seventeen was always conniving, even in childhood up to her teen years. she lied to get herself in and out of everything. people had attempted to teach her a lesson on more than too many occasions, but it more or less kinda soured her impression of everyone around her even more, because she was just never satisfied with anything. it’s hard to say she was misunderstood, cause she really did lack consideration for others, but in a way, that’s how she felt. but her slyness eventually turned into a skill she was proud of.

she was like, 14, when she met hannah. and despite her clear devotion to the sorceress’s craft, it took a lot of manipulating in order to get to apprentice status. at the time, hannah was still very much a shrewd, lone wolf. she had been on her own, outside of her appropriate era for nearly 7 years (potentially longer), taking and doing things for herself. but apart from that, she just did not trust anyone, and really how could she. but seventeen’s naïveté was one of the reasons she heard her out. seventeen was cunning, and /really good/ at it, but her biggest set back was that, to hannah, her immaturity was very easy to catch. hannah felt less threatened by her for that fact.

by then, seventeen had heard the rumors about the sorceress. this was her destiny too. and hannah will need a successor, someone who’s committed, and willing to benefit her at every turn. hannah would, and has cruelly admitted, she really doesn’t need some random kid for help. she mostly roamed and screwed around for the time she lived in this era, and the concept of accumulating all magic across the timeline was just a vengeful thought she didn’t have the energy to actually do yet.

but it was super weird, this kid. /this random kid who vaguely knows her as this cruel, mysterious weirdo/, was more than excited by her work. no adults nor kids in her era were ever this ecstatic to understand her or her magic. if anything, they quickly ridiculed her, and eventually disowned her. something about seventeen moved her in that regard. reluctantly, she put it into perspective and accepted her. in that moment, seventeen might’ve been patting herself on the back for how well she played her, but deep down, she really felt like things were falling into place as well.
