Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)
"Wes. Wes! How can we stop him?"
"I think the only way to stop him is to make another movie."
#Wes Craven's New Nightmare#Freddython#A Nightmare on Elm Street 7#slasher film#Horror imagery#Wes Craven#Heather Langenkamp#Miko Hughes#David Newsom#Tracy Middendorf#Robert Englund#Sam Rubin#Marianne Maddalena#Tuesday Knight#John Saxon#Fran Bennett#Tamara Mark#Tina Vail#J. Peter Robinson#belatedly finishing up my freddython so i can get started on the Jasoniad (and presumably be very disappointed by their eventual melding in#freddy vs jason). not sure why i put this off for so long actually‚ bc it's kind of everything i was looking for in a later Elm Street#sequel (and everything the previous couple of films weren't): an original idea‚ a new take on the mythos. a year or so before Scream‚ Wes#dips his toe in meta narrative by making a film about making a new Freddy film; cue lots of fun appearances by actors playing themselves#including Langenkamp giving quite possibly her best performance in the series. this is much more than knowing winks tho; it also goes back#to basics‚ keeping Freddy largely offscreen until the final showdown‚ building up tension through a series of unsettling fake outs and#misdirections. Englund has a lot of fun playing Englund‚ and I actually like the redesigned Freddy (tho it appears to be a source of#controversy in many of the reviews i read on letterboxd). a very fun and fitting way to end the series (kind of) (obviously he came back)#and oh what i wouldn't give to be beautiful widow Langenkamp‚ comforted by the strong arms of John Saxon

Hollywood and Elm Part 6 - Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)
In today's review, I find dreams and nightmares lurk beyond the cinema screen. As I attempt a #positive review of Wes Craven's New Nightmare #HeatherLangenkamp #RobertEnglund #MikoHughes #JohnSaxon #TracyMiddendorf #DavidNewsom #FranBennett #WesCraven
With the act of creation, you’re letting yourself be exposed. Sometimes this can lead to para-social relationships, but in some cases, this can lead to tragedy as those who cannot discern between fiction and reality take matters into their own hands. In 1994, Heather herself had the veil broken, having to face the mythical killer that got the best of her, as the lines between fiction and reality…

HIII MIA 17 and 25 for the 📚 asks also how did u like giovanni’s room !!!
EEEEEE HIIIII EILA HOW ARE YOUUUU <333
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
it took me a while to get through the vanishing half by brit bennett but ended up lovinggg it, also i thought 2001: a space odyssey was going to be boring but i loved the way it read (honourable mention to the joy luck club too!)
25. What reading goals do you have for next year?
i originally started this year with to read 24 books/5,000 pages (on storygraph you can set a goal for books and a goal for pages is what i mean) but 24 ended up being too much so depending on how next year goes i’m reaching for 15 books and 5,000 pages ^-^
alsooo i liked giovanni’s room!! i just finished it today so i’m still trying to gather my thoughts around it but i loved the way the characters and their complexities were written!! the more i think about how the internal turmoil was described the more i love it because it the turmoil literally sounded the same way i do when i spend too much time alone in my room
but also i was reading this actively trying to not relate my own experience to the characters because of those quotes i’ll paraphrase of reading being a door, not a mirror (fran lebowitz) and doing a disservice to the characters by inhabiting them with your own emotions (toni morrison)
