[ID: A digital painting of the crow from Death's Door resting on a foggy fall night. They are sitting on a big pumpkin, and resting their feet on a smaller one. The light from their pink sword illuminates the scene. In the background, two forest spirits are playing in a small pile of leaves underneath a tree. /End ID]
I started working on this on October. I finished it today. There's a few things I don't like about it but overall I'm happy with how this came out! Especially the fog, which was a last minute addition and I never did anything like it before.
I also made myself a cooler signature. Yayyy
Alt versions right here I guess because Tumblr hates image posts
[ID: two images of the same picture as before, but with a low opacity messy sketch overlaid on top. In the first image the sketch has a slight chromatic aberration, while the second one is plain white. /End ID]
[ID: The first image but without the fog. /End ID]

Magical Forest ✨
~
Hey art friends,
Happy new year! May your year be filled with wonder, creativity and joy.
Here's a magical forest with a stream and tree spirits. There's a window portal in a tree to another realm.
I painted this with watercolor. I really like the blue tones and yellow lights.
Would you like to visit a forest like this ? :)
Have a wonderful day or night ☽
Sending you love and light ♡ ⁺༚✧*

Gave my Cryptid AU bois a more proper ref, showing better details than the silhouetted doodles I originally drew them in.
Just playing around with concepts and having fun designing them, I do like how they turned out.
Fun Facts:
- Two entities sharing same body. Differences are in their personality quirks, and Moon being the hunter and Sun can manipulate their surroundings such as moving forests paths to keep victims lost.
- Their switch is purely day/night cycle and not light based. Sun can be in darkness without changing into Moon as long is daytime and vice versa.
- Can't change facial expression, they emote through body language and the noises they copied.
- Can scrunch down in size, and stretch out extra tall as they please. You can hear their entire body creaking when stretching out tall to look over the tree tops.
- "leather like material" is skin. Is human skin. Is just decorative.
Do enjoy!

Papa Bois [Trinidadian folklore]
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is home to several large forests and deep woods. According to local folktales, an enigmatic being dwells in these woodlands and protects the beasts that live there. He is called Papa Bois (pronounced Papa Bow-ah), and he is the guardian of the forests.
He has a human-like body, although it is entirely covered with fur (compared with the fur of a donkey) and he is shorter than regular humans. A pair of horns adorn his head.
Papa Bois has a hoof for his left foot, but despite that he can run incredibly fast. If you see him, you must never stare at his hoof, for it is considered incredibly rude.
He sometimes transforms into a deer to lure hunters into the heart of the forest. He then appears before them in his true form to scare them and give them a warning, before disappearing. Generally speaking, you don’t need to be afraid when encountering Papa Bois.

“Information about Local Folk Characters” from The Heritage Library, I did not find the author but the text is archived here.

None of those are particularly good sources, but the story was ‘confirmed’ to me by a native Trinidadian. Still, I hope to back it up with a written source one of these days.
