he would take you to so many fun places!!

Your dates would consist of going bowling together, theme parks, a walk in the park — you can count on having a fun time with heeseung!

He would just want to impress you );

He’s be always so attentive to you and remember even the littlest of details about you

You’d be in a shop together looking around and he’ll tap your shoulder, showing you a lace shirt that you instantly fall in love with

It’s just your style!

You’d ask him how he knew you would like it, to which he would simply mumble  with, “you told me a few months ago that you like shirts like this.”

You’d just stand in shock like :ooo

Not even you remember telling him that ):

Please he loves you so much, if it’s something that you tell him you like or don’t like, he’ll immediately store it in his memory! He wants to know so much more about you 🥺

Your dates are definitely what you look forward to whenever you see him!!

As much as you love fun day outs with him, you also love your chiller night dates at him <3

Meeting each other late at night after practice? A must!! No way can you let your hee go home alone when he’s the last leaving the practice room after a long day ):<

You would often surprise him by showing up at belift at ungodly hours, and as much as he would scold you with a light frown for coming to see him when it’s already half past midnight,,

You still always catch that small little smile he has whenever you do surprise him hehe

to be aware of just the fact that youre there? is enough for him. you ground him and its especially those spontaneous dates youll throw upon him and inevitably show him without the words uttered that you care for him and you love him? 

those are secretley his fave (: but he doesnt have to tell you that - youve already guessed :D

But at the same time on those late night after-practice dates he just wants to make sure that you’re not staying up too late all the time just to make sure he’s doing okay after practice, his y/nnie needs their sleep too ):

And what you’ll do together? Eat ramen of course!!

Although these little late night dates with him usually dont last no longer than an hour, he still treasures them so dearly in his heart ):

Hee sometimes needs a lot of love and assurance, even if he doesn’t mention it

And you’re the best at making him feel better instantly 🥺

but we seriously cant forget about your daytime dates too! each date of yours is always filled with so so many jokes and giggles that your hearts burn with longing for the other whenever you part ways ):

i can see that he’ll even store the memory of your dates even weeks after they’ve happened - he’ll store those memories of you; all in his heart (and the polaroid he took of you in the back of his phonecase 😳) and tucked close.

as for dates, to me he seems the type to be into really spontaneous and random things!! He’d love going somewhere fun or just simply randomly travelling with you without a destination!

He especially loves to sneak out of the dorm late at night and meet you at you and his favourite park.

It’s located at the top of a really tall hill, and you’ll both spend hours sitting on the swings, chatting away with little care for the rest of the world or the time as you both simply giggle at each other’s jokes and contentedly talk about anything and everything; watching the city lights glow from hundreds of metres below you

He’d offer you his jacket when the temperature drops by a few degrees suddenly

You’d be like no!! It’s okay you should also stay warm, I’m okay 🥺

But then because he is such a sweetheart he’d huff and sit next to you on the swing, making the single-seater far too cramped as he tries to supply you with his body heat if that’s the only way that you’ll accept not freezing to death 😠

But then you’ll both slip due to there not being enough space for both of you on the wing, and your both fall flat down on your butts lmao

You’d both freeze, staring at each other blankly on the floor

but then you’d both crack up and laugh for the longest time — hushing each other in-between giggles from the fear of maybe you were being a bit too loud and could wake some people up?

But then you’d both fall into giggling messes once again as you blame each other for causing the other to fall down ):

You’d eventually sit together huddled on a bench, sitting in silence and simply staring out at seoul’s twinkling night lights as you share his leather jacket: heavy and warm as it drapes across you and his’ shoulders

But eventually you’d both finally head home! — your eyelids soon growing too heavy and both of you afraid of accidentally falling asleep at a park at 1am lmfao

idk why but i can just see a lot of late-night dates with jake,, such as

baking cookies together at 1am???? probably has happened twice already in your relationship aha 😁

honestly you both spend so much time together casually that you end up arguing on whether that time where he randomly showed up at your house wanting to make relationship bracelets together was really a date or not lmao

he is also so <3 so incredibly sweet too though uGH. he is a sweetheart and like heeseung he will remember every little detail of you which will be useful for when he comes up with more date ideas in the future (

on dates such as eating at a restaurant together he will always bring you flowers like the gentleman he is.

it’s kinda funny because when youre both on a date together alone with no other people around you both become complete crackheads

but when meeting in front of others he acts so mature and serious suddenly lmao ?? 

but honestly he just trusts and loves you so so much that he doesnt even feel like he needs to act a certain way or try to become someone complteley different on a date just to impress you

With jay, shopping dates ??? yes of course (;

he’d simply love taking you out either down a road with many well-known clothing brands or maybe even the mall, entering several clothing stores with you

he never mentions it, but its obvious how much he simply adores seeing you wear the clothes he picks out for you :D

oh and matching couple outfits are obviously always chosen whenever you go out on these fashion dates!!

he will pick out a selection of items he thinks will look good on you, and - to admit it to himself: he does a pretty good damn job

tell me why this boy will get so flustered whenever he sees you walk out of the changing room,, looking so pretty in what he chose for you ??

he’d also one day surprise you on a date with matching couple bracelets :D

you’ll get so excited and he’ll get so shy and try to hide his smile as you compliment how good his sense of style is !! and as much as he denies the fact that he’s blushing you luckily do manage to snap some pics as evidence of the rosy colour in his cheeks hehe

and especially earlier on in the relationship, he’ll always try his best and prepare cute little dates for you both )): and the members would tease him to DEATH for how unbelievably soft and considerate he is when doing things for you when he is so cranky towards them lmfao

chill dates (:

walking in the park together, getting ice cream, going for late night drives and listening to music together </3 with jay it never has to be complicated

Just as long as he gets to be with you, talk with you and touch you then that’s more than enough for him (: he just likes to be in your company

and Idk why I can just see this but he wILL have playground dates with you. dont question it

Because like ?? hanging out on the swings or climbing frame of a kids park at 11PM when there’s no one else there but you both?? Talking and swinging quietly next to each other? very romantic to me hmm

he will stare at you as he silently swings a back and forth a little; brushing the hair out of your face and looking at you with so so much love in his eyes it’s unbelievable

he especially loves just relaxing with you. watching a show on the tv together while cuddling and staying close to each other is something he loves

hearing your giggles and listening to you talk while engaging in teasing banter where he’ll pretend to think the things you say are stupid by scoffing and rolling his eyes when in reality his heart is swelling and he’s trying so hard not to laugh at how cute you are?

he’ll constantly try to impress you and will be willing to try so many different things with you

i can see him as either being openly interested about going on typical couple dates together such as painting or eating at romantic restaurants,, or every time you mention something of the sort he’ll be groaning at yet another mention of the ‘couple bucket list’ you had created lol

but actually he’s secretly really excited for that couple mug-painting session you booked for you both. but he will never tell you that 😳

in conclusion, with jay it really never has to be something complex for you both to enjoy your dates <3 he just loves being in your company, even if its one of those nights where you both share no words between the cuddling and content sighs and various little soft kisses he presses to your forehead.

he’d text you the day before your anniversary telling you to expect to go on a date with him the day after and to dress up prettily :D

he’d wake up super early on the day of the date, preparing all of your favourite foods and meals into a cute lil basket ):

and when you finally both meet at a really rEALLY pretty secluded area that you somehow had no idea existed despite you living in the area for so long - you’d maybe start tearing up?? 

because your boyfriend is so so sweet and you never saw this coming from him at all ): 

and he’d just stand there shyly in front of the picnic he set up, hand at the back of his head and looking down; cute lil blush tainting his cheeks from how nervous he is!

but then you’d run over and give him a big, big hug, exxclaiming how much you appreciate what he did for you and how youre so so incredibly sorry for not bringing him something as well to celebrate your anniversary (you were dying inside fo guilt please!! how could u forget to get him something when he went out of his way like this for you )):  )

but he’d simply shake his head, smiling and not minding at all

because if he gets to see you happy, gets to see those twinkling eyes of yours that just stare up at him with so so much love before bringing him in for a sweet kiss - then he simply doesnt mind at all.

film/drama marathons are also something that you both do very very often as a date! he loves it when you hug him tight and throw a leg over his as you both lie down in his dorm bed/your bed, watching something on your laptop

he is very very cuddly and whenever you both do have cuddle dates/sessions (which is all the time btw) he’ll like it when you absentmindedly play with his fingers or stroke your hands through his hair soothingly

and then he’ll complain and whine when you stop lmao

seriously though, without a question if either of you meet at either his dorm or your house - its always:  ‘so what are we gonna watch?’

he also likes doing very very cute couple-y activities with you! of course he does,, youre his baby ):

and has it been mentioned yet that you’ll go on food dates? this is a very obvious date you both do very often !! 

going to food markets and trying out different street foods from different vendors? yes.

having mini dates at the korean convinience store late at night where you’ll both sit by the window and eat tteokbokki & ramen together? yes.

its all honestly really really chill, but he also knows when to be serious when he needs to (:

he’ll take you out to the your favourite restaurants often!

and whenever youre celebrating something he’ll take you to a really good and famous restaurant with mouth-watering food, and you’ll be left wondering for the longest time how on earth he managed to get a seat in since its always so booked

or ordering take-out is good too :D

in conclusion (because i just realised how long this is help 😭): dates with sunoo are always a variety of fun activities which always leave you feeling tired yet so, so happy and content at the end of the day !!

Jungwon

Since you both go to the same school, a lot of your little dates are actually spent there

He’s pretty shy with you at times,, but when you’re both alone it’s then that dates with him are usually so so goofy and silly; days filled with his teasing and your eye rolls and giggles.

Meeting at the rooftop before school to simply talk and giggle and drink chocolate milk? Yes.

Staying after school for small study sessions in the library? Yes.

With jungwon, you’re not able to see him as much between school and him being an idol, so every little moment together means so much to both of you ):

To me jungwon also seems like a cuddler!!! cause like?? Have you seen him ?? Tell me he doesn’t look so soft 

So, dates at home when he’s free where you can both cuddle together in your bed while eating and doing homework? They’re so so cosy,, and definitely your favourite kinda dates!! not to mention that your parents absolutely adore him too

With jungwon, lots of lil spontaneous dates are definitely his and yours trademark (‘:

He’ll turn up at your house randomly with a grin and dimple poking at his cheek, holding a bag of convenience store food and asking you if you want to go on a date with him even if it’s 10pm and dark outside lmfao

And then he’ll take you to an arcade!

You’ll be the only ones there and he’s keep flexing about how he’s going to win you this cat plush from the claw machine because he says it looks like him

He’d try several times and end up spending almost 8,000 won on the machine trying to win you this plush and at this point he’s already making up several excuses about how oh, ‘it’s rigged’ or ‘give me one more chance I will get it this time!!’

You’d giggle at how he grows flustered, gently asking him if you could have a go for fun, sighing and with him and agreeing on the fact that the claw machine is definitely rigged

You’d complain together; scolding the machine and asking it to please be nice and stop ruining your date when it’s then that the claw actually picks up a plush and you’re both like ;oo

You’d both stay stood in shock as the cat plush is dropped into the receiving box, before laughing loudly

He’d stand there flustered, blush tainting his cheek before he just walks away 🚶🏻‍♂️

You’d quickly pick up the cat plush and chase after him, giggles tumbling out your lips

and uhm after that you beTTER go check up on your boy and see if his ego wasnt too damaged by that 😤

so of course you’d wrap your arms around him from behind, tucking your face into the back of his neck ): and pressing gentle kisses where you know he’s ticklish until he finally relents, a small grin and dimple lighting up his face

and phEW because you thought he was upset ): but he laughs and says youre better at the claw machine than he is so,, all good dont worry !! 🥺

It’d end up being him taking the cat plush home, which you both name ‘jungwon-two’ because of how much it actually looks like him 😭

Expect many references and inside jokes to that date and jungwon-two in the future

and tbh you love dates with won so so much. theyre so fun plus they’re always secret.

and whenever you’re out doing whatever the hell you both get up to,

It’s like there is no one else in the world. It’s just you, and him, and the blooming you both feel in your chests.

Niki

I don’t know but I can just see niki as being so romantic

You’re both young, and although niki is the biggest dork and always likes to play around and make jokes 24/7 - he’s also so mature compared to the other boys your age

So would he take you out to a date where he’d set up classically romantic candles and rose petals for you both to eat at for your 1 month anniversary? Yes ):

And you’d be so speechless and shocked as you blush quietly and thank him before he‘s accidentally knocking over his glass of water all over the table cloth and you’re laughing out loud

But expect every other date with him to be filled with so so much food and comfort!

He’d feel so comfy around you, and really the only word he thinks is perfectly able to describe you is home. He thinks you feel like home to him.

So he’d show you all of this favourite things, the things closest to his heart and you can’t help but feel your own heart clench at how much you adore this boy

He’d take you out to traditional Japanese restaurants and show you his favourite foods from back home and teach you the customs of how to eat sushi

You’d 100% be so so interested and excited whenever he reveals to you a vulnerable part of him, and he’d stare at you so lovingly as he kisses your cheek, blushing and smiling like the 15 year old he is

You claim you can’t dance to save your life LMFAO (or maybe you can 😳?) but he only grins shyly instead as he takes you to a small dance studio he rented (he didn’t want to take you the belift building where there would be other people - he’d want you to feel completely comfortable).

You’d simply stand there with your mouth dropped open as you watch him freestyle to a random song he put on like it’s nothing

You’d spend the day getting taught some moves by him and although you’re sure you look like a cat getting electrocuted, he still smiles and  nods and even claps, giving you compliments and teasing remarks

Overall, dates with niki are so so fun and goofy and perfect. You feel your heart swell every time he takes you out on another little adventure, feeling so complete and carefree between his warm hugs, jokes and words that he has to say to you

If you ask around, a lot of successful writers will tell you that they look at their writing the same way they would a business. And what do successful business all have in common? They have clearly defined brands that are designed to appeal to their target audience or customers.

What does that mean, concretely?

• It means that they know what they stand for, what their values are and what they’re offering.

• It means that they know who their target customer is, in terms of demographics, likes and dislikes, and general lifestyle or habits.

• It means that their messaging and content is tailored to appeal to that type of customer…

• …So that, ultimately, when their ideal customer lands on their social media pages or website, they can relate to everything on there and be more inclined to purchase a product or service.

Being a writers is no different, in that your work will be, by design, targeted to only a segment of the population. Nurturing your brand is how you’ll ensure your book will be put in front of the right readers, and have the best possible chances of success.

Before you set out on your journey to building your online presence, therefore, think about what you want your channels to reflect—be it across social media or through your website. The online image you’ll be creating has to be consistent across all of the mediums you are leveraging.

This by no means implies your online persona should be fake—quite the opposite in fact! The more genuine your online image is, the easier it will be to maintain over time and the more believable and consistent it will appear (because it’ll be true!).

Why Your Online Image Matters.

Trying to maintain a fake image will, at best, make it unconvincing and, at worst, confusing.

And that’s the thing.

Most people reject what they don’t understand. If they check out your content and it looks all over the place or doesn’t make sense, they’ll simply move on. Confusion turns people away from your content before they’ve had a chance to hear what you have to say.

Ask yourself some questions before you start:

• Who are you? What makes you, YOU? What is unique to you?

• When people think of you, what do you want them to think about? Someone who’s fun? Quirky? Talks about things as they are? Someone who’s formal? Someone with a particular interest? etc.

• How does this translate into the look and feel and content of your social media channels, your website etc.?

Take some time to write this down and use it to create your brand guidelines. And I mean exactly that: write it down. Make it a rulebook, and refer to it regularly. It may change and evolve with time, but having a reference point you can physically consult (as opposed to shreds of an idea of what your brand is about somewhere in your mind) will keep you and your brand on track.

Everything you post about, and the format in which you share it (e.g. photos, videos, long captions, blog posts, newsletter etc.) should be in line with the image you’re building.

From there, identify who your target audience is, and make sure your message (and its delivery) is relatable and appealing to that audience. It can take some trial and error to get right, so give yourself room to learn and grow!

Your Instagram Brand: Content vs. Aesthetics.

Looking at Instagram, you’ll see two main types of focus:

• Focus on aesthetics: these are feeds with high quality, impeccable pictures, quirky reels/videos, with a consistent theme and colour palette, and a huge focus on being visually pleasing.

• Focus on content: feeds where more thought and effort is placed on the post captions.

There are different ratios in which you can combine the two. Go back to your brand guidelines and see which ratio or combination of the two feels like a better fit. Ask yourself what would be more relatable for your target audience. Find what resonates most with you and your brand and stick to it, especially at the beginning when you’re growing a platform.

If you’re unsure what’s right for you, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Take some time to browse Bookstagram and find accounts you like. See what they’re doing and use the techniques you can see are working for them and feel right to you. Find what works, throw away what doesn’t.

Whatever you do, keep it consistent.

Wherever you land on the ‘aesthetics focus’ to ‘content focus’ ratio, as with a lot of things the first thing that people see when they land onto your channels (be it your instagram feed, your website etc.) is… Well. What they SEE.

People’s opinion of you based on your content will likely be formed (often subconsciously) within seconds of landing on your website or feed. Within those few seconds, they’ll decide whether or not to stick around or bounce, never to come back again.

For that reason, it’s important to keep the look and feel of your content generally consistent. Remember, confusing people is the surest way to fry their brains and turn them away from your channels before they give you, or what you have to say, a chance.

Your channels should all reflect the same look and the same message, i.e. they should look like they belong to the same person, and not show people one person on Instagram, a different one on your website and yet another one on Facebook. Things need to line up for your audience to get a sense of who you are and what you’re about, so that they can evaluate whether or not they can relate to it all. Once again, and I can’t say this enough, confused brand messaging is your worst enemy.

Professional, or not at all.

Consistency is one thing, and it’s crucial, but it’ll mean nothing if your channels don’t all look professional. Professional doesn’t mean it can’t also have a casual vibe, or be a friendly brand. Professional means whatever your brand is, it should have a certain polish to it, and clearly show that it was thought through and well-executed.

If you’re not convinced, riddle me this: When you land on a website that looked hacky or unsafe, do you still stuck around and browse through it? Or when you find an instagram account with burry pictures, weird-looking captions and totally unrelated content throughout, do you still scroll through for more?

…

My guess is you wouldn’t, because when you find something that looks dodgy (or, in other words, unprofessional) you can’t get away from it fast enough. We all do, because on a primal level that sense of uneasiness, uncertainty and insecurity signals to our brain that there may be danger, and it triggers our flight response.

Here are some prompts to get you started with building professional-looking and consistent channels:

On Instagram:

• What’s your Instagram handle? It is unique and memorable? Find a handle that says what it does on the tin, and one that doesn’t include a string of random numbers and letters. e.g. @authorjohnsmith is good, but @johnny_1999 and @John_Smith99 aren’t because they say nothing about who you are and they won’t be easy to remember.

• What type of pictures are you posting? Are they all clear and high-quality?

• Will you be using filters? If so which one? Ideally pick one and stick to it to give your feed a homogeneous look.

• What format are you using for your captions?

• Are your captions properly spaced out and easy to read?

• What content are you planning to post? Will there be recurring themes? If so, which ones?

On your website:

• Does your website look professional? Or does it look like a dodgy website that people will want to run away from immediately?

• Is your domain clear, specific and easy to remember?

• What does your landing page (your website home page) say about you?

• What imagery are you using?

• Is the look and feel of your website aligned with the look and feel of your Instagram feed? i.e. do they look like they belong to the same person?

• If your website navigation clear?

• How many clicks does it take to go from your home page to finding key information about you and your books?

• Is it easy for people to get in touch with you?

REAL and GENUINE does it.

I appreciate that a lot of the information we’ve covered so far sounds like it involves a lot of over-engineering of your online persona, but that isn’t to say that to succeed you need create a fake alter-ego.

Quite the opposite, actually.

What it suggests is that you should take some time to think about what makes you YOU, what feels real and genuine to YOU and to see how you can best translate that into images and content that will help people get to know YOU and what you stand for.

The illusion of perfection won’t make you attractive. All it’ll do is make you seem one-dimensional, and most likely make it look like you lack substance. In this day and age, people like to be able to relate to others and to see what goes on behind the scenes, the good AND the bad.

That’s all that your writer brand is. And the people who can relate to it will be the ones who stick around to hear more of what you have to say and will be more likely to enjoy your books.

In fact, look at it that way: building our writer brand online is like matching-making our books to their ideal readers. It’s getting our work in front of the people who are primed to love it and embrace it. And if we’ll give our characters a chance to find their literary soul-mates, why wouldn’t we grant our books the same courtesy?

LUCIFER

Lucifer would like to take you to Romania, mostly because of all the stories of the great Wallachian ruler Vlad Tepes/The Impaler and wants to find out more about his ruthless yet effective methods of insuring no crime happens in his country ( and hopes they will work on his brothers too ).

Apart from the gorgeous landscapes from the mountainside, the possibility to go to the seaside, or see the different types of regional architecture ( like the unique Black Church ) from different cities, he’d also like to get a full experience of the language, the music, the traditions ( customs, clothes, foo ) and feel for a day like a native from the old ages. 

Even more, he’d find it very nice if you were to try out one of the traditional outfits, and would take a picture of you at the mountains, on a nice field, and put the developed picture in his coat, looking at it whenever he is working and misses you.

He can get pretty salty about the fact that there are still people who believe the Bran castle is Dracula’s true castle, instead of the Poienari fortress and wouldn’t hesitate to express his displeasure, but would appreciate the castle and everything displayed there nonetheless.

At night, he would like to either cuddle with you and watch a movie, or go drive through the city at night, watch the night lights, and go on a cliff, stargazing and chatting openly about everything, because honestly, this guy is always dismissed and insulted by his brothers, it’s always a relief and a fresh air when he can be himself and just...Talk with someone.

Levi is the biggest weeb in the world, so the first place you’d visit together is Japan.

Anime conventions, wearing cute kimonos while going to festivals or roaming the streets of Kyoto or Akihabara, couple cosplay (Henry and the Lord of Shadows), buying merch of your favourite anime/manga/game, going to Vocaloid concerts, buying the newest Ruri-chan figurines, trying out new video games that just came out and so on.

Actually wants to go to a Pokemon cafe and fangirls SO much about all the cute pokemon themes there.

He would get you all the cutest Pokemon plushies, especially if you’re not all that into Pokemon but want to share that interest with him, so expect a Skitty, Vulpix, Shaymin, Eevee and all its Eeveelutions, Milotic plushie, while he would already be collecting plushies for the rarest Pokemons, but he’s incredibly happy that you want to do this with him.

He also gets an Ekans just for the Lolz and let’s out his tail, mostly for troll purposes, but it makes you laugh and he could swear his heart stopped beating and his cheeks were redder than ever.

He secretly got you a maid outfit and would love to see you wearing it, but he’s too embarrassed to actually say.

Loves to take you to different castles, see in real life everything he read in books and saw in movies or TV series, and he’s so mesmerised by the beauty of everything that he forgets he promised to be your guide, but his bright smile and the way his eyes sparkle in curiosity and glee make up for everything.

Besides, he’d definitely go back to you and explain in very precise detail the reason for his fangirling.

He’s a little nerd so bookstore dates are a huge YES, and more - CAT CAFES where you can read at your heart’s content. HUGE YES.

You’d both get our of there with tons of books that you will read together, cuddled up under the blankets while enjoying an aromatic tea that Satan prepared for you, together with some nice scones.

He’d want to go with you to Shakespeare’s grave, Dicken’s house, would like to see anything involving the Romantics and so on, since he’s in love with British literature.

Satan wants to go see the Harry Potter theme park so much, and would buy tons of merch for the two of you, and wants to go in full Hogwarts robes and wand with you.

Would take a gazillion pics of you together, that only you can see since it may ruin his reputation with his brothers for geeking out, but he’d love it if the universe was actually real.

Asmodeus will take you everywhere, but first, the Lafayette Galleries, all while streaming every second there, to shop everyone how amazing the place is.

Would pics the both of you sooo many pretty brand clothes, new skin care routine and make up products, that you almost wonder where he has all the money from, especially to pay someone to carry them back to your place.

Would take you to a lingerie shop where he’d make you try on all the cutest outfits and would buy them all, especially because he thinks they will make you more confident and wants to make sure you never thing bad of yourself, because if you’re dating him, then you’re obviously the most beautiful being he’s ever seen, inside and out. (he doesn’t count here, of course)

His wallpaper is a selfie of you two smiling and making a peace sign, from the top of the Eiffel Tower, seeing all Paris in the background, at evening, with the beautiful sky and the night lights all over.

Would take you on a cruise on Seine, serenading and drinking a glass of bubbly champagne, admiring all the buildings and the happy people sitting on the banks of the River, enjoying the scenery.

Would have fun when doing the classic “Pushing the Pisa Tower” picture, would like to sing when you go on a Gondola ride in Venice, and pretend to be a gladiator at the Colosseum, while you’re his Caesar.

If you get him a necklace or a keychain, he’d never take it off and has it as his lucky charm, kissing it whenever he misses you or wants the day to go good.

Belphie would actually like to have his head on your lap as you stay at the bottom of a tree and read, much like Froddo Baggings would, waiting for Gandalf.

It’s a guilty pleasure of his, but he wants to see ‘Gandalf’s’ fireworks, and when a festival like that happens, he’d hold your hand tight, having a soft smile on his face and a tender look in his eyes.

Despite not saying it very often, he will confess his love for you.

It’s barely above a whispers, but it’s genuine.

It’s simple, small, but meaningful and beautiful nonetheless.

As you stargaze on the field, he’d tell you the names of all stars and constellations that you can see, and would tell you some trivia he knows about them.

Diavolo is so easily excitable, despite his age and title for the next Devil Lord, but honestly, he wants to take you to Iceland to see the Northern Lights that you spoke so fondly about.

There are so many pretty things to see in the Devildom alright, but none of them quite as fascinating to him as how the sky lights up with so many different and beautiful shades of green, blue and pink, it’s almost unreal!

Who would have thought that the Human world could hold such natural wonders?

He could have sword you were a witch or something, and just wanted to impress him with your magic, as if charming him wasn’t enough, but this beauty makes him behave even more like a child, leaving him speechless and breathless.

Diavolo would kiss and hug you, spinning your around so many times, if you allow him, you forgot to count, which is his way of thanking you for showing him this place and he’s honestly just so happy that he can share this precious moment together with you.

You tell him some old stories about how they say the ancestors’ souls watch over everyone from up there, and that even the animals who died have their souls there, living in peace and quiet.

Despite knowing it’s obviously not true, the tales humans come up with are so creative and make so much sense to their beliefs, he’s genuinely fascinated by all these old stories and would like for you to tell him more.

Iceland’s landscapes are also to be taken into account, and Diavolo will take thousands of pics of you literally everywhere, just because you’re so cute and he’s so damn happy and wants many memories together.

Would like for you to take a selfie with his phone, while at the Northern Lights, and would make Lucifer frame it so he can have it on his desk whenever he’s working, and whenever he gets bored, tired, or just misses you, he’d gaze fondly at the picture and would occasionally kiss it.

A/N: soooo uhhh. I’m not dead.. lolol. Just kinda reallyyyyy lost any motivation to write for not only this blog, but any writing in general honestly. Miya Osamu

“and if you push this button on the remote you can totally change the colors to the lights too. Pretty neat right?”

To be honest, Osamu didn’t hear much of your explanation of all the things in your room. Mostly because he was overwhelmed by the pure vibes coming from your room. He was a little surprised that you had invited him over to study. You two hadn’t been dating for very long, so inviting him over to study, in your bedroom no less, had taken him by surprise. But of course curiosity got the best of Samu, so he wasn’t about to turn down this opportunity. Looking around, he noticed the way your lights were set up to give off whatever color you wanted to hit every corner of the room. And how your cute little starter plants overtook your dresser. Candles of specific colors adorned your bookshelf where you had organized them by color to match an obvious theme you were going for. Osamu especially enjoyed the record player that had music softly playing; the record turning slowly to match the music coming out of it. He’d have to investigate your books and records later when you showed him your favorite ones. 

He took in the way your lights had pictures hanging from them, most of them were pictures you had taken with your friends. But he noticed the corner by your bed had ones the two of you had taken together. For some reason Osamu found that really sweet. 

“Samu? Did you here me? Hello, earth to Osamu.” you called out, trying to gain the attention of your boyfriend, who had been staring at your fairy lights after taking in your room for a solid 3 minutes without looking or acknowledging you comments. You were nervous about what his response to your room would be. The way you decorated your room was in a way that really showed who you were, and you didn’t want to just share that with anyone. 

Osamu finally realized you were calling him and turned to look at you with a lazy smile noticing your slightly guarded look and could tell you were waiting for a response. “Come here F/n, there’s no reason to be anxious, I totally think your set up is amazing. Show me more?” 

Miya Atsumu

 “You have so many books F/N! How the hell do you afford all of these!?” Atsumu had never seen so many books outside of a library in his life. The fact that you had two full size, five shelf book shelves in your room side by side. Each bookshelf adorned with rows and stacks of books taking up every possible space that you could cram a book into. 

You rubbed the back of your head blushing slightly “well....I found most of them at bookstores, thrift stores, sales, friends and family who gave them as gifts...” you rambled, not sure what his response would be. 

Atsumu ran to another corner of your room immediately starting to flip through your almost equally impressive stack of records. When you had invited Atsumu over to work on a school paper together, you didn’t know what his thoughts of your room would be. Even though you two had been best friends since you were 6, he had yet to been inside your room. Although your locker at school had a lot of similar vibes as your room, a few mini plants you had snuck into school were on the top shelf, pictures adorning your locker door, and other things gave Atsumu an idea of your inner vibes. 

It was something he really loved about you. He would be lying if he didn’t admit that he was dying to see what your room looked like. Any chance to get closer to you was really his end goal. I mean, he’s been trying to go over to your place for years to be shot down every time. But the opportunity had finally arrived and you had caved, finally allowing him the opportunity into your private life. 

“Hey F/N, got any secret journals hidden amongst all of these books full of secrets you haven’t shared with me?” he teased going back to the books scattered over your desk. 

Sighing, you sunk into your corner of comfy, plushy bean bag pillows and called for him to join you “Knock it off Tsumu, get over here and sit down so we can work on this paper please?” 

Atsumu took one look at the comfy looking pile before taking three long strides and plopping down onto the one next to you, jostling you and your laptop in the process. “I could really get used to hanging out here F/N. I say we start having movie nights at your place. In fact, let’s just do everything over here from now on.”

“Don’t push your luck there Tsumu.”

Kuroo Tetsurou

“can I choose the next record F/N?” 

Looking up from your sketchbook, you noticed your boyfriend looking over at you with a lazy look. To be honest, he looked completely at home, fitting in with the glow of the fairy lights that you had dimmed just enough to allow you guys to see what you were doing. 

Kuroo had been surprised when you suggested doing homework together at your house, since his room was the usual hang out spot, unless you chose to be outside in nice weather. It’s not that he didn’t think you didn’t want him in your room, he was just usually the first to suggest studying over at his place. 

But seeing the way your room just gave off vibes that were purely, you, had Kuroo ready to study and hang out here all the time. He found your room a chill environment, but still productive enough that he wasn’t wasting his time studying. He had particularly enjoyed flipping through your pile of records, and naming off fun facts of all the cute plants you had scattered in perfect places in your room to capture the sunlight. 

You nodded at Kuroo’s question, returning to your sketchbook, immediately getting lost in the drawing you were working on for class again. A few minutes later you recognized the soft melody of your and Kuroo’s favorite song coming from the record player. Suddenly two strong, volleyball and chemistry note taking worn, hands gently took your pencil and sketchbook from you. Setting them down next to you before pulling you to your feet and into your dorky boyfriend’s arms. 

“Tetsu you cannot dance for your life. What are we doing?” you laughed, letting him pull you close and swaying with him. 

“I can’t dance?! Excuse me have you not seen the grace and beauty that I have on the volleyball court? What makes you think I can’t use that to dance with my beautiful girlfriend?” he defended, although you both knew you were right. 

Laughing you took control, despite the obvious difference in sizes between you two, and spun under his arm, enjoying the quick way he caught himself from tripping. Whether the two of you could dance or not, it didn’t matter. Spending this time with Kuroo was like the world had stopped moving around you. If you could spend forever here in his arms in your room forever you certainly would. 

Although it wouldn’t be spent dancing as Kuroo ruined that moment by throwing you over his shoulder and flopping down on your bed deciding it was time for cuddles while enjoying the rest of your album playing your favorite songs. The two of you laughing and sharing special secret moments that would stay inside your four bedroom walls for eternity.

Hey girl! How about some Halloween themed Bill Hader x reader headcanons? Thought it’d be cute, watching scary movies late into the night

Okay, so I’ve split this post into two parts for some Halloween fun! <3

Bill Hader 

Autumn, although it had been a long time coming, had finally arrived. The leaves had changed colours, lining the trees with speckles of orange, red and yellow. When the wind blew they came down, breaking delicately off of tree branches and fluttering down to earth like a colourful rain. The air is as crisp and sweet as one of the apples in the orchards, trees lining warm fences and railings as the ground is wet underfoot. The clouds aren’t too threatening today, just a little grey, and the wind is starting to feel more like the blast you get from opening the refrigerator door.

The leaves detach from their autumnal boughs and fall to earth as gently as feathers. They have the rocking motion that such delicate things assume when they tumble through the breeze. Bill wears a smile that could light up the world as he runs underneath them, pushing a dazed you out of the way as he wraps his scarf tightly around himself, rubbing his gloves together as he breathes out a cold stream of fresh air, unable to stop the childishness that comes out of him as he runs around the grass, each vibrant hue making him feel more and more alive.

Having swept up the pile of brilliant yellow, bright orange and subtle red autumn leaves that litter the dewy ground, Bill winks cheerily at you, the bitter wind biting into his  skin as he runs over to you and grasps your hands.

Before you have time to register his actions, he tumbles the two of you backwards, delight covering his features, leaping the two of you through the air until he lands in the leaves like an excited puppy, flowering leaves through the air and straight into your face with a dramatic thump as you land on his chest and roll off with a thud onto the cracking dirt. His head peeps out from the top of the pile, shock evident on his features as fumbles to find you, his fingers finding fumbling onto your arm as he pulls you up into his chest.

As your cheek smushes against his jacket, your fingers digging into the muscles of his arms as he decides the best course of action is to just stay silent for a moment, he allows his shoulders to relax when he feels you giggle against his chest. He feels something warm and tingly flutter in his heart as he leans down to press a lingering kiss against your forehead, before pulling the two of you back down into the pile and away from the eyes of passerbys on the pavement.

Later in the day, when you’d finally managed to get him to settle down, wiping the fake blood off his face with the back of your hand once you’d convinced him that dressing up as a murder victim to hand out candy to trick or treaters was in actual fact a very scarring idea, he’s plopped down next to you on the soda, happily eating popcorn. 

His leg bounces next to yours, a few empty chocolate wrappers from the leftover stash littered next to his socked feet as one arm wraps itself around your shoulders. The music grows louder as Halloween plays on the flickering screen before his entranced eyes, his hand slowing down and mouth slacking slightly, his nose twitching slightly. A particularly loud sound of shatter glass has him pushing his face into the side of your cheek, his nose smushed against your skin as he doesn’t blink, pulling you closer with his arms as he drops the popcorn bowl onto the carpet. 

He bites his bottom lip as he rubs your back in soothing circles, smiling slightly despite the movie as you reach up to brush his hair aside and kiss his forehead, going on to press soft kisses on his cheeks. You let him snuggle up to you, face nuzzling you chest as his feet plop on top of yours, until you can hear his snores gently vibrate over your skin before the movie had even ended.

Barry

‘Y/n, you really don’t need to buy me a costume. My horrible dress sense coupled with my personality is horrifying enough.’

‘Barry, we’ve been here for hours. Just pick. A. Costume. Or Gene is going to kill you for ruining his dress up party.’

‘That’s why we shouldn’t go-’

‘Barry!’

Your eyes wander off, suddenly focused on something else as Barry sighs and turns back to the rack, pushing a large feathery top hat out of the way and frowning at the glow in the dark velvet cape that brushes against his fingers and rattles against its hanger. A huge grin spreads across your features as you brush past his hoodie and move, instead, in the direction of your newfound goal.

‘How about matching outfits?’ You pick up the crystal ball resting on the table next to the wizard and witch’s outfit, holding it to your ear, ‘Oh my god, I think the crystal ball is working! The spirits are telling me you’re an idiot.’

'I can’t believe you convinced me not to go.’

You were pinning the fake bats to the ceiling with precarious precision, your thumb slightly sticking out from under your tilted witch’s hat when you nearly tripped over your dress jumping down onto the floor. Stepping back to admire your work, the orange and black spirals falling from the roof like confetti, you frown for a second when you don’t hear a reply from Barry, Kicking past the stool, you start to head towards the bedroom, when suddenly you saw a figure jump in front of you and you screamed, falling backwards into the door frame. 

You heard a familiar laugh and sighed, realising it was just Barry with a very concerned look grabbing your elbow and picking you up from the floor rather than some very weirdly dressed murderer. 

‘What the hell, Barry’, you say, trying to stifle your laughter as Barry gazes at you wide eyed from behind his very protruding beard, standing up against the wall. You thump your hand against his shoulder as he chuckles hoarsely, moving the beard away from his mouth so he could talk to you properly.

‘What do you think of this for handing out candy?’ 

‘You’re going to horrify them.’

NEW NAME ANNOUNCEMENT

 I've been at this for a good couple of weeks. It's something that's been nagging at the back of my head from time to time the last year or so (who's counting?) and now I've finally made the decision to change my instagram handle - in other words; a little re-branding is on it's way.

I've learned some things in the process of asking around, listening to people's feedback and opinions.. I even made some polls on my instagram stories (if you're as big of a fan of polls as me, you should check out my stories now & then). And even though I appreciated all the positive feedback I got from my followers, I also have to think of the bigger picture.

You can't please everyone. 

When I asked around to get some feedback on wether or not they thought @colourline was a misrepresentation of my instagram grid, the response was very split. Some thought it was misleading, others didn't. Some thought it was creative others said they were confused or felt like they missed something.

When I asked why, again the feedback was split.. Some said my feed was misleading because dark and muted. Others said they could easy see the colours, and some even thought muted colours were better then bright colours. So I'm gonna make some happy, and some.. not so happy. Either way, I can't make everyone happy, so I might as well do what makes me happy.. So I thought.. but then.. what the heck do I want? What makes me happy? I also learned that some people think they can give orders, when you ask for feedback. No dear, it's still my choice. I think it's important to remember who's in charge of not only yourself, but your brand and your choices. 

I was met with a lot of interesting opinions, advices & feedback. I've been given it a lot of thought, and I'd like to share a little about what I learned in the process. If you're thinking of some changing yourself, this might even help.

 _underscores_ and dots.. looks unprofessional Well, I think this is debatable, I personally don't think it have to look unprofessional. As a matter of fact, I know some pretty professional, respectable & creative people, just to mention the lovely @me_and_orla who uses underscores. She has +177k followers + a blue tick. So neither instagram nor her big following finds that too unprofessional. That being said, I don't think I would ever use it myself, but that's personal taste, I don't necessarily think it looks unprofessional. A Wildflowers Home is a very long username and might look too long or crowded in a post. Well, I agree it's a rather long username, but not thaaaat long. ;) I don't recall ever thinking any username looking over crowded in a post, but I thought, I'll do some research. Two of the new handles I've been considering is; 'A Wildflowers Home' & 'A Wildflowers Journey'. Without spaces they're 16 and 19 characters.  I scrolled down my home feed to see how long people's usernames is, and see if there were any pros & cons to be aware of. My "biggest fear" would be if the name was so long that Instagram would only showcase half the name followed up with some dots, but what I found was that even the charming Grace behind @gracewithabookinherface, with 23 characters was still readable and did not look over crowded. Long? maybe a little. Overcrowded? nah. Interesting. She has a +46k following, so her followers doesn't seem to have a problem with her handle either. So I don't see what a longer or shorter username should be better or worse for, but I thought it was interesting to see that many had 15-20 characters.  So I don't think it's the length that scared away people.

Okay, so here are my personal thoughts behind the name-changing. I have a whole history with the name @colourline, so no doubt I had nostalgia & feelings attached to it (I tell the story a little longer down), but I'm gonna try to tell it from a more objective perspective. While I think the wordplay was fun, with my name in it, it was creative, easy to prnounce and recognisable.. all the stuff that I like.  I also recognised that it had less to do with my future plans and dreams. I didn't necessarily have a problem with the colour in my name. While some people think of "colour" as bright rainbow colours, not all do. Colours come in all tones and moods, which I love. I've been testing out quite a few different themes (before the one I've got now), someone mentioned; because of all the different themes it had a colourline through it all. Again, people have so many perspectives, there will always be some that loooves it, and there will always be someone who just doesn't get it. And that's okay. Who do we make this for. Ourselves? Who do we wanna share it with? Our audience. Let's not try to impress those who'll never be impressed or care anyway. Waste of precious time, man!

I was given an interesting perspective that got me thinking; having too many different names on the internet, can be a bit confusing. Not only for people trying to find you (or recognise you), but also for yourself. Juggling between lots of usernames, (that's not your own name) might be too many balls in the air at ones. I had 'Colourline' on all my social medias and my blog name 'A Wildflowers Home'. I've been thinking a lot.  For me, Colourline was my name on the internet. I didn't use my personal name much. A Wildflowers Home is my blogs name, that I also have other dreams and visions for making a physical place in the future (you can read more about my dreams here), so that name stays.

 The story behind Colourline

Colourline has been with me since I was 6. I moved from Denmark to Norway at that time, an the ferry we travelled with had the brilliant name; Color Line. I was thrilled, to say it the least. When you’re 6, seeing your name in big fat letters on a ginormous boat, it’s probably one of the coolest things in the world. We travelled with it every summer & I still got that merchandise keyholder with the magic name somewhere in my room. 

Funfact: I’ve been tagged twice by people thinking I was that ferry.

When Instagram came along, Colorline was already claimed by another dude. I was a little bummed, but I quickly found out that you can spell Colourline more than one way. So that's the reason for the british "u".

Since that day, it’s been my username + an old mail address (I was a teen!).. pretty much everywhere! 

But now, I'm thinking it might be a time for a bit of change. 

In my early teenage years I started developing a more playful & colourful style. Imagine mix matched socks, lots of jewellery mostly DIY'd + colourful oversized T-shirts with fun logos. I even added my own touches.  I was very shy at the time + just changed school (again), so being this bold in my appearance was a pretty big step for me. I was even known as hippie Line for a little while (btw it’s pronounced “Lee-neh” for those of you who don't know). 

So you can say Colourline wasn’t only a good ferry childhood memory, but became a description of who I was, at that time in my life. 

As I’ve grown older, I’ve still got the hippie in me & the colours here and there, but the tones have changed & the feel is more moody & I’ve (finally) dared to let my inner rock chick out.  I was terrified of not being the playful & colourful girl anymore (you can imagine the identity crisis, hah), but I learned to embrace the growth & changes in my real life, & now I feel like it’s time to embrace the changes in my internet life too. 

This might seem superficial & dramatic to some, but for a creative girl with big dreams, visions & a need to express myself, this goes a lot deeper than what I wear or a name on the internet.

Okay, so to the last part. I consider my instagram as a journey, a quest, an adventure, my path through life.. but what to choose? I found this brilliant description on Pinterest, that helped me made up my mind:

a QUEST is a trip to accomplish a task. 

an ADVENTURE is a trip without a destination. 

a JOURNEY is when the trip is more important than the destination

* You were kinda worried to tell him you were trans at first, not knowing how he’d react with his blunt nature. But he just cocked his head and was like “you’re being yourself, why are you acting so shy?” and that was that! He’s super accepting and is glad you did what you did to feel like your true self!

* He finds your contrasting palettes amusing and is super excited to see what each new outfit will be. Will it be lots of blacks or pretty pinks and blues? He’ll never know! (he lowkey based his next theme off of yin and yang because of you’re opposing interests)

* He loves watching you draw because it’s something he can’t do. “You painted that?! Wow! So talented!”

* He’ll listen to you sing and listen to your poems all day if need be. He’s very musically inclined (clearly) so he loves the way words and tones invoke feelings and emotions in people!

* He is the first to make fun of your dancing, but also finds it super endearing. “It’s so cute that you’re such a bad dancer. You’re super embarrassing but it’s a good thing i don’t get embarrassed easily!”

* No one really opens up to him, so he doesn’t know how to deal with heavy emotions. But, after a while, and after a few emotionally induced arguments, he learns how to handle you personally and what cheers you up and avoids what makes you upset. He’s envious of your sensitivity because he realizes it something he sort of lacks.

* He finds it super cute that you’re always worried about his well-being when there are long days where he goes straight from coaching Yuuri and Yuri to practicing his own routines. 

* Totally posts about your relationship everywhere because he’s so happy to have someone like you in his life. 

For Jaehee

* She admired your bravery for becoming who you truly are, seeing as she has stuffed her own personalities and interests away purely to survive rather than live. 

* You helped her realize that it doesn’t matter what others think of you as long as you’re true to yourself you’ll really be happy. It was something she had to accept over time, but you showed her what true happiness really was.

* Your color palette changes kind of give her whiplash. She has a very neutral wardrobe, so to see you switch from darks to pastels daily stresses her out a little because (how do you find that many outfits if not everything matches??????)

* She loves your poetry and decides to try her hand at it, seeing as how it helps you stabilize your moods because you can put what you’re truly feeling into those words.

* She surprised you one day by taking you to a slam poetry night at a local cafe and presenting a poem about how you changed her life for the better. She was bright red. You both cried. It was very cute.

* She can’t dance either, and where you’re proud of your lack of skills, she will not show her dance moves to anyone, not unless she has a bit of wine in her first.

* She’ll always put her emotions to the side to help you with your own, even when you tell her not to. She’s too caring like that.

* Man you two are the parental couple all the way. You consistently worry about the team’s safety and well-being because these morons don’t know how to take care of themselves.

* Suga was more than accepting of the fact that you’re trans! He didn’t ask any invasive questions, but was more than happy and intrigued to listen to your story of how you came about it!

* He thinks you look best in pastel, mainly because that’s his favorite palette, but he also thinks you look dark and mysterious in the darker palette, so he loves that one too. Really, he just likes how you look in anything.

* He’ll listen to you sing all the time. It’s his favorite. He’s been caught sitting outside the bathroom door while you’re taking a shower just to listen to you sing.

* He teases you for being a bad dancer, but it’s not like he’s that good either. But it’s okay! You two both embrace your inability to dance and have fun with it!

* He’s 100% there for you regardless of your emotions, and if any of the boys do anything to upset you, there will be hell to pay, even if you try to convince him that it’s fine and you’re just sensitive.

* After finding out that you two were dating, the team became fiercely protective of you, Noya and Tanaka forming another defense squad for you against bad things people might say when you guys go to tournaments.

Styling With House Plants

Unless you’ve been living under a bush lately, you must have noticed how houseplants are taking over. Literally. A single spider plant on a shelf, or a lone geranium on the window ledge just doesn’t cut it anymore. It isn’t enough to dot a few green friends round the house and just water them when they need it. Houseplants are big news in the design world! And like all other accessories around the house, the way that you present them is v. important. I kid you not. Now, I may not be the best teacher when it comes to keeping the darned things alive (in fact right at this moment I’m looking at my wilting Peace Lilly with a sinking heart), but I can help with a few tips on how to make yours stand out from the crowd.

Never more true than when it comes to plants. Even the smallest of specimens is elevated when it has a few buddies around it. They will actually benefit from this kind of grouping too – creating their own little eco system of moist air. It’s important that all of the plants get their share of daylight though, so a corner with two windows is perfect. Under a skylight window would work too. The light coming from above will encourage them to grow taller, straighter and more handsome by the day.

Grouping plants on a trolley, sideboard, or on shelves will also increase their impact. The trolley is actually handy when it comes to watering. Just wheel it over to the sink, instead of dripping the watering-can across the room every time. It’s also easier to move the plants around so that they get an even distribution of daylight.

The Odd Numbers Rule (and the Triangle Rule)

It’s a golden rule of stylists that you use an odd number of accessories. Or in this case plants. The eye for some reason finds it more pleasing as the result appears less studied. And it’s even better if the plants are at different heights. That’s another rule of stylists by the way. Always create a triangle.

A triangle is easily achieved with different height plants, by using plant stands (or furniture) of different heights, or by hanging some from the ceiling. As a general rule, place the tallest and most substantial plant at the back, and slightly off center. Set the middle sized plant in front, but off to the side. Lastly, place the smallest plant in the front. Be sure to overlap them all slightly so that each can be seen but so that they are seen by the eye as a whole.

A tall spiky cactus next to a frothy fern. A variegated ivy next to a waxy large leaf Rubber Plant. And that can go for pots too. Mix up the materials your pots are made of but keep to a similar colour scheme for instance. Mix grey pottery and glass (both show off the plants really well). Terracotta and metal (both earthy and natural looking). Or go all out for a whacky mix of vintage and/or quirky containers.

But then again, what’s wrong with a row of soldiers? If you’re shelf is very narrow, why not accentuate that narrowness, and make a virtue of it. Choose identical containers and ring the changes with different shaped succulents.

The botanical theme doesn’t have to stop with the houseplants either. Choose complementary prints to continue the theme, hang botanical printed plates on the walls, or paint the walls in a flattering shade of green.

The RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2017

My first ever visit to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show was in 2008, it was a bus trip, and it took hours to get there, and it rained……lots.

However my more recent visit was a much more enjoyable experience, good company, decent weather and ice creams.

There are a lot of blogs currently on the Hampton Court Flower Show, so I shall add my own take on what I saw.

Giant Green Animals.

As soon as we walked in through the gate we were greeted by some giant green animals, great fun, imagine having some of these peering over from your neighbour’s garden at you all day.

Blind Veterans UK: It’s All About Community Garden

Circular Show Garden designed with blind and visually impaired veterans in mind while employing traditional craftsmanship.

Gold Medal Winner, Best Construction Award.

A lovely, large, circular garden which celebrates the activities of the beneficiaries, volunteers and staff at Blind Veterans UK. It is a community garden that brings together everyone involved in the charity as well as offering sensory stimulus to those with vision impairment as much as everyone involved in the garden. There is a large Liquidambar styraciflua at the centre which tree provides shade and a 40-year-old apple and pear trees which create a small orchard. Other plantings include, roses, dahlias and grasses, and a small plantings of edibles create a kitchen garden.

The designers Andrew Fisher Tomlin, Dan Bowyer have stated that they did not want to use too many scented plants as not to overpower the veterans.

This was a really nice garden, great design, amazing construction, even more amazing weaving.

After the show the garden is going to be broken up and used for further projects by the charity Blind Veterans.org.

On The Edge: The Centre for Mental Health Garden

The topical issue of mental health is explored in this garden of two parts, which conveys the journey through depression to acceptance

How would you mow that.?

I noticed a nice finish at the back as well.

The Garden was awarded a Silver-Gilt.

I think it had Gold written all over it, the garden shows the journey from mental ill-health on to acceptance. You enter via a narrow path, pushing through a spiky planting scheme, tall hedges invoke a feeling of claustrophobia. You walk towards an uncomfortable steep staircase into a dull, disorienting area. Pushing on, you step out onto broad, open steps which lead down towards a therapeutic area beside a reflective pool.

There was a lot of thought and personal experience in this design and I really liked it.

I had been looking forward to finding this garden, the sketch in the show handbook did not do it justice. the garden is a celebration of people within the horticultural community just helping out, Charlie originally put a request on twitter if anyone could help with plants, materials and time in order to build the garden, so in fact she was not sure of how the garden would end up as she did not know what resources she would have.

I know of a couple of Horti types that I follow on twitter got involved and were able to help with construction, I saw the pictures posted on social media, it appears also that cake was involved.

The end result is a very bright but simple design, a mass of colourful plants that I found very pleasing, I also adored the metal fencing design which I’m noticing more and more at RHS shows. The Garden was awarded a Silver Gilt Medal, but I decided it should have Gold. So there.

Perennial Sanctuary Garden

Intriguing spiral paths lead into the centre of this garden as they intersect beds of colourful planting that create appealing plant combinations between grasses and perennials. A central area behind a bamboo screen creates a sense of calm from the turmoil of the world outside.

This is another garden that I really wanted to see, it’s a garden which supports the Charity Perennial –  The Gardeners Royal Benevolent Society,  which supports Professional horticulturalists when times get tough. I am a professional horticulturist, and I know of a colleague who benefited from the Charity’s excellent work a few years ago, so I’m always keen to support.

The design conveys how Perennial can help clients to gently move from the chaos of their lives to find a personal sanctuary

The hoggin spiral paths draw the visitor into the garden. The vibrant outer planting in russet and red slowly changes to ochres and yellows before softening to mauves and blues; all the time the planting heightens to increase the sense of enclosure and protection

The garden was in a large circular design, and represents  how Perennial can help those receiving help to gently move from the chaos of their lives to find a personal sanctuary.

The spiral shape of The Perennial Sanctuary Garden, has a changing colour scheme of plants that represents the journey that client takes as they move, with Perennial’s help, from the chaos of their personal circumstances to safety – finding sanctuary in the storm. As you travel through the spiral garden the inner planting becomes taller and restful, and in the centre of the garden the planting is a single species of tall bamboo, screening the outside world from view.

The Garden was awarded a Silver Gilt Medal, but once again I gave it my Gold.

Southend Council: By the Sea

Smart beach huts, immaculate decking and subtle planting give a relaxed seaside feel

Two gardens built by young offenders, the aim is to give young offenders new skills and opportunities in life, and apparently the decking is built from timbers salvaged from Southend’s iconic pier.

I decided to call the Bear Barry.

Depicting a fun, bright, British Seaside experience.

Both gardens are very bright and vibrant, which appear to be a theme running through many show gardens this year. The gardens were awarded a Silver Gilt Medal.

Small but nice features littered these gardens.

I liked the small, but interesting features in these gardens, such as this homemade wall mounted plant pot holder with matching petunia colour to the wall.

London Glades

This is the very opposite of a typical urban garden – a freeform undulating space where it’s said that part of every plant is also edible

Gold Medal Winner and Best Garden for a Changing World.

This garden has been designed with edible forest principe, whereby the many layers of planting offers edible crops, trees, shrubs, vines, herbs, roots…

The design of the ground has been used by the Hugelkultur or Hill culture, old rotting branches and garden waste is heaped together and covered in topsoil and planted on top in order to mimic the natural forest floor. I’ve heard of this concept before, but have never seen it in the flesh so to speak.

It was a lovely and welcome respite from all the bright colours and noise of a busy show ground, i noticed when the designed was being interviewed by a camera crew on the garden, he had everybody take their shoes and socks off so they could enjoy the soft, moist moss under their feet. I almost joined them.

I think this was my most enjoyable Hampton court visit to date, a plant was purchased and I provided ice cream to the good company, there was so much to get to try to see and I  know I missed stuff.

Which 5 Purely Decorative Home Accessories Do You Really Need?

A room never looks complete until it’s been accessorised. You may have deliberated long and hard over the wallpaper, paint colours and the furniture, but until you add the finishing touches it doesn’t really look like a home. And home accessories are the fun part! Why would you put on your best outfit and go out without your earrings? They are the finishing touch! Admittedly there is a knack to adding these all important details – I still find it hard sometimes myself. But unlike the bigger ticket items in a room, and the walls you have spent days covering with paint, it’s easy to change the decorative bits and bobs around. As many times as you like in fact. In fact I get hours of pleasure out of moving things from room to room, shelf to shelf, or restyling for the seasons. But it helps if you have certain things at your disposal….

Home Accessories – Books

You’ve probably got a mountain of these already. Or maybe not in this day of kindles and tablets. Books make a room look homely and lived in. They make a room look interesting. Stylists look out for old books at car boot sales and junk shops. Preferably without the paper dust jacket, and the more dog-eared the better. And they can be used for more than just filling the bookshelves. Books can add height to displays on coffee tables and side tables. The can even be piled up and used instead of a side table.

Home Accessories – Boxes

There was a time when I was obsessed with buying wooden boxes so I’ve probably got more than my fair share. Like books they can be used to add height and/or substance to a bookshelf or display on any other surface. The square boxy shape makes them perfect for placing centrally, with other objects placed around them. The are also perfect for using as bookends. And of course you can store your matches, pens, or your TV remotes in them.

Trays are perfect for keeping lots of little objects neat and together, but can be purely decorative in themselves.  See my previous post.

Home Accessories – Artwork

We all know that walls need artwork. Plain walls can look dull and like you just moved in. But artwork can be used elsewhere too. Small frames that would be lost on the wall (unless part of a gallery wall) look fantastic propped up behind other objects. The can add colour, pattern and interest to a static still life and sometimes humour too. I’m not too big a fan of inspirational quotes on the wall, but small framed quotes on a bookshelf – well, that’s okay. Especially in a home office where we need all the inspiration we can get.

Home Accessories – Objects of Interest

These are the really fun accessories. You’ve built your framework with books, boxes, trays and artwork, and these little quirky bits add interest. This is where you can add those treasures collected on holiday. The shells, the coloured rocks, ornaments and busts. These can be bought especially for a room – if you have a theme going on, this is where you can reinforce it. But the best objects of interest are ones that are personal to you. Maybe things you have had for years and can’t bear to part with. They can either fill in the gaps in a display or be the highlight.

Home Accessories – Plants and Flowers

Plants and flowers are the final, final, finishing touch to every room. I’ll say it again. They don’t have to be real. It’s nice to have fresh flowers in the most used rooms in the house, but keeping the guest bedroom in flowers is beyond extravagant (unless you have guests of course). And not every room gets enough light to keep fickle houseplants thriving. But, a touch of green will lift any shelf display, and a small vase of blooms will give life to even the smallest of tables.
