picard 3x07 thoughts (spoilers)

no offense and like i know it’s star trek *picard* but i literally don’t care about all these old men...like why do we need to bring data back and spend 20 minutes talking to him. he already died!! why do we need this. what is it contributing

#there's nothing at all interesting about it.#s1 and 2 felt like they focused more on the other supporting characters and actually #gave them storylines and character growth #here seven has (1) good scene and then is just standing around the rest of the time doing nothing #while we have to watch jack do more kung fu (why??)#and the old men talk for 20 min #s2 was the inverse of this it had a stupid storyline but it also gave me #amazing seven raffi content so i loved it for that simple reason alone.#this objectively has a more interesting plot but the characters i actually care about #are doing nothing lol #star trek picard #i'm so old now cause i'm like ''i can't believe i stayed up until 11:30 p.m. for this"

thinking about how the average age of getting electronics exposure has been getting lower and lower and how it probably contributed to tiktok blowing up as a platform

#older people dont like it that much #and from small surveys ive taken of my teachers and parents and then grandparent #its how simultatenous the app is how its new things after new things without any time to fully digest the medias #while kids my age and especially gen alpha kids love it for that quick paced riddled with new content each lasting around 1-2 minutes #they grew up with smartphones at the age of 4-8 #gen z kids usually have their first electronics at 10-15 #the correlation between how late a kid has their first electronic and how much they enjoy tiktok #my peers are in two main catergories: prents gave them thei gizmos when theyre in the teens and those that got the old ipods or tablets #at 7-9 years old #the later group rate tiktok as one of the top three apps they use #the former sticks to televised programmes films and books #idk #ranble #personal #<- reblogs are ok if youd like #tiktok #it just hit me #there are of course anomalies to these simple surveys i conducted such as neurodiversity (me & maybe some peeps but none of us diagnosed #my short attention span is just natural my parents & every grown up that knew me attested to this for me #but surely not every gen alphas are neurodivergent? not in such big numbers if so why? what other causes are there? idk just sayin there is #a correlation #not causation

One of the fun ways growing up poor fucks you over is that you spend the rest of your life feeling guilty for your unimaginably lavish adult lifestyle of... *checks notes* eating every day and not having to share your living space with other people.

#life #poverty #I even have a car #it's 20 years old #but the guilt is there #mental health #even in my twenties I fully expected that I'd be stuck in shitty flatshares forever #and nowadays I still have the deep-seated fear that it'll all go up in smoke any moment now #which I think is partly because my mum married rich when I was a kid and it was an absolute clusterfck #which 1) gave me a glimpse of how the other side lives and 2) made it very clear that all luck is fleeting #even if it comes with a price and you do your best to pay it #chances are it will still not be enough

I feel bad I haven’t bought any dvds in like years I think… I was better at buying movies I really loved on dvd when I was a teenager I think until I figured out how to watch stuff illegally LOL but at least I’m collecting vhs tapes now smile

#n to be fair I do always check the dvds at like goodwill n stuff they just never have smth I want lol #I was just a little more proactive abt it especially when I was a kid & well you had to but I kept doing it into my teen years after Netflix #got invented bc I’m simply a big physical media enjoyer <3 I was so mad when I had to get a new laptop w/o a disc drive even tho the 1 on my #janky old thing was so smashed up I couldn’t even use it 😭 but my 1 stipulation of the new laptop was I also had to get a usb disc drive 4it #I should also collect more cds I’m just not as charmed by them as I am cassettes & records I just have a few from my dads old collection #BUT I kind of want 2 get a mobile cd player like I had when I was rlly little before I got iPod n then I might be more invested in buying cd #I also rlly want a Walkman for my cassettes my moms friend gave me 1 but it didn’t work :( right now I just have a very uncute radio that #plays both. oh I should put more stickers on it so I feel better abt it I always forget to consider it when I get new stickers…..#sorry I just <3 physical media so much always have someday my house is just going to be lined with it <3
