finally watched Netflix The Sandman a while back and can i just say, from the way fandom talks about it, I would not have guessed that Hob Whatshisface is a minor side character who was in half an episode, and who's most notable action is loudly thinking about getting in on the transatlantic slave trade.

(before you get your knickers in a twist, I'm not making a judgement on anyone's character for liking him or shipping him with Dream, or whatever. There's just certain tendencies and patterns in fandom, and at some times, they are more apparent than others)

required reading for the magical "voice" headcanon and another for starstruck's signature in particular. asked by @trainerbob23 !

#did i need to do a 9 page comic for this... well who knows. i had this scene in mind for a long time and wanted to do it justice!#important moment for both of them. you can see starstruck just generating the bandee shaped mental illness in real time.#and bandee resolving to be her point of contact with waddle dees if the others can't handle it #he is after all; the strongest and the bravest and the best of them.#“what is this signature like” it's like meeting something that has a human face but you can tell it is Not Human. think: uncanny valley #it also took her quite some time to pick up her own voice. she could not speak (popstarian) on her own for a while #she does not mimic anymore though if she can help it because it tends to weird others out and she wants to avoid that!!#it's not like a fun or enjoyable impersonation; it's like a perfect recording on a device.#also i guess this is *finally* the reveal of the 'hospital' mentioned previously that folks noticed and also like... her name 😂#anyway.... thank you to everyone who voted for starstruck in that poll and has encouraged this insane self indulgence... wow.#never thought i'd get to draw stuff like this and have others look forward to it. i really hope you'll enjoy this!!!#my art #my comics #starstruck dee #bandana waddle dee

been counting the number of wilson scenes per ep and s1 has 140 total with 1x10 having the most at 18 and 1x22 having the least with only 2 he also got a total of 0 separate plots all season and only 4 episodes had any kind of inquiry into his character he truly is just Also In Those Episodes in s1 they didn’t give a fuck about him

the thing abt the surgery is that yes I do get litle moments of being ecstatic it finally happened but also I just feel Normal now. like my base state for all my life up until last week was worry, horror, and panic when i'd occasionally remember the very unwanted thing my body was capable of, spiraling into what ifs on potential conflicts in my life and future... and now i just feel Not Stressed Out All the Time. Normal.

#Like. The narrator introduces jc to us as the antagonist #Then we got to know him. Not who people think he's. But who he really is #And we saw jc giving wwx a piggyback. Giving him soup. Rescuing him. Putting himself between wwx and any danger (madam yu/wen soldiers)#And even the staged fight. It's yk. Staged #jc wanted to protect wwx at any cost. But wwx wasn't willing to compromise. But jc did #The fight was wwx's idea. Because jc is an enabler (just like jfm and jyl)#jc is ready to bend for his loved ones sake #The point is. Every action jc takes. Is in the name of his loves ones' safety. And surprise. wwx is one of the people jc really cares about #Even after wwx' return. Aside a broken cup. jc isn't doing much to stop wwx or anything. We know that jl was able to free wwx from Zidian #only because jc - Zidian's primary master- wanted it!#And jc fling himself into danger countless times to save wwx even though wwx can't sit still with him for a hot minute #What I wanted to say it's that the jc is presented to us - the mean ungrateful man- is very different from the real jc -#the indulgent uncle who rolls his eyes at his nephew antics. the brother who buries the hatchet for his sister's happiness.#the uncle who kinda wants to help wn to get up from the floor because he was an ass to jc but he helped jl and that's what matters to jc #the sect leader who let two women speak freely their mind in a patriarchy society #People better than me have already said this. shit I can't remember my point lmao #Like. jc is presented as an antagonist but what this man wanted was an apology and an explanation #This post is a mix of a rant I wrote last year (ha) after seeing a bad take. i love how the quote “your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing” is often cited as a sort of aphorism when in context it's just rodya hard projecting all his problems onto poor sonya. like please do not take any sort of advice from a man who unironically compares himself to napoleon. he is not qualified

#rodya's worst sin is that he committed murder actually #and he didn't even do it well #he feels this deep sense of regret because he ascribed meaning to a senseless action and followed through before understanding it's futilit #like imo rodya doesn't commit murder for money. that's how he justifies it to himself but his motivation comes from insecurity #he want to be the type of person he describes in his theory #and so neither the money nor the murder cannot bring him satisfaction because they weren't what he was looking for #he's a mess emotionally he can't reflect on his actions because he can't come to terms with them and so he avoids his problems #(real)#and he's doing it in this scene! by ascribing his feelings to sonya as a way to commiserate with someone he sees as less morally wrong #that way he can avoid feeling morally culpable even though he is #sonya is to rodya what rodya is to svidrigailov #jesus christ these notes are long oopsie #and i still have more to say lol #crime and punishment #fyodor dostoevsky

The thing that kills me about the Star Wars prequel trilogy and why I will die on my hill that my problem is not that Star Wars is a tragedy, its that its a badly written tragedy, is that Anakin Skywalker was at his closest to being a good Jedi when he was ten years old.

#im not an anakin apologist by any means because I get the point of his character and Im not pro or anti jedi #my only real opinion on all of it is similar to what I was saying about Peter and Tony and the MCU yesterday #its badly written. its EVERYONE being contorted into shapes that dont make a ton of sense in service to #getting characters to where they need to end up for certain things to occur #my opinion is not that Anakin is inherently bad or good or that the Jedi are inherently bad or good #its that their entire conflict was set in motion by forcing the Jedi to act in ways that felt massively OOC when they were #first interviewing him as a kid and like.....I ACCEPT that the Jedi are supposed to be for the most part kindhearted and empathetic and all #of that which is why its so noteworthy in my opinion that this does not match with how they were FORCIBLY portrayed in those early movies #in order to ENGINEER the idea that this kid in desperate need of support but already with a lot of good instincts and positive traits #came to the order of kindly supportive literal empaths and everything went downhill from there #like kindly supportive literal empaths would not in my opinion look at a kid trying his best to be brave & stoic in completely intimidating #circumstances and surroundings and be judgmental and fairly dismissive about it as though theyve never met a kid before let alone a #traumatized one and the fact that thats kinda what happened is in contrast to how a lot of pro anakin people frame that NOT proof #that the Jedi order are inherently bad its that in that key scene and multiple others #the Jedi order were BADLY WRITTEN in pursuit of one pre-determined outcome that mattered more to the script/Lucas than #being true to their core conceit and characterizations. and thats just one example out of dozens I could list and the same holds true for #anakin's side of things so thats why I always steer far away from SW discourse #because Im like the problem with the characters in terms of the most iconic arc is not really any of the characters so much #as the plots refusal to let them actually consistently BE characters rather than just fixed and contrived stepping stones on the way to #the desired endpoint

I liked seeing Anxiety doing the things she did to help Riley (even if she ended up pushing her way too far and not really helping out :,)) it was realistic to see her obsess over every little thing Riley did and how the decisions she made in the movie would impact Riley in the future (I also love how Envy was basically her right hand man. She was just cheering on Anxiety the whole time, until the end of the movie of course)

Ennui was pretty funny, I liked how she was just bored the whole time and messed on her phone XD

I love them (and the movie) a totally normal amount too. It’s not like I was so obsessed with the first one as a kid and watching the second one made me fall in love with the franchise again 😇😇

i think the funniest neal relationship is when he's dating sara because 90% of it is 'we both like to be dressed to the nines at all hours of the day and night, we should fuck about it' and the instant they have any disagreement whatsoever they're like oh right our expensive and impractical taste in clothing is the only thing we have in common
