court up to Hybern. He did. Destroying the spring court was necessary. Not to mention there's zero evidence beyond assumption that Feyre's actions caused the death of spring court civillians but there is evidence of Tamlin's actions causing the death of civillians.

Especially with the whole (I’m still reading them so I don’t fully know/no spoilers plz) Aelin Galathynius thing… heck even other Maasverse Series with ACOTAR & Feyre!
… not me turning Willow into a bunch of fan edit inspo for these books becoming cinema… IT JUST VIBES OKAY?!

“Ah. The Suriel told you nothing important, did it?” That smile of his sparked something bold in my chest. “He also said that you like being brushed, and if I’m a clever girl, I might train you with treats.” Tamlin tipped his head to the sky and roared with laughter. Despite myself, I let out a soft laugh. “I might die of surprise,” Lucien said behind me. “You made a joke, Feyre.” I turned to look at him with a cool smile. “You don’t want to know what the Suriel said about you.” I flicked my brows up, and Lucien lifted his hands in defeat. “I’d pay good money to hear what the Suriel thinks of Lucien,” Tamlin said.
A moodboard for the iconic trio of Tamlin, Lucien, and Feyre! Their friendship in ACOTAR was so fun and sweet, I could read an entire series of the three of them just fucking around together.
