Tumblr media
“Gareth? Its 10pm what the fuck?” you ask the soaking wet boy climbing through your window. “This is the worst campaign in the fucking history of hellfire club y/n!” Gareth explained angrily removing his wet shoes and jacket. “I mean seriously! Wheeler and Sinclair just fucking ditched us without even a heads up” he continued as he made his way to sit on your stuffed animal covered bed, knocking some of them off as he got comfortable.
“because they decided to just not show, Eddie was a fucking dick the whole time!” he said angrily. Honestly this was the first time you’d seen him so mad. “I thought Eddie was always a dick.” You say giggling. Immediately after you realize your boyfriend is in no giggling mood. Gareth glared at you before he seemingly slipped into his thoughts. His mouth twitching as the corners of his lips turn into a smirk “Gareth? What are you smiling about?” You ask the boy, placing your hand on his upper thigh as a comforting gesture. “Um nothing I was just thinking about something that might make me feel better.” He said looking down at your hand placement. he continues “its just something Eddie told me once, he said it guarantees to get your anger out.”
You look at your boyfriend with curiosity and eagerness to help rid him of his stress. “ what is it Gareth?” You ask “you know I’d do anything to make you feel better.” You say as you scoot closer to him. The boy glanced at you with a blush tainting his cheeks as he tries to think of what to say next “Well…it’s just- I don’t know maybe it won’t work..” he stutters “It’s..a dumb idea but..I really want to try” he huffs frustrated. You begin to fit the pieces of the puzzle together realizing what your boyfriend is trying to suggest. Your lips curved into a smile as you giggled at the timidness of the boy. “Gareth I think I know what you want.” You say as you begin to rub your hands up and down your boyfriends clothed chest. Gareth’s cheeks glow a dark red as he feels his arousal growing
“Are you sure y/n?” He asks looking away from your hands and up towards your eyes. “R-really it was just a suggestion if you don’t want to w-we can stop” He stuttered out. Bitting your bottom lip you lean in towards his ear “Sweetheart I would love to make you feel good.” You whisper gently. As you pull away from his ear. Gareth takes one more look into your eyes before you’re crashing your lips into his. You reach up to tangle your hands in his fluffy brown hair and pull gently enough at the strands to earn a whimper from the boy. You nip at his bottom lip silently asking for entrance. Gareth opens his mouth partially, just enough to slip your tongue in. Your tongue explorers his mouth, all the while you feel Gareth begin to rut his hips into yours.
You pull away from his lips earning a whine from the boy. “Don’t worry honey, m’gonna take good care of you” you mutter as you begin kissing down his neck. Low whimpers and groans echo through your bedroom as your boyfriend grows more and more impatient. You bite and nip gently at the sensitive flesh causing Gareth’s noises to grow in volume. You can tell he’s growing more irritated by your slow pace. “Y/n please baby, I don’t have much patience left.” Gareth groans through gritted teeth. You decide to give in to the boy’s pleas and begin unbuttoning the damp blue jeans covering his lower half. He lifts is hips so you can easily side his jeans and boxes down his hips and gain access to his member.
Gareth lets out a shaky breath as you lean down to lick a stripe from the base of his dick to the tip. You continue that same motion slowly until you feel your boyfriend under you lifting his hips up for more. You spit gently on his member to act as lube and wrap your hand around him as you begin to slowly jerk him off. He lets out a loud moan that bounces off the pink paint covered walls in your room as his back arches off the bed slightly. “F-fuck yes so good y/n” he whimpers. You bring your mouth to suck only on the tip while your hand works on the rest. You feel him twitch under your touch as you look up and admire his tightly shut eyes and the hair that sticks to his forehead from sweat and rain. You take all of him in your mouth and moan around him, the vibrations making him cry out and grip your hair.
You can tell your boyfriend is beginning to grow closer to the edge as you speed up your movements and hollow out your cheeks. The hand he has tangled in your hair grips harder as his cock twitches in your mouth. “Fuck m’gonna cum” Gareth grunts as he looks down making eye contact with you “yeah? You gonna cum pretty boy?” You ask him smirking as you replace your mouth with your hand. Your hand is moving at a steady pace as the boy beneath you comes undone. He cums on your hand with a loud cry as he grips the sheets beneath him tightly and screws his eyes shut tight.
As your boyfriend is coming down from his high and resting in your bed you move away for a moment to go and clean your hands. You return moments later seeing your now sleepy boyfriend sprawled out on your bed in only his underwear. “Do you feel any better?” You ask as you sit next to him on the bed. “Fuck Eddie was right.”

I want a Steve who genuinely doesn't want to play DnD because it's just not his thing! He enjoys watching and thinks some of it seems fun, but just isn't interested in the time commitment, or the math, or various other parts of it.
HOWEVER he does demand, like a child when they find out someone is writing a book, to be put in every single campaign as a random npc. He doesn't want to sit down for hours roleplaying, but he does want that seductress in the tavern to have good hair and be named Stevana.
And this isn't like, something the others don't know about, it's very obvious who it is each campaign. Sometimes Eddie even convinces Steve to do the voice for the character if it's a fun one and Steve isn't at work. Steve enjoys how much it both amuses and gets on various Hellfire members nerves, especially because his characters are always... Pretty out there.
Gareth and Jeff tend to be amused by Steve's characters, unless they are actively getting in their way and even then Jeff at least normally just finds them hilarious. Freak continues to want to study Steve like a bug. A crowd favorite for the CC members but a point of annoyance for the Party was the character that Steve pitched that was infatuated with that quest's main villain and would appear randomly just to say something really suggestive about the big bad, inconvenience them somehow even in a really minor way, and then dip. They were definitely supposed to be rescuing Stefano at one point but he was basically kidnapping himself at several points. Dustin is perpetually annoyed because Steve won't play with them for real, but he WILL play a random bimbo that starts them on a quest and enjoys flirting with the older members characters.
(Will and Lucas are... Maybe a little disappointed he's never flirted with their characters but also, Steve would never do that lol.)
Eddie is fine with it, he thinks this is a great compromise. He gets that Steve doesn't want to do hours long storytelling sessions, but this way he still gets to enjoy time with Steve doing one of his favorite things - creating characters and writing the most annoying stories possible. He loves that Steve is participating in even just a small way, and honestly only having him participate for a little bit at a time is better for Eddie's ability to stay on task anyway. He knows Steve wouldn't have fun being a player but he also knows Steve loves being a problem.

Things I’ll never write because I lack the time to devote to it:
Corroded Coffin makes it big in the early 90s, and sure they get mistaken as a “grunge” band occasionally, but if it puts them in arenas then they’ll be grunge sometimes
Steve, of course, goes on tour with them because why wouldn’t he follow Eddie across the country (eventually the world)?
They have groupies falling all over them after every show and Steve just laughs about it because Eddie is so ridiculously in love with him he doesn’t even notice the women half naked in front of him in the autograph line
But he does notice that Gareth is just as avoidant, blushing when any attention is on him, but never does anything beyond a polite smile and autograph
Eddie tells him it’s because he’s never even kissed someone before, that he’s always been a romantic at heart who thinks the first time should be “special” (insert fond eye roll here) and Steve actually feels bad for him
Because how will he find that on the road? He has women coming up to him every night, but none of them would be “special”
Steve thinks for weeks, and Eddie knows something’s up but doesn’t ask. He knows Steve will come to him when he’s ready
And then after witnessing an especially awkward encounter between Gareth and two fans, he finally pulls Eddie aside and asks “what if we could make it special for him? Get it out of the way?”
It’s a hard sell at first, and Steve knew it would be
That’s one of Eddie’s best friends, they’ve been best friends for nearly a decade
And he’s so protective of his relationship with Steve, of their dynamic, possessive in a way that would probably be unhealthy if they hadn’t literally almost died together
But he realizes that Steve’s right, Gareth will never make a move on someone until he’s sure they’re right for him and that won’t happen on tour
And Steve was perfect for their first time. He’s patient and gentle, even now, even when they’re in a rush on the bus before everyone gets back
Eddie offers and Gareth just laughs, but it dies out when he realizes he’s serious
He asks a lot of questions, and he takes days to decide, avoids them both so he can make the right decision for him
But he knows they’re right. They’d be perfect for his first time. He knows it’s stupid to put so much weight into something like sex, but it’s just that he wants it to mean more than rough fucking on the couch of a bar’s back room
So he agrees
He agrees as long as they’re both involved and it doesn’t just turn into one of them fucking him or getting fucked by him. He can’t deal with either of them getting jealous or being mad at him
So they agree
And the next time they get to stay in a hotel, Gareth skips getting his own room so he can have the first time he’s always pictured, even though it’s definitely not who he pictured it with

Ok, but
Imagine Gareth getting ABSOLUTELY FED UP with watching Eddie and Steve moon over each other, convinced that it’s hopeless and completely oblivious that their feelings are, in fact, 100% mutual.
So he hatches a plan to, let’s say, hurry things along.
It’s a Hellfire Night. All are in attendance in the Wheeler’s basement, including- of course- Steve Harrington himself.
The ex-jock had finally quit pretending he’d rather be elsewhere, allowing himself to watch the session unfold with obvious interest.
It was hard not to be interested in Eddie’s narratives.
They were playing a one shot as Eddie’s larger campaign was still in the works.
Their party had just stopped off to rest in a tavern and stock up on supplies, the perfect place for Gareth to put his plan into action.
“I’d like to look for some company for the night,” he stated, fixing Eddie with a smirk.
As expected, Eddie didn’t so much as blink as the rest of the party burst into giggles, leaning over the table with a smirk of his own.
“Very well. Roll perception for me.”
Gareth does, proudly calling out a 17.
Eddie nods.
“You glance toward the mostly empty bar where the barkeep is pouring a glass of fine wine for a fair elven maiden. Her hair seems to glow a pale golden hue, and-“
“Tell me about the barkeep. What does he look like?”
Eddie’s eyebrows quirk, the first sign that he’s maybe catching on to Gareth’s intentions.
Still, he continues on.
“He’s… a half elf with dark hair and eyes, and a pale scar bisecting his face.”
“Is he handsome?” Gareth presses, earning a further raised brow from Eddie.
“He’s a half elf,” the DM replies dryly.
Gareth grins.
“I approach the barkeep with a charming smile, leaning on the bar and tossing down a couple gold pieces from the pouch on my belt.
“A flagon of mead, if you please.”
Gareth attempts to school his expression into something flirtatious.
Eddie snorts but pulls himself together fast, falling into character with the ease and practice of a master.
“That’s a rather bold display of wealth, hero. You should be cautious lest someone try to take that from you,” he says in a smooth tone.
Steve straightens in his seat, his interest very clearly piqued.
It’s almost too easy.
“Is that a threat?” Gareth says in a low voice, his smirk widening.
Eddie presses a hand to his heart, feigning very mild offense tinged with amusement.
“Not at all. Simply advice. This is a dangerous town after all.”
“Pity,” Gareth shrugs, leaning his elbow against the table and meeting Eddie’s gaze dead on.
“I wouldn’t have minded a threat from one as fair as you.”
“Roll charisma,” Eddie orders, eyes twinkling with mirth as Gareth snatches up his d20 and shakes it in his fist.
He can see Steve from the corner of his eye, doing his utmost to look unaffected, but Gareth could tell he was some sort of flustered if the way he was shifting restlessly in his seat was anything to go by.
Delightful.
Gareth takes in a breath before he looks down at his die.
“Nat 20, baby,” he announces much to the wild amusement of the party.
Eddie raises his hands to cease the excited chatter, leaning in on both elbows to meet Gareth’s gaze with a positively sultry look of his own, large eyes half lidded, bottom lip caught between his teeth.
“Would you not?” he questions with a mockingly innocent tone, tilting his head so his dark curls fall down over one shoulder.
“Threats are not typically well looked upon unless you have a- heh- preference toward punishment.”
As Mike and Lucas snicker, Gareth watches Steve.
His cheeks are tinged a noticeable pink, his eyes glued to the carpet beneath his shoes as if it’s suddenly the most interesting thing in the world.
Can’t have that.
Gareth decides to up the ante.
“And what if I do? What advice have you for that, fair one?”
Eddie eyes him up and down in character, leaning in even closer until he’s inches from Gareth’s face.
“The barkeep looks you up and down consideringly. He seems to like what he sees as he slams down your flagon of mead and pushes it and your gold over toward you.
“I would advise you finish your drink and head up to your room for the night,” Eddie finishes with a sly and salacious smirk, taking hold of Gareth’s chin with his calloused fingers.
“I’ll find you when I want you.”
And there it was.
Steve Harrington’s breaking point.
Steve stands quietly from his spot in the couch, muttering a quick excuse before rushing up the steps and out of the basement.
No one else seems to notice but Gareth.
It’s not long after Steve’s hasty retreat that Eddie calls for a break, everyone dispersing to seek out snacks and bladder relief.
Gareth makes his way upstairs after relieving himself, intent on rewarding his hard work with a slice of Mrs. Wheeler’s chocolate cake when a sound from outside catches his attention.
He approaches the window overlooking the backyard, slowly pulling the curtain aside to see…
Steve Harrington pinned against the side of the house with an armful of Eddie, their mouths connected in the most aggressive kiss Gareth has ever seen.
It looks like they’re trying their damnedest to eat each other, Eddie’s hands tangled in Steve’s hair, Steve’s shoved up the back of Eddie’s shirt.
Gareth holds back a snort at the loud thump that sounds as Eddie shoves his thigh between Steve’s legs, the ex-jock’s head smacking against the side of the house as he lets out a low groan.
With a self-satisfied grin, Gareth pulls the curtains closed once more, slices himself a nice big piece of cake, and trots back down the stairs to the rest of the party, pre-preparing an explanation for what exactly was keeping their DM.
The End 🖤

Gareth is a big Steddie supporter and I'll die on that hill. He's a junior in season 4 which means he was a sophomore in Steve's senior year so he only really maybe saw his King Steve persona in his freshman year and I doubt Steve or Tommy picked on many freshman when they were juniors, more interested in girls, so all of his negative Steve knowledge comes second hand from accounts from his older friends.
So when Eddie is suddenly like nah Steve is cool, and Dustin has always been like Steve is cool when he gets dropped off at Hellfire, it's only Jeff and the other senior (does he have a name yet all the fics just randomly give a name) who are wary of Steve. Gareth sees Steve dressed in his sweater and soft smile, who sits quietly watching Hellfire and comes to all the Corroded Coffin shows cheering.
So of course he's the first of Eddie's friends to accept Steve and also the first one to notice how Eddie looks at Steve and how Steve looks back. He's never seen Eddie look so soft and genuine with someone before and he likes seeing Eddie happy, cause Gareth is basically Eddie's Robin, ride or die. He gives the shovel talk to Steve at the same time as telling him he should ask out Eddie.
While the rest of the band is wary of Steve and Dustin is too busy thinking his two older brothers are super cool, Gareth is Steddie Fan #1.

I’m having a lot of thoughts about super protective Steve right now, but I’m also having a lot of writer’s block so I don’t have the energy to actually set the whole scene.
I need Billy and Steve delivering pizzas and snacks to The Party (including the Corroded Coffin guys) to wherever they’re holding their campaign. Maybe somewhere in the woods because it’s aesthetic and the weather is nice, like out by Castle Byers.
The kids are fine with Harringroveson for the most part by now, though a couple of them (namely Dustin) don’t always get along the best with Billy. He tries really hard so it’s getting better, but progress is slow. He’s still detested by the Corroded Coffin guys (namely Gareth).
I love the misunderstood character trope for some reason. I love the idea of other characters hating Billy’s image, the idea of him, but when they get to know him as more than the asshole jock they peg him as, they realize he isn’t all that bad.
Maybe Gareth makes one too many comments about not wanting Billy there. Calls him an asshole and provokes him with the intention of validating his own perception of the blond. Maybe even goes as far as to insinuate that the only reason Eddie or Steve are with him is because of his looks. Something mean that’s said in a teasing tone, but hits just as hard despite it.
Billy doesn’t react with white hot rage like everyone’s expecting. He turns away and walks through the woods back to the car with a look of shame on his face, and Steve immediately jogs to catch up with him, lacing their fingers together as they weave through the trees.
Eddie stands there anxiously, wondering if he should follow them or if it’ll overwhelm his already upset boyfriend. He turns back to the group and looks pointedly at Gareth. Not angry. Just disappointed.
Which some could argue is worse.
“C’mon, man,” he sighs, gesturing vaguely. “You couldn’t be cordial until they left? He didn’t even do anything.”
“Made ‘em leave faster, didn’t it?”
Gareth’s tone is less sure than before, because after all, he isn’t a malicious person at his core. He’s clearly at odds with himself about hurting Billy’s feelings — he didn’t even think it was something that could happen.
Eddie just shakes his head and sighs.
“Well, you’ve poked the bear, so now shit’s gonna get testy.”
“What, like—“ Gareth gulps and his eyes blow wide. “Like Hargrove’s gonna kick my ass or something?”
At the words, Eddie laughs. Crosses his arms and sobers when he hears twigs crunch in the distance, a set of footsteps approaching once again.
“Not Billy,” Eddie whispers.
As if on queue, Steve emerges from between the trees. His jaw is clenched and his shoulders are squared. He gets eyes on Gareth before anything else, which has him scurrying up out of his seat on the floor. Ready to bolt.
Steve stops beside Eddie. Shrugs his hand off of his shoulder when Eddie sets it there and points an accusatory finger at Gareth. The movement makes him flinch even though he’s still a handful of feet away.
“I dunno what your fucking problem is, but you don’t say shit like that about my boyfriend when I’m around, you hear me?” Steve seethes. He eyes Gareth up and down like he’s sizing him up before he simply tsks and shakes his head. “You can find your way home in the dark for all I care, so don’t bother asking for a ride when the game’s over.”
He stares until Gareth nods, at which point some of the rage relaxes out of him. Only slightly.
Then he turns to Eddie.
“Get on the radio when you’re done?” he says much more softly. “I’m gonna go ahead and take him home.”
“Is he alright?”
“Yeah, but you know how he is.”
Eddie nods and cracks a smile.
“Big ol’ softie.”
“Mhmm.”
Steve mirrors his expression. Leans in for a quick kiss, then casts Gareth a final glare before he takes his leave.
Once he’s gone, Eddie huffs a laugh and intertwines his fingers over the back of his head.
“Jesus. Give him a while, he’ll get over it,” he dismisses. Glances over at Gareth, who looks about as startled as a mouse that’s been dropped into a snake pit. “Maybe.”
“Maybe?”
“I dunno, you could probably speed up the process by making Billy a cake or something.” When Gareth furrows his eyebrows, Eddie shrugs and laughs again. “I’ve never pissed Steve off that bad, but I have hurt Billy’s feelings before. My boy loves him some chocolate cake.”
There’s a beat of silence. Then two.
They wind up having to wrap the game up faster than they anticipated, because the nice weather becomes a drizzle which becomes a pour.
Steve goes against his word and gives Gareth a ride home.
The next day, he’s standing on their porch with a Tupperware container full of chocolate cupcakes that say srry 4 b-ing an a-hole in blue icing on top.
Billy immediately shoves one into his mouth and Steve reluctantly forgives Gareth, meanwhile Eddie is laughing his ass off because he didn’t really expect him to take his suggestion seriously.

Steve, Gareth and Chrissy are cousins AU (sad edition) [prologue] [part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 5] [Part 6] [Part 7] [Final Part]
"So," Robin says after they clink their molotov cocktails together, "do we also get to talk about the whole cousin situation now?"
Steve looks across the field, where Eddie and Dustin are defending themselves from invisible enemies. Gareth and Lucas are swinging the finished spears at each other while Erica shakes her head at them, working on a third. It looks like Nancy is showing Max the proper way to hold a shotgun, which isn't nearly as bizarre as it probably should be.
"What's there to talk about?"
"Are you doing okay?" Robin asks.
Steve doesn't mean to making a scoffing noise. It just leaves his body involuntarily. "No. But I'm not the only one not doing okay. Now that we know Vecna doesn't have to do the whole weeklong build up to murder town, that he could get any of us, as any time and he's just being a sadistic bastard-"
"Steve. He'll take the bait. If nothing else, we have to believe that."
Steve looks from Max to Gareth, then back to Robin. "Yeah. Right."
Robin is quiet for a moment, before her eyes flick away and back to him again. "Do you want to talk to Gareth? He was... God, Steve, it was awful, hearing him scream for you. While Vecna was... Anyway, I know you two are like avoiding each other for whatever reason, but I think you can let go of whatever it was."
"I just wanted to keep them safe, Robbie," Steve swallows down the sob that wants to break free. "I never wanted them involved in this. I was so scared that I'd somehow infect them with the Upside Down that I just kept them away and it took Chrissy anyway. It-it-"
"It hasn't taken Gareth, though," Robin says softly, cutting Steve's spiral off. "It hasn't taken him. But he needs you. I think you need him, too. You should talk. Before we drop him at the Creel house. Because."
She doesn't finish, but that's fine. Steve knows what she's saying. They could die today. Any one of them. Chrissy died without Steve making it right. He'd started to work on hanging out with Chrissy again, but it was all surface level. He didn't even apologize. With Gareth he could justify, however shitty that was to do, that he was staying away because Gareth asked him to.
Chrissy hadn't asked for Steve to step out of her life. He'd done that himself in '83.
He can't do right by Chrissy anymore, but he can try with Gareth.
He stands and Robin gives his knee two solid pats before he walks away.
Tumblr media
"Dustin, you piss off Steve somehow?" Eddie asks.
Gareth, in the middle of facing off with Lucas, pauses to look around, which gains him a light tap to his side by Lucas' spear. Sure enough, Steve is stalking their direction with a grim determination on his face.
"What, why am I the one getting the blame?" Dustin says, offended.
"It is usually you," Lucas adds, which earns him a squawk of indignation from Dustin, who shoots back, "he could be coming to lecture you for making Erica do all the spear making!"
Steve doesn't approach either boy, though.
"Hey, can we talk?" Steve asks once he comes to a stop in front of him.
"Got some end of the world regrets, Harrington?" Gareth says, trying to keep his voice lighter than he feels. He wants to tease Steve, not bully him.
He must succeed because Steve gives a chuckle and says, "I don't think we have time for all the end of the world regrets, so, uhh, just the one for now."
"We're cool, dude," Gareth says, eyes flicking from Steve to Eddie. The kids know, Gareth told them himself, but Eddie doesn't. "I started it."
"Yeah, but I graduated and still pretended you didn't exist. Which isn't what you asked for."
Gareth shrugs, because he doesn't know everything but he knows enough. Learned this isn't anyone else's (besides Eddie and his) first rodeo or whatever. That there have been other times, dating back to the year Will Byers was lost for a week. "Dude. Seriously. We're cool. You've been dealing with... whatever the fuck this is. So, just, like promise to be around more once we all survive this."
Steve looks pained but before he can reply, Eddie cuts in, "I'm sorry. How do you know each other?"
Gareth looks to Steve, who just shrugs as if to say your friend, you responsibility and honestly? Fuck Steve Harrington. Keeps traumatizing secrets and pushes Gareth away and also throws him to the wolves. Except, this is the secret Gareth has been keeping from Eddie. He sighs and turns to Eddie. "Well, uh, Steve's my cousin. We used to be super close before I started high school. Actually, Steve here is the reason I joined Hellfire!"
Eddie seems to go through all 7 stages of grief before settling into a confused. "I'm sorry. Steve talked you into joining Hellfire?"
"That is not what I did!" Steve defends himself.
"God no. He just went into great detail about how loud and obnoxious and attention-grabbing the current president was, as if that would make me want to not meet you for some reason."
"It was a warning!" Steve yelps at the same time Eddie sing-songs, "You think I'm attention-grabbing, Harrington?"
Dustin, Lucas, and Erica are all laughing at Steve has he tries to sputter through what he meant by attention-grabbing ("It's hard to not pay attention when he's shouting from the top of a lunch table!"), and Gareth just watches on, amused.
After they fight an... evil wizard? Vecna or whatever his name is. Once this is over, Gareth is going to sit Steve down and make him tell him everything, but that can wait.
He wants to watch Steve flounder trying to defend himself from the accusations of watching Eddie just a bit too much back in high school.
Later, as they all pack up and load up in the RV, Nancy stops Steve from entering the RV, ushering everyone past until Gareth and Steve are the only ones left outside.
"Are we acknowledging that you're cousins, now?" she asks.
"You knew!?" Steve sounds surprised. Gareth's surprised, too.
Nancy just rolls her eyes. "Steve, I've been to your house." When that just makes Steve look confused, she rolls her eyes and says, "there are family pictures covering almost every inch of your living room."
"Why didn't you say anything sooner?" Robin pipes in, appearing in the doorway with an angry expression.
"It wasn't really my thing to talk about, was it?"
"Yeah, but did you even check in with Steve? If you knew, and knew what happened to Chrissy- you didn't even ask if he wanted to go to the funeral!"
"Robin!" Steve hisses.
Nancy doesn't look upset by whatever accusation Robin seems to be trying to make. "If Steve wanted to go, he could have said something. We aren't his keepers. But, also," her gaze goes from Robin to Steve, "I didn't want to pry or seem pushy. I figured you'd tell us when you were ready."
Robin frowns but doesn't say anything else, disappearing back into the RV. Gareth gestures for Steve and Nancy to go first, and then he's closing and locking the door behind him before heading to sit by Eddie along the back bench seat. A bunch of shit has been piled there, so Gareth shoves it off the seat and to the floor. The pile of things ends up being a hazard and he almost brains himself while turning to sit down; something under his foot slides and Eddie saves him, yanking him to fall onto Eddie. After some fussing and laughter from those around, Gareth gets seated and looks down to see what almost killed him.
It's a phone book.
Eddie leans in close once they're back on the road to town to whisper, "so, you just let me go on all those rants about King Steve and never once thought to tell me you were related?"
Gareth just gives him his best impression of a King Steve smirk and says, "I would have hate to have deterred you from talking about your favorite school subject."
It's worth seeing the scandalized look on Eddie's face, even as the man socks him in the leg for the comment. "I hate you, man."
Gareth rubs his leg and says, "you don't mean that."
There's a long silence from Eddie after that before he says, "you're right. I don't mean that. And. Uh. In case I don't- in case it goes south down there but ends up fine up here, I just-"
"No," Gareth growls. "Fuck you, Eddie. We're going to be fine. All you gotta do is shred on your guitar and get the hell out. You're going to be fine."
"You didn't see the bats."
"Eddie."
"Fine. It's gonna be fine," Eddie agrees and falls silent.
Gareth frowns at that. Eddie must really be worried, to not argue back like he usually does. Gareth's worried, too, but what can he do?
He thinks about his mom. When did he last tell her he loves her? If they don't succeed tonight, will he get a chance to say it again? Will anyone get a chance to say it again?
Gareth looks down at the phone book at his feet.
Tumblr media
"Wait, does anyone have change for a payphone?" Gareth asks from somewhere behind him. Steve turns in his seat to look into the back of the RV.
"Uh, yeah," Robin digs into her pockets, but then narrows her eyes at Gareth and asks, "wait. Who are you calling?"
"I have to let my mom know I'm alive. Just... hear my voice," Gareth says. "She needs to know I'm okay. It's already been too long since last we talked and... after Chrissy she was..."
Robin's face drops into the guiltiest look Steve's ever seen on her face and she produces her wallet, dropping the whole thing into Gareth's open hand. "Yeah, no. Sorry. There's still plenty of time for a phone call before the end of the world. You better return my wallet, Cunningham."
"I'm not going to rob you, Buckley," Gareth says before ducking out the RV with Max, Lucas, and Erica.
Steve tries not to let the guilt well up in him as they drive away. Gareth had wanted to come with Team Kill Vecna but Steve had quickly argued against that. He wasn't going to let Gareth anywhere near the Upside Down.
So it was decided. Max, Lucas, Erica, and Gareth at the Creel house, Dustin and Eddie on distraction, and Nancy, Robin, and Steve were going to face down Vecna.
There was still hours to go before they'd try, with a time set for 9:20ish, since that's the time Vecna's been enacting his curse according to Eddie's broken watch. Plenty of time to fortify Eddie's house in the Upside Down, plus the almost 40 minute walk to the Creel house from Forest Hills.
This was going to work. It had to.
Tumblr media
Max and Lucas opt for hiding around the back of the house, waiting for time to pass until it's closer to dark, and Erica said she was going to snoop around the abandoned playground, so Gareth decided to head to the payphone a couple of blocks down the street.
He makes it halfway there before Erica scares the shit out of him by saying, "why do you need a phone book?"
Gareth yelps and spins, stupidly trying to hid the book behind his back even though he knows she already saw it. "I- uh, no. No reason."
Erica eyes him and he's suddenly very aware of whatever Eddie saw in her that night at Hellfire, that let her join the club. She's pretty scary for a middle schooler. "Do I look stupid? Who are you calling." It's not a question. It's a demand.
"I'm going to try and get a hold of Eddie's uncle," Gareth answers, trying to sound like an authority figure. "Tell him he'll find Eddie at his home at eight tonight. I know you all are so used to not telling people but this is- we need a real adult and Wayne's an army vet. He'll know how to help. He'll want to help."
She purses her lips, stays quiet for a moment before she nods. "I'm usually surrounded by stupid people, but you're kind of not one. I've got more change if you need it."
Gareth calls the plant and asks to speak to Wayne Munson. It's a bit of back and forth before the secretary agrees, but only if Wayne agrees to speak to a Gareth Cunningham. The plant must be getting calls from angry locals.
"Are ya really Gareth, or are ya just wantin' ta yell at me for helpin' raise the devil incarnate?" Wayne sounds tired and Gareth feels bad for him.
"Eddie would love for you to call him that to his face when you see him again."
"Thank God, son," Wayne sounds relieved. He must recognize Gareth's voice. "Ya okay? No one's harrassin' ya, are they?"
"No. Listen Wayne, I'm going to say something crazy but please just listen and do your best to be casual. I know where Eddie is. Or, where he will be at eight tonight. He's.... not physically hurt but he's going to need you. He might hate me for telling you this but I had to."
There is a pause where all he hears through the phone is a long inhale followed by a slow exhale. "Mmm hmm. I appreciate yer concern and glad ta hear no one's botherin' ya just for knowin' Eddie."
Gareth is only confused for a moment before he realizes Wayne is trying to make this conversation sound routine from his end. "Just. He's going home. But please don't show up until after eight. If you... if you beat him home he might run. Try to keep you out of this, y'know?" Gareth is just lying now, but he's a teenage boy in a garage band that plays in a dingy bar at the edge of town. That is to say, he knows how to lie off the cuff.
"I read ya loud and clear. I'll let ya know as soon as Eddie's been found safe so ya can quit worryin'. I gotta get back to it, but thanks for reachin' out."
Gareth hangs up and looks to Erica. "Well. Let's hope I haven't ruined everything."
"Let's hope that you know Wayne as well as you think you do."

Maybe it's just the jock in me, but I think about Steddie going to the gym soooo much. For a lot of different reasons lmao. Part of it is that I think it's a great place for Eddie to thirst and be confused at how homoerotic so many of the rituals around the gym are, but also because there's a lot of humor in Eddie going to the gym.
He has a lot of energy, and we know he has some muscle, likely just from day to day activity, mechanics, band equipment, etc. He seems like he would enjoy being outdoors, and hiking or exploring. Something that is a work out but doesn't feel like one if you do it right. Despite all that, he absolutely has the vibe of someone who hated gym class (which, same), and probably would claim to hate working out/doing physical activity.
I just know that when Steve finally convinces him to go to the gym with him, Eddie would be SO MAD at how much he loves it and how great it makes him feel. He is absolutely that post that is like "you mean regular exercise is good for you and makes you feel good???? is good for your mental health??"
He feels lied to, he feels cheated. Maybe he should've expected this, now that he's dating a jock, but he thought that his jock was an exception. He hates jocks. What is happening to him.
Of course part of it is just that it's not gym class, which is not good at catering to any demographic other than "generally athletic and doing a school sport". Another part is that Steve is very big on making sure he doesn't hurt himself, and making sure that why he lifts and shit are at the level he is actually at. Steve would not allow him to overwork himself. He likes that he looks after him and likes that they are able to do something together that aligns with Steve's interests and not the nerd herd's.
It becomes a great way for them to spend time together in public, and it's extra fun when Robin comes along, or when they manage convince one of the others to join them.
The funniest part would be how much his friends would heckle him for it though. It's all affectionate, but Gareth every practice makes a joke about how he knows how Luke Skywalker feels, now that his "father" has betrayed him. Lucas is smug every time he shows up for a session with Steve, and Eddie is there too. it takes a lot for Eddie to remind himself he can't fight a toddler.
(He refuses to admit that he knows Lucas would win.)
The worst though, as @starsvs brought up, is that Steve would look at Eddie, who loves the outdoors, is good at staying hydrated for dnd/the band, and is now working out regularly? And go "babe I think you're a jock now" and Eddie would lose. his. shit.
Eddie genuinely takes a moment to consider if this is what is going to cause him to dump his boyfriend, because he better take that slander back right the fuck now. Eddie? A jock? The very antithesis of everything he stands for? The sheer dramatics that statement causes is enough to keep Steve laughing for weeks. Eddie would grumble and bitch for days, laying on the floor complaining about him!! being called a jock!!! Wayne is just calmly sipping his coffee and watching his boy go on and on, because its certainly more entertaining than anything on day time tv.

Gareth being the last one to accept Steve into their little group. He was wary and probably little too mean to Steve even when the guy obviously tried his best to be nice and friendly to him, to them all really. He had his reasons.
But he also kinda kept it going even after he figured out that yeah, Steve Harrington is a good dude. Simply because it was kinda fun to make Steve squirm a little. And see how easily he could turn Eddie back to docile with a simple “Eddie please” when the guy turned into a feral dog trying to defend his bf honor or whatever. (Tho that was also kinda weird to witness, considering how headstrong Eddie is)
Gareth is regretting his hostility quite a bit tho when they finally meet ✨Will✨Because oh my god that boy is cute. And nerdy. And cute. And adorable. And smart. And beautiful. And okay okay yeah you get the point… Did he mention cute? Little sweetness to his grumpiness. And oh yeah he is getting ahead of himself again.
And suddenly he is no longer up against Eddie’s gentle and sweet pretty little princess of a boyfriend. No, he has to deal with the mama bear Steve Harrington now. And that’s scary.
(Actually Steve thinks Gareth’s crush on Will is cute. But you know, he can have little fun with this. He knows how to be menacing too and it’s payback time✨)

Matching Plaid
Tumblr media
𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Gareth Emerson x Fem! Reader
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: surprising Gareth with a red plaid skirt to match his sleeveless vest
𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: established relationship, this is pure fluff, hints of sex, this is also extremely short so this is more of a quick imagine than a long one-shot
𝗣𝗼𝘃: first Person- Y/n
Tumblr media
‘You’re fine Y/n, Gareth is gonna love it…right?’ I thought to myself as I looked at myself in the mirror of the girls school bathroom.
I had gotten a red plaid skirt that perfectly matched Gareth’s iconic red vest, basically his signature look. Mentally Praying he is gonna go nuts over it since I had spent my last 25 bucks on this damn skirt.
I haven’t seen him all day, us having different class schedules.
After a few deep breaths I had exited the bathroom and made my way to the cafeteria where lunch was taking place. I usually skipped lunch, the school lunch grossing me out a bit after I found multiple hairs and even a cockroach in my food once. Usually bringing my own snack or stealing some of whatever Gareth or Eddie had.
I quickly spotted the curly headed boy, sitting in our usual spots at the table we basically claimed for us, freaks.
“Not sure, Cunningham wants to do a drug deal in the woods after last period”
I slowly slid in between Gareth and Eddie and took a seat.
“As in Chrissy Cunningham? No way man, I me- oh hey sunshine, but I mean she is like…. goodie two shoes, someone like her wanting we-“ Gareth stopped when his eyes traveled down to my thighs and his lips parting.
He didn’t move or say anything, even when Mike and Dustin came over with their trays and sat down across from us.
“You alright there, Emerson?” Eddie asked before placing a pretzel in his mouth.
He slowly looked up at me.
“Are you wearing a red plaid skirt right now to match with me or have I finally lost it and I’m not seeing things correctly”
I giggled a little at his comment “no Gare, you are seeing correctly”
“Dude it’s just a skirt, chill” Jeff said from beside him.
He quickly whipped his head his direction. “Just a skirt?! J-Jeff look at it, it matches mine, I mean- that isn’t making you’re head spin right now? Guys?” Gareth said asking everyone else at the table.
They all shook their heads ‘no’
“Nah man” Mike said
“I think that’s only happening to you cause that’s you’re girlfriend so-“ Jeff said, taking a skip of his coke afterwards.
“Do you not like it?” I asked, already knowing he did but just something to tease him with a little.
“Like it? Not even love it, more like obsessed than anythi-“
“Okay okay please we get it, she decided to match with her boyfriend, how cute, but please cut it before y’all decide you wanna create a daycare in the middle of the cafeteria” Eddie said “please and thank you, anyways who is ready for the cult of vecna tonight?”
“Right about that, so Lucas has his-“
Quickly zoning out of whatever was being said as Gareth placed a hand on my thigh and shot a wink at me.
Well worth of last bit of money I still had left in allowance, very well worth it.
Tumblr media
𝘼/𝙣 : pls this was so rushed but like I said, I’m trying to push as much fic’s and content as I can, It had popped up in my head and I quickly turned it into a short imagine, hope you enjoyed this really short and shitty…whatever this is- 🐭🎀 x

1992, New York City, CORRODED COFFIN, with Chrissy Cunningham, celebrating their double "gold-record" for their second album  a long party and night in coming...
Chrissy is celebrating with them bc 1) she's on the cover of the album 2) she's the muse of Eddie since years 3) she helped as a manager at the beginning and still follows them on tours 4) Corroded Coffin wouldn't exist without Chrissy Cunninghan (the ‘CC’ initials 👀) and 5) they just love her. so, Gareth is the one that gets bitches daily, Jeff is the one that explore himself & his sexuality (*SPOILERS* he is into guys), Paul is the one enjoying booze &drugs a little bit too much, and Eddie is the one who happily goes back to Chrissy every night, irrevocably in love.

(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3)
The Harrington house is big and it’s nice to look at, or it would be if Gareth was into the boring minimalist style, but there’s no warmth to it.
That’s all he could notice while he was pulling off his jeans and neatly folding them up to place on the top of a chest of draws in a guest bedroom. The walls are white and the accents a single shade of brown. Even Gareth’s oppressively suburban home had more character than this.
And it just didn’t seem to fit with Steve. Steve, in Gareth’s admittedly limited understanding of him, was more suited to a smaller but still nice house, with appliances that made funny noises if they weren’t used the right way, and was always full of people. A house that had character built into its very foundations.
He met Jeff and Grant back in the kitchen, trying his hardest not to stare too long at the single family portrait hung at the end of the hallway. Jeff was wearing red shorts and Grant was wearing blue ones. It seemed that only Gareth got the memo about wearing black and committing to the Not-Cult Cult aesthetic.
“What’s the plan then, Gare-Bear?” Jeff asked as Gareth sidled up next to them.
Gareth grabbed a can off the side, it was fresh out of the fridge and had condensation trickling down the sides. He assumed it was alright to take it. “I’m gonna talk to Buckley, feel out how to go about this.”
“And what should we do?” Grant asked.
“Make sure Eddie doesn’t do anything stupid?”
Grant scoffed. “Dude, you’ve met him, be serious.”
“I am!” Gareth replied. “I want this to work out for them and that means keeping Eddie’s foot out of his mouth.”
They all paused to remember the many, many times that Eddie’s inability to shut up had gotten them in trouble. He was great at talking himself out of trouble as well, but it was always preferable to not be in trouble in the first place.
“So make sure Eddie doesn’t say something stupid before he can confess his love and get a pass for all the stupid shit he says?”
Gareth allowed himself to chuckle. “Yeah, something like that.”
He led them all back out to the garden, cracking open the can as he went. The cold liquid felt good sliding down his throat; it wasn’t quite the peak of the summer and it was only going to get hotter, but Gareth didn’t think there was much point in not enjoying the smaller things in life.
Eddie was perched on the edge of the pool, kicking his feet gently where they were submerged in the water, as he spoke to Steve. Steve who was in the pool but had pulled himself out enough to rest his crossed arms on the poolside and use them as a pillow for his head. They looked like they belonged in a movie; so caught up in one another that they didn’t react to the screaming from the others playing chicken (Nancy on Jonathan’s shoulders and Robin on Argyle’s).
Gareth was shocked to see the way Steve was looking at him. He knew Steve was into Eddie, that much was obvious, but until that moment he had just thought it was a little crush.
This put a bit of a spanner in the works of his original plan of getting everyone to play enough party games until they could get Steve and Eddie together in seven minutes in heaven.
“Eddie!” Jeff shouted, “Did you smoke all the weed while we were getting changed?”
Eddie gasped dramatically, clutching at his heart. “Would I ever do that to you Jeffy?”
“Yes,” Jeff deadpanned.
Steve laughed delightedly, bumping Eddie in the knee with his elbow.
“Fine, fine,” Eddie threw his hands up in surrender. “Stevie said we aren’t allowed to smoke and swim so we didn’t light it.”
“I don’t want you to drown,” Steve said quietly, a haunted look crossing over his face that left as quickly as it came.
Eddie reached out to squeeze his shoulder, something unsaid passing between them. “I’m still here.”
Steve nodded, then shook his head with a small smile, as if he knew he was being silly.
Gareth shared a glance with his band mates, Eddie pointedly avoiding it. Another thing that would never be explained to them.
Luckily the game of chicken came to an end with Robin crashing down into the water, her legs pulling Argyle with her, to the tune of Nancy and Jonathan yelling in triumph to break Steve out of whatever spiral he’d fallen into.
Steve turned towards them with a smile. He patted Eddie’s hand where it was still on his shoulder then pushed off from the wall to join his friends, calling for his turn.
Eddie’s hand hovered in the air for a second before falling back down to his side.
Robin broke off from the group, stating her intention to grab another drink as she furiously tried to push her now wet hair out of her eyes. Argyle eagerly called for Steve to go against Nancy this time.
Gareth nodded to Jeff and Grant. “Go cheer him up. I hate it when he looks like a kicked puppy.”
“Guy doesn’t know what he has with those eyes, I swear,” Jeff mumbled as he and Grant moved to sit either side of Eddie, both bumping shoulders with him.
Gareth waited until Robin was digging through the cooler and muttering to herself to join her.
She jumped slightly as she turned away from the cooler and realised that Gareth was there, evidently having not heard him approach.
“Buckley,” He greeted.
“Emerson.”
Gareth winced. This wasn’t supposed to be some sort of Mexican standoff. So he changed angles.
“Eddie says you know about him.”
Robin’s features softened. “Yeah and I know you’re protecting your friend, but I promise I will never ever do anything to hurt him. None of us will.|”
Gareth smiled. “I wasn’t worried about that.”
“So what can I help you with?”
Gareth rubbed his hands over his face. He was suddenly faced with no idea how to word his questions.
“Have you noticed that Eddie has a crush?”
Robin laughed loudly, waving away the bemused glances thrown her way from the pool. “Yeah, I have. I’ve noticed Steve’s too because I know that’s going to be your next question. They’re kinda unbearable to be around sometimes.”
“Oh,” Gareth chuckled, a weight lifted off his shoulders. “Good.”
“Why? Are you planning something?” She sat forward, a manic smile on her face and clutching her can so hard there were small dents in the aluminium from her fingers.
“I was thinking seven minutes in heaven but...” he sighed. “They’re too into each other to have their moment be during a stupid game.”
“You really care about Eddie, don’t you?” Robin asked gently.
Gareth narrowed his eyes on her. “Of course I do, he’s my best friend.”
Robin held her hands up in surrender. “I’m not judging you. I feel the same way about Steve.”
“Good. That’s good”
They both fell quiet as they watched their friends. Steve, on Argyle’s shoulders, laughing at Nancy and Jonathan arguing as they strategised. Eddie was squashed between Jeff and Grant, batting on their chests to release him. If it weren’t for his hair not being tied back, Gareth knew he would have thrown himself into the pool to escape. He knew Jeff and Grant knew that as well.
“So what are we going to do?” Gareth asked.
“I don’t know,” Robin said. “But we’ll figure something out.”
They spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool. Gareth and Eddie made a great team for the chicken tournament, but Argyle won the biggest splash competition they got going. It was funny to just act like teenagers, no school to worry about or crazy religious types out on witch hunts.
Steve handed them all towels as the sun began to go down. Their fingertips wrinkled and dry as Eddie finally got to light the joints to pass around. They laughed and shared stories; Gareth even got to share his favourite about Eddie calling him from a phone booth in the middle of the night so Gareth could steal his mom’s car to go get him since his plan to hitchhike his way home failed.
At some point, pizza was ordered while they lazed around. The joints had long since been smoked down to their cherry and discarded on the floor to clean up later when they were less drunk or high. Steve had told them not to worry about it.
Gareth spent his time watching Steve and Eddie pass tapes back and forth, heads leant close as they discussed the music on them, occasionally stopping the tape playing so they could switch it out for whatever song they were agreeing or disagreeing about. He made eye contact with Robin who just smiled gently, so fond of her friends. If he was able to see himself, her look was probably reflected on his own face.
The doorbell rang, heard out in the yard only because Steve’s parents had a device installed that rang a bell outside in case they weren’t inside to be able to hear the actual doorbell.
Steve jumped up to get it.
“Eddie go help him,” Robin said, pushing her toes into Eddie’s arm in a half hearted shove.
“Stevie’s got it,” Eddie moaned, clearly not wanting to move from his spot.
Robin shared a conspiratorial grin with Nancy, then both chorused, “Don’t ya, big boy.”
Jonathan and Argyle looked just as confused as Gareth felt. He never got the full story from Eddie about what happened over spring break, Eddie was alive and that was enough for him, but sometimes he wished he could know just so he understood what the fuck was going on.
Eddie flushed bright red all over his body. “Shut up,” he hissed. But it was evidently enough to get him to jump and follow Steve into the house.
Before Gareth could even attempt to ask about it, Nancy swung her legs around off the sun lounger and clasped her hands together.
“So,” She said as she pushed her sunglasses up into her hair. “We all saw that right?”
“Saw what?” Robin squeaked.
Gareth didn’t bury his face in his hands at her lack of subtlety.
“Steve and Eddie are very obviously flirting with each other,” Nancy said slowly, deliberately.
Jonathan hummed in agreement. “Yeah, it’s not the first time either.”
Robin opened and closed her mouth like a fish as she tried to come up with something to say. Obviously she couldn’t say anything that would out her best friend, but if she denied being able to see it then she ran the risk of being committed to a mental institution. She looked scared.
“And is that a problem, Wheeler?”
Gareth couldn’t be sure where the venom in his voice came from, he was sure that Nancy Wheeler was a nicer girl than her pinched features sometimes made her appear, but seeing Robin flounder and the thought of Eddie facing even more bullshit  than he already had made something protective flare to life inside of him.
Nancy sniffed disdainfully. “Obviously not. I would die for those two, I just want them to be happy.”
A tense silence fell over them.
“They don’t know that we know,” Robin said quietly.
“So we can’t be obvious,” Jonathan replied. “Doesn’t mean we can’t encourage them in the right direction.”
Argyle, his eyes trained on the stereo still playing a Queen song, a thoughtful look on his face that looked completely alien. He turned to where Gareth, Jeff and Grant were all sitting together on the same sun lounger. “You’re in a band right?”
Shit. Argyle was right. Gareth mentally cursed himself for not thinking of it sooner. Eddie had learnt Steve’s favourite song, they were going to play Steve’s favourite song as soon as they got it down; the drunks that usually watch them would probably appreciate something more country-rock than metal.
“Argyle, you’re a genius.”
