Headcanon that Leo really loved to give his family massages growing up. We know that he’s good at them from the episode “You Got Served” and we know he likes spas and relaxation and getting massages himself from when he tried to get these in “Bad Hair Day” and from when Donnie made a tennis ball massage machine in “Smart Lair.”

So I think it’d be cute to think that maybe one day Leo overheard Splinter complaining about a bad back and immediately Leo thinks back to a comic or movie or something he saw where a massage helped so he offers to give one and it actually ends up helping Splinter.

Then April swings by the Lair at a later time and mentions her back hurting because of her backpack from school and Leo’s all like “I gotcha!”

From there, he occasionally manages to convince Donnie to sit for one because Donnie’s shrimp posture does not help him any (Leo pokes fun at how sandpaper-y Donnie’s shell is despite knowing it’s always like that and Donnie smacks him for it.) Donnie usually prefers hand massages instead however as all his typing and inventing adds up over time, and shoulder massages too once he starts wearing his battle shells more. Leo also figures out how to give massages to Raph and Mikey’s shells as well, though it’s a struggle at first to not scratch his hands on Raph’s spikes.

I think since Leo has such bad luck with spas and the like, he tries giving himself massages (though it’s not as helpful.) Like, with how his abilities work his legs are probably always aching from his portal jumping and one foot landings, so maybe he branches past back massages out of a need to help his own aches too. (Though he really wants a shell massage himself, the same way he’d give them…the one time with Donnie’s tennis ball massage machine was but a short moment of what Leo’s been missing out on and what he’ll continue missing out on…)

I don’t know, I just think it’d be cute to think Leo could have honed his massaging skill this way in order to help out his family (and also partially because he wants a massage himself.)

so i’m pretty new to batjokes/the dc fandom (as in the past seven days new) but in every fic i’ve read, the joker has felt… so familiar to me. like i’ve known him as a character for years. and it’s been so easy for me to get into his headspace and write his voice and so this entire past week i’ve been like ? what is going ON is this like a weird soulmate character thing?? is the joker my one true fictional dude?? i mean i’m cool with it he’s funky but wtf ?? but i just realized. it’s. he’s rumplestiltskin once upon a time.

tonight i went to an open air concert in the garden of a small castle which was so lovely, you could hear the church bells in the distance and birdsong troughout the evening <3 also for the encore people just started shouting out song titles lol and the artist actually complied and ended up playing this one song my family and i loved when i was young and it was so lovely and nostalgic to hear it with them by my side. it was a good evening!!!

There is a theory out there on the internet of Velvette secretly being Carmilla’s third daughter whom she had a fallout with and separated from, which is why they don’t see eye to eye with each other in the present. And while I’m still personally on the fence about this particular interpretation, it does make every previous fanon about Velvett's found family dynamic with the other Vee's infinitely funnier.

Finally back to business as usual-ish!

being a kid obsessed with dinosaurs while being raised christian fundamentalist (i think?) made for some very interesting moments.

books would say that dinosaurs lived hundreds of millions of years ago. my parents would say the earth was created 6000 years ago. so for a while, i thought dinosaurs were fake like dragons. and for a long while after that, i never paid attention to the estimated years because they were all clearly false.

books would say that dinosaurs evolved over their millions of years of existence, at some point some developed feathers, and that birds probably came from dinosaurs. the pastors and sunday school teachers would say that evolution wasn't real and that god created the birds as they are. i was confused and disappointed, because evolution made a lot of sense and sounded really cool to boot.

documentaries would show fossil sites and talk about how the rock can be dated. one time, i heard that god left dinosaur fossils for us to find as enrichment. another time, i was told that satan planted the fossils to sow doubt among god's followers. i thought it odd that some people thought god would want to trick his people with such an elaborate hoax.

years later, i heard someone say that god created the universe to look like it had always existed even though it was created relatively recently, and that's why the light from stars further than 6,000 light years have already reached us. i was reminded of the explanation of god putting apparently millions of years old fossils in the ground.

more recently (within the past decade and therefore i was no longer a kid nor a christian), i've heard the people who raised me to believe the things above reciting new "facts" that people have since come up with to explain away more recent scientific discoveries and conclusions. a few years ago, my grandmother had someone speak at her church, and afterwards she bought some of the books they were selling and shipped them to me. whereas twenty years ago, she'd have told me dinosaurs couldn't have existed, now she had sent me books about how actually dinosaurs were created 6000 years ago along with humans and all the other animals. these "facts" were corroborated by some other relatives next time i shared a meal with them.

they can't even keep their false facts straight because the old stories don't make sense anymore, even though the new stories aren't any better!

and i keep coming back to my early interest in dinosaurs.

the one that my mom was reluctant to allow me to pursue because of the perceived falseness of their existence. the one that i felt i had to carefully regulate what facts i expressed interest in lest my mom decide that dinosaurs were banned from being talked about the way pokemon was. and i was so so deliberate to pepper in the occasional qualifiers like "even though the bible says that's not possible, 150 millions years is a long time ago!" or "i know they're not actually going to turn into birds and this is just a drawing, but this one with the feathers does really look like it could become a bird someday."

thank god for dinosaurs (haha), because im not sure how long i would've been mired in such a closed-minded worldview otherwise. even though satan didn't sow the fossils in the earth, they did cause me to doubt the veracity of what i was taught.

I want a RWBY Volume 9 AU where everything is the same except they have social media, and somehow still get scroll signals in the Ever After because of some arbitrary magic shenanigans. So everyone in Vacuo at least knows RWBY+JN are still alive, but have no idea what's going on with them, and they're too mentally caught up in the Ever After shenanigans (or in Ruby's case her depression arc) to think to give context for all the patently batshit stuff they're posting about.

I FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK MIKE'S STORY CHECKS OUT

I feel like the main important distinction that is the line between Byler and Milkvan for Mike's plot is that you need to listen to Mike's wording.

Mike is upset with himself because he COULDN'T say it. Not because he DIDN'T say it.

He says that maybe if he had said it things would have turned differently, that applies to both, but he ALSO says that he thinks he can't come back from it and that he should have explained himself but didn't because he didn't know what to do.

If you regret not having said something and will remedy that as soon as you see them again, as is Will's interpretation and suggestion ("whatever you didn't say, you can say it to her then"), then you won't say the things you do but the main point? YOU WON'T BE DWELLING ON IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Mike wouldn't have brought it up THREE TIMES to Will, saying basically the same thing the first two, if he weren't racking his brain confused. That is a man who DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION! not one who's just regretful. One who's regretful says it once and dwells on their lack of action, not their lack of knowledge. If he knows what to do NOW, there's no need to include "I didn't know what to do" in the story...we gathered that.

And THIS is where Byler comes in. I really that's the only difference because under knowing he doesn't have a solution, that requires the painting to have motivated it one way or another and that is an endgame ensurer.

I GET IT NOW. If Mike was immediately able to say it as soon as she left, it would be because in the moment he just froze up out of a fear of vulnerability and Will's painting would be inconsequential to him because he could already say it and would therefore only affect Will's arc, with its payoff being Will telling Mike his feelings and not the lie being revealed because the lie wouldn't have changed Mike's course of action at all. Then his later claim that he didn't say anything because he was scared in the moment makes total sense from the perspective that he was able to as SOON AS THE MOMENT PASSED.

I GET IT NOW. I GET WHY IT MAKES SENSE TO PEOPLE. Because it IS a consistent story...just consistent with a misinterpretation of Mike's words. Clever, writers. Clever. Very strategic ambiguity.

I just finally get it now and that took such a weight off of me I was seriously racking my brain at why people still thought this. They took Mike's words as "I should have" and not "If only I could have". I'm gonna be so much better at debunking now my God that was literally the only difference.
