Sanitization of language in the name of appeasing advertisers is killing the internet (among other issues related to sanitization to make things "corporate-friendly"). I know it's especially bad on TikTok, but I watch a lot of YouTube and so many people have resorted to having to say shit like "unalive themselves," censor titles, censor words in the video by muting them, etc so their videos don't get demonetized or age-restricted.

I fucking hate advertisers. Death to all of them.

Maybe there just shouldn't be an attention economy in the first place. Maybe a price should not be placed on my time and interest, and my access to information and my friends should be through interest forums maintained by volunteers, user-hosted open source communication protocols, and blogs. Maybe it's actually a bad thing that this is the only way to interact with almost anyone through the internet, and if nobody had come up with a way to finance it that would be better, actually.

Meta (facebook / instagram/ threads) seems to have made their advertising settings as useless and laggy as possible so that going on to change what types of ads it shows me takes as long as possible. it doesn’t scroll properly, loads like shit and seems to be barely responsive at times. it should NOT be so difficult to have control over our online spaces. I hate advertising in general but i’ve accepted that it’s going to be present almost anywhere i go irl or online, but it could at least give me a little control of the type of shit being pushed into my face.

I don’t WANT to see weight loss apps or programs or diets pushed on my feed in a world where hating your body is forced on us. i don’t want to see shit advertised by groups that don’t believe in my rights as a person. i don’t want to see ads for fucking real estate I’ll never afford.

and yea. adblocks are a thing for browsers but not everyone has access to them. i have them on my computer but not my phone. that’s not the point though.

I hate the fact that all the internet has been ruined by shitty ads and apps trying to get the most gullible people to click for their own ad infested free game on i pad and because all of these money hungry companies and groups are clawing at each other and now they're now going 'you heard of fake apps that suck ass and look ugly but have you heard of MY fake app that sucks ass and looks ugly' like oil salesmen who unionized to sell the same snake oil but without competition so they can all share the profits.

Especially on like YouTube where I keep seeing those stupid 'playing fake games to see if they're real' with like porn level acting. And I have no proff of this but I swear all these actors are outsourced from different countries cause I've been picking up on the speech of these ads and it makes my skin crawl to know these actors are being paid dirty money to work and may be exploitated for their acting. It's fucking disgusting. Fuck advertisements on the internet I don't want be surrounded by flashing lights for shit I could care less.

Not to mention the state of shit on youtube like Elsa Gate, contenting farming, the ridiculous rise of scam advertisements that pop up everywhere you look, it's sucks it straight up sucks so badly and that's only youtube. Shit goes so deep across the web.
