Why I’m too scared to let people in anymore

For so many years I’ve been vulnerable. I’m a really emotional person. I’m very sensitive and every time something has knocked me down I’ve been building a shell around me. Why do I not have many friends? It’s not because I can’t hold a good conversation or that I’m a person no one wants to be around. It’s because I’m very picky. There’s a lot of things that have gone wrong in the friendships I’ve had and they all seem to dissapear over time. Ofcourse there’s the ones that you can speak to every now and again, have a quick catch up on how you’ve both been doing. But you’ll never see me with many friends. And that’s just because I’ve been hurt too much to know that not everyone will make a good friend. Sometimes not even being choosy works. Sometimes the people I pick as close friends still turn out to be not good friends at all. And that’s why now I’d say I have 1 close friend. He’ll know who he is reading this....hi 😂

I’m really scared. I’m scared that another bad thing will come along again. And every time that happens I sink into a pit that I don’t want to come out of.

There was this one person. He meant the world to me and I thought we’d be in each others lives forever. Unfortunately it didn’t end as we expected. Certainly not what I expected. I’ve made the mistake so many times before of carrying on with something that just isn’t working just with the hope things will go back to how they were. They never ended well. Which is why this time I didn’t even take that chance. Id learned by that point to go with my gut from now on, so that’s what I did. No matter how much it hurt me or the other person, in the long run it would be better for both of us.

Now that’s over with Ive built quite a high wall around my heart. I’ve just learned to always trust my instincts. So my advice would be to trust yours. In any situation just trusts your instincts. You’ll know if something isn’t right.
