saturdays are when you thrive. going out with all your college friends was just tradition at this point.

sitting at the bar in between anna and courtney, you complain about another failed date you had recently.

“ugh, he was just the worst! he was talking about his podcast the whole time, and then asked me to go back to his place? what do men expect me to say after that. ‘oh yes you talking about your alpha male, gym, i hate women podcast really made me so attracted to you’ like come on!” you turn to anna who’s laughing at you, with a sad stare, and she then is quick to put a hand on your shoulder.

“it’s okay! im sure you’ll find your man soon. isn’t court trying to set you up with that guy from her work?” she says to you, cocking her head to the side slightly.

courtney then chimes in, “yes! oh my gosh, her and spencer are literally perfect for each other! you need to meet him soon, you’ll love him!” she says with a wide smile.

“i mean, he is pretty cute…” you trail off.

courtney had been trying to set you and her friend spencer up for weeks now, and as she continued to gush about how spencer would appreciate your nerdiness and how you would adore his, you feel a tug of curiosity. ignoring the conversation for a moment, you make your way to the old street fighter arcade machine at the end of the bar. the familiar sounds of the game fill your ears as you slip a coin into the slot, your fingers itching to take control of your favorite character - ryu.

as you focus on the game, your mind drifts to the idea of meeting spencer. would he really be as perfect for you as courtney says? The thought lingers in your mind a bit as you unleash a flurry of moves on the joystick, losing yourself in the focus.

spencer's interest piques, and he watches you play for a moment, impressed by your technique. he can't help but notice how focused you are, your determination evident in every move you make. with a newfound curiosity, he watches in awe as you skillfully defeat everyone you fight with ease.

“hey…” you whip your head around and stand up straight from your practically bent over pose, as you hear courtney’s voice from behind you.

there, stood next to her, is possibly the most attractive man you’d ever seen.

he’s got beautiful brown eyes, and dark curly hair. with glasses. oh my. he’s dressed in slacks, tattered old vans, a flannel, and an old work jacket.

“um, hi court.” is all you can muster up to say to her.

courtney takes this opportunity to slip away from you both, leaving you to geek out together, and she rushes over to anna

across the bar, you and spencer are chatting it up, both leant against the wall near the machine.

spencer takes a sip of his drink before leaning in. "so, who's your main in street fighter?"

you grin, a rush of excitement at the chance to talk about your favorite character. "call me basic, but definitely ryu! i love his playstyle, and his hadoukens! they’re pretty gnarly."

"classic choice," spencer replied with a nod of approval. "i’m more of a ken guy myself. gotta respect the fiery spirit, you know?"

you giggle, nodding in agreement. "yeah, ken's cool. those shoryukens can really mess up the game though.”

he smiles at your reply, and the conversation flows on. you find yourself talking to him for the better part of an hour, eventually sitting at the bar with him.

“um, you don’t have to say yes,” he says, turning to you. “but, would you want to come back to my place?”

you smile at him, and tuck a strand of hair behind your ear “i’d like that.”

and so, you find yourself walking back to spencer’s apartment and talking to him about how much you love zelda.

stepping into his apartment, you’re immediately greeted by an array of nerdy decorations that cover every corner. posters of classic video game characters lined the walls, and shelves filled with action figures and memorabilia from various fandoms.

"wow, you have quite the collection!" you exclaimed, taking in the sight with wide eyes.

spencer chuckles nervously with a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his head. "yeah, i might have gone a little overboard."

but to you, it’s like stepping into a treasure trove of nostalgia, and honestly? you were jealous. you eagerly made your way around the room, pointing out your favorite pieces and telling him about the games and shows you loved most.

"that's a limited edition link figurine, right?" you ask, pointing to a display on one of the shelves.

spencer nodded, a hint of pride in his voice. "yeah, it's one of my prized possessions! i also have a few special edition zelda figures."

before long, the initial awkwardness of the invitation fades away, replaced by a comfortable ease as you bond over your shared love for video games, movies, and everything in between.

the night continues, and you end up making him watch your favourite film - perfect blue, which you watch in comfortable silence.

as the credits roll, you stretch out comfortably on spencer's couch, feeling the pleasant weight of sleep pulling at your eyelids. the movie is intense, and you’re exhausted from the day's excitement.

for some thoughts on the Louis "pushing" Lestat + Armand. Should go without saying that Louis did not deserve either (though unclear if Louis or Lestat started the fight that lead to dropping like if it's true Lestat wasn't fighting back. I blame writers and confusing unreliable narrations however I digress) being dropped by Lestat or left in pain by Armand (or screwed over several times by Armand).

So anyways I want to look at the *why* Louis has this pattern that isn't because he's the abuser or bad guy or the one in the wrong. As cheesy as it is, we accept the love we think we deserve, right? Louis has always had lower self worth and has struggled with his image, who he is, especially as a vampire. he dealt with all the complex + intersections problems of being a black semi closeted gay man in the timeframe of America it was set in (20's¿) socioeconomic status, the family problems. I mean even to book!Louis he was always like straight up depressed dude. And it's the whole like people search for red flags for the thrill bc they're used to the chaos hurt and pain? I view Louis very similar. Idk you see this self sabatoging behavior with a lot of trauma+ abuse victims, and it doesn't mean they're a bad guy but often I think Fandom is the place for nuance to die lol.

But I hope they carry on and have more of Louis on the show than the books did, and I hope they continue the character growth where we can see him actually heal and like gain a sense of worth. S1 he appeared to but in reality it was mostly fabricated lies. I hope they don't waste Jacob like that. and, I mean, it's *not* technically wrong. like u wrote and like the show is saying too, these cycles *are* cycles. this is real life! nobody was talking like this before tho. character's trauma histories were not dragged up as much as they are now. anne rice didn't write her stories like the show is doing so ppl are not used to critically analyzing anyone's behavior. she glossed over a lot of conflict as the books went on. taking into account most ppl read these as kids too, a lot of fans coming from the books just don't know anything but their own connection (thru trauma too, usually) to these characters, who they have seen forever as "not doing any wrong" (or doing wrong but it feels "justified" somehow or they said they did wrong so it's "fine"). then the show is saying they do a *lot* of wrong and now here we are.

for brief comments on the fight again....arguments happen and shit gets out of control v easily. no fight is a play by play of which side did what thing and who "deserved" what. there won't be a real answer to most fights like this. but for 1x5 the show has already said lestat is the one who crossed the line. that's all that matters. it's also not damning for life, especially an immortal life. ppl have a hard time understanding any of this bcuz the society's we live in don't allow for anything but punishment forever when we break social rules. that's kind of all anne rice put into her vampire society too, so again....if u come from the books, it's not gonna prep u for the show.

I also don't think S1 was mostly "fabricated lies." I don't think the IWTV book was either, the way most book ppl weirdly believe. I think that's the other part of what makes ppl uncomfortable. ur version of who u think u are is not gonna be what others always see, especially ex partners. it's just something u have to accept. ppl aren't gonna have the same perception of the same events, even for stuff u would think would be the exact same story no matter what. louis and claudia are black and lived with a white man who was family but also literally controlled everything, intentionally or by default of being a white man. everything in S1 is accurate to that relationship in that way and tbh the only reason most ppl want it to be a lie is bcuz most ppl aren't used to seeing whiteness portrayed like that. they want the black man's perspective to be revoked somehow in whatever way so they can stop feeling like they have to take it seriously. it should still be taken seriously, it was saying a lot of real shit. I also believe emphasis was prbly added but as an overall commentary on a lot of things otherwise? S1 does *not* need to be forgotten or written off for *any* reason.

idk if I covered everything I was gonna say but this is already long. ur going in the right direction tho. a lot of ppl aren't asking these questions bcuz they don't want to see louis as a person, then white fandom intentionally makes it feel like u will be attacked if u say anything "racist," so ppl are afraid to say anything, look for attacks or attack otherwise themselves first when nothing is even there. even if there's stuff here I disagree with, it's still fine to have a conversation about it and look at our different perspectives. fandom has ppl in this mindset that it's all who is right or wrong instantly, but that's not....real. this show isn't telling a story of who is right or wrong anyway but ppl's racist's perspectives def hold a different weight that needs to be examined. most ppl just don't want to.

he meets chrissy at one of the last gigs he does before his own wedding and they hit it off, comparing notes about what they would and wouldn't do at their respective weddings (because she's engaged too, though she and jason haven't set a date yet). she makes him promise to sing at her wedding and eddie of course says yes but only if you promise to waitress at MY wedding (which gets a laugh out of chrissy and if eddie weren't an almost-married-man... he might've tried to make her laugh again).

but then he gets dumped by his longtime girlfriend, tammy (obviously), AT THE FUCKING ALTAR and eddie falls into a deep depression. he gives up on the gigs and music altogether because tammy basically told him he was never going to amount to anything if he kept being a wedding singer and she didn't sign up for this!

having witnessed eddie getting left at the altar and the impressive meltdown at his first (and last) gig post breakup, chrissy makes it her mission to try and cheer eddie up. it's probably (definitely) misguided, but she tells him that he has to return to music eventually because she and jason have finally set a date and he promised!!!

etc etc they become closer friends, eddie slowly realizes he's falling in love with chrissy and that jason's a huge fucking tool (and is cheating on her every chance he gets) but he can't tell her. he doesn't wanna break her heart! but of course chrissy's going through the same turmoil because she's absolutely falling for eddie too and realizing she's not in love with jason anymore but she can't just throw away her relationship, can she???

more drama etc etc eventually tammy comes crawling back and then there's miscommunication where tammy and chrissy meet and tammy introduces herself as eddie's fiancee and chrissy is heartbroken because she'd finally made the decision to tell eddie how she feels but instead she just runs right back and tells jason they should just get married NOW instead of waiting for their wedding.

and if i really wanted to go full ridiculous, i'd absolutely write the whole plane to vegas nonsense INCLUDING BILLY IDOL BEING ON THE SAME FLIGHT and eddie singing a song he wrote for chrissy over the plane intercom (CHRISSY THIS IS FOR YOU????) and then getting the girl AND securing a record deal bc that's just how things work in romcoms obviouslyyyy

He has a soft spot for his dad, but he knows he cant be a part of his life since his mom has Geoffrey wrapped around her finger. Malcolm sneaks out or makes up lies to meet up with Johnny from time to time because they are actually close. It hurt Johnny a lot knowing he'd leave Malcolm behind with their mom. I haven't thought far enough in what I want for Malcolm tbh! But I know hes evil which tbh im not really a fan of. life happened and i quit my job and almost lost my car so i took a break from online activities bUT I’M BACK BABY

i started season 2 again recently bc i got my partner into it (!!!!! its fave is taylor :3) and we got to the beginning of the fbi arc

recently i have been thinking abt car rides and like. obviously taylor’s the first to get a car (rich mom life) but i think scary is the first to be seriously Attached to her car. it’s a home away from home yk? when she’s upset she can go to her car and either let it out or see her friends and i think that is so unbelievably important for a teenage girl. also just first space that is Her’s fully and truly (hc that she bought it herself) and she can decorate it however she wants. she keeps markers in the glove compartment so people can doodle on her ceiling and she lets taylor put his anime girl stickers on the dashboard and there’s a dent in the side of the rear passenger door from a rouge soccer ball and a little teen high bumper sticker next to a joker bumper sticker DO U SEE MY VISION. (she is just like me fr.)

linc never gets their license imo (passenger princess 4ever) and normal does not get a car until he Absolutely Has To (he’s like 32. darryl wilson energy)

back to taylor. taylor got his car detailed so it has anime girls on the sides and back. this is a non-negotiable headcanon. BUT outside of that i think his car is super clean and fairly organized, a couple stray monster cans maybe but he cleans his car on the weekends. can and will yell at people for putting their feet on the dash. always has a full tank and complete first aid kid kinda guy. i love him your honor
