The Smurfs can't stand the stupidity and clumsiness of the Fireman Smurfs anymore. They then organize a competition to recruit a new brigade. But Clumsy Smurf and Dimwitty Dopey Smurf don't want to let themselves be ousted, they decide to participate in the tests in incognito mode, disguised as Acrobat Smurfs and Duck...

The time has finally come to pick the Salsapaparilla, this super powerful magic plant that only grows once every 300 years. Papa Smurf is excited! But he is not the only one on the spot: Willow, Leaf and even Gargamel and his mother Mummy are also looking for the plant, each convinced that it will make his wildest dreams come true… The competition will be fierce!

It's Pranks Day (April Fools Day) and Jokey (Prankster) Smurf is excited! But when he realizes that the Smurfs play pranks on each other, and ignore his own, which they consider outdated, Jokey Smurf, annoyed, leaves the village. However, Gargamel finds his trapped gifts very useful... to capture the Smurfs! Jokey Smurf will have to use all his sense of humor to save his friends from the clutches of the terrible wizard!

The Smurfs find a note from Gargamel who asks his mother to come and treat him because he is very sick. They then feel compelled to help the wizard and decide to go to his house with Doctor Smurf. Only problem: the latter has never taken care of human beings!

As Christmas approaches, Jokey Smurf mixes up the letters the Smurfs have instructed him to send to Santa Claus. As a result, when the gifts were unwrapped, no one had what they had ordered! Except for Jokey Smurf himself, no one finds it funny. And especially not Brainy Smurf who finds himself with Gargamel's magic dentures, crossed by our prankster when the wizard was also going to post his letter to Santa Claus. Feeling guilty, Jokey Smurf decides to go get the gift from Brainy Smurf where he is… at Gargamel's!

A great friend AKA An Unsmurfy Friendship

While the Smurfball Tournament is in full swing, Grumpy (AKA Grouchy) Smurf still resists the general enthusiasm. Annoyed by his bad mood, the Smurfs relegate him to the bench. Annoyed, Grouchy Smurf goes into the forest where he comes across Bigmouth, also depressed. The ogre has no friends! Rejected by everyone, the Smurf and the ogre become friends... Which is likely to make waves among the Smurfs, especially when Egghead, Bigmouth's brother, becomes jealous of Grouchy Smurf...

When he’s sidelined from the Smurfball tournament, Grouchy heads to the forest and befriends Bigmouth.

This year, the Girls Smurfs have invited all the Smurfs to their big Equinox ball. Hearing the news, Gargamel and Azrael transform into Girl Smurfs and infiltrate the preparations. The wizard's objective: pour an evil filter into the Sarsaparilla cocktail and get rid of all the Smurfs once and for all. But that was without counting Begonia, who takes Gargamel for her first cousin, and Wild Smurf, who falls under the spell of this Girl Smurf unlike any other... Will the Smurfs unmask the two imposters in time?

When the Smurf Girls invite all the Smurfs to their Grand Equinox Ball, Gargamel and Azrael crash the party.

Jokes aside this is the funniest fcking theory to have come out of NTOB so far. They literally had a canonical mother design for Gargamel that was IN THE COMICS too so it’s not like the team could have said ‘well we don’t look at the 80s series’ 

So as far as I’m concerned two-mom Gargamel is as good as any other theory

More Rocketshipping please

Dear friends, I noticed that many of us are unhappy with the lack of rocketshippy scenes in the anime...same here! Listen, I promise to start writing more Rocketshipping fanfictions and oneshots in January, because I simply love them and I want you to feel excited about new stories, knowing that there will be plenty of cute and romantic moments between Jessie and James. Here are some of my ideas and plans for 2018: “Learning to fly”: James wants to become a Pokéringer. He flees from home with nothing but a bag of money and Growlithe. On his way to XY (city unknown at the moment) he meets a vivacious young woman and a talking Pokémon-cat. This story will be dedicated to Tom Petty who inspired me with songs like “Learning to fly” and “Free fallin’“. It’s a long journey to the top. You’ll learn about the character’s past, about loves and losses, about their hopes and dreams and how they eventually became friends. “Double Trouble in Abu Simbel”: First part of what might turn out as a trilogy (Part II will be called “A mess in Loch Ness”). Gargamel and Brainy (from The Smurfs) meet Team Rocket and the Mystery Inc. (Scooby-Doo). They have to solve the riddle of Ramesses II and tame a mummy that went completely crazy. Learn how Velma and Gargamel try to decipher the various inscriptions in the temple, learn how Jessie and Daphne try to get along and how James takes one of the most important and lifechanging decisions. “Maria’s Butler III: Frigths are no delights”: Let me give you a couple of keywords - ghost-type Pokémon - Rocketshipping - treasure - movie - frights - secret passages - romance - success - talkshow + I’m always open for suggestions and ideas for Rocketshipping oneshots ;)

I always hated how the cartoon never gave Gargamel’s Mummy any actual design outside of “old women Gargy” despite her having cute gypsey-witch outfits in the comic. She also never had a name, so I gave her one. 

Canon also never gave us Gargamel’s father. So I designed him one. Flozax was a  Beast-control Hedge Wizard.

@nicow4fer and I also headcanon that while Gargamel’s mother was mean and disappointed when he turned out to be a failure. She does love him and she poisoned Flozax to death after the whole well incident.

Schleich Smurf House with Papa Smurf and Gargamel and Azrael

I have always been a massive Smurfs fan so I have unsurprisingly passed my love of the little blue characters on to my three kids. We are all very excited about the new Smurfs movie, Smurfs: The Lost Village which is due to be released on the 31st March with preview screenings in some cinemas this weekend the 25th March. The exciting news is that Schleich have released a fantastic new range of Smurfs Figures and Playsets that will allow fans to relieve their favourite film scenes. We were sent a Smurf House with Papa Smurf and figures Gargamel and Azrael to review.

The Schleich Smurf House with Papa Smurf and figures Gargamel and Azrael is not just fantastic quality, the kind of which we have come to expect from Schleich, but it is impressively detailed with realistic characters and the things we find in their surroundings. 

The playset contains a large iconic red and white toadstool Smurf house with working doors with a key which Zachary loves, windows with shutters that open and close that have a lovely heart shaped detail on them that Zoey spotted straight away, there are even little flowers on the roof to make it perfectly authentic. Included in the set are two figures, Papa Smurf and Gargamel with his loyal cat Azrael  to help make the Smurfs world come to life. 

The Playset requires some assembly but it is pretty straightforward to do,  here is what comes in the box. 

I love the fact that the instructions come are in a Smurf treasure map style which is very authentic and a lovely touch. 

Our Verdict

My kids are even more excited about the release of the new Smurfs movie now they have had a chance to play with the Smurf House and characteres. They love it and have been busy making up Smurf adventures inspired by the playset. It has been amusing watching the twins play with the set as they have decided the Smurfs and Batman should join forces and Papa Smurfs House sits alongside Zachary's Batcave where they work together to fight the Joker and Penguin. You have to love kids imaginations!

Say Smurf for the Camera!

Handy invents the ancestor of the Polaroid camera so that Painter can make portraits of all the village’s inhabitants (who won’t keep still), but almost all the Smurfs end up frozen in odd positions when Jokey swipes the faulty device. Our trio of Smurfs who have not been immobilized will have to act fast to stop Gargamel and Azrael from harvesting their friends... 

A little Smurf-Knowledge! AKA Manners Matter

Papa Smurf is nervous because the new Nature Fairy (Leaf) is coming for a visit. He thinks the village is clean and tidy and everything is perfect, until he sees the Smurfs manners are terrible! He calls in SmurfWillow AKA Willow and the girls to whip them into shape but their manners are really odd, but they are no better brought up than the boys!

The Wild Smurf is encrusted AKA The Guest Who Wouldn't Leave 

After Wild sprains his ankle, Brainy, Smurfette and Hefty put him in Papa Smurf’s house to recuperate while Papa Smurf is away. But once he feels better, Wild decides he doesn’t want to leave. Brainy and the others must find a way to get Wild out before Papa Smurf returns. 

Where is my Gyrosmurf? AKA Where's My Smurfway?

When SmurfBlossom AKA Blossom borrows Brainy’s beloved Smurfway (Segway), she inadvertently misplaces it and does her best to find it hoping Brainy won’t find out. 

The Talented Justa Smurf 

Justa Smurf, who is surrounded by Smurfs who are all “Something Smurf”, is still searching for his calling. When Papa Smurf suggests that he assist the other Smurfs in preparing the Great Spring Celebration, he goes from failure to failure, humiliating himself. He then has fun mimicking the Smurfs that he’s assisting, a gift which will reveal itself to be very useful to help save the Smurfs when they get captured by the dreadful Gargamel. 

Smurf, Yes Smurf!

While Papa Smurf is away, Brainy uses a potion to finally get everyone to do as he says. The Smurfs begin obeying his every whim, but when he sends some idle Smurfs off to gather berries, they have become so docile that they start following orders from Big Mouth... who of course is planning to use them as a sandwich filling! 

Mommy's Masterpiece

When other Smurf’s bail out on posing for Painter’s [latest] masterpiece, he finds a new, seemingly more supple subject in Mummy AKA Gargamel’s Mother. Though he, at first, believes her to be a true art lover, he soon discovers she’s a fickle friend and as evil as ever. And in the service of saving his friends, Painter must learn to sacrifice his art.  

Burglar Smurf AKA A Thief Among Us!

When the Smurf’s favorite things start disappearing all over the Village, everyone gets worried and suspicious. Brainy’s investigation is supposed to help, but it brings more questions than answers. Who could be the culprit? Could it be one of the Smurfs? What they will discover will surprise them beyond what they could have imagined!  

A Bulky Admirer AKA Ogre Love Pt. 1 and 2

When Smurfette pulls a splinter from Big Mouth’s thumb, he immediately falls in love with her and follows he back to the village. After he eats all the food and causes a host of problems, Smurfette asks him to leave. Not happy, he decides to take Smurfette back to his home! 

Big Mouth the Ogre has fallen in love with Smurfette and has brought her back to his lair. Unable to escape, Smurfette must concoct an elaborate plan that involves none other than Gargamel! 

The Observasmurf Course AKA Back to Nature 

Vanity, Poet and Dimwitty Dopey get lost in the forest while out plant-picking and show that they are incapable of bringing the correct plant back to Papa Smurf... Seeing as all Smurfs have to know how to take care of themselves in nature, Papa Smurf decides to send them to Wild for some nature lessons, supervised by Brainy. However, and of course, nothing goes as planned...

Can’t wait till NTOB retcons Gargamel’s Time Trip and we find out a bunch of Smurfs pushed his mummy off a cliff when he was a boy and that’s why he wants to kill them

Did he always show an interest in magic? (Since childhood or not) or did he have other plans for his future for career paths?

His first and preferred choice had always been Alchemy. Potion brewing came naturally but he had desired to be a great evil wizard as his father had been. However, he just wasn’t that good at the black arts, something his mother never forgave him for as he grew older (Which is pretty canon - Mummy (or Moll, as I named her since she had no canon name) always wanted Gargamel to be a great and powerful dark wizard but he just wasn’t GOOD at spellcasting without the aid of a powerful wand or amulet.) Moreso, she was disappointed he never became rich/feared enough to take care of her

Crazy idea for a crossover...

Hey friends,

so, I really need to get this idea off my chest before going to sleep.

The last couple of days, I’ve been watching good old Scooby-Doo episodes and I thought: Hey, let’s admit that Jessie, James and Meowth are some kind of scaredy-cats when it comes to spooky Pokémon...why don’t we combine those two cartoon/anime?

But, I’m not done yet^^Some of you may know that I’m fond of the Smurfs, especially Brainy and Gargamel (who’s not a smurf but the evil wizard, desperately trying to catch at least six smurfs and turn them into gold, so we have something in common, right? Team Rocket always on the hunt for Pikachu, Gargamel never getting tired of chasing poor innocent blue creatures that are extremely smart.)

What if the Mystery Inc. would, by happenstance, meet Jessie, James and Meowth in a highly bizarre scenario and Team Rocket picked up with Brainy who, they believe, is some sort of legendary Pokémon? They’re going to be introduced to Gargamel who tells them that he wants to profit from the smurfs and spend flipping amounts of cash as soon as he turned them into jingling coins? And in order to stick an additional plot twist on top of it: The whole story takes place in Egypt where the Mystery Inc. is investigating the case of a troublesome mummy... I know  it sounds totally crazy, but this would be a real challenge for me to keep all of them in character and to think about trivialties like: How would Jessie react to Daphne’s clothing style? Would Velma and Gargamel get along and would she be impressed by his knowledge about hieroglyphs? What happens with Meowth and Scooby, cat and dog? Would James and Shaggy gorge on an oppulent meal together and would Daphne find out about James’ feelings for Jessie? Would Team Rocket secretly help Gargamel to catch Brainy, hoping that the old wizard would share the money with them? So many questions...
