The Snow Queen❄️

My illustration of The Snow Queen fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen for "The Shadow Chronicles" art book, a charity project created to gather funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As always, I hesitate before posting non fan art works here, though I guess this can be considered fan art of a very old fairy tale? Or rather my own interpretation of the classic characters. It is quite disheartening when these don't get many views and interactions, but that's the reality of social media. Since I am new here, I have to rely on fan art to gain a following, but then I don't have the time to work on any fan art because of the electricity blackouts we're experiencing again because of russia constantly bombing our energy infrastructure. But as long as I have access to the internet, I will share my art, because we are still here and we shall remain.

Just a few ideas , like what if all those times Darius was being mean to Jaron in The Captive Kingdom was really because he wanted Jaron to leave Belland for his own good? Kind of like how Jaron at times drive people away by being mean to them for their own good. I mean it seemed to me at times Darius was pretending to believe Strick and never really thought those accusations were true cause in the end he could not pass judgement in the trial. He even said he knew what Jaron was capable of. Also when Jaron saw Darius first time talking to Trea, Darius did say he wished Jaron would not set foot on Belland.

Also at times when Darius said he wanted to be king especially when he offered Jaron to be his captain, it felt like Darius did not want Jaron to be King because he did not want Jaron to get hurt because by that time he had seen the injuries Jaron had. Even in the False Prince book we were told Darius defended Jaron to let him have a life Darius himself could not have which meant Darius wanted Jaron to have a freedom ( that chapter was written in third person format) and being King gives you anything but freedom. We could have got more of it and how good book 4 would have been if the plot was executed that way. I don’t know why I feel like this about them but maybe it's because of the times Jaron had talked of Darius in the books or his past with him and because of that one short story and how Darius turned out in the end of book 4 and then in book 5, the brothers' angst always gets me. Actually Jaron’s past angst always gets me the most in the books.

I also always thought Jaron and Darius' relationship to be kind of a little bit of like Elsa and Anna from frozen because how Jaron and Darius had to live separately for years like those sisters mostly because of parents in both cases. Also in frozen I noticed Anna thought of Elsa as the perfect girl most of the times even in the books she does kind of, like how Jaron thinks Darius to be perfect but in the end in both cases the elder siblings have flaws. Also in frozen 2 Elsa gave the throne to her younger sister Anna though Elsa was always trained to be queen and in the end of Captive Kingdom Darius did the same letting Jaron keep the throne. I know circumstances were different and all but the similarities get me all the time.

I know Jaron and Darius are not real siblings but I never liked that plot twist because I never liked Conner and we already have Fink as Jaron's adopted brother, so I just ignore it. They are real brothers by blood to me.

Also another thing that song of frozen 2," The next right thing", is something that would suit Jaron when he comes back to the castle to become prince again in Book 1 . That one part,

"And with the dawn, what comes then

When it's clear that everything will never be the same again?

Then I'll make the choice

To hear that voice

And do the next right thing",

This part gets me a lot and it suits Jaron/Sage in Book 1 and maybe during Book 3 as well.

The most value I ever got out of a game was with Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. The campaign alone was enough to justify the price but then factor in all the hours spent playing Custom Games. So much fun 👏
