I don't think any of the post crash Curly conversations have anything Curly would actually say after this point in time. They are not Curly nor his current sentiments

Not even the "I want to go home." Curly can't say what he wants or not. It's all Jimmy's perception of what Curly's desires were and are and Jimmy's himself. It's Jimmy entering the same but warped stagnating headspace Curly was stuck in at the beginning of the game.

An oppressive bright space with all the dead ends and burnouts you could foresee paired with a dark empty void of things that spark but are never quite as bright?

Enjin finding a tattoo on you that you never told him about getting. Part of me thinks this is one of those first hookup things, where he’s just surprised to find you … tatted up beneath your unrevealing clothing.

But then also… Enjin who you’ve been with for a while, and maybe you have tattoos already or maybe you don’t, but he shucks off your clothes one night (when it’s not fully dark or you’re too wrapped up in one another) and finds a new one hiding somewhere he’s never seen one before.

And he’s genuinely going a little silent, ceasing the speed of his kisses up your bare body to inspect the new ink, run his fingers over it, even.

And part of you gets nervous during this pause because maybe he’ll hate what he sees and regress back into a more… distant version of himself, one who tells you less and leaves you more. Or maybe he’ll think it’s too much, and be scared off entirely... So you lay there heaving, tethered to time it takes for him to decide how he feels, just waiting for his reaction…

Except it’s exactly the opposite; one of his signature grins splitting across his face, eyes going tender, and lips dipping to touch your (newly) inked skin softly. If anything, he's made even more excited by it, diving back in to the adoration of your body tenfold, as if to say, I love it. You're beautiful.

the post-canon jetko dynamic I'm crafting is like. ok so these two men who both feel things WAY too much can function well when separated [either through distraction/hierarchy of priority/conscious refusal to acknowledge certain feelings about certain people (at least on Jet's end, Zuko isn't emotionally savvy enough to CONSCIOUSLY repress his emotions)] but when you put them in a room together its like splitting the atom. like you have a certain amount of time before they cant ignore each other any longer.

THAT or they just slot back together like nothing has happened or no time has elapsed at all. maybe they make a creepily professional and efficient duo. maybe the smooth working-together (a la "we made a good team" Ferry dynamic) is like. the Prelude to the eruption. What I'm saying is they both have the POTENTIAL to be incredibly possessive people but would also never admit to it so instead they'd just have to have crazy reunion sex all the time.

I find it interesting when I see people say that what happened with Curly is excessive because it's overlooked in the series because Curly and Jimmy are the narrators and THEY don't see it as defining for Jimmy, but the mans a repeat offender. We don't know what he did before but we know that he’s been PROVEN to be volatile to the point that he had to move to an entirely new community. City Belle on tiktok talks about the missing stair metaphor and how it directly ties into mouthwash, a fault in the structure which is simply put up with while warning newcomers about the existence instead of addressing the problem as a whole and getting rid of it. Jimmy had to leave his old community because everyone was AWARE of him being a danger, and Curly gave him an out while endangering an entirely new community to him. Not only is there the symbolism of Curly literally and figuratively tasting his own medicine, but he’s being forced to become a bystander because he sat by as Anya suffered despite knowing from past experiences that Jimmy was capable of bad actions. It’s a repeated theme that Curly thinks Jimmy is good person deep down, who simply makes mistakes and lashes out. But regardless of what he believed, Curly knew that Jimmy was a person who can and HAS committed bad actions.

i have so many wips going its perhaps unreasonable and i should finish something and some of these are more 'flip through and think about really hard' wips BUT.
