Industrial visits serve as an excellent platform to learn for students pursuing higher education which helps in bridging the gap between mere classroom learning and the actual work conditions. To bridge the gap Mangalmay Institute of Management and Technology, Greater Noida scheduled an Industrial visit to Mother Diary, Delhi for the BBA first semester students on 27th September, 2022.  Students find the industrial visit highly relevant in enhancing their knowledge and having practical exposure.

The first semester's assignment was to take a childhood toy and turn it into a graphic composition. Melina's basis was a rather ugly children's keyboard that plays electronic animal sounds. She reconstructed the object in colors, shapes and structures and combined these colorful compositions from this construction kit, in which we can always discover new animals.

Nursing School: first semester

This fall went by fast, too fast. My instructors had given me reading assignments (15 chapters in total) to read before the first day. They assigned them the week before our first day.

Our first test was 2 weeks exactly after our first day of class, over 10 of those assigned chapters.

We started learning hands on skills the first week of lab! and we also started our deliberate practice hours (around 6 hours outside of class and lab that were mandatory for us to attend)

We had 6 tests in October, 2 per class, and it was a hailstorm of information packing and studying. However, with much coffee and my amazing roommate, also a nursing student, I managed to make it through.

things slowed down in November, as I made a perfect score on my dosage calc exam (mandatory to make a 90 or 100 within 2 tries) and over 900 on my first HESI attempt!

The biggest bump in the road for me was health assessment and the performance checkoffs. I'm easily nervous and we were required to memorize the examination process and what questions to ask/tests to perform, with no pen or paper in the room. Everything (up to about 30 different check off questions) had to be recited and performed from memory. As a visual learner and someone who has to have paper in front of me to visualize important info, this was a struggle that I'm proud to have overcome.

The final competency check off for the semester was also nerve-wracking, as it was a med dosage calc and subsequent med admin, and a random skill (mine was a Foley catheter), within 20 minutes in the simulation lab, with my instructor following along via camera. I was shaking at first, but I got through it!

Throughout all of this, I was maintaining two part time jobs, both on campus, about 20 hours a week.

Thanks to friends, family, classmates, and professors, I made it! Now, to tackle next semester, with pharmacology, med-surg I, and mental health nursing, as well as two clinical days each week.
