Here's what I have in ublock that seems to work. It leaves a little gap between the icons in the top corner, but its better than nothing.

one small ad screen consumes more energy than 3 average british homes annualy, (and there are rougly 30.000 in Britain alone) and online advertising uses up to 50x more of the CPU power than an actual website. also for an ad campaign to get just one purchase it has to show the ad 1 MILLION times. just imagine how much energy is needed for a company to get normal amounts of sales..

I hate the constant inescapable barrage of advertisements and promotional material in the modern day for sooo many reasons but a big one is how difficult it makes it to avoid triggering content.

Despite the fact that my Google ad sensitive content settings specifically has it set to "I do not want to see content regarding diet or weight loss", because the data collected on me knows I am Not Skinny™, I am still subjected to nearly every single ad on any Google site being for weight loss or diet products. I've had YouTube videos with 2 ads at the beginning, 2 at the end, and multiple midrolls, have literally every single ad be for fucking noom or ww or some other "you're fat and you suck fix it" bullshit And non Google apps or sites are even worse.

When I scroll through tiktok every second or third ad is for weight loss and when you get an ad on tiktok every few videos it REALLY adds up quickly, even if I just immediately scroll past I still had to see it. I have a very long history with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and self hatred and when I'm trying to get better it can be really upsetting and keeps setting me back to have to see this and I can't avoid it seemingly no matter what I do.

Many people have said this before me but I am absolutely disgusted at how intrusive ads are in your day to day life.

I've recently gotten back into casual mobile games and of course there's an ad break after every action you take. Close a window? Ad. Need some more currency? Ad. Get to the next level? Ad.

It's gotten to the point where even the main advertising point is the lack of ads, like:

"Play our game please! It has literally no ads! What is the game about? Who cares, you probably won't actually get to interact with the advertised feature, the important thing is that it has ABSOLUTELY NO ADS!!! ZERO!!!"

And you are interested, because you just want to find a refuge from the capitalist hellscape you live in. And you click in the download page. (Don't worry, you'll be taken there anyway, even if you clicked on the X).

I am just tired. There is no way to escape. You can't even let the ad play out and go do something else, you have to constantly tap skip, then skip the next ad and go to the download page then back to the ad and then maybe you can finally close it. You are forced to look at it. You have the shitty animatic of single mothers stranded in the rain with a sick baby or the people miserably failing at a basic game, daring you to do better. You have to remember the name.

I am tired.

I am angry and confused that "pay to get rid of us" is an acceptable and essential business model. That every bit of your data fuels thousands and thousands of campaigns.

This is, of course, just the mobile gaming experience, but it's everywhere, and children are so vulnerable to it nowadays and it's all absolutely disgusting.

im so so done rn with disney's tayler swift and x-men ads. their unskippable, no warning, and both have a shit ton of flashing lights. and i'm lucky in his case, it only triggers migraines for me!

Hulu is genuinely one of the worst subscriptions you can have when it comes to ads. Because why am I paying for a service and still receiving ads? Why do I watch a 30 second ad before the start of an episode and then not even 2 minutes in, I'm given another set of ads that is 1:30? And then another ad break midway through a 23 minute episode?
