A little butterfly known as the Gatekeeper (or hedge brown but DAMN gatekeeper is a cool name for a creature). There’s a thing called the “edge effect” where the spots between habitats (like a meadow and a forest) support a greater diversity of species than either habitat individually. This one is a characteristic field edge species that thrives in hedgerows. This fella is doing the only good gatekeeping, imho. ;-)
[ID: a symmetrical illustration of a brown and orange butterfly with small button-like black eyespots. It is on a blue background with little yellow flowers and green leaves. End.]

He told me once that I am wise beyong my years. I wonder whether he'd still think so if he finds out about this blog. I sigh in the comfort of knowing I will never find out, exhaling both my relief and regret.
Oh, punish my life for tainting of my love!
