The book's embellished metal spine displays 12 individual strands attached to each internal page. Designed to hold the front cover in place, four metal vulture-like clasps are inserted into the scarab emblems and are adjoined to uniquely designed hinges. Located within the book are 12 resin tablet pages covered in ornate hieroglyph detailing. To open the book, the circular mechanical emblem on the cover must be twisted in an anticlockwise direction, which causes the two clasps on the right side to pop up. To close the book, the two clasps should be pushed down into their corresponding slots and held. The emblem should then be turned clockwise, causing the locks to fix back into place. Intentionally distressed for the production, there are some small chips on the cover. Dimensions: 14.5" x 14.5" x 4.75" (37 cm x 37 cm x 12 cm) Estimate: $50,000 - 100,000

I didn't want to reblog this actual thread because my sidetracking doesn't need to be on a good and helpful mental health post. BUT. I wanted to ask anyone who has noticed the same thing I have about this topic: why do you think this kind of therapy does not work on the very large percentage of autistic people that it does not work on, including myself. many professionals and laymen have tried this tried-and-true method of subverting depression on me and I will just argue back, and I will have more reasoned arguments than they will. and I will engage with their question ("why do you feel that way") and the proceeding argument in good faith, but the therapist will not be prepared to advance past the professional Jedi mind trick of just telling me my extremely studied reasons for thinking a certain way aren't rational and should simply be abandoned. they don't have any more rabbits in the hat after that. so what the fuck

honestly i find it interesting that people point to this scene in particular as gale being pushy/overbearing with katniss or dismissive of her feelings, when it's like.... from his perspective, she kind of blindsided him here

like. imagine you're gale for a second, okay. you did the selfish, impulsive thing and kissed your best friend months ago after seeing her for the first time after she survived the arena. she never acknowledged it after the fact, so you don't either. you made your feelings known, now the ball is in her court.

however. the games and the capitol have a hand in controlling her and her life from now on, so not only does she proceed to go on a victory tour with the guy she's been forced into a fake(?) relationship with, she's also all over him the entire time AND they get engaged at the end of it. Ouch, okay. That hurts, but maybe there's a reason for it, you figure it's still part of an act. you go to hear her out, and not only does she reaffirm that it's all an act to ensure YOUR survival, and he's not really her fiance, but then she asks to run away with you!!

i really don't blame him for interpreting this in a romantic way tbh. and even then, even when he realizes he's misjudged and fucked up, he's still willing to hear her out and go with her!! he only starts getting pissed when she mentions that she also wants to bring even more people to be responsible for, people who would put even bigger targets on their backs, and he realizes that this is her in survival mode and possibly catastrophizing (which IS shitty don't get me wrong) bc this is, again, before she reveals that there have been uprisings in other districts.

idk, i just think this scene takes on a whole other layer when you look at it from an outsider's, specifically gale's, perspective
