Blocking every former and supposedly on the fence Buddie shipper who feels the need to tag Buddie on their posts where they claim to want Buddie to happen so badly or are in a dilemma about it going canon, because they’ve, “Seen the toxicity in the fandom and can’t take it anymore.”

Bullshit. They’re making up excuses to jump ship, when it’s really not necessary.

If you don’t want to ship Buddie, don’t ship them. It’s not against the law. It won’t get you excommunicated from the 911 fandom either, but it will make you look like a fool for acting like: 1) you didn’t know there were toxic fans in the fandom to begin with — as there are in all fandoms, or 2) there aren’t any toxic fans among the BuckTommy fandom.

You can’t claim to be tired of toxic Buddies for saying BT is bland or lack chemistry or LFJ is ugly or whatever else, when there are BT shippers saying the same exact things about Buddie and RG. Both sides have toxic fans, the only difference is that BT shippers currently have canon on their side, so those of you jumping ship are able to feel more validated in leaving.

Fans wanted Buck to be queer for nearly as long as the show has been out, and not once has anyone really shipped him with other people. Josh here and there, Connor occasionally, and that one prophet who wrote about him and Tommy. But majorly, it’s been Eddie. As such, toxic fans have been toxic when it came to any and every relationship either of them were in, so what makes Tommy any different? Did y’all really expect all the toxic fans to be happy with yet another love interest they weren’t looking forward to?

Not only that, but again, there are also toxic BT shippers, and fun fact! They didn’t pop up out of nowhere nor were they born out of defense of Buck and Tommy’s extremely new coupling.

I promise you, those same people were die hard Buddie shippers waiting with bated breath for Buck or Eddie to kiss each other or a man in general. They got it with Buck, so now they feel the need to belittle everything that came before in hopes that Tommy won’t be written out. They don’t care about character development or chemistry or Buck as an actual character either, proven by the many many posts across Tumblr, Twitter, and Tik Tok framing them as in love and smitten.

Claiming Eddie doesn’t mean anything to Buck. Claiming Tommy was a knight in shining armor. Claiming (and this is truly the fault of lazy writing and Tim and co trying to give themselves an out for under developing BT) Buck not talking about Tommy is a sign of happiness.

BT is sexual attraction first and foremost, and that’s all we know. Which is fine, I’ve said before, s8 will hopefully expand on them and their relationship if that’s the plan, but until then, there’s nothing there. Meaning there is nothing about the ship to defend the way some of their fans are doing, but somehow that’s more acceptable than Buddie fans defending Buddie? Sure.

Point is, if you’re jumping ship, go ahead. You don’t need to explain or more aptly worded, lie about why. Toxic fans exist on both sides. Most of you would just rather deal with the ones on the canon side of things, because it helps you feel better. Less embarrassed or anxious, maybe? I don’t know, because regardless of if Buddie ever goes canon, they’re not real, and there is no reason to feel anything if it turns out their shippers were wrong.

But I have to ask, what’s going to happen if BT does end? What will be the excuses for all the trash talking and belittlement of years worth of theories? What will y’all say to rectify putting one toxic group on a pedestal over the other? Because that’s what’s happening. BT shippers are being given full clearance to act like shit to people simply because their ship is canon, so what happens if that changes? What happens if Buddie does go canon? Where will all the high and mighty attitudes go?

bucktommy costume analysis 👔

hi ! i'm a fashion student and am really interested in costume design so i wanted to do a (long) post on tommy's style and how i think buck might be influenced by it in s8 as seen in "buck's britches." :))

[about tommy]

tommy's wardrobe is entirely functional and indicative of his dedication to his work. it's practical, useful, and speaks of his can-do attitude.

all his signature clothes (henleys, shackets, canvas jackets) have historical traces to being used as workwear.

(1) henleys - this one, ironically in the philippines it has its own term in our local language. it's called a camisa de chino and is used by laborers. although i live in a different country, i'm sure its use case is still the same for other countries as it's historically deemed the workman's undergarment.

also: yes. tommy is technically right. there were henleys in the 80s. even in the 1880s. so what we're learning here now folks, is that he's a smartass little shit.

(2) shackets - historically, also an item used by the working class. they were mostly worn to prevent any possible stains on inner clothes from their work (i.e. dirt, grease, grime, etc.)

(3) canvas jacket - although this was only seen in 7x04, it's more likely that he still owns a lot more. (waxed) canvas jackets are traditional workwear often used as weatherproof outerwear or heavy duty rainwear.

as a form of fun speculation, i'd like to think some of these items are also in his closet:

overalls, but only for when he fixes up the car

if anything, who better to listen to when talking about tommy's clothes than tommy himself !

now to the "buck's britches" post. two notable items of clothing:

the famous flight jacket

baker pants.

now here's the thing about buck:

buck doesn't wear utilitarian clothing. in fact, he doesn't wear woven clothing all that much. he wears knit. knit polos. sweaters. hoodies. he is not a workwear person. in fact: he's a comfort person.

that's his primary reason for style that's a testament to his own character. buck is widely recognized as the more radiant and funny character. he has charisma and is very inviting, which is accompanied by his choice in clothing.

soft, warm, comfortable.

which goes back to the photo ostark posted on his instagram story.

(1) flight jacket - here's where i have to go and burst everyone's bubble for a bit. this is only a flight jacket because it's labelled as such. but categorically, it isn't. flight jackets are the classic term for bomber jackets.

bomber jackets (and flight jackets) were workwear used by the military, characterized by garterized cuffs and hems and short bodices. for pilots, they were interchangeable. but modernly, they have some more definable features.

characteristically, flight (or aviator) jackets are leather with shearling or sherpa collars. bomber jackets are the modernized version taking the silhouette and cuff designs and making them more accessible through material choice (linen—like buck—nylon, silk)

(2) baker pants - as the name suggests, it's a piece of kitchen workwear often in twill (which i'd assume is what oliver is wearing), denim, cotton or linen. it's characterized by the topstitching to outline the pockets and diagonal pocket openings (vs. the usual curve).

so very evidently: buck has been influenced by tommy's style. he's wearing woven material versus knit for one. if i were hopeful, i'd say they're exploring one another's style because they're sharing a closet.

[character analysis]

woven fabric as a material is sturdy. it's more structured and does not stretch. think: cotton, linen, rayon, wool, denim. what this means for buck is that, by virtue of being tommy's boyfriend he is introduced to structure, groundedness and maturity.

tommy's closet is filled with utilitarian clothing and workwear. he, as a character, is known to be emotionally grounded and mature and it translates to his clothing.

buck adapting the defining features of his wardrobe shows how much tommy has helped him get off his hamster wheel.

in fact, even the inverse can be noted. when buck asks for a second chance and practices communication towards tommy. he's wearing a woven buttondown. and in emphasizing tommy's desire to make buck comfortable, he's in a hoodie. neither of which are common for one another.

buck and tommy, even through subtle clothing choices are becoming part of one another's world and that makes me so soft as someone whose love language is fashion.

perhaps maybe we could see tommy in a fully casual sweat set? i know that they might be protecting lfjr but man. if i see a hoodie on him. (nqueso, if you can sneak me a photo of him in knitwear ill love you forever i just want to prove my theory right i wont even post it)

if they are putting buck in this sort of attire, my guess (or hope) is that they have tommy ease up too.

it would be nice to show buck's effect on tommy as much as tommy's effect on buck because tommy's an established character and has a backstory that the writers could explore.

so if the 9-1-1 costume designers ever see this:

please put tommy in a sweat set. or a hoodie. (not a zip-up one, im talking real hoodie). i'm willing to compromise with overalls. i see what you're doing with buck's wardrobe, and love it. maybe tommy's could soften up too :))

Let’s not spread false information - it’s never been said it WAS supposed to be Tommy & Eddie. It was said it was a possibility, not a guarantee, but it quickly fell through.

Then Tim revisited the idea of bisexual Buck that got shot down (by Fox, I assume cause, well, Fox) and he then made the effort to specifically get Lou, because he is fond of him and yes there would be no need to introduce a brand new character and thus Tim started writing his lil romcom as he calls it.

Well if you wanna get technical let's get technical...

Tim Minear confirmed that he wanted Lucy in the very beginning but since Arielle was not available THAT LEFT TOMMY. So no, he didn't get Tommy because he was revisiting the idea of bi Buck. It was the other way around. BECAUSE Lou was available and Arielle wasn't, Tim decided to revisit the idea he had had during s4.

So no... He didn't make the effort. Lou just was available and Tim didn't want to introduce a new character to explore Buck's sexuality and therefore Tommy

They even let us know in the show that Hen requested for Lucy and Tommy just happened to be there

And then he had to choose... Ryan himself confirmed during my previously mentioned podcast interview that he didn't know to which one of them that storyline was gonna go so yes it was a "possibility" but it went to Buck because Tim (and maybe Ryan) didn't believe that it was a storyline that fit Eddie so Tim went to Oliver instead. Oliver also confirmed that he was approached with the Tommy idea in the early days of preparing either eps 2 or 3 so it was something that was decided as they were filming so Tommy definitely wasn't the original plan

It was ALSO confirmed yes that the main reason Tommy was chosen to be Buck's first male love interest is because Tim didn't want to introduce a new character which doesn't go into bt favor since Tommy's place could literally be filled by any other man

So yes Tim chose him but trust me when I say he's no Endgame. Especially after all the trouble bt have been causing. Tim called it an entry relationship and yes Tommy is important to Buck because he's his first boyfriend. But there are no wedding bells in the horizon...

ALSO LET ME ADD! Thanks to the lovely @/fiooredimaggioo on Twitter that Buck was supposed to have a big storyline involving Natalia and their break up that was gonna go throughout s7 but because Natalia's actress wasn't available this was scrapped

And as we've been able to see in canon... there is nothing tender and positive about their relationship because Tommy doesn't actually listen to Buck or understand him. So yes... bucktommy is canon now but with the way he's been excluded from every promo/bts/content since they started filming (even though we all know he's coming back) well that doesn't sound good, does it???

AND because I'm petty I'm gonna add this. During the days previous to S7 Tim kept posting buddie stills on his Facebook account (the first one he ever posted was of Eddie himself)

Clearly you can tell Tim has a favorite right??? And I shouldn't even bring up the first still of s8 he posted just a couple of days ago...

Oliver liked a couple of bucktommy posts yes but after 7x04 he never liked a bucktommy post again and just kept liking and posting buddie content

And to finalize...

The ONLY post he liked post 7x10 was a buddie one so... if Oliver himself had to choose Buck's Endgame well the choice is pretty clear

My beloved Bucktommies, hear me out for I have rambled about some important stuff ahead related to Tommy's comeback situation for S8:

Let's not forget that the Access Hollywood interview with Lou Ferrigno Jr. and Oliver Stark would never have been arranged if Buck and Tommy's love story wasn't meant to be long-term, or continue developing further into the next season. It was a small but still a very crucial piece of press.

Why? Because it's not like it was done right after 7x04 when the hype around bi-Buck was at its peak. Instead, it was done during the second-half of the season, that too when the Bobby-focused episodes were airing. Plus, it was a major TV network interview, not some random podcast/youtube interview!

Also, they could have only had Oliver out there if the showrunner or PR team thought Lou as Tommy was inconsequential to this storyline. They evidently wanted to create buzz not only around Buck's bisexual arc but around his romance with Tommy as well, with this press. Why do all of that if the character was going to disappear shortly?

I am not clear about how it all works but I am sure Tim and his team must have discussed Tommy's future when they decided to extend Lou's contract beyond the pre-decided 4 episode appearances last season. Because why even bother showing that tiny dinner scene with Tevan in the finale if they didn't want to show us where the relationship stood?

And don't let the naysayers get into your head and compare this with the happy Buck-Natalia scene from the season 6 finale and how she was written off after that. Remember that the writers supposedly wrote that episode as a possible series finale given the uncertainty around the show's future after Fox cancelled it. But then ABC picked it up and the writers had to resume the storylines from where they had left them off.

The actress playing Natalia refused to come back, probably because I am assuming she thought her part was done and the show was supposed to end and so she took up other work. Plus there was the whole strike thing too in between. She was just a supporting character and her contract extension may not have been under consideration while they were filming season 6, because they didn't know for sure at the time if another network would renew them for a new season. And because of her refusal they had to scrap that storyline later.

The situation is quite different with Lou. The season 8 renewal announcement came early when the first-half of season 7 was on air. Therefore, Tim and the writers have had the luxury to put some plans in place for the upcoming season in advance because the renewal was official. And this must include whether or not they wanted to keep Tommy around post season 7!

And if Lou agreed to do 2 more episodes last season, I believe he must have agreed to be there for season 8 too — because if the last two episodes of S7 have served any purpose, it has been to tell us that Buck and Tommy are going strong and even the firefam approves of their relationship, deliberately cementing their relationship status as they move forward into the upcoming season.

So this can't have been all for nothing. The only reason Tommy wouldn't be in S8 is if Lou himself declined or if the filming dates were clashing with his other projects, none of which seems to be likely given the points I have discussed above. Besides, we all know how deeply invested Lou is in playing Tommy and passionate about his storyline with Buck. He wouldn't quit a role that's clearly so important and dear to him just because of the BoBs' stupid vendetta against him; he has big dreams for his career to let this childish hate towards him get in the way of a good opportunity. And he knows and sees how much we as his fans love, support, and appreciate him!

So to conclude, I have faith Tommy will be back! He has to be!!! 💫

You’re taking BTS pictures of the cast hanging out on set, literally not even in character, and spinning stories about “oh, Tommy isn’t even interested in Buck, look how far apart they are” and “Buck and Eddie touching shoulders again — Buddie canon S8”. I don’t know how many times y’all need to be fucking told before it sinks in, but I swear to God, if you don’t open your ears and listen for once instead of only hearing what you wanna hear? presumably they're going to be wrapped up in the gerrard drama and I'm very curious how they'll write tommy's reaction to him being back in charge of the 118. especially wondering if they’ll bring the stuff with his dad back in or if they’ll leave that as a seed for another time.

imo some kind of conflict is inevitable (+ good long term). I wouldn't be surprised if we see tommy project some of his own problems/struggles onto buck. not necessarily because he assumes buck's relationship with his sexuality is the same as his, but out of a desire to protect him from the bad experiences he had, possibly at the expense of tommy's own emotions.

I also do not trust the writers to not use that helicopter to their full advantage. Sooner or later that thing is gonna crash hard.

just please give me some good hurt/comfort. emotional, physical I don’t care. I need to see those men cry.

Now that we're exactly a month away, what are your expectations for s8?

From the hubbub behind the scenes i think we can expect a few things regarding buck and tommy:

217 + 118 interacting in front of their engines in the hangar before driving off to meet the major incident at the airport, likely a plane that's about to crash-land (8x01 or 8x02)

bucktommy date night at the Italian restaurant where they had their first date

scenes at tommy's little house

tommy in his flightsuit

fancy-ish attire for either a date or 118 event, possibly belated madney backyard wedding reception

hurt!tommy

in terms of things i want for bucktommy, meaning: what would make sense not only for their characters and relationship but to be on par with what we've seen from other couples in the show:

working together on calls.

more kisses.

pda both lowkey and flirty.

some kind of sex scene, whether it's a foreplay kiss on the couch or in bed, or post-coital cuddles.

buck referencing his relationship with tommy and explicitly saying 'boyfriend'.

buck embracing/exploring his bisexuality (and saying 'bisexual'!) ie. conversations with tommy and hen, going to a queer club or event, or at least spouting facts featuring queer people and subjects through history.

harbor characters, and tommy's friends.

some kind of tension/worry/drama; whether it's about tommy being hurt, something relating to gerrard, something in tommy's life, etc.

tommy being vulnerable/emotional, especially with buck.

tommy spending time with other members of the extended 118 fam.

taking the next step ie. I Love Yous, keys to each other's places, possibly buck moving in with tommy (goodbye to the loft?).

in terms of everyone else, we don't really have much to go on, but i have some wishlist items inspired by bts intel:

eddie back in therapy, pushing people away but hopefully having an outlet ie. muay thai with tommy, running, dirtbiking, pottery class, volleyball, whatever.

eddie's moustache sticking around for at least a few episodes, hopefully until about midseason. its going to have some kind of narrative purpose that needs to be resolved before it's gone.

bathena building their new home. her ex is an architect and they're finally over that last trauma hurdle that now is the perfect time to build something new and lasting for them.

chris' return in the second half of the season. eddie will probably visit him in texas but i hope chris will return before the end of the season. but maybe the season will end with eddie moving to texas (temporarily).

eddie's sisters would be great.

henren going through it but ultimately getting to adopt mara.

ortiz gets dethroned. gerrard gets fired for good or dead.

madney second baby would be great, or at least a pet of some kind.

i have no idea about ravi because he was barely in season 7 and it seems like he might not be in season 8 much?

people are saying (based on other abc promos dropping atm and considering airdates) we should get a teaser trailer soon, and i think all our theories and wishlists will change when that happens!

toxic buddie fans are getting very disturbing… i say that as a buddie enjoyer, but this is very weird.

i really enjoy buddie as well (it’s just not my preferred ship anymore) but my god yeah. kind of reminds me when fans were saying they were going to “destroy” oliver stark for queerbaiting and he clapped back at them for it. we really just need to ignore the toxic fans, i know it’s hard because they’re so loud about their hatred of bucktommy and lou but it’s why i’ve cooled down my ranting a bit and started censoring/not tagging when i do rant abt it to keep it between me and my moots. the implication that it’s lou’s fault for no one posting is a fucking wacky thing to think too, why would it be his fault? because he made some cameos that have nothing to do with s8??? that’s silly. they’ve been on set for what a couple weeks and we’ve gotten plenty of bts so far.

either way, this is a reminder to block toxic fans always, this includes toxic bucktommys as well and while i’ve yet to really run into many, at least on tumblr, it’s still a good idea to not let this type of toxicity get to you from either side & get off twitter!!! that’s quite possibly the worst place to be for fandom.

now i don’t know what going to happen going forward in s8 and beyond but i’m hoping smth stops these ppl from continuing on like this in the fandom, a wakeup call or smth you know?

I definitely don’t think eddies storyline is going to be Buddie related but I do think Bucks storyline in season 8 will revolve entirely around helping and being there for Eddie(and Bobby) just like it was in 7b, he’s not going to be getting a plot line of his own until season 9

sorry nonny, i had a whole big thing written up and them tumblr decided to eat it, the greedy bitch. i'mma try and remember what i wrote.

having buck just be supporting eddie the whole season would be such a disservice to the growth buck's made the last few seasons. there was also the interview with ryan, i forget if he was just talking about what he would like, or if it was specifically about s8, but he said how eddie's been leaning entirely on buck, and bobby, and it would be great for him to lean on other characters like hen & chim. personally, i really think he should be talking to athena, she's the only other one who probably understands what he's dealing with.

buck's also not going to be in the background all season. unlike KR, tim doesn't tend to drag storylines on all season. when they did a similar new captain bit on lone star it lasted 3 4 episodes, the length of their season opener big emergency. since gerrard is more of a villain™ and it's personal for several characters, while the captain in lone star was more just an antagonist, i imagine he'll be here for a bit longer, but not all the way to the mid-season finale, cause they'll want to set up stuff for 8B. so maybe like 6-7 episodes (or he could die of a bee sting in 8.01. just saying). henren & mara i'm not sure how long it will last, might depend on how closely linked gerrard and ortiz are. as for eddie, if chris isn't back by the mid-season finale and the whole thing does last the entire season, i imagine eddie will finally hit the breakthrough point around then, and will continue that healing journey more in the background of 8B.

and 8B is where we're gonna get more buck, bucktommy, and madney. we'll check in on them in the first half, they'll take centre stage in an episode or two just for balance, but i don't see us getting anything major for them until the back half. although tommy will likely play a roll in finally getting gerrard gone, it'll likely be small. i'm honestly not sure what's going to happen for either couple in 8B; some have said madney might think about another child, which is a possibility. but with how s7 left both couples, it's basically blank slate theorizing until we see the first half.

tl;dr buck may be relegated to backseat for 8A, but that just means he'll be one of the focuses of 8B, no need to wait for s9 (which has no guarantee of happening)

Y’all know what would really spark Eddie’s feelings realization in s8?

Buck going missing.

Not injured, because he’s been physically hurt enough, but just missing. I don’t think we’ve seen him lost and the others having to find him, because the only time that would have been necessary was during the tsunami, and they didn’t know he was caught in it.

So I imagine it something like what the show Found did. They had a great episode where a couple went missing on a hike, and the woman got seriously injured, so the guy— a nurse— stayed with her to give her his blood until help came. Now, neither Buck nor Tommy are nurses, but I imagine Tim and co could figure out a way to have them go on a hiking date, then Tommy gets injured— solely because I do not want Buck injured again— and Buck secures him in one spot as he tries to find his way out of the ravine they fell down or something.

And because I’m not a BuckTommy hater as I’m sure some of their fans think, this would also serve as an episode that could open the door for us to learn what exactly Buck likes about Tommy. What is he seeking by dating Tommy, and whether or not in a moment of life and death, if Tommy is the person Buck wants to have a future with. An episode like this could easily be a “Buck Begins Again”, and focus on his sexuality and whether or not he truly never realized he likes men or was just suppressing it.

Now, imagine all of that happening on Buck’s day off around mid-day, then the next morning the 118 are starting their shift and everyone is confused as to why Buck isn’t at work. Gerard doesn’t give a fuck, obviously, and feels it’s an easy win to firing him, but Eddie is all… “No, something must be wrong. Buck is never not here..” So they call Tommy, but he of course doesn’t answer. Then they call Bobby, who talked to him the day before maybe, and says something like “He said he and Tommy were headed back. Maybe they got caught up or he’s just running late?”

So of course when Buck doesn’t answer anybody all morning, they all start to freak out because Buck doesn’t ghost people. He is the complete opposite of the type, but everyone is also still caught up at work and with Gerard and Councilwoman Ortiz breathing down their necks, they can’t jump to look for him. But you know who can? Maddie. And maaaaaayyyyybe we can wiggle it where Eddie had a scheduled trip to Texas to finally talk to Chris is person, but he’s conflicted about going now, because… it’s Buck. Chris would hate him even more if something happened to Buck, but he’s worried Chris will feel pushed aside again if he doesn’t go.

He ultimately decides to stay and help Maddie look for Buck though, because 1) if Gavin is really gone, obviously there’s no scenes to be had in Texas 2) he slowly realizes Buck means way more to him than he thought possible.

And because I am a Buddie prefer-er, Buck would also end the episode realizing dying on the side of a mountain as he grows increasingly dehydrated and tired, that the people he’d miss saying goodbye to the most does not include the man he walked up the mountain with. It’s Maddie; his sister and the woman who raised him to be the kind man he is today. Bobby; the man who took him under his wing and treated him the way a true father is supposed to. Christopher; the kid he didn’t know he wanted, but has given his heart to as a step-father-figure. And Eddie; the man he built a family unit with and whom he broke down over nearly losing more than once, whose home is a place of peace and comfort for him.

All of that said… am I looking forward to whatever s8 has in store? Not completely, and I already stated my piece on why. The way this season ended was pretty subpar, and because Tim and co refused to have Buck and/or Eddie so much as mention in passing the assumptions people have about them dating or any possible feelings for each other, I truly am not awaiting anyone’s future story arcs. I will still watch and care for the characters, hopefully, but putting thought into whatever eventually plays out on screen? I’m done. As of right now in canon, nothing is being resolved, everything is repetitive, and the actors are reaching a point of being like, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m sure it’ll work out.” Which is a bad sign. So I’m in headcanon all the way territory, and will enjoy what the actors I support put out as objectively as I can.

"I'm one of those who say that to have a future Buddie a Bucktommy is necessary, I think that everything is very planned basically because Eddie's possible coming out of the closet is going to be complex due to three reasons: his parents, his religious beliefs and his military past. Tim knows absolutely all this and I suppose he's aware that such a complex plot can't be developed in several episodes but requires time.

This season proves that they have nothing planned. It was Lucy who was supposed to come back, but the actress couldn't. Tommy was first planned for Eddie, but ended up with Buck. Bucktommy is literally accidental because the original plan fell through. In the original plan (eddietommy) Tim didn't give a shit that a romcom coming out in one episode didn't suit Eddie (parents, religious beliefs, military past). It was Ryan who said it didn't make sense for Eddie, so they passed it over to Buck. I really hope Eddie will have a coming out and we will have buddie. But I also see that they don't have anything planned and kinda go with the flow. And I think they need to hurry if they want to make buddie. Will Tim stay for s8? Or will he pass the show over to KR again and go back to Lonestar? In that case we can kiss a coming out for Eddie and buddie goodbye. My only hope is that something shifts in 710, both need to be single and a sign in the direction of buddie needs to happen. Otherwise we could end up with a missed opportunity 2.0 like the shooting, a repetition of s5 with unnecessary Tommy stuck for a whole second season like Taylor and KR in charge. Nightmare scenario.

I have a good feeling something WILL happen in 710 because of what Maddie said during Bucks coming out scene (to her)…

Maddie: “I don’t think you’re a fraud. I just think that maybe you’re not sure of your own feelings yet. And if there’s something you need to tell Eddie, you will. Just in your own time.”

There has to be a reason Tim wrote that for Maddie to say to Buck.

I’m sure uve seen the news that lone star is ending after season five and grace isn’t coming back for the last season. The cancellation news brought up a discussion that I think was quite interesting and wanted to know ur thoughts 👀

Someone mentioned that Tim must’ve known or had an idea that season five would be lone stars last and with that, the 911 franchise (even tho they’re on diff networks, they’re still under Disney) would lose their only remaining mlm couple, tarlos, (pre bucktommy going canon) after they already lost Mavid from the original series.

And that brought tim to the og and deciding, along with TPTB, to explore a queer storyline with one of the two characters, buck or eddie. Eddie didn’t work out for whatever creative reasons so they went with buck. (( Basically, bi buck was never about buddie [as we’ve know lol], queer eddie being suggested was never about a future queer eddie storyline, and tim doesn’t plan on exploring a queer storyline with both characters, just one and that happened to be buck in the end))

We have all of this, coupled with the mention from oliver of hoping bucktommy could be like tarlos, and just the general care he’s put into bringing back a LI that ticks off all these boxes (is his own character, has the potential to have relationships outside of his relationship with buck, etc), so I can’t help but think that bucktommy was planned from the beginning to be a long term relationship.

Of course they left room to see audience reaction to the couple and the general storyline, but they still took the care to write a story that could extend beyond what we’ve seen in the past with either buck or eddie’s love interests so that if the reception was indeed a good one, they could move forward with the same relationship.

And now that they can see that the response has been largely positive, they’re moving full steam ahead *hopefully* to tell a great love story and tommy’s inclusion in the last two episodes definitely shows that.

Hm yeah, all of this sounds very plausible to me. I think with Tarlos soon gone, having a male queer character in the og show became more of a real plan than just a passing idea and they decided on Buck as the most tenable choice. We know Tim said during the conception of the cruise arc - with not being able to get Lucy's actress back - he thought of Lou/Tommy. I think the thought process was "okay now we have a pilot - oh wait this could work for the bi Buck storyline we're planning as well" because one of the things he said was how he didn't want to just have a new random gay character to couple up with Buck. He specifically mentioned how it was hard to bring the previous LIs into the rest of the show organically and how it was even hard with Abby in the first season and that's why he wrote Maddie as Buck's sister. They wanted this LI to have a standing chance. That gives me the impression that they were at least hoping BuckTommy would get a positive response and they could treat the relationship as a long-term possibility. The initial four-eps were a test ride, not a he will only be here for four episodes. I think by the time they were writing/shooting 7x06, they were already committed to extending this to at least s8.

There are two episodes left and I fear that we won't see much of Tommy!! I mean there's still more to Bobby's story, the Eddie storyline, and I'm guessing something with Mara and henren (and the step-brother and the father). Also if the medal ceremony is at the beginning of the episode, I don't think that it will focus too much on them.… So I'm trying not to get sad because I need more Tommy and more bucktommy before the end!

(I'm not even going to think about the possibility of him not being there for s8!!)

Finale theories

- Herman set fire to Bobbie and Athena's house as revenge for his grandson; I hope he doesn't do the same to Amir

- the cliffhanger is the 118 also being set on fire (though maybe not by Herman, who I suspect will be caught by the end). I think we'll have a scene with Bobby back at work where everything seems normal and then the season will end with the 118 building bursting into flames.

- if the rumors about Gavin aren't true (and I hope they're not) I think it's possible that Buck sees that Eddie is struggling to both take care of Christopher and process his grief over Shannon, so he offers to move in to help him with at least one of those things. Or something like that - I think Buck is going to rededicate himself to his friendship with Eddie in some way. Eddie's parents are in 7x10 for a different reason, perhaps a poorly timed visit to meet Marisol (though idk why they would come for that and not for the medal ceremony). As a callback to episode 1, I bet Eddie asks Buck to talk to Christopher at some point.

- Edisol will end for sure, likely onscreen, since that was the point of keeping her. Bucktommy, idk. It would be comically cruel for Tommy to break it off while Bobby is in the hospital. At the same time, Tim has had plenty of time to do something with this relationship and hasn't, so I don't see the point in dragging it out into s8. It hampers Buck's development - if the relationship is where Buck's bisexual journey is going to take place, we need to see the relationship. I don't like B*cktommy but Tim needs to either give it more time so that we can see Buck's growing confidence in his attraction to both men and women or Tim needs to get rid of it and have Buck's confidence grow while single (which is extremely possible and probably the norm for a lot of LGBTQIA people).

- Madney take Mara in so that she has a somewhat familiar place to go while Henren are fighting for her. Ortiz seems to be a parallel character to Herman in that both have defended their children's/grandchildren's involvement with drugs, to the detriment of that child/grandchild. So, I bet Ortiz, like Herman, isn't completely clean. Maybe Hen (ooo, or maybe Karen) is able to find some dirt on her. Or maybe Hen is able to get the hearing back on the docket and the whole 118 show up for her and Karen and testify to their great character. Idk. I think they'll finish this storyline before s8 so that s8 can be about Mara's further integration into Hen and Karen's family.

- finally, Bobby will fight his way back to life and will be reinstated as captain of the 118. Again, I think everything is going to seem like it's going back to normal and then the 118 burning down at the end of the episode will be the cliffhanger. Everyone will get sent to a different house while the 118 is rebuilt.
