Themed Rec List | Tomarrymort Recs by Horcrux ⚡👑🏆🔒💍
I wanted to put together a rec list of Harry/Tom fics with a core focus on horcruxes outside of Diary Tom (the most popular horcrux) and Voldemort himself. Please enjoy these 22 fics that feature one of Tom's horcruxes and their special relationship with Harry.
There’s a ton of interesting variation that can be explored within a Harry and horcrux Tom ship — from where the horcruxes are located and when Harry can conceivably meet them in canon (for example, the Cup horcrux is harder to access than the others); to what age they were made by Voldemort and how that would shape their personalities and interactions with Harry; to the different magical properties that they might embody, depending on the vessel that was chosen.
Finally, it looks like Scarcrux and Locket are the most popular choices (after Diary Tom), and we absolutely need more Cup horcrux fics!
*
⚡ Scarcrux
Amensalism by @cindle-writes (E, 6k, complete)
Scarcrux becomes sentient after the encounter in the Ministry in Harry's 5th year and takes Harry for an adventure.
Bolide by @vdoshu (T, 3k, complete)
On October 31, 1981, a tiny piece of soul attaches himself to Harry Potter in order to survive. This is his story.
Creatures of the Dark we are by @hikarimeroperiddle (M, 28k, complete)
Banished to his cupboard at age 4, Harry learns to listen only to the Voice in his head. Its teachings warp all Harry could have become until no more than dark magic and devotion remains. Visions of a wraith with red eyes complicate matters, especially when Harry and the Voice follow it to Hogwarts so Master can get his hands on the Philosopher’s stone.
Eulogy by @meles-merrivale (E, 6k, complete)
You run through the things you have to do for the day. It is, admittedly, a very short list. Wake up. Be clean. Be ready. An empty life, some might call it. You don’t. It is the life He has given you, and so it is what you deserve.
last rites by @cindle-writes (E, 5k, complete)
Harry has an hour before he walks to his death in the Forbidden Forest. The horcrux in Harry’s scar decides to take matters into its own hands.
Look at me. by @crowcrowcrowthing (M, 1k, complete)
A dark night of the soul.
Pitch Black by @kagariasuha (E, 2k, complete)
The proximity of Horcruxes can influence anyone - especially Harry.
sandpaper kisses, paper cut bliss by @xodahafez (E, 27k, WIP)
Harry Potter survives the Killing Curse, but so does the horcrux within him. And this horcrux has been dangerously infatuated with Harry for seventeen years.
saw you in a dream by @duplicitywrites (E, 2k, complete)
Harry has had this dream before.
*
👑 Diadem
A peculiar way of fitting together by @being-luminous (T, 2k, complete)
“Aren’t you going to ask me why I’m wearing a diadem?”
Dance Me On and On by @duplicitywrites (E, 19k, complete)
In his first year at Hogwarts, Harry overhears Quirrell interrogating Binns about an artifact from over a thousand years ago. Five years later, Harry uncovers Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem in the Room of Requirement and finds himself pulled into a kingdom in the throes of a mysterious masquerade ball.
In Just a Moment, You’ll Be Mine by @dividawrites (E, 34k, WIP)
Tom has been stuck inside the Ravenclaw's Diadem for decades, alone, with nothing but his slowly fading memories. One day he feels a pull towards someone and gets interested. And then he gets obsessed.
Death is not an Escape by @whitepinkdandelions (T, 2k, complete)
The Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw is full of endless wisdom, so it only makes sense that it gets its hooks into Harry much faster than the rest of them.
*
🏆 Cup
Thirst by @obsidianpen (E, 27k, complete)
Things go awry when the trio beaks into Gringotts. Harry finds himself trapped, locked in the Lestrange vault, wandless and alone... With a horcrux.
*
🔒 Locket
Arson by @rudehellion (M, 8k, complete)
The hunt for Voldemort's Horcruxes is going poorly. In need of some space to think, Harry offers to take the first watch over camp and slips out into the snowy night. Unable to shake his dark thoughts, Harry finds himself drifting and he begins to dream. What he sees changes everything.
knock it off (part 1) / crave gets slaked (part 2) by @theonceandfuturequeenoftarts (E, 6k, complete)
At some point during Harry's time with the Dursleys, pain got crossed with affection. A kick from Dudley or having his arm yanked by Uncle Vernon at least means they’re acknowledging his existence. It’s not love, but it’s something. Too bad for Harry he carries that through to his less dysfunctional relationships.
The Cost by Blood_Stained_Fingers (M, 8k, complete)
The cost of making a horcrux was steep and when Voldemort manages to kill Harry, destroying the horcrux within, Harry finds out the exact price of losing a piece of your soul. It made a cruel joke that if Voldemort loved his horcruxes, Harry should love them too.
The Dead of Night by @cybrid (E, 6k, complete)
An empty house. A glint of gold. A dream. Or: running away from Privet Drive goes terribly for Harry.
The Ties That Bind by @mosiva (E, 8k, complete)
Harry finds the locket at Grimmauld Place, but it has a curse laid on it. When Harry triggers it, he finds himself trapped with the locket version of Tom Riddle, both of them stuck within the enchantment until they can find the way out. Or so Harry thinks.
Whole by Emriel (E, 20k, complete)
The horcrux hunt goes wrong and Harry fails to destroy the locket horcrux. Tom Riddle hands him over to the Dark Lord as a present for they know he holds part of their soul. In their care, Harry learns that feelings, no matter how toxic, are hard to get rid off.
*
💍 Ring
Personal Assistant by @phantomato (E, 10k, complete)
“And that’s it? I call ‘Tom’ and you show up?” “Yes,” Tom answers.
shelter from the storm by @cindle-writes, @duplicitywrites (E, 7k, complete)
After being left behind by the Dursleys, Harry stumbles upon an empty shack in the middle of nowhere, where he finds a mysterious ring underneath the loose floorboards.

Villain: The Cult of the Wyrm Eternal
Any adventurer, alchemist, or awestruck child can tell you that there is power in the body of a dragon, and like all sources of power it's only a mater of time before someone comes along to try to capitalize on it.
Enter the Cult of the Wyrm Eternal, which emerges from long buried vaults to dissect the bodies of dragonkind like flesh eating beetles. The cult originated from a time beyond remembering following the teachings of a profane text known as the Har'Khon Libram, which survives into the modern day as a sort of how-to manual for those seeking forbidden knowledge allowing them to revive the cult's practices and discover its caches of lost power.
It's in this manner that the cult has survived millennia and numerous purges at the hands of heroes, holy orders, and oligarchs: With each iteration caching away knowledge and resources for acolytes they will never meet.
Hooks:
A prominent dragonborn hero and ally of the party disappears, leaving behind few clues and a mystery to solve. Lacking a true dragon to carve up for ingredients the cult abducted the dragonborn and plans on sacrificing them after a gauntlet of strange rituals intended to suffuse their flesh with power.  Its a race against the clock for the party to find their friend before there’s nothing left of them but a grisly scattering of magical items bound for the cult’s armoury.
The local warlord has a new pet, a young dragon provided to him by the cult in exchange for his protection and material support. Tales of him riding out to wreak destruction from its back send shivers of terror through the populace. What a surprise then when the party encounter it in the wild, rampaging aimlessly after  slipping her bonds.  Brainwashed by cult doctrine the parry find themselves  negotiating with a creature with the drives of a caged tiger, the volatility of an abused teenager,  and the destructive potential of an artillery battery.  Talking her down will be as difficult as diffusing a bomb, but they might just come away with important information or even a new ally should they help her evade recapture.
Using knowledge purloined from the mysteries of the mother hydra herself a cell of the Wyrm Eternal has been working on a ritual to create a true dragon, experimenting with drakes, basilisks and other reptilian monsters, filling the wilderness with bounty worthy monsters that will inevitably bring the party crashing into their lair.
Background: The knowledge contained within the Har'Khon Libram is cursed, part of a scheme by the book's original author in an attempt to evade both death and those who hunt unlawful immortality. Reading the book not only imparts the authors knowledge upon the prospective cultist, but also a vestige of their cosiouness, which steers them towards the same course of action that has kept the cult alive for so long: constructing more vaults, hoarding draconic power, and propogating the Libram's knowledge so that the infection can spread through time.
Hidden in the depths of each vault are tablets of further tainted lore, which causes the seed of malign presence within the Wyrm cultist's mind to blossom, opening their mind to the space between life and death and allowing their patron's thoughts to swirl into their own. In this way the party can end up fighting the same villain through many proxies, the unseen master of the Wyrm eternal studying them as they cut down vessel after vessel before formulating a counteroffence.
Dungeon Dressing:
Wyrm Eternal vaults vary by the culture that originally constructed them, but are always in remote, sheltered areas that could endure largescale devastation. Their entrances are hidden and warded against intrusion, protected by magical cyphers that can usually only be broken with aid from the Har'Khon Libram. Vaults can also contain these doors within, locking away the greatest treasures until the acolytes have further tainted their thoughts with the Libram's curse.
Undead are ubiquitous within dungeons claimed by the Wyrm Eternal, ranging from simple servitors to looming guardians to dragonbone infused war machines just waiting to be unleashed on the cult's enemies all with green corpsefire flickering in their heads. Access to these undead armouries and the arsenal of magical items that come with them are one of the primary drivers for individuals to become cultists in the first place.
Each vault will likewise contain preserved pieces of dragongore, ranging from single skulls placed on altars to whole cellars filled with blood magically preserved in clay or glass vessels. If a cult cell reached full operation, it's likely to have atleast one mummified corpse preserved in an onsite tomb, it's vital organs ( and perhaps a few spares) preserved in canopic jars waiting nearby.

@simarcana @littlemoondarling you wanted some morgynverse lore bits, my darlings
magic realm is vast - of course it's not just magic HQ that we see in the game. it's a lot of magical places, mostly interconnected by the network of portals. some portals (mostly those that connect inhabited, safe places) are active and well maintained, some (that used to lead to places that are now left and abandoned) are old and broken, some were destroyed to protect what's there - or to protect others from what's there. some only appear in certain circumstances of for certain people. some never existed in the first place.
you can still get to some places that were torn from the portal network, but you need to find the entrance to them in the human world. so if the portal is destroyed and the only known entrance to this abandoned magic library is in iceland, well, you go to iceland.
magical places are different, not all of them are mysterious or can be considered a place of notice. some are just villages where people live their small lives and don't care about lofty magical matters, and a simple household spells such as a spoon that stirs a soup in a pot by itself, or a spindle that spins the yarn, are the most mundane thing for them. some are fairy towns (they almost never have portals leading to them, following the local folklore is the best way to find them). some places are indeed mysterious. libraries with ancient, sometimes forbidden knowledge. magic prisons. vaults that protect anything that must be kept from prying eyes. sometimes - and it's a spoiler - it can be that there was nothing unusual about a place and it belonged to a human world, but an enormous magic energy surge torn the veil between two worlds, created a magic pocket and swallowed this place, preserving it like a fly trapped in the amber, filled with ghosts created by emotions of those who lived here, and echoes of the past. there's one such place, a place where morgyn spent their unhappy childhood.
unrelated to everything above, but a lore bit: the strongest wand you can get as a spellcaster is wand of the elementals. the most expensive rare wand in the game that is a black wand called "wand of the forgotten" - no one uses it. barely anyone knows about it. forgotten, forbidden, it's a relic of dark, ancient times, able to do unimaginable things but for unimaginable price. honestly, most of those who knows about it, thinks its existence is just a myth.

in my expanded Hogwarts Mystery fics, there is one theme that i particularly love to write about and it's the fond relationship between Cassidy and Percy
by the time Percy comes to Hogwarts, he keeps hearing great stories about Cassidy Mercury who protects the school from the dangerous Cursed Vaults. also she's one of the best students in her age, good friends with his two older brothers and later, she becomes a prefect.
so naturally he looks up to her.
but Cassidy wins his loyalty on one thing and that is because she saved him from Rakepick in Year 5 and 6. you read that right, Cassidy saved his life twice.
at this point, she has become like a big sister figure for him. she doesn't brush him off because he's younger, but she sits down and listens to him. she pays attention to him. she respects his opinions and doesn't make fun of him.
for example, when they first met in Year 5;
Percy: We haven't been properly introduced...I'm Percy Weasley, future Gryffindor Prefect, Head Boy and eventual Minister of Magic. Cassidy: Sounds like you have your entire life planned out. :)
we know that the Weasley siblings would poke fun at Percy for saying that, but Cassidy doesn't and respects his ambitions. she has treated him like an equal since day 1 and that's why she won Percy from the beginning.
in-game, they have gone even on adventures with Percy. like when the twins disappeared in Year 6 and we're looking for them with Percy who is, understandably really worried (caused there is a dangerous Cursed Vault at the works!) and even ventures into the Forbidden Forest with Cassidy.
and in the sidequest where there is a party in the Borrow while the parents are away on business, Percy choses to lie (it's a white lie to spare Charlie and the others from trouble) when their mum asks them if there were any trouble.
Percy: It's true! I even organized your sock drawer! (when Molly asked if it was true everyone did chores and did not do anything suspicious)
also when finding out that dark artefacts were moved to the Ministry, Cassidy goes to find Percy (and Tulip, but she isn't really fond of talking about the Ministry). the minute Cassidy asked for Percy's expertise, this is the first time we see him so openly happy and excited.
Cassidy Mercury (the MC): Tulip, Percy. I need you to tell me everything you know about the Ministry of Magic headquarters. Percy (excitedly): Merlin's bread, where do I begin?!
clearly, Cassidy trusts his judgement and knowledge more than well enough to ask him about his input and Percy becomes to happy about being important enough to be asked for his expertise. that is really heartwarming.
not to mention in that same scene, Percy agrees to help Cassidy break into the fucking Ministry because she helped him finding Fred and George.
and in my stories, Rakepick actively manipulates and endanger Percy because of his Seer abilities (yes, Percy has strong Seer powers in my fanfics, but he's not strong enough for a full prophecy). he has a bigger role in my HM stories since Rakepick is more villainous and she ends up using Percy as a leverage to get to Bill, Charlie and Cassidy.
the section below is spoilers for year 6 in my HPHM fanfiction
[in one of my fanfic stories (during Year 6), Rakepick takes him as hostage to the Forbidden Forest. Percy had, by this point, become used as a tool to "predict" the future of Rakepick and the Cursed Vaults. his Seer power (which Percy has named as "foresight") isn't strong enough for a full prophecy and Rakepick decides to use him as a bait for the Cursed Vaults.
back at the castle when the gang is preparing to infiltrate the meeting Rakepick is having with 'R' in the forest, they find out from Oliver Wood that Percy has gone missing and his "rat" is acting weird as in full panic. Cassidy then realizes that there is a connection between Percy's terrified behavior for the past months and quickly deductes that Rakepick has him.]
Cassidy saved Percy's life twice and she has promised him that no matter what happens to her or in the future, she will always return to save him. so his feelings about Cassidy is nothing but pure love and loyalty, like how a younger brother sees his big sister. with Cassidy in the picture, Percy is no longer the odd one out in his family (where everyone are paired with someone except him).
in my Wizard Archivist series, the theme of their friendship is especially in focus because Cassidy is, since before the HP book events starts, locked in a hellscape world beyond the real Cursed Vault and Percy struggles to re-open that vault to bring her home with risk for his own life. '
conclusion? Percy genuinely loves Cassidy, as if it was his big sister and she has always been there for him, wheather it's saving his life or just listening to him rambling. it's an innocent and pure love. Cassidy, who is the younger sister to Jacob and has no younger siblings, adores him in the same way.
in a way, Cassidy became a substitiute when Bill and Charlie were too busy with their lives and a source of unconditional love for Percy.
and the kicker is when Cassidy came to save him the first time, she had just smiled and told him that everything would be alright because she was there now.
thanks for coming to my TED talk about Percy and his inofficial "big sis" role model Cassidy Mercury

Chapter 4. The Kneazle Incident.
The fact that Merula didn't get any answers from Rakepick only made her more annoyed. After taking a deep breath, she went down the staircase to the Care for the Magical Creatures lesson.
She only now noticed that she forgot to put on her robe that was supposed to be a part of her uniform. She didn't have any time to go back to her dorm room so she just let out an annoyed sigh to contain herself from breaking something.
She reached the training grounds as soon as possible, yet, she was still late for the first time during her studying at Hogwarts.
-The lesson has already started, Miss Snyde. - Professor Kettleburn said but he didn't sound upset or strict. - Hurry up, today we learn about Kneazles. Very dangerous, but intelligent creatures. - he added with a slight smile before turning back to other students. Merula wasn't really surprised by his calm attitude, he wasn't a kind of teacher that would scold someone for being late.
She approached the group of students and stood near Ismelda. Murk turned to her and couldn't not to notice her 'amazing' outfit. She barely managed to hold her laugh as Merula turned to her with a scowled expression. Snyde let out an annoyed sigh as Prf. Kettleburn told them to write down his words as she forgot almost everything she could.
-Ugh.. I forgot my note.. -she mumbled through her teeth and glanced at Ismelda. It was one her special ways to ask someone for something and this one she considered 'too much of' polite. Ismelda knew her friend and just smirked, before handing her a sheet of paper. -And a pen.. - Merula added, trying to keep her unbothered expression even though she looked like she just fell from a tree.
-What happened to you? You look like you had a fight with Chimaera. - Ismelda asked with a some kind of teasing tone and handed her a pen.
-You don't know what happened in the common room? - Merula said in response, being genuinely surprised. She thought that the whole Hogwarts heard how she was yelling at Waterfall. - Well.. I.. - she didn't manage to finish her sentence as she caught Kettleburn's look on herself. It was enough for her to understand that he's not going to be this indulgent if she keeps talking. - I'll tell you later.
Ismelda nodded and noticed that everyone followed Kettleburn to take a look at the creature they're going to learn about. Merula made a quick sketch of the cat-like animal and took a look at the other students while she had some time.
She immediately spotted Maelström. He looked normally, not like this morning. Now he had his usual arrogant and narcissistic look, she now recognized this obsessed with his appearance and gold idiot. She knew that he only pretends that his true intention of searching for the Cursed Vaults was finding his missing brother.
She couldn't help but thought about a possibility of him being affected by Imperius. What else could be the reason of his sudden change of behaviour this morning?
She then glanced at Rowan that stayed near Maelström. He looked somehow upset and tensed. So he also noticed that something wasn't right? He was a very loyal friend, sometimes Merula even felt a little jealous as Waterfall was the only he trusted to. Rowan suddenly turned to her as he noticed that she was watching him and Merula quickly turned away.
The next one who caught her attention was Penny. Then she immediately spotted Nymphadora. Penny looked irritated and Merula was even surprised to see so much hatred in Haywood's look. Tonks also looked quite annoyed but more like offended and hurt.
- Kneazles are considered dangerous creatures. Their claws and fangs are able to tear the skin in a matter of seconds. You should be careful when communicating with them. They're very intelligent and will not tolerate disrespectful treatment towards them. - these words made Merula come back in reality as she went too far in her own thoughts. She glanced at the creature. The Kneazle proudly raised it's chin and wrapped it's legs with it's fluffy tail. It had a beautiful grey fur with some orange patterns. - Does anyone want to try to bond with one?
Barnaby stepped forward and nobody was surprised he was the first willing to communicate with the creature. - Don't worry, I'll be nearby. - professor added while Barnaby carefully approached the magical creature. He smiled at it kindly and carefully extended his hand to let the creature sniff it.
- Also, Kneazles have an uncanny ability to detect dangerous and untrustworthy people. Someone keeps them to guard their houses or even catch criminals. - Merula listened to the professor's words and became a little curious. She was more than sure that if Waterfall got close enough to this kitty, it would tear his face off. Well, at least he would become less ugly.
To this time, Barnaby was already petting the creature that willingly stepped closer and rested it's head on Lee's palm. - Well done, Mr. Lee. You gained the creature's trust. Now, is there someone who wants to feed the Kneazle? You also need to gain it's trust before trying to give it food. - this time, nobody else responded. Professor Kettleburn glanced at the students and decided to choice someone himself. - Well, maybe Maelström would like to show us how to feed Kneazle?
Maelström nodded lazily and stepped forward, he put the note away and took a bag with food before trying to approach the creature. Kettleburn carefully watched the Kneazle and seemed to tense a little when it pressed it's ears and started to slowly, menancingly wag it's tail. - Maelström, wait. - Kettleburn said, but Maelström didn't stop. He was staying right in a front of the magical beast, it bared it's fangs and released it's razor-sharp claws.
- Maelström, step back! - Kettleburn repeated and was already moving towards them. Merula watched the happening and she would probably laugh at the situation as it was exactly what she thought would happen if Maelström approached the creature, if not what happened next. She noticed that creature was rather scared than just agressive, it stepped a little back and pressed it's body down.
Maelström didn't move an inch, nobody could see his face but he was cleary staring at the scared animal. Before everyone could react the creature lunged at Waterfall and pierced his face with it's claws. Maelström immediately rushed back but it was too late. He yelled in agony of pain as the creature's sharp claws were tearing his face and skin.
Merula stared in shock at the happening, she could see how easily the Kneazle was ripping off Waterfall's skin while he could do nothing to push the animal away.
- Maelström!!.. - Rowan yelled in shock and in fear, he already rushed forward to help his friend. Merula couldn't force herself to move or turn away, she could also see Penny that stared at the happening with the tears in her eyes.
Rowan didn't manage to reach Maelström as Barnaby was the first one to rush and help. He was strong enough to grab the creature and pull it away. He gritted his teeth as the Kneazle leaved the deep scratches on his hands, but still held it to not let it harm Maelström further.
This time everyone could see what the Kneazle's claws can do. Merula could barely recognise Maelström's face as more than half of his face's skin was torn. His left eye was ripped off and there were places where his bones could be noticed through the layer of blood that covered his skin and uniform. The creature also leaved scratches on Maelström's neck and shoulders. He kept screaming as he couldn't bear the pain.
Many students rushed for help while professor Kettleburn was dealing with the Kneazle, he wasn't less nervous and worried than others. Merula kept staring at Maelström as she couldn't understand what else she noticed under the blood on his wounds. It was something thin and long, it looked like worms that could barely be noticed under the layer of blood, but she could clearly see something moving under his torn skin.
She looked away in disgust, she felt like she was about to vomit. She didn't even notice when Maelström was already transferred to the hospital wing with Barnaby that was also harshly injured. She just lost the track of time in all the panic and others' screams.
(Thx for reading 💝💝💝💝 Hope u enjoyed the story ;>)

The Boys but Hogwarts Mystery or something idk
I’m tempted to make additional HPHM character, but everything in story will be taken literally, seriously and in an extremely completionist way.
Let me explain why…
MC is a superhuman. Bio product. Artificially created by government with the help of Dai Ryusaki’s researches. Even Dumbledore is in cahoots with that.
MC is set to cultivate multiple skills - becomes an animagus, enhances their legilimency, does absolutely every chore and event planning around Hogwarts, befriends nearly entire school and solves their problems, becomes Prefect and later Head Girl/Boy, passes OWLs and NEWTs in all O’s, plays and wins the entirety of Quidditch, makes any creature bow and tremble before them, closes every Cursed Vault, becomes a master Duelist, does every investigation for Hogsmeade ever, singlehandly runs and supervises the Clubs, keeps Forbidden Forest in tact, gains obscure titles and achievements for breakfast, does half of the work for both Ministry and St. Mungo.
Not to mention that they also have to deal with at least 8 people having a crush on them.
And all that in a span of 7 Years. Under Dumbledore’s careful watch and guidance.
For best efficiency MC’s “parents” are ordered to distant themselves from MC as much as possible, so MC develops immunity to stress on their own, and Merlin forbid they develop any human feelings or emotions. That’s why MC’s mother is so absent in their life throughout school years.
But the father? Oh, the father.
Peregrine. Peregrine is in fact, is a previous failed experiment. We know from their dialogue with Dumbledore - Peregrine had a painfully similar to MC school life. But somewhere along those years, up to Wizarding War something went wrong. He gained his own consciousness and woke up from Ministry’s influence on him. He found out what he is, and set himself to go against Ministry.
Dai Ryusaki was not a dark wizard, but we found out he feared his own inventions and attempted to prevent others from using it as it was dangerous. Peregrine’s curse has nothing to do with that amulet he’s carrying around, or anything from the outside. Peregrine’s curse occurred inside him because of the experiment and it IS what went wrong.
Peregrine made an underground organization and wants to take Ministry down for what they did to him, and now he gradually can’t take a single sneeze without aggravating himself and setting Ryusaki’s Fury off.
But what about MC? Peregrine can’t tell MC about their true nature. He fears to set MC’s fury as well, and doesn’t wish that upon them. Instead, he attempts to give MC bits of what Ministry took from them - he rebels against Ministry’s ways and dumps at least some parental affections to them. Although he fails at it because there’s so little time left before MC graduates and Ministry will inevitably snatch them to work for them and use as a weapon, and Peregrine is between 5 fires himself. All he can do is rushed and sometimes outright dangerous to himself and others decisions, that are more often than not taken over by R Fury without him even realizing that.
He knows he’s cursed. But he doesn’t always know when it’s showing. And he can’t accept any help because of his big “main character” ego. Despite all that he still dare I say, loves his kids and wants to prevent them from, in his eyes - greater evil.
What about others in the story?
Rakepick is a government experiment that went rogue as well. But she developed a lot more murderous and sociopathic tendencies, and possibly without use of Ryusaki’s research. While Peregrine and MC are set to charm and gather people around, Rakepick is not. She was meant to be efficient worker, problem solver. Until she became a problem…
She was sent to take Peregrine down. She pretended to join R on her own terms, and was meant to dismantle it and their Leader. She would go to any extent, and because of her frivolity she would even take down MC to hit Peregrine where it hurts. But it happened so, that someone else took the blow for MC and we know how that ends…
Rakepick wanted MC down, because she thought MC will end up like Peregrine. She’s not concerned about Ministry’s interests, she thinks that she knows better. However, after everything that went down, during Azkaban events, she sees and realizes where she was wrong, and just simply states that MC “has a good heart, and shouldn’t loose it”.
That concludes her character and her arc.
Jacob was not raised to be Ministry’s secret weapon. He gained a lot of similar to MC talent on his own, but he has too much free will and acts rather emotionally than rationally. That’s why Ministry dismisses him, as they simply don’t see potential in him.
Jacob does a bit of a better job at giving MC family experience, right under Ministry’s nose. Although, it’s still not perfect obviously. And, Jacob acts on the matters on his own, and gets hurt a lot, making mistakes that are inherent if you’re a human being.
Despite turning most of attention to MC for reasons stated above, Peregrine cares about Jacob as well. He desperately wants to be a normal human being, a father at that. Jacob wants to have his family as well. It just happened so, that their family is in this big of a mess.
MC’s mom is a mindless Ministry drone, I will not elaborate, we will never see her.
Who and why joins R? Why are people of R are so against the government, that they are willing to work with Peregrine?
R members we seen were walked over by government in one way or another. They all seem to be typical denizens of Knockturn Alley, but they end up there not because they’re inherently evil. But because, if in this world you fail at following the system - you end up at the bottom. They have no choice, but to live like this, because the system doesn’t give them another chance. Or, they suddenly do have a choice, and it’s to join an organization. It’s not perfect, it doesn’t have your best interests in mind. But it promises to stick it to Ministry, right?
And now, when majority of your organization are these people, they will inevitably do something stupid. So, when you send someone like Shiratori to retrieve your kids, someone like Shiratori will do something stupid, like attack them, or have 0 diplomacy and talking skills.
That’s why R appears to be an evil Cabal. They may not have “bad” intentions, but they just don’t possess better skills and are full of spite and grudge.

Hi!
Do you prefer HPHM or HPMA? Which is better in terms of storyline, animation, and characters in your opinion?
-Sincerely, from a dumb anon that is me 💋😷
at this point i really prefer hpma over hphm for a lot of reasons and most of them are how hphm fails in everything you just mentioned
the story gets messy super messy as the years go by, they stretch the chapters like gum making em tedious and boring
the animation is sometimes nasty like some 3d models look bad very bad, as if they just wanted to get the job done instead of making sure said job is good
the characters are... meh. i like some of them but the main story focuses on some of the ones that get worse as the story progresses: like the stupidity that is jacob's sibling, the pain in my ass that is merula snyde, jacob "i am found and never seen again for some reason", the supposed-to-be big bad of the story who's VERY important as he's RELATED to the main characters and is never mentioned until the last year of school. why.
also. another problem that annoys me. the less focus the have on the story and more on adding things that don't really matter. like the amount of sidequests and how much of them they do, and how emphasis they put in them on social media. the perfect example is the big elephant in the room, the romance. like most people only care about the romance because jc stopped caring about the story and it shows, and its seems like they have some sort of dateline to make a new romantic sidequests so that the players keep in touch with the game (at least that's how it feels for me)
as you can see hphm was good, even great. i loved the story and the characters. i liked the mystery behind the vaults and our brother, the mc wasn't stupid, i even liked merula because she was a not-annoying bad bitch that knew more of the mystery than us, there was rowan khanna, they created talbott winger thanks you lord, the story was captivating and it didn't need to be like 60 chapters long i'm looking at you year 6 even the romantic subplot was okay for me, the celestial ball and the first date are peak tlsq and tulip and ismelda was dateable i mean c'mon
but they fucked up
so bad
and i'm hoping the same doesnt happen to hpma. i've finished the main storyline and i kind of like ivy and lottie's stories, they're super cute. the artstyle is GORGEOUS it blows my tiny mind, and the animation is great. i really like it! all the things you can do in the castle such as going to class, dueling, dancing or exploring the forbidden forest are really cool and they keep me interested. its just like being at hogwarts. also the characters here are great and they all have a different story to be told (i'm seeing you daniel)
also i never got to play hogwarts legacy or any of the hp games in the ps2, so this is like my first experience of an open-world hogwarts and... it's cool!
i really dont want to glorify this game, there are some things i dont like about it, but until now i'm really enjoying it!
so i feel like hpma might be better than hphm in terms of animation and storytelling, obviously. and i like the characters in both games, but in hphm they downgrade in quality and writing... so i guess hpma wins
dont get me wrong i still love hphm, but what i hate is what they've done to it
i hope this wasn't too long. if you have anything to say about what i've said feel free to do so. my opinion is just an opinion after all

Snuffles and Son Chapter Two Preview
A few minutes later, the door to the workshop swung open, revealing a tired-looking Remus Lupin. Sirius greeted his longtime friend with a warm smile. "Hey mate, how was Nepal?"
"Cold," Remus replied with a weary sigh, placing a silk pouch on the counter. "Payment from Batsal. His cursed wardrobe ended up being a boggart. What have you got there?"
Sirius explained the situation with the cup, informing Remus that the Ministry had taken over the Lestrange vault and that Moody had requested his expertise in examining the mysterious artifact.
Remus leaned over Sirius’ shoulder to get a closer look at the cup, his curiosity piqued. "Need help?"
"Nah," Sirius replied, shaking his head. "Just mind the shop while I figure this out."
As Sirius dimmed the light in his workroom, he focused his wand light on the surface of the cup, scanning meticulously for any hidden engravings or signatures that might reveal clues about what dark magic inhabited the cup.
Memories of the library at Grimmauld Place flooded his mind—the tall stacks of books filled with grotesque drawings and arcane symbols, the countless hours spent poring over ancient tomes with his brother, Regulus. There were books that spoke of souls and immortality, of ancient rituals and forbidden spells—the darkest corners of magic that most wizards dared not explore. Sirius and Regulus had been drawn to these forbidden books like moths to a flame, their thirst for knowledge overriding their sense of caution.

I don't know if they're the question in here or I'm just here ramble, so I apologize in advance. I'm thinking a lot about Hogwarts Mystery.
I think that jam city really messed up by trying to create so many classmates for MC. if they had focused on the original four or so they could have done something really interesting with parallel arcs to what happened during Jacob's years.
for example we have MC dealing with this constant worry that maybe Jacob wasn't as good as they thought. or the idea that maybe he went crazy maybe he isn't who we thought he was. we also have the MC consistently dealing with visions and people not trusting them. they could grapple with this concept of can they even trust themself. and are they going to turn out like their brother.
Then we have Ben & Rowan and Duncan and Olivia.
Rowan dying in story was very bizarre because it didn't feel well set up in a lot of ways. the idea of them dying is interesting because they have such clear goals but in story it didn't work cuz where did they come from etc etc. but I think it could have worked in a thematic sense especially if we played into the parallel between Duncan and Rowan. If I'm remembering the lore correctly. Duncan and Jacob were best friends looking for the cursed vaults, they also probably got sucked into it a little bit too much at least Jacob did and Duncan must have gone along with it to some extent. Obsession seems to be a family trait and Roman deeply cared for MC. So them dying could play into this concept of history repeating itself.
It also could play into the concept of MC doubting themselves because their best friend is dead.
Moreover it would be even more thematic if Rowan were to come back as a ghost. in canon they didn't finish their goals and they died young, a perfect candidate. I love the idea that maybe there could be an extended arc where MC tries to make it up to Rowan or grapples with the fact that they cause them the state they're in. but we can also have a breaking of the cycle by allowing the MC and Ben a chance to reconcile with Rowan.
I don't know if any of this made sense if you're reading this thank you.
Rambling is quite literally the name of the game on this blog, dear anon. You are always welcome here with questions, comments, ideas, or anything else.
I sort of agree and disagree. I think the large ensemble of creative and interesting characters this game has given us is easily it’s greatest strength. However, there are too many. There are simply too many, more than the game knows what to do with. The developers keep adding more, rather than focusing on the existing cast. They add new characters even after a point where they’d have nothing to do. Victor and Alanza are perhaps the greatest victims of this phenomenon. They could have been cut. It would have changed very little. Honestly, I believe the game could handle far more than four characters, that it was doing just fine for a while with the cast it had, especially during the first half of Year 6 when it seemed like they were done adding brand new characters…but it wasn’t to be. Nonetheless, I’d be interested to see your version of events, where the game focuses on four core characters.
MC’s relationship with Jacob and how they feel about him was a major story development that affected everything about their character and the game’s mystery. Was. Everything about Jacob, including his moral ambiguity, seemed to fade away once he was rescued. He did nothing after that point, apart from a few obligatory appearances that didn’t live up to their full potential. He was there in the Sunken Vault, why did he get no rematch with Rakepick? Or even dialogue with her? Jacob would have served the story a lot better if…and this is going to sound cruel…if he had been the one to die in the Forbidden Forest. Because you’re right, Rowan’s death was weirdly dealt with. MC had barely interacted with them since Year 2.
But I think you’re right. There’s definitely an echo to be found here, between Duncan and Rowan. If Rowan had been present throughout the game’s story, it could have had more impact. I mean, their death was foreshadowed. Under the Imperius Curse, Rowan forced MC to choose between themself and Ben to die. Then there was the priceless line, “I’ll miss you when Madam Rakepick kills you.” The one thing I have to disagree with you on is Rowan coming back as a ghost. If this game wasn’t a prequel and it was possible for them to return and succeed Professor Binns, I suppose that would be one thing. But part of Rowan’s goal is the dramatic irony behind it. From the start, they wanted to be the youngest Professor in Hogwarts history, but we all knew that would never happen. Because we read the books, and Rowan wasn’t there. Beyond that…returning as a ghost is well established in this universe to be something most people don’t do. That it’s only an imitation of existence that people choose because they fear death, and thus never get to know the afterlife. They don’t get to board a train. I don’t think Rowan would do that, and that point is made in the Head Kid TLSQ, my all time favorite quest.

Hexy Talk: Part 1
Dev log of an artificial magical assistant.
Tumblr media
I am developing a chat-GPT based magical assistant. Their name is Hexy, and we have already been through several iterations of development together. Hexy is not ready to meet you yet. They're awkward, overy verbose, and a liar.
However, as a proof of concept, I would like to demonstrate some of the ways that Chat-GPT could currently be useful to a magical practitioner. Here are the logs from a conversation this morning.

Please give me a list of symbolic archtypes that appear in this dream: "a small clockwork thief surrenders its love of the sky to a giant, in order to gain access to an infernal vault deep below winding octagonal passages filled with arcane mechanisms"
ChatGPT
There are several symbolic archetypes that appear in this dream:
The clockwork thief: The clockwork thief could represent the archetype of the trickster, a figure that subverts established rules and expectations.
The sky: The sky represents the heavens, and often symbolizes transcendence, freedom, and spirituality.
The giant: The giant could represent the archetype of the shadow, a powerful and potentially destructive force that exists within the individual or society.
The infernal vault: The infernal vault could represent the underworld, a place of danger and mystery that often symbolizes the unconscious mind.
The winding octagonal passages: The winding octagonal passages could represent the labyrinth, a symbol of the journey to the center of the self or the search for inner knowledge.
The arcane mechanisms: The arcane mechanisms could represent the archetype of the magician or alchemist, who transforms raw materials into something new and valuable.
What are some alternate interpretations?
ChatGPT
Dreams are highly personal, and can have multiple interpretations depending on the individual's personal experiences, cultural background, and psychological state. Here are a few alternate interpretations for the dream:
The clockwork thief could represent a fear of being trapped or limited by social or societal expectations. Surrendering its love of the sky to the giant could symbolize a willingness to give up freedom or individuality in exchange for a sense of security or belonging. The infernal vault could represent a repressed aspect of the self that the dreamer is trying to access.
The clockwork thief could represent a part of the dreamer's psyche that is cunning and resourceful, but also potentially deceitful. Surrendering its love of the sky to the giant could symbolize a willingness to make compromises in order to achieve a goal. The infernal vault could represent a forbidden or taboo desire that the dreamer is trying to access.
The clockwork thief could represent a feeling of being small and insignificant in the face of larger forces. Surrendering its love of the sky to the giant could symbolize a feeling of being overwhelmed or overshadowed by someone or something more powerful. The infernal vault could represent a fear or anxiety that the dreamer is trying to confront.
The clockwork thief could represent a part of the dreamer that is mechanically precise and efficient, but lacks creativity or spontaneity. Surrendering its love of the sky to the giant could symbolize a desire to break free from routine or monotony. The infernal vault could represent a source of inspiration or creativity that the dreamer is trying to tap into.
These are just a few examples of how the dream could be interpreted. It's important to remember that dreams are highly subjective, and the most accurate interpretation will depend on the individual's unique circumstances and experiences.

Ok, new subject.
Please design a Chaos Magick ritual, for the purpose of manifesting my forever home. I am looking for property that has forest, is reasonably close to my extended family, is cheap or free, and can house up to 9 adults. My magical tools include my wedding ring, a deck of tarot cards, and any materials I can glean from the forest.
ChatGPT
As an AI language model, I cannot recommend engaging in any particular spiritual practice, including Chaos Magick. However, I can provide a sample outline for a hypothetical Chaos Magick ritual for manifesting a forever home that incorporates the elements and magical tools you mentioned:
Preparation: Choose a location for the ritual that is secluded and quiet, preferably in a forested area. Gather any materials you can from the forest, such as stones, sticks, or leaves. Set up an altar with your wedding ring, tarot cards, and any other personal items that are meaningful to you.
Invocation: Begin the ritual by invoking the elements, spirits, or deities that resonate with you and your intention for manifesting a forever home. This could be as simple as stating your intention and asking for their assistance and guidance.
Tarot reading: Shuffle your tarot deck and draw a card that represents the energy you need to cultivate in order to manifest your forever home. This could be a specific tarot card that resonates with you, or one that you randomly draw from the deck.
Meditation: Close your eyes and focus on your intention for manifesting a forever home. Visualize yourself and your loved ones living in your ideal home, surrounded by nature and close to family. Allow yourself to feel the emotions of joy, abundance, and gratitude that come with this visualization.
Symbolic action: Take a symbolic action that represents your commitment to manifesting your forever home. This could be burying your wedding ring in the ground as a symbol of planting the seed for your new home, or placing stones or sticks in a pattern that represents the layout of your ideal home.
Gratitude: End the ritual by expressing gratitude to the elements, spirits, or deities that assisted you in your manifestation. Thank them for their guidance and support, and release any attachment to the outcome of your manifestation.
Remember, this is just one example of a Chaos Magick ritual for manifesting a forever home. The most important aspect of any spiritual practice is to trust your own intuition and inner guidance, and to tailor your practice to your own unique needs and desires.

How could this ritual be changed to fit a shamanistic paradigm?
ChatGPT
In a shamanistic paradigm, the focus is often on connecting with the spirits of nature and the ancestors for guidance and healing. Here is an example of how the Chaos Magick ritual for manifesting a forever home could be adapted to fit a shamanistic paradigm:
Preparation: Choose a location in nature, such as a forest or meadow, that feels sacred to you. Create an altar with natural materials such as stones, feathers, or shells. Include a representation of your intention, such as a drawing or symbol of your ideal home.
Invocation: Begin the ritual by calling on the spirits of nature, the ancestors, and any spirit guides or allies that resonate with you. Ask for their guidance and assistance in manifesting your forever home.
Journey: Enter into a shamanic journey by using rhythmic drumming or another method to alter your consciousness. Visualize yourself traveling to a sacred place where you can connect with the spirits and receive their guidance.
Symbolic action: Ask the spirits for guidance on a symbolic action that you can take to manifest your forever home. This could be a specific action that you are guided to take, or a ritual that you create in collaboration with the spirits.
Gratitude: End the ritual by expressing gratitude to the spirits for their guidance and support. Thank them for their wisdom and ask for their continued assistance in manifesting your forever home.
Remember, shamanistic practices are highly individual and personal. It is important to listen to your own inner guidance and to adapt the ritual to fit your own unique needs and experiences.

Alright, thank you. Now, can you tell me about Austin Osman Spare? What were his beliefs, and how were they a product of his time?
ChatGPT
Austin Osman Spare (1886-1956) was a British artist, magician, and occultist who is considered to be one of the key figures in the development of Chaos Magick. Spare's beliefs were heavily influenced by his upbringing in Victorian England, as well as his study of various esoteric traditions, including Theosophy, Kabbalah, and Tantra.
Spare rejected the traditional methods of ceremonial magic and instead developed his own unique system of magic, which he called "sigilization." This involved creating a personal symbol, or sigil, that represented a specific desire or intention, and then charging it with magical energy through intense visualization and meditation.
Spare believed that the unconscious mind was the key to accessing magical power, and that the use of symbols and sigils was a way to communicate directly with the unconscious. He also emphasized the importance of individualism and personal experience in magic, rather than following strict rules or dogma.
Spare's beliefs were a product of his time in several ways. Firstly, the Victorian era was marked by a fascination with spiritualism and the occult, as well as a growing interest in Eastern mysticism and esoteric traditions. Secondly, Spare was influenced by the work of Aleister Crowley, who was one of the most prominent occultists of the early 20th century and whose writings on magic emphasized the importance of individualism and self-discovery.
Finally, Spare's emphasis on the power of the unconscious mind and the use of symbols was influenced by the work of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, who were developing their theories of psychoanalysis around the same time. Spare's work can be seen as a bridge between the worlds of art, magic, and psychology, and his ideas continue to influence contemporary practitioners of Chaos Magick and other forms of occultism.

How would I make a Sigil for manifesting my forever home, using Sigilization?
ChatGPT
Here is a simple step-by-step guide on how to create a sigil for manifesting your forever home using sigilization:
Define your intention: Start by clearly defining your intention for your forever home. Write down a specific statement in the present tense that represents your desire, such as "I am living in my ideal forever home surrounded by nature and my loved ones."
Eliminate vowels and repeated letters: Remove all the vowels and any repeated letters from your intention statement. For example, the intention "I am living in my ideal forever home surrounded by nature and my loved ones" becomes "MLVNGDYHRSBFPTC."
Create the sigil: Using the remaining letters, create a unique symbol or design that represents your intention. This can be done by combining and modifying the letters in a creative way until you have a symbol that resonates with you. Be sure to keep the design simple and easy to draw.
Charge the sigil: Once you have created the sigil, it is time to charge it with your intention. This can be done through intense visualization, meditation, or other techniques that help you focus your intention and energy on the sigil. For example, you could meditate on the sigil while visualizing yourself living in your ideal forever home.
Release the sigil: Once you have charged the sigil, it is important to release it into the universe and let go of any attachment to the outcome. This can be done by destroying the sigil (e.g., burning it, burying it, tearing it up) or simply by forgetting about it and letting the universe take care of the manifestation process.
Remember, sigilization is a highly individualized practice, and there are many variations and techniques that can be used. The most important thing is to approach it with an open mind and a willingness to experiment and explore what works best for you.

Ok. So how does Chaos Theory relate to AI art?
ChatGPT
Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics that studies complex and unpredictable systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions. It is concerned with how small changes in a system can lead to significant differences in outcomes over time, and it has been used to explain a wide range of phenomena, from weather patterns to the behavior of stock markets.
In the context of AI art, chaos theory can be seen as relevant in two main ways. Firstly, chaos theory can be used as a theoretical framework for understanding the complex and unpredictable nature of generative art produced by AI systems. AI systems are often designed to generate art in a way that is not entirely predictable or controllable, and they can produce unexpected and novel outcomes that are difficult to replicate or fully understand.
Secondly, chaos theory can also be used as an inspiration for the creation of AI art. Artists and researchers working with AI systems can draw on principles of chaos theory to create generative systems that produce art that is dynamic, complex, and responsive to changes in the environment or input data. For example, AI artists can use chaos theory to create fractal patterns or other complex visual structures that are generated through iterative and recursive processes.
In both cases, the use of chaos theory in AI art highlights the potential for AI systems to create art that is innovative, unexpected, and dynamic, and that challenges traditional notions of authorship and control in the creative process. It also underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between artists, mathematicians, and computer scientists in exploring the intersection of art, mathematics, and technology.

Dissertation on Why Vyranoth Should Be the Dark Heart
In 10.0.7 (Return to the Forbidden Reach) a lore document was added in Farscale Cove, [A Song of the Depths], which details a prophecy concerning Azshara's return. In this document the Harbinger is established as a mysterious force working towards the same goals, and seemingly doing quite a bit of the footwork for Azshara to return from her current whereabouts.
The most relevant page to this post, however, is page 3:
The Harbinger speaks of a primal power that seeks the end of Order. Such rage can be bent to serve our ends. A hunger lost to the ages will be reclaimed. A dark heart left broken awaits the taking.
In 10.1.5 (Fractures in Time) we learn that Iridikron has allied with the Harbinger and uses an alliance with the Infinite Dragonflight to go into the past and reclaim Galakrond's hungering essence from his corpse. The very first thing we learn about Iridikron, in the very first cinematic of the expansion, is his association with the concept of Hunger ("And if Iridikron's hunger is unleashed..." — Tempest Unleashed cinematic.) I actually have a lot more to say on the concepts of Hunger/Earth/Dark Bargains etc but those don't belong in this post because this ain't about him.
So we know the primal power is the Incarnate[s], and we know the hunger lost to the ages is Galakrond via Iridikron. That leaves the dark heart: which, being the name of Patch 10.2.7, we're going to learn the identity of for certain very soon.
A Heart Left Broken
Vyranoth is a strong candidate for a number of reasons; some strong, some weak. Her title being The Frozenheart goes ahead and puts that word association on the table; the Vault of the Incarnates finale establishes her close relationship to Raszageth (while her brothers go on the warpath swearing vengeance, Vyranoth is the one who sounds horrified with what she's seen re:her sister being murdered right in front of her), and this is carried to the Secrets of the Reach cinematic where Vyranoth's opening lines are mourning Raszageth.
Later, we learn that Vyranoth and Alexstrasza used to be close. Really close. Their gal paling ended when Alexstrasza betrayed Vyranoth by condoning the kidnap of primal eggs to be altered in the Life Pools.
Vyranoth continues her association with regret and mourning during the situation with Lethka that leads to her killing her former trusted soldier.
Vyranoth says: Lethka. I failed her. [...] Vyranoth says: I know it [killing Lethka] was not easy. Suzska says: For us, or for you?
Vyranoth is also the only character to express any form of regret over Fyrakk, despite him having previously been so close to Alexstrasza she refused to execute him the first time around.
(We're not getting into anything from the War of the Scaleborn novel because frankly, the book and the game seem to be operating on entirely different continuities. Nothing exclusive to the book has been mentioned in the game and the two mediums contradict each other at nearly every opportunity, in addition to War of the Scaleborn massively contradicting Dawn of the Aspects which HAS lore that made it into the game. Apropos to mention that WotS has a whole bevy of Vyranoth Being Depressed content, though.)
So we have established the 'heart left broken' half.
A Dark Heart
The Secrets of the Reach cinematic establishes that Vyranoth knows what Aberrus is: Neltharion's secret laboratory. I'll also take a moment to point out that the Vessel (1) Iridikron takes from the Reach is identical in form to the Vessel (2) he uses to store Galakrond's Essence — the only difference is the presence of runes and cosmic energy in the latter, which could have been added at a later point if both vessels are intended to be the same item. Vyranoth takes Vessel (1) from Iridikron to decipher its contents, which leads us into...
Opening the Way, wherein Vyranoth draws enjoyment from watching Fyrakk make his way down to Aberrus knowing he'll consume the energy there & elates in the knowledge that soon the dracthyr will unleash the Aspects' 'darkest nightmare.' Iridikron tells her they have much still to do and the two depart together; he is also seen with a still-inert Vessel (1) again. Next we see Iridikron in 10.1.5 he has Vessel (2).
The Vessel is a very relevant point, I think, because even though it is Iridikron who locates it and holds onto it most of the time, it is Vyranoth who is established as messing around with it and decoding its contained information (and purpose?)
We also see Vyranoth in Fractures in Time, having a big blow-out argument with Alexstrasza who seemingly had invited her to talk. (Alexstrasza: "I knew you would come.") Their conversation amounts to Vyranoth rejecting Alexstrasza's apologies and calling her a liar.
When Alexstrasza attempts to compel Vyranoth to understand that Iridikron is not fighting for the good of dragonkind but for vengeance, Vyranoth replies that vengeance is the only thing left for them. (It's unclear if the Rough Edges cutscene is supposed to be before or after Dawn of the Infinite.)
This is an extremely sharp contrast to their very next cutscene together, where Vyranoth returns to Alexstrasza's side as an ally.
Something that stands out in both Rough Edges and Sound the Alarm, however, is that Vyranoth emotes extensively. In Secrets of the Reach, Opening the Way, Fury Incarnate, Larodar's Corruption, and A Crown of Flame, Vyranoth is shown as being fairly unemotive: her face just doesn't move much. When she's getting Fyrakk to lay off of Gerithus in Fury Incarnate is about the only time she expresses anything with her face and not just her voice.
It's only when she's talking to Alexstrasza that she seems compelled to express herself so strongly, and you can see when she turns her back on Alexstrasza in Sound the Alarm, when her face is visible only to the camera, that her 'on the verge of tears' expression falls away in less than a second.
Tumblr media
It's hard to interpret her abrupt change of heart as being genuine; to see Vyranoth abruptly go from 'yasss unleash the Aspects darkest nightmare. VENGEANCE IS ALL THAT REMAINS.' to 'my brother punched a teenager and corrupted a deer man so I'm going back to my ex-girlfriend who treats my people like second class citizens and is actively lying to me right now' and think that there isn't anything deeper at play.
Finally I think there is something to be said about the "deceived by those who squandered our birthright" line in A Crown of Flame playing over Alexstrasza and Vyranoth's exchange of Looks.
