I saw your message on the post about webcomics and you mentioned you were an avid reader of various webcomics. Do you have a top 10 to look at?
Top ten? Ugh... that's hard... hmmm...
Comics I never stopped keeping up with despite it being difficult or inconvenient:
Sluggy Freelance - This will not be for everyone, Pete's art isn't very good at first, but it gets better pretty quickly. It has a twenty-six year archive though so dive in at your own time risk. Very mixed between "days in the lives of a pair of nerd pals" and "weird high adventure". Schlock Mercenary - Another that starts not so very pretty art wise, but Howard gets better fast. It has a roughly twenty year seven day a week archive that never missed an update, but Schlock Mercenary has ended so you will eventually catch up. Follows the trials and tribulations (and exhultations) of a space mercenary company and it's titular Sergeant who looks like a pile of poo... the comic dumps the crude humour pretty quickly. Girl Genius - The art was starts good and gets better, but then Phil Folio was n artist and a comic artist for decades before he started on Girl Genius. It also has a twenty-one year archive, but it only updates Mon-Wed-Fri so it's not as deep as the above two. Consistently good story about a gaslamp hero all the way through, but it has side-comic interruptions which have only tangential relationships with the main story.
Freefall - Decent consistent art throughout. Twenty-five year archive, but it's also Mon-Wed-Fri, so it's also not too bad to get into to. Follow the adventures of a solo rapscallion alien in human space and his AI sidekicks (a robot and upraised wolf). Deals deeply with AI rights and what it means to be "human".
Atomic Robo - Written by Brian Clevinger of 8-Bit Theater fame and arted by Scott Wegener of... well Atomic Robo fame (also some Marvel comics, but they're not as important). It's hard to say how deep the archive is as it's organized like a series of comic books, because it was originally issued as comics, but eventually went online to spread readership. There are currently roughly 80 comics, so that's the archive. It follows the adventure of the titular Atomic Robo and his team of fighting Action Scientists as they repeatedly act to save the world from various mad and sometimes just angry scientists.
Other comics I follow, some more recent, some older, all current:
Fantasy/D&D webcomics: The Abominable Charles Christopher; Handbook of Heroes; Rusty & Co; Fairmeadows, Order of the Stick; Swords; Friendship is Dragons; Sunderhunt; Dungeon Doodles; Sunderhunt; The Littlest Warrior; Prequel†; Use Sword on Monster†; Oglaf‡ Sci-Fi and Post-Apoc webcomics: Kill Six Billion Demons‡; Ten Thousand Earth Shattering Blows; Darth & Droids; Bicycle Boy; Rising Sand, Blue Milk Special†; Outsider†, PS238†
Slice of Life/Meta-commentary on gaming culture webcomics: Girls and Slingshots; Something Positive, Full Frontal Nerdity; Penny Arcade
Comics that have ended because they are now print, but look them up if you can because they were awesome: Sin Titulo; Templar, Arizona I was going to put The Abominable Charles Christopher here too, but then I remembered it's been updating lately and I really need to catch back up with it ...
† Sporadic or slow update "schedule". ‡ NOT SAFE FOR WORK

I wrote this eleven years ago. I think last week’s Strange New Worlds and Discovery season 3 prove I’m right.

Lord willing.
Let's get those numbers up!
Anyone interested in reviews of upcoming comics? In-depth discussions of trade paperbacks? How about general discussions of the comics / film industries and pop culture altogether?
Seriously please check out Major Spoilers, they just released their ELEVEN-HUNDREDTH issue!
I've been a Loyal Listener since 2009, and whole heatedly believe there is something for everyone even remotely interested in comics, film, tv, and full frontal nerdity.
If our podcast had the numbers these right wing podcasts have, CNN would have a nightly feature about the state of Batman comics.
#now I have to go make a recommended listening list for all my favorite shows under the MSP network#podcasts#podcasting#awesome artists

In which I put on my anorak
It is established that the events of episode 10 of the new adaptation of Fruits Basket take place in the year of the rabbit. So, 1999, 2011, 2023, and so on at 12-year intervals.
It’s also established in episode 10, that Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday. Recent years where that took place were 2004, 2009, 2015, then in the future in 2026, 2032, 2037, 2043, 2054, and at regular intervals after that.
The last time that Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday in the year of the rabbit was 1987. Obviously, the current series can’t be set in 1987, what with so many pieces of modern technology around.
So when is the next time that Valentine’s Day will be on a Saturday in the year of the rabbit? February 14, 2071.
So, there are three possible conclusions:
The 2019 Fruits Basket anime is set over 50 years in the future, and that future world looks nigh-identical to 2019-era Japan.
The 2019 Fruits Basket anime is set in an alternate universe where the year 2019 (or 2020) *is* the year of the rabbit, and February 14, 2019 (or 2020) *is* a Saturday.
Even though the manga was very much set in a particular year (February 14, 1999 was a Sunday, and the manga is consistent with that date), the new anime adaptation is not concerned with this sort of calendrical consistency, and I’m likely the only person in the entire world who bothered to figure this out because I’m a massive, massive nerd. (Or stated another way, “I should really just relax.”)

Quote
[The nerdiest thing I've done:] ‘Solved Rubik's Cube in 1981’. It's like you're a hipster–nerd hybrid. Only half of your glasses are ironic. ‘Over three months during the summer.’ That's before there were instructions. That's so good. You're like, ‘Well, I solved the Rubik's Cube before it was cool.’ Which is technically true for anyone who's ever solved the Rubik's Cube.

I normally don’t pay much heed to vanity “holidays”, unless it’s something funny like International Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19), something yummy like National Cheesecake Day (July 30), or something ridiculous like World Beard Day (this year it’s on September 1). (Don’t get me wrong, I love beards and I tend to find bearded men to be incredibly attractive, but color me surprised to find…

Better Off Ted Sentence Meme - Goodbye, Mr. Chips
“Hey, somebody prayed a window open on the twentieth floor. Wanna go scare the crap out of floors one through nineteen?”
“I have to go to human resources. They made a mistake on my new ID badge.”
“It’s not make people think someone jumped off the roof funny, but it’s still pretty funny.”
“I can fix any ID with a razor blade and some whiteout. Trust me. I’ve been twenty one since I was fifteen.”
“You love rules. You should marry a rule, and have little rule children, and build a house made of rules.”
“I think I know my last name. It’s the one thing my father and I agree on.”
“I don’t like it down there. It’s chilly, the people are odd and it smells like science.”
“If you have any problems, any at all, you come see me. Although that would be a huge admission of failure on your part.”
“You’re weak and have no leadership qualities.”
“I can lead. Maybe you’re just a crappy follower did you ever think of that?”
“How do you know if two people have chemistry?”
“How do you manage all those scientists with their egos, and bickering, and full frontal nerdity?”
“Let’s break some rules. Let’s crash it up.”
“But you always said breaking rules was bad,”
“Did you disable your stupid question filter?”
“None of this would have happened if it weren’t for you.”
“You stepped up, that’s what leaders do.”
“Turns out it’s easy to lead when it’s for something you care about.”
“You better come back in one piece. You’re my ride home.”
“What changed your mind about breaking the rules?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I never break the rules.”

This specific design is a t-shirt from cartoonist Aaron Williams, writer and artist of Nodwick, PS238, and Full Frontal Nerdity. I know because I bought one long ago. He's a good dude, you should support him.

Hello Mischief Makers wherever you may be
If your plans go wrong,
as they sometimes will,
& the hours seem long as you climb the hill;
Remember,
my friend,
'tis a part you play.
You'll find in the end a brighter day.

If anyone is interested...
I am going to take a few hours off from the Apocalypse on Saturday the 22nd of April and live Tweet both Star Trek Beyond and Rogue One. If the popcorn holds out, I might do Star Wars too (I’m old, that’s what I call “A New Hope”). If anyone would like to join me it will be 10am PST for Beyond, then 1pm PST for Rogue One. I promise no great insights, but a lot of love for both movies, while still picking at the occasional nit. My twitter is also weerd1. Hope to see you there.

Changing things up:
I have decided it will take too long to sum up everything for the past three weeks so I’m going to highlight the big things, my thoughts, feelings, etc.
Lots of minute by minute scheduling! I had to get immunizations and freaked out, but I survived. I’ve been getting them every week, with this week being the first where I didn’t need any. I’m becoming a pro now.
During Orientation we had a panel called “Political Economic Situation in Moldova” and the person from the embassy that came to speak to us was an RPCV which I think is cool! I learned a bit and was happy that was one of the topics discussed. More language classes, more meetings about EE.
We had a cultural dinner! It was cool! They brought a group in where they sang and danced! Then they made a big group of people to dance with and I went up! It was a lot of fun. For the dinner we were given classical Moldovan Masa, which included mamaliga which is similar to polenta but you're supposed to put sour cream and brânză on it.
There was a Trainee run trivia night! My team came in second place. Sad. It was kinda my fault but not 100%. Our team name was created by Emily, “Full Frontal Nerdity”. I thought it was punny.
Finally, on 10 June, we were off to our host families!! I had no idea what to expect! I can’t say my exact location but I’m in Strașeni Raion. A wonderful village with a family of three, Liliana, Ana-Maria, and Danu. We have a bunch of chicken, a goat, and a beautiful, bountiful garden. I have a dog, Lupi. She’s a guard dog but she has liked me since the first minute, which is a thankful thing. The other day we got a new member of the family, Spidey, he’s a kitten! So adorable and loves to climb my leg at dinner.
I live very close to the school, maybe a ten minute walk. The school is where we do our technical sessions and language lessons everyday. We go to school six days a week, with one day being Hub Site, where all of the trainees come together for....training. Saturdays are also just language class for four and a half hours. Sundays are the day to rest.
That pretty much sums up everything I can remember at the moment, if you have any questions please send them my way and I will try to explain and elaborate more!
