Your OCs are walking through a park and find a statue that is... obviously based on them. No Artist signature, no plaque or anything like that... just a statue. How do they react?

Ooooh, that's interesting!

Rae: Mainly just assumes it's meant for someone else - I mean, this does look like her, but there are a lot of people who look a bit like her, so it's probably just a coincidence.

Robin: A full-blown statue is a little weird, but she's a performer and is used to being seen. She kind of just assumes that it's a new art installation, and the artist happens to be an opera fan, and seeing her onstage ended up influencing their art.

Madison: Is very weirded-out... she lives a pretty private life now, but she spent the past five years living in the middle of the wilderness- nobody should know her well enough to make a statue of her (and the very few people who theoretically could, like Alex, definitely didn't). It's not from from anyone at the X-Mansion, and it's very clearly her because of her physical mutations, so her next assumption is that it's either a stalker or a mutation with weird statue-generation abilities.

Ophelia: Well, she is a bit of a public figure - a well-known superhero, and the face of a successful company - so a statue in her honor isn't completely unheard of. Still weird, but... there's at least a bit of explanation there, she supposes.

Gia: Similar story to Rae - kind of just assumes it's meant for someone else, weird coincidence.

Jasper: Figures it's some kind of practical joke, or perhaps a spell gone wrong from the witches? Either way, they leave it be, it's not hurting anyone.

Kestrel: Waits until the area is completely clear, then turns into a rhino and wrecks the statue into a pile of rubble. Their job is mostly underground, and a statue is really the opposite of what they want.

Katherine: I mean... I've told you about the end of her story, haven't I? But aside from that, I think Emily and Jace would find it fun to try and steal it and drag it to the museum, just to see if it would come to life at night.

Quinn: Finds it weird, and ends up graffiti-ing her own statue to try and find out who put it up (and why). It's not the worst idea she's ever had.

Eris: Doesn't even blink - it wouldn't be the first time they've seen their name (or aliases) in the history books or their face on a historical monument. It's a little weird, but you can't play a part in so many worldwide wars without getting noticed here or there.

Nikoletta: Unceremoniously dumps it into the shadow realm, leaving nothing but a vaguely circular halo of shadows in the grass around it. She doesn't want to be noticed.

I just realized that if a Sing 3 & 4 are both made, it'd be better if Buster disappeared from the third film, replacing him with a different character (like a different character replacing Gordon Bombay as coach in D3: The Mighty Ducks), and then returned one more time in the 4th for the finale to his character arc.

The pluses to provide:

It could avoid the "main character's love-interest introduced in a third film" cliche (previously done in Madagascar 3 (I still like Alex x Gia though), Open Season 3, Back to the Future 3, How to Train Your Dragon 3, Hotel Transylvania 3, you get it)

It would allow Johnny, Ash, Rosita, Porsha, Meena, and Nooshy to have more stories, as required

It could give stories to supporting characters like Norman (Rosita's pretty much accomplished her previous 'be important' character arc, now it's her hubby's turn), Gunther (since he's the popular one), and a returning Mike

Illumination would get more positive feedback for trying something a little different

Johnny, Ash, Rosita, Gunther and Meena would have it all out of their systems by the third film's end, allowing Buster to bring it home in the fourth

Jotaro Kujo the Stand User is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends -- Hisoka the Hunter, Adventurer Cookie the Explorer and BlackBerry Cookie the Maid -- have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Hisoka lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape -- with the help of some prodigious spirits -- to explore the world.

Jotaro, Hisoka, and other cartoon creatures find a way to escape from Madagascar when the spirits reassemble a wrecked airplane. The precariously repaired craft stays airborne just long enough to make it to the African continent.

Cartoon pals Jotaro, Hisoka, Adventurer Cookie and Blackberry Cookie are still trying to make it back to New York's Central Park Zoo. They are forced to take a detour to Europe to find the spirits and plumbers who broke the bank at a Monte Carlo casino. When Alolan animal-control officer Lusamine picks up their scent, Jotaro and company are forced to hide out in a traveling circus.

Từ El Nino đến La Nina: Khi thời tiết cực đoan trở thành điều “bình thường mới” của Trái đất

Hiện tượng thời tiết El Nino - từ khóa của khí tượng toàn cầu năm 2023

Mới đây, trung tâm dự báo khí hậu CPC thuộc Cơ quan thời tiết quốc gia M��� đã thông báo: "Chúng ta đang chia tay El Nino sau 1 năm chịu tác động mạnh từ hiện tượng này".

Năm 2023 là một năm nhiều kỷ lục đáng buồn về thời tiết, về khí hậu với những ngày nắng nóng kỷ lục, thậm chí tháng 7/2023 còn được ghi nhận là tháng nóng nhất trong vòng 120.000 năm trở lại đây.

Mùa hè năm 2023 chứng kiến nhiều kỷ lục về nhiệt độ đã bị xô đổ tại khu vực châu Á - Thái Bình Dương. Trong đó, Lào đã phá kỷ lục mọi thời đại với nhiệt độ 42,5oC. Hay thủ đô Bắc Kinh của Trung Quốc trải qua đợt nắng nóng gay gắt dài kỷ lục, khi có gần 10 ngày liên tiếp hứng chịu nhiệt độ hơn 35oC. Trong khi đó, ở Nam Cực, nhiệt độ cũng lên tới gần 9oC.

Nắng nóng cũng gây ra đợt cháy rừng dữ dội ở đảo Rhodes của Hy Lạp. Đây được xem là vụ cháy rừng nghiêm trọng nhất tại châu Âu, thiêu rụi hơn 77.000 ha đất.

Bà Clare Nullis - người phát ngôn Tổ chức Khí tượng Thế giới - cho biết: "Nắng nóng và không khí hanh khô đã tạo điều kiện cho nhiều vụ cháy rừng nghiêm trọng, khiến người dân phải đi sơ tán và để lại hậu quả khốc liệt. Không may là cảnh tượng này ngày càng diễn ra nhiều vào mùa Hè. Rồi các cơn sóng nhiệt đã khiến nhiệt độ tại Trung Đông lên trên mốc 50oC, hay Nhật Bản trải qua một mùa Hè nắng nóng chưa từng có".

Cơn bão Daniel đổ bộ vào Libya hồi tháng 9/2023, đã mang theo mưa lớn chưa từng có, làm vỡ đập và dẫn đến tình trạng lụt lội thảm khốc. Lũ lụt đã san phẳng một thành phố và khiến ít nhất 5.000 người thiệt mạng.

Bang California (Mỹ) đã được đặt trong tình trạng cảnh báo bão tuyết hiếm gặp, buộc giới chức phải kêu gọi người dân ở trong nhà. Nhiệt độ tại thành phố San Francisco đã có lúc xuống là 4oC, mức thấp kỷ lục trong 132 năm, kèm theo tuyết rơi dày hơn 8 cm.

Đó là một số trong những rất nhiều thảm họa thời tiết cực đoan trong năm 2023 gắn liền với El Nino.

Châu Á chịu nhiều thiên tai nhất năm 2023

Mới đây nhất, báo cáo của Tổ chức Khí tượng thế giới (WMO) cho biết, châu Á là khu vực chịu nhiều thiên tai nhất thế giới do các hiểm họa liên quan đến khí hậu, lũ lụt và bão đã gây ra số thương vong cao nhất tại đây.

Chỉ riêng trong năm 2023, đã có 79 thảm họa liên quan đến các sự kiện khí tượng thủy văn được ghi nhận ở châu Á, chủ yếu là lũ lụt và bão khiến hơn 2.000 người thiệt mạng và 9 triệu người bị ảnh hưởng.

Khả năng hiện tượng La Nina sẽ tiếp nối El Nino

Theo trung tâm Dự báo Khí hậu của Mỹ, El Nino kết thúc trong nửa đầu năm 2024. Khoảng từ tháng 4 đến tháng 6, các điều kiện thời tiết trở nên trung tính hơn. Theo trung tâm này dự báo, khoảng 55% khả năng là sau El Nino, La Nina xuất hiện từ giữa năm nay.

So với El Nino, La Nina được cho là sẽ ôn hòa hơn về mặt nhiệt độ, tức là có thể đem theo thời tiết mát mẻ hơn cho một số khu vực trên Trái đất. Tuy nhiên, điều đáng lo ngại về La Nina chính là nó có thể gây mưa bão mạnh ở các vùng ven biển.

Trong lịch sử, hiện tượng La Nina từng gây ra cơn bão Mitch, "thủ phạm giết người" lớn thứ 2 trong lịch sử nhân loại vào năm 1998, gây nên nỗi ám ảnh kinh hoàng với những người còn sống đến tận ngày nay. Siêu bão Mitch với cuồng phong cấp 5 từng khiến 22.000 người thiệt mạng và mất tích, 2,7 triệu người mất nhà cửa. Khả năng La Nina có thể xuất hiện vào cuối năm nay được các chuyên gia khí tượng nhìn nhận rất thận trọng.

Chuyên gia khí tượng Mỹ dự báo về La Nina

Ông Alex Desrosiers - nghiên cứu sinh trường Đại học Colorado, Mỹ - cho rằng: "La Nina không bao giờ là tin tốt khi nói đến các mùa bão. Năm nay, tác động của La Nina còn được khuếch đại bởi nhiệt độ đại dương ấm hơn. Đây là điều đáng lo ngại. Những chỉ số này không hề tốt một chút nào. Tôi hy vọng nếu những cơn bão lớn xảy ra thì nó sẽ không vào thẳng đất liền. Ví dụ như năm 2010, chúng ta cũng chứng kiến nước biển Đại Tây Dương ấm lên và hiện tượng La Nina. Năm đó, chúng ta đã có một mùa mưa bão dày đặc nhưng 5 cơn bão lớn của năm ấy không đổ bộ vào đất liền nên bây giờ không phải là lúc để hoảng sợ mà là lúc để chuẩn bị cho những khả năng bão có thể xảy ra".

Đông Nam Á, Ấn Độ và Australia có khả năng mưa nhiều vào cuối năm nay

Tuy nhiên, ở một chiều ngược lại, hình thái thời tiết La Nina mang theo khí hậu mát dịu hơn, nhiều mưa hơn cũng có thể sẽ trở thành một lợi thế đối với một số khu vực trồng trọt, nông nghiệp. Ví dụ như khu vực Đông Nam Á.

Các chuyên gia cho rằng La Nina diễn ra vào nửa cuối năm nay khiến mưa nhiều hơn ở khu vực Đông Nam Á, Ấn Độ và Australia.

Với Indonesia - quốc gia lớn nhất Đông Nam Á, mùa khô năm nay sẽ ít khắc nghiệt hơn 2023 và vì thế việc quản lý phòng chống cháy rừng cũng như canh tác mùa màng sẽ tốt hơn.

Còn ở Tây Bắc Ấn Độ và Bangladesh, La Nina sẽ khiến mưa gắn liền với gió mùa lớn hơn bình thường, mang lại lợi ích cho nền kinh tế Ấn Độ vốn phụ thuộc vào gió mùa để phát triển nông nghiệp và công nghiệp.

Tuy nhiên với Philippines, La Nina có thể gây mưa nhiều dẫn đến lũ lụt và đặc biệt là dự báo sẽ có nhiều trận bão hơn vào cuối năm.

Nếu xét về khía cạnh nông nghiệp, La Nina được kỳ vọng là có thể sẽ mang lại nhiều tác động tốt hơn cho trồng trọt tại nhiều nước châu Á, đặc biệt là sau 1 năm El Nino gây hạn hán khắp nơi.

Đơn cử như Ấn Độ - nhà cung cấp gạo lớn nhất thế giới - đã phải hạn chế xuất khẩu mặt hàng chủ lực này vì El Nino gây nắng hạn thì với La Nina sắp tới sẽ giải quyết được bài toán thiếu nước, qua đó đẩy mạnh sản xuất gạo, giữ vững ngôi vị xuất khẩu gạo của mình.

Các đồn điền dầu cọ và trang trại trồng lúa ở Đông Nam Á nhờ La Nina sẽ có mưa và độ ẩm tăng cường, giúp tăng năng suất trồng trọt.

La Nina gần đây nhất vào năm 2017 - 2018 đã mang lại lượng mưa có lợi cho các vùng sản xuất cọ của Indonesia và Malaysia, giúp hai nước này có sản lượng dầu cọ thô tăng cao. Điều tương tự cũng được dự báo cho năm nay.

Ứng phó với bão lũ cực đoan 2024

Vài chục năm trở lại đây, khi nhắc đến thời tiết, có một từ khóa được nhắc đi nhắc lại, đó là "bất thường". Càng ngày các hiện tượng thời tiết càng khó dự đoán hơn. Bằng chứng là liên tiếp những năm gần đây, các thảm họa tự nhiên đều gây ra thương vong kỷ lục.

Hiệu ứng "cánh bướm" được nhắc nhiều trong thời gian gần đây. Đó là khi một con bướm đập cánh ở tận rừng nhiệt đới Amazon của Brazil có thể là khởi nguồn gây ra một trận cuồng phong ở Texas, Mỹ. Điều này cho thấy sự tương liên của vạn vật trong tự nhiên, dù chỉ một biến số nhỏ cũng có thể gây ra một hậu quả to lớn.

Trong những năm qua, những biến số đã diễn biến không hề nhỏ. Băng ở hai cực đang tan với tốc độ nhanh chưa từng có. Nhiệt độ của các đại dương ấm lên. Tất cả những yếu tố này và hơn thế nữa có thể khiến những hình thái thời tiết như El Nino hay La Nina trở thành một thứ gì đó khó lường hơn trước kia rất nhiều. Mùa lũ đã tới sớm hơn dự kiến tại miền Nam Trung Quốc, khi mưa dông từ giữa tháng này đã kéo theo cảnh báo mực nước tại một số sông lớn ở tỉnh Quảng Đông đạt mức "trăm năm có một". Các trận mưa lớn kéo theo lở đất đã làm ít nhất 4 người thiệt mạng, 10 người mất tích, hàng chục ngôi nhà bị đổ sập, hư hỏng nặng, nhiều tuyến đường bị phong tỏa.

Đợt mưa lớn này là một ví dụ cho thấy các nỗ lực ứng phó ngập lụt vẫn còn nan giải. Vào năm 2015, Trung Quốc đã đưa ra kế hoạch xây dựng các "thành phố bọt biển" có thể giữ lại và tái sử dụng 70% lượng mưa. Đây là mô hình sử dụng các khu vườn, vỉa hè có thể thấm nước, hay bể chứa ngầm, trở thành những miếng bọt biển hấp thụ lượng mưa lớn và đưa về sông hoặc hồ chứa. Tuy nhiên, vẫn có những lo ngại rằng liệu giải pháp này có còn phù hợp hay không bởi cơ sở hạ tầng chỉ có thể hấp thụ lượng nước mưa nhất định, trong khi biến đổi khí hậu lại thúc đẩy các hiện tượng thời tiết cực đoan vượt quá năng lực của các mô hình "thành phố bọt biển".

Ông Mark Fletcher - Công ty tư vấn xây dựng Arup (Anh) - cho rằng: "Thách thức mà chúng ta đang phải đối mặt là rất nhiều điều không chắc chắn về biến đổi khí hậu. Có lẽ đã đến lúc phải chuyển sang cấp độ tiếp theo, bao gồm các biện pháp phi công trình, chẳng hạn như hệ thống dự báo và cảnh báo sớm hiệu quả vào các nỗ lực chống lũ lụt đô thị thay vì chỉ tập trung vào cơ sở hạ tầng".

Các chuyên gia cho rằng điều cốt yếu là hệ thống thoát nước sẽ cần phải được cải thiện để chống chọi với thời tiết khắc nghiệt thường xuyên hơn khi biến đổi khí hậu gia tăng.

Một ví dụ khác để tham khảo là hệ thống chống ngập lụt tại Hà Lan - quốc gia có địa hình nhiều vùng nằm dưới mực nước biển nhưng vẫn chống chọi rất tốt với tình trạng nước biển dâng. Hệ thống đê kè phòng vệ cho phép nhiều khu vực cửa sông có thể được đóng mở để phòng trường hợp nước dâng cao quá mức trong những ngày bão. Trong đất liền, Hà Lan cũng đào nhiều các kênh rạch, sông nhỏ, hồ chứa nước chống ngập, xây dựng các cối xay gió, lắp đặt máy bơm để đảm bảo nước mưa và nước sông được điều tiết hợp lý. Các "khu vực xả nước" cũng được hình thành, đề phòng trường hợp nước sông dâng cao thì sẽ xả nước đảm bảo an toàn cho thành phố.
