food labels
best used by (the date) - it shows when it’s the best time to taste the freshness of the food, hence you can consume it after the date passes
used by (the date) - you’d rather not consume it past the date… 💀
companies use those dates to make you taste the food at peak of tastefulness, so you come back later and buy more…
I made myself some pudding (from pudding powder) which was past the date (delish), survived ✔️
Ingested chocolate past the date. survived ✔️
and more i guess
HOWEVER it depends on the type of food you wanna eat.
I barely bited a piece of mozzarella cheese which was labeled “used by (the date)” exactly on this date and it was downright disgusting.
use your senses to check the food’s edibility, honey!

90% Peanuts! Amazing!
I get the feeling this is less promotional copy, and more "Governmentally Required Labeling."
Not to take this to an extreme comparison, but for comparison, at a genetic level, humans share 90% of their DNA with mice AND elephants. That last 10% really makes a difference.

I'm actually super annoyed by this. Diabetes is a super common disease. You would think it would be marketed for. Like someone claimed to be sensitive to gluten once and everything for the next five years was low gluten and had exactly how much gluten was on every food label. For fucks sake, when I was a kid: every damn thing at the grocery store had how many Weight Watchers points it was worth printed right on the front of the packaging. And that was just a fad diet, not an actual disease that's in the top 5 diseases in this country. It has to be a capitalism problem, like making things diabetic friendly is too expensive to be profitable or something. Most restaurants off vegan options on the menu, but you have to either buy a special book or Google everything on the menu to see if it's gonna make me crash later.

Wtf does “natural flavours” mean?
I keep having allergic reactions and the only common denominator is “natural flavours” but it doesn’t always get me just on certain items. I can’t stop exposing myself to an allergens if I don’t know what they are and “natural flavours” is super vague.

There seems to be a lot of debate on packaging and how accurate these labels are, and it had to take departments from the government to revise these rules just so that we can get it properly.

Coca-Cola is one of the more well-known brands in the country and all over the world. With its signature font for their coca-cola and with the alternative name present within the packaging of the bottle and even to the recognizable red anyone could identify. That said the company follows the first 2 requirements for the Revised labeling and pre-packaging rules. For the ingredients list, Coke does show the ingredients on the back, all of the components even the safe to consume compounds, however, added water or such is not included in the list, it is to be noted that Coke does say that the drink has natural flavoring which follows the rules.
The bottle includes all of the measurements on how much (in volume) does the bottle contain. There is also the presence of the specific address of the manufacturer and because soda is not really sensitive to temperature unless the person drinking is sensitive. For this soda, I am not certain as to where the expiry date or best before date is found, but there is a date tagged in the bottle that indicates a date which I assumed is the best before. However, it should be printed on the label itself and not near the bottleneck that is not clearly seen or a place people would look.
Despite sodas being tagged as junk food, they still do have nutritional facts and Coke does have one in its packaging. The nutritional facts if I am honest do look similar to the ones from the guide of the Revised labeling and pre-packaging rules. Coke zero to be specific does show in their labeling the zero sugar, no calories claim. If there is a possibility that it is true there is no indication of substitutes or any other compound that allows for similar taste to the soda without all the added sugar and calories. That said, you can only fit so much in a soda bottle but information such as reminding people that the bottle should be recycled which responds to their service component for the environment is an added touch that reminds people of what type of trash and packaging it is after use. It is also indicated in the  bottle that there are 0 calories in every 240ml class which according to them is the recommended serving size.
The soda in itself is delicious, it’s a great way to quench a sweet tooth craving without having the sugar and it’s easily accessible to everyone despite the price increase due to the tariff, there is still a large following for the brand and this is where you can see that despite there being flaws to the packaging the image and reputation that the brand has overcomes all things.

Some Japanese yōkai coffee labels done for Nishimuki!
This brief was so fun! Kappa are found in rivers and akaname thrive in dirty, cluttered areas of houses licking grime off things. So best to keep our rivers clean and our homes a little less clean to give these beings space to live!
Can confirm the coffee is delicious too <3
