“Said my lord to my lady as he mounted his horse, Beware of Long Lankin that lives in the moss.” . . So i just finished this and I don’t know how to feel about it. I really liked it. Like in a “I want to know what’s happening” sort of way. But it was also really slow. And like we didn’t even see Long Lankin until about halfway through - page 200something. . . I really liked the atmosphere and world - a post WWII England. And the folklore and small town creepiness that fills the pages. And it kept my attention from start to finish but like, 🤷🏼‍♀️ . . 3.5 ⭐️ . . I finished The Starless Sea by @erinmorgenstern before the end of the year! I also finished my December @foxandwit challenge. To top that I read all six book prompts all 12 months. I feel so accomplished. This poster cover makes so much more sense now that I’ve read the book. I really liked what the artist did. This was my favorite story in the whole book. I can’t believe today is the last day of 2019. This year had exciting moments and quite terrible ones. I’m glad to start a new year. It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye to the previous year. QOTD: Do you have any fun plans tonight? We plan on staying in and eating Carne Asada and having Champagne. We will probably watch the Witcher. Life is a strange mixture of all these genres, and it doesn't have nearly as neat and happy ending as you often get in books. - As Old As Time by Liz Braswell ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ Finished my second book in the Disney Twisted Tales. Beauty and the Beast was always a favorite of mine, as I'm sure it is for most readers. The Twisted Tales continue to entertain, having all of the big moments from the original stories, but with more, or twisted details. Belle's mother is a huge addition to this story, and Maurice is a much better character in this telling! I started this book over the summer, but could not seem to focus on it. I set it aside to come back to later. I decided to try the audiobook version and it made it so much easier! I've decided that because I am so unfamiliar with the culture, which is richly described in this book, I was fixating on small things and not able to fall into it. Audiobook forced me to think bigger picture. You want to pretend this never happened? I’m not sure I can, but if it’s what you want I’ll try. - Blissfully Snowbound by Red Phoenix ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ Picked this as my book with a winter word in the title, ended up reading the larger book that it belongs in, Blissfully Undone, too. Snowbound was good, Undone was a little eh. The antagonist, Kelly, felt way too over the top.
