You know, I have sometimes gotten impatient with the way newer games have these very slow and unskippable starting sections instead of letting you fucking got on with it, and I have often tried to argue with myself and acknowledge that this is an inevitable part of games being made for mass markets. Little Timmy or his middle-aged dad who only turns on the playstation once or twice every year isn't going to be well-versed in picking up a game's control scheme just from experience and being willing to fuck around with the controls. It's good that the developer holds their hand for a little bit so they don't get bored and frustrated and immediately refund the game before they have time to purchase some of the in-game items.
But, man, game like Thief and Half-Life really had this figured out way back in the 90s. Slap up a screen as soon as the player hits New Game. TRAINING AREA. START GAME. Let the player pick what they're comfortable with and give them the knowledge where they can go to learn the controls if it turns out that they get stuck. And don't waste any more of my fucking time than you need to.

(comic concept art)
rough goron design for my zelda comic, struggled with it for a while bc i didnt want to make their build too similar to demise, tho thematically it fits, ended up going for a more turtle-armadillo kind of approach and a tail just feels right for them and their habit of curling into a ball
since they are even older than the ones from skysw i figured it would still be plausible if they evolved into how they later looked from this
the mogma will need a slight redesign only and parakwa will mostly stay the same as in canon bc i think their goofy look just kinda fits xD

I have a lot of scatterbrained design notes for each of them but generally I wanted them to look similar to their original designs but with different themes. I also imagine that they have the same inscribing tools as their original counterparts but just use them differently (i.e. Magnificus paints animals, Leshy takes pictures of people as they're dying/about to die, I'm not sure what the magic equivalent for P03 would be besides maybe a spellbook that copies the essence of things, and Grimora's quill would either "write" code or write directly onto the hardware of robots).
