You don’t understand. I have written about you — a dozen times. That funny little curl to your lip I used in a story six years ago; that way your face all changed just when you were going to laugh — I gave that characteristic to one of the first girls I ever wrote about; the way I stayed around trying to say good-night, knowing that you’d rush to the phone as soon as the front door closed behind me — all that was in a book that I wrote once upon a time.
F. Scott Fitzgerald about Ginevra King, "One Hundred False Starts" (1933)

If I ever visit Britain again, fuck that Platform 9 3/4 stunt at King’s Cross.
All I wanna do is find the telephone booth that descends into the Ministry of Magic, and get Mr. Harry “head-auror” Potter and Ms. Ginevra “head-quidditch-correspondent” Weasley to sign the handle of my garden broom.

You're not sure how long you've been staring. It might have been an embarrassing amount of time — if you cared to check.
Time has been good to him. He is taller than you remember, lankier than ever, cheeks hollowing out and accentuating his strong, angled jaw. He's dressed in Auror robes no doubt, the thick black material cutting into the pale, freckled flesh and contrasting tastefully with his fiery red hair.
You spot Harry Potter beside him, who, to no one's surprise, is surrounded by a swarm of people as Ron snickers at him from the edges of the group. Harry throws him a disgruntled look. Their boyish tendencies make you smile, as your mind's eye turns back in time, to your years at Hogwarts.
While most people in your year had been obsessing over the Boy who Lived, you had had your eyes set out for his best friend. He had been, after all, your then closest friend's brother. But nothing had ever happened except for him once borrowing a quill from you and then he was someone else's.
And now, years later, there's just a small flutter in your heart at the sight of him. The dysrhythmia induced by a school girl crush has long disappeared but he's plenty handsome and that is hard to ignore.
"If you'd like me to introduce you, you need only say the word," Ginny's voice stirs you out of your daze.
You blush, tearing your gaze away from the red-head and look at the witch beside you. There's an all too familiar glint in her eyes that makes you frown. You had already caught up with each other several minutes ago, delighted at finally being able to meet each other at this Hogwarts Reunion, which was otherwise impossible because of your busy schedules.
"It's Harry you should be worried about," you retort, gesturing at the sea of innumerable witches he has now disappeared amidst.
"Ron's not seeing anyone at the moment," Ginny notes nonchalantly and you almost choke on your drink.
"It was a school crush, Ginevra," you mutter, but your words sound hollow to yourself as you watch Ron Weasley tilt his head back and laugh at something Luna Lovegood had just said.
"If only you had told me before year seven...," she mumbles, trailing off into her own thought. Only when Harry, Ron and Hermione had famously left their last year at Hogwarts to go on a quest to save the world (a story that was now a bed time tale for the new generation of wizards and witches) did you confess to Ginny that you had had an unrequited crush on her brother. But then the world almost ended, lives were lost and you lost touch with your only link to the Weasleys.
"If only. Too bad a dark, evil wizard was trying to kill us all," you mutter and Ginny throws you a look.
"You're actually perfect for Ron, you know," she remarks and you sigh, sipping the last of the enchanted beer.
"Why are you trying to play cupid, anyway? Do you not have people to meet? Hear Slughorn's looking for you," you say, in a vain effort to change the subject.
"He was?" Ginny asks, suddenly perking up and looking around with a troubled expression.
"If he asks for me again, I was never here," she whispers, slinking off into the crowd and out of sight.
Finally managing to shake off the flaming presence of one, adamant Weasley, you weave your way towards the bar. You order another round of the butter beer and look off to your left and back, only to find yourself standing beside... Ron Weasley himself.
"Hi," you say, a little out of breath, having been caught like a deer in headlights. He looks shocked too, not expecting someone to ambush him at the bar counter.
"I'm Y/N L/N," you add, trying to compose yourself and smile awkwardly.
"Oh...Y/N...?" his expression remains blank.
"Ginny and I used to be close...," you say, trying hard not to let the disappointment shine through in your voice.
"Ahh," Ron mumbles looking away and you're not convinced that means anything to him.
You wish the ground would open and swallow you whole. You're about to make a run for it and apparate, to save yourself from the embarrassment, when Ron speaks up.
"You wouldn't happen to be the girl who set Dean and Ginny up back then, did you?" he asks, as he gestures for the bar tender - Mrs. Rosmerta's son you've learnt.
You frown. "No, I don't think that was me. Why?" you ask, curious.
"Oh they were trouble, don't know why anybody thought they were a good idea," he mutters and you chuckle.
"'Suppose it's better having your best friend date your sister," you note, grateful for an excuse to keep the conversation going.
Ron turns towards you. "You'd think. But every time he's home, she takes up all his bloody time," he murmurs, so very sincerely, that you can't help but laugh.
"Don't tell him I said that though," he says, turning his head to look at Harry in the crowd who has finally managed to find his way to his old friends. "Don't need his head getting any bigger."
You grin. "I doubt it'll ever come up but I'll keep it in mind," you chirp, pausing to take a sip of the drink hat the bar-tender's handed to you.
You fall into easy conversation then, the awkwardness disappearing as Ron's smile gets wider and you start feeling more relaxed. He's sitting much closer to you now, drink in hand, smelling slightly like an old comforter and toothpaste and you're so happy, you've forgotten your drink beside you.
"We had a good run here," Ron is saying. He looks up and around him, at the adorned walls of the Great Hall and you nod.
"She's still so beautiful," you murmur, looking at the ceiling that has been bewitched to twinkle like with sky with stars today.
Ron sighs, wistfully. "Merlin, I miss Hogwarts."
"What do you miss the most?"
"Everything, you know, the food, the teachers, these halls, the dormitories. Blimey, even the classes, the girls—"
"What was so bad about the girls?" you ask, pretending to be offended and Ron's ears turn red.
"No, hell, I mean, it was so difficult to talk to girls back then.... but I'd take that over what I have going on right now."
He looks at you sheepishly, running a hand through his hair.
You frown at him.
"What do you mean?"
"What with work and everything, you know, there's no time," he admits, sighing.
"I'm sure any witch would make time for a wizard like you," you muse, eyes twinkling.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Ron echoes, quirking an eyebrow at you but there's a playfulness to his tone.
"I mean— you're an Auror— a great, distinctly famous wizard— and a good man from what I've heard," you say, as the red-head's eyebrows shoot up higher.
"And you're gorgeous," you add after a beat, not quite looking at him but Ron turns crimson. It's bold, for your standards and you decide to blame the beer.
"It's not that easy you know," he says after a moment, clearing his throat.
You look back at him through your eyelashes. There's a new shine in his eyes, a little pucker at the corner of his lips that makes your heart beat a little faster.
You're in the mood to play, so you lean over. "Oh, it's not? Do tell..."
"Well, I've been sat here twenty minutes," he says, leaning closer, voice dropping low, "...trying to rack up the nerve to ask a witch out for a dance and been failing spectacularly so far."
A shiver travels down your back and you tongue the inside of your cheek to keep from grinning. "Maybe try now?"
Ron suppresses a grin.
"Do you...," he's turned a slight shade of pink and you can't help but smile.
"Do you reckon you'd like to dance with me?" he asks, running a hand through his hair, tousling it and you have a mad urge to smooth it out but resist. There's a blush tinting his cheeks but the bashful grin on his face makes your cheeks heat up.
"I'd like that," you whisper as Ron stands up and bows before you, extending his hand.
You weave through a large part of the crowd hand in hand, to a somewhat empty space is the middle and Ron pulls you close to himself, taking one of your hands in his and placing a gentle one on your waist, taking the lead.
You blush a little, surprised by the charge he takes. You definitely like this cooler, confident Ron with bits of awkwardness and goofiness sprinkled in.
"You're a lot different than I remember," you blurt out, regretting it the minute the words roll off your tongue.
To your surprise, Ron looks amused.
"You have memories from school about me?"
You start swaying to the music, falling quite easily into the step of waltz.
Trapped. "Well...I was one of your sister's closest friends and you were only one of the most famous wizard's best friend," you say quickly, before you can embarrass yourself more by letting out your secret.
The song slows down, as you gently sway to the music, painfully aware of how warm Ron's breath is on your face. The hall is quieter now, the couples swaying silently on the floor as others watch and the gravity of the situation sinks in.
You're dancing with Ron Weasley.
You try to contain the flurry of butterflies erupting in your stomach at the realisation, but it's hard to focus when he's so gently holding you against him. You dance in quiet embrace for the rest of the song, fighting a losing hormonal battle, and just as it segues into something slightly faster, Ron spins you out on one arm.
"I'm sorry I don't remember you from school much," he says softly.
It's nothing— it's a pinch, a paper cut if anything. You already know he doesn't remember you but you can't help the flutter of disappointment in your chest his words.
You roll back into his arm gracefully and look up into his piercing blue eyes.
"Quite a shame really, you'd think I'd not be stupid and remember one of the most beautiful witches I've ever seen," he says, a genuineness in his eyes that makes you falter.
You freeze briefly in your little step, a wave of heat erupting over your chest at his swift words. School-girl-you would've melted into a puddle on the floor at these words, but adult-you knows better and wills your rapidly beating heart to slow down.
"You'd think so," you reply breathily, feigning disappointment and Ron chuckles.
"I'm sorry. You've got to excuse teenage Ron, he was a right git," he says and you can't help but laugh.
"I forgive him," you say. "We were all gits when we were sixteen."
"You know," he pipes again, pulling you away from the center of the floor. The music has turned faster now and by the time he's pulled you to the very edges, the floor is a chaotic flurry of limbs.
"We could make up for lost time."
You quirk up an eyebrow at him, surprised by his forwardness.
"For someone who was struggling to ask me for a dance only minutes ago, you're being awfully direct."
Ron blushes but the grin on his face grows wider.
"Something an old friend told me about letting people know you fancy them when you fancy them," he mumbles and you quirk an amused eyebrow at him.
"You fancy me?"
He smiles sheepishly. "I thought it was obvious," he quips, pulling you closer by your fingers.
"I'd like to get to know you better then," you whisper. Ron smiles down warmly at you, turning your stomach to mush.
"I'd like to get to know you better too," he says, and his smile quickly turns into a smirk.
"Your place or mine?"

16, 19, 22, 25 for the fandom asks
16. can't understand why so many people love blonde daisy. i mean, logically, I get that she's constantly cast as a blonde IN THE MOVIES, but if you ACTUALLY FUCKING READ THE BOOK she has dark hair. the inverse goes for jordan.
19. because i dont really. have anything for gatsby proper..............well. in terms of gatsbyverse, I could fix robert. and that's...that's me saying that with what I know. i hope yall are ready for a whole new level of psychosexual crazy that will put jay gatsby to shame.
22. again the character designs (except blonde nick <3). like fitz might have made an oversight making SO many characters blonde but I think color-coding is SUCH an important part of fitz's symbolism that ignoring it is just. in such bad taste. plus daisy having dark hair is a direct product of her being ginevra king in different clothing, and I LOVE the real world ties gatsby has. it's all very important to me. i want these guys as close to real as possible.
25. "yall all hate daisy because you're sexist!!" yeah! a lot of us hated daisy because we were sexist at age fourteen fifteen whatever. but goddamn. the fandom at least as I have seen it has grown up TREMENDOUSLY and whenever a new crop of sophomores roll up hating on daisy, we set them right—and even then, I haven't seen an actual I Hate Daisy post in SO long, and I check this fucking tag fifty times a day. god. but I still recommend that if you hate daisy, really, really check up on exactly why. sexism's roots go deep deep deep and often you'll cover it up with 'i just hate the rich' (which is based) when you don't give the same scrutiny to tom or jay. AND ANOTHER THING. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN.
JAY GATSBY IS NOT TO BE DISMISSED AS JUST A CREEPY STALKER MANBABY. WHAT. HUH. HUH??? WHAT???? HUH???????? DO YOU HAVE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS? HAVE YOU PERHAPS SCRATCHED THE CRYSTAL CLEAR VENEER OFF THIS BOOK YET TO SEE THAT? PERHAPS? IT MIGHT BE SIGNIFICANT OF SOMETHING DEEPER THAN THAT? I would explain it more in detail but this post is long enough and I'm big mad now.

Chapter 19: Wedding, Day 1: Gydus
She could see the High Priestess waiting for them at the end, fully dressed in her ceremonial clothes. She smiled encouragingly at them. The symbol of Gydus had been brought out from its altar from the side of the temple and stood on top of the main altar.
They halted in front of Tassia and faced each other.
“Today we stand in front of Gydus as God of the Sun and as representative of all the Gods that follow him. In his name I will marry these two souls, to join them together in marriage, for better and worse, until death do them part.” She turned to Gydus’ symbol; an ornate depiction of the sun, its rays curling around the circle in silver and golden streaks. She put both her hands on it and closed her eyes for a moment. She turned back around and offered her hands to them. They both took it.
“King Henry James Fleamont Evan of Ignotia, do you take Princess Ginevra Molly Cedrella Prewette of Harpia as your wife?” she asked.

Hi , I hope you are doing well. I just want to ask, you have mentioned in one of your post Ginny's name symbolic for hinny being soulmates. please elaborate on that bit.
Thank u
Let's clarify something, I've never said this. I want it to be put on record.
[Also, thank you, I hope you are well, too]
What I did say is that soulmates dynamics usually rely heavily on symbolism. Because soulmates are not a proven real thing, unless they exist explicitly in the worldbuilding of the story, the author uses symbolism to communicate with the reader that yes, they are very conscious of what they are writing, it's written on purpose, those characters are meant for each other. Symbolism is also the literary translation of fate and destiny, obviously essential elements when talking about soulmates. Clearly, the whole symbolic level of narration means nothing in terms of the soulmates storyline if the dynamic of the couple doesn't support it (Harry and Ginny's one does).
Now, one of the many symbolic elements in Harry and Ginny's story is Ginny's name.
Let's see why.
Ginny's full name is Ginevra, an Italian name that comes from the ancient Welsh name Gwenhwyfar. Ginevra means bright spirit, or even bright elf (if someone is in the mood to write a LotR hinny AU).
Ginny throughout the series is often associated with light and warmth, both on a direct level and on a more metaphorical one, and in the last book, she is even directly described as a brilliant light. She Harry's light, she is life itself.
Therefore Ginny's name fits perfectly into the whole symbolic system around her character, a character who is actually one of the main columns of the symbolic system of the entire saga.
It doesn't end here, though.
Ginevra is the Italian version of the name Guinevere.
Guinevere happens to be the wife of King Arthur. The Arthur hero of the legend, like our Harry.
But here is when it gets interesting.
Guinevere is also pretty famous for having cheated on Arthur, this is the complete opposite of Ginny who has been devoted to Harry since before they even met in a way. Ginny has always loved Harry, even when she really didn't want to, and will always love him.
Does this mean that calling Harry's future wife Ginevra was a poor choice?
No.
Referencing a famous story, using it as a trope if you will, but then changing the ending is something that Rowling does on more than one occasion and various times specifically with Harry and Ginny.
Ginny running after the train and Harry looking at her in PS is reminiscing of many love stories, but instead of being a painful goodbye with a promise of a reunion, it's a hello. It's the first time they meet.
Harry saving Ginny from the Chamber is a situation built in a way that strongly references Orpheus and Eurydice but Harry, unlike Orpheus, manages to actually save Ginny.
In the break-up scene between Harry and Ginny, you can see the usual pattern of the hero breaking up with the love of their life because they consider themselves too dangerous, but usually what happens is that the hero lies about their own feelings in order to make sure the love interest stays away, a White Fang situation if you will. A type of scene that is reminiscent of the ending of the highly successful first Spider-Man movie (that came out only three years before HBP and might have easily influenced JKR) where Peter refuses MJ, and at a funeral of all moments. But with Harry and Ginny, Rowling once again adds her own twist. Harry doesn't lie to Ginny, he is extremely honest about his reasons and emotions, and even the things he can't tell her are things that Ginny already knows even if not in detail (that he's going after Voldemort).
In conclusion, Ginevra is definitely a name chosen very carefully. You can like it or not, but Harry and Ginny's story is one of the most clearly meticulously crafted dynamics of the series.
Tumblr media
Fun fact: the Italian version of the name is also associated with the juniper (ginepro in Italian). The juniper in many cultures - from the ancient Greek to the Celtic one - is linked to magic and protection (Ginny is a powerful witch, and one of her arcs is her being a protector of others). Particularly in Mesopotamian mythology, it was the plant of the goddess Ištar, goddess of sex and war, who could bring death and destruction but also love and fertility (Ginny's character is basically a delicate balancing act between harshness and sweetness). To add to this, her animal was the lion (Ginny is a leo).

On April 10th, 1925, Charles Scribner’s Sons published The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third novel, which Fitz had begun drafting almost three years before.
“The whole idea of Gatsby,” Fitzgerald once wrote, “is the unfairness of a poor young man not being able to marry a girl with money. This theme comes up again and again because I lived it.” (That would be in regards to his failed love affair with Ginevra King, who inspired Daisy Buchanan.)
Famously, the book was almost called something else—a number of something elses, in fact. “Before reluctantly deciding on The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald hemmed and hawed over more than half a dozen names,” writes Dustin Illingworth. “Gatsby; Among Ash-Heaps and Millionaires; Trimalchio; Trimalchio in West Egg; On the Road to West Egg; Under the Red, White, and Blue; Gold-Hatted Gatsby; and The High-Bouncing Lover. As late as one month before publication, he was still trying to change the title. His final opinion of the name of his masterpiece was not exactly a ringing endorsement: ‘The title is only fair, rather bad than good,’ he said.”
Though The Great Gatsby was received warmly by Fitzgerald’s peers and enjoyed (mostly) positive reviews from critics, it did not sell well, particularly as compared to Fitzgerald’s previous two novels, This Side of Paradise (1920) and The Beautiful and the Damned (1922). (Maybe it was the title.) By the time Fitzgerald died in 1940, he considered the book—and his entire career—a failure.
But books can have long lives. During WWII, The Great Gatsby was selected by the Council on Books in Wartime to be one of the titles sent to American soldiers stationed overseas—and its popularity soon soared.
Now, The Great Gatsby is, of course, one of the perennial candidates for what we think of as the Great American Novel. “Gatsby’s magic emanates not only from its powerhouse poetic style—in which ordinary American language becomes unearthly—but from the authority with which it nails who we want to be as Americans,” Maureen Corrigan writes in So We Read On: How The Great Gatsby Came to Be and Why It Endures. “Not who we are; who we want to be. It’s that wanting that runs through every page of Gatsby, making it our Greatest American Novel. But it’s also our easiest Great American Novel to underrate: too short; too tempting to misread as just a love story gone wrong; too mired in the Roaring Twenties and all that jazz.”

While we’re here. Here’s a canon hair/eye color chart. With evidence.
Nick: Blonde/Blue/Green the evidence is very marginal and I usually disregard it, but it does say: “This idea is that we’re Nordics. I am, and you are, and you are, and—” After an infinitesimal hesitation he included Daisy with a slight nod..." 'Nordic' was eventually coopted by the Nazis as a companion word to their Aryan bullshit, and in 1924 (when this part was likely written) there were even some measures to separate 'dark whites' (Italians, Jewish people, etc) from 'lighter' white people. All bullshit, but all this to say the implication at the time of writing would have meant light hair and light eyes. Also. Fitz had blonde hair and blue eyes and we know about this fucker and his self-insertion. Like I said I usually ignore this but it is kind of funny because I have never once seen a representation of nick with anything other than brown or black hair Jay: Blonde(?)/Blue This comes from the Princeton holograph. since fitz decided to deprive us in the final product. For his hair: "...his bright suit and hair..." (pg 139). jay's suit is caramel colored in this scene so the closest I can imagine is that his suit and hair are of a similar color, like perhaps a reddish blonde at most but certainly blonde at the very least, if the description lends to anything. Fitz wrote as follows in regards to Jay's eyes: "...at a table with a handsome blue-eyed man..." (pg 103); "...the blue-eyed man looked at me..." (pg 103); (he also calls them handsome eyes on page 105.......); "dark blue eyes opening out into lashes of shining jet" (pg 105); "...with such a wild look in his blue eyes..." (pg 115); "...his eyes, damp and shining like blue oil..." (pg 131); "...damp and shining like blue oil..." (again) (pg 137); and i think that's enough thank you scott Daisy: Dark(?)/?? There's two bits of evidence, mainly, for Daisy's dark hair. I'm assuming it's dark brown but that's just me. First is the whole 'Nordic' bullshit thing, where Tom is hesitant to include Daisy in the 'Nordic Race' or whatever, which would imply that she has darker hair. Also, Fitz directly confirms this with the line "...and once he kissed her dark shining hair." HOWEVER. Daisy does say that Pammy has her hair, and Pammy's hair is 'yellowy'. This is even weirder considering Tom is remarked as having 'straw hair', as in blonde. So. Maybe we CAN'T rely on the alcoholic for consistency. Daisy's eye color is not remarked on, just that they're bright. So maybe light. but who knows. One other note is that Ginevra King, the woman Daisy is based off of, had dark brown hair and eyes. Jordan: Blonde/Grey This one is easy, thank god. As for her hair, it's written "...autumn-leaf yellow of her hair..."; and again "...her hair the colour of an autumn leaf..." girl get a toner. and also the forementioned Nordic bullshit argument. Jordan was included with Tom and Nick. Her eyes: "Her grey sun-strained eyes..."; "Her grey, sun-strained eyes..." (again) Again, the direct inspiration for Jordan is Edith Cummings who had, shocker shocker, blonde hair and grey eyes if a period-appropriate painted color portrait is to be believed. Tom: Blonde/?? For his hair he's described as a "sturdy, straw-haired man of thirty". the argument could be made that that is more in regards to the texture but knowing fitz it probably means that tom is also. blonde. you'll start to notice a pattern. As for his eyes, all that's really mentioned is that they are shining and arrogant. no color Tom is based off a few people so I won't rely on any of them for hints or clues. George: Blonde/Blue
This one is pretty cut and dry. "He was a blond, spiritless man, anaemic, and faintly handsome...hope sprang into his light blue eyes." Myrtle: ??/?? If you can find written evidence for myrtle having red hair I'd love to see it because I've been searching for a while now and I can't find it in any draft. It's a movie thing, I guess, like switching jordan's and daisy's hair colors around in lazy deference to eurocentric beauty standards and a pitiful attempt at acknowledging fitz's penchant for color-based symbolism <3 The only clue for Myrtle having red hair is that her sister does. SO maybe she does, too. Her eyes are a mystery. Klipspringer is also blonde and balding, too. God's least favorite creature I guess. so it's safe to say that fitz just loved making everyone blonde. like, everyone. and considering that he himself said that all of his characters were just him, that makes an unfortunate amount of sense.

Knight of Mine
Chapter 6: Ginevra Molly Cedrella Prewette
Harry’s heart was pounding as he read. He started with the introduction.
The Royal Family is best known for its characteristically ginger hair, pale skin and freckles. They are descendants of the first tribe of the Harpian land, establishing a Kingdom early on. The women of the Harpian line are legendary for their beauty.
Harry thought of Ginny, fitting every descriptor of the paragraph. He took another deep breath and leafed through the pages of the long line of Kings, Queens and descendants until he reached the last entry of the chapter. His finger traced over the name.

Hi! My native language is Spanish, so I apologize for grammatical errors in this post. Well, today I read a post about Wyler (It's a ship from Wednesday Serie), where the person behind it wrote that in her opinion, put the names together to make the shipp name, wasn't a good idea because it left out the story and the characteristics of the characters or relation ship. Then, I thought of Hinny, and that they used to be called Orange Crush, but we don't have any idea or explanation for that name, and I was wondering what kind of name it could be for them. And also, if you had any opinion about it.
Hi!
First of all, please never apologise for your English on this blog. It's not my language either, I often make mistakes (mainly because I'm an idiot who doesn't re-read what she writes but that's beside the point). This is an absolutely safe space for non-native English speakers and if you guys ever want to discuss how it is to approach spaces where you need to talk in English or how it is to experience the Harry Potter books without being Anglo-Saxon or the cultural differences between these characters and your world, my asks are always open.
That said, back to what you asked me.
I despise the ship name hinny, it's so ugly. Orange Crush wasn't much better but at least it was kind of creative (?). Those were the early years of the books, therefore Ginny was mainly the girl with a crush on Harry so I guess "crush" came from that and "orange" for the hair, I suppose.
I think we deserve a new name. I think Harry and Ginny deserve a new name. We had the Orange Crush era, and we had the Hinny era, can't we have a third one? A third wave.
Fun fact, I actually have a list of possible names for them in my drafts.
My main inspiration was wolfstar which is objectively the king of ship names. It references the identities of the characters and their names and it sounds like an actual word. I so wanna meet the person who came up with it. They clearly have a superior brain.
My list of names was this (they are pretty much all terrible but I'll humiliate myself if we can start this conversation):
scarblush -> I know, terrible
butterbludger -> I know, it sucks, I'm basically just making fun of them, Ginny putting her elbow in the butter dish, Harry being killed by bludgers
homelight -> this is an actual reference to the meaning of their names, Harry means "home ruler" and Ginevra means "white light" or "bright spirit", I think we can work around this, but homelight makes too much sense already as a word, so it doesn't work
skeeingchase -> obvious reference to their Quidditch roles, definitely too long
Then I had a couple with their names:
Hinevra -> this one is actually beautiful but I think it's too long
Havra -> meh, it does kind of sound like the name of a Celtic female spirit though
Girry -> this one is sooo ugly
Hanny -> no comment

I was born a subject of the Queen, you know.
Victoria Regina et Imperatrix!
Her empire - a fourth the globe - may never be surpassed on earth!
Fear ye who for eighty years a billion souls called mother!
The firmament with ghastly fist she may shake still!
Tumblr media
She the greatest, she the power,
Finest fruit of long-slept flower:
Doth she pick her time and hour
Shores & kings to o'erpower.
Leoline in radiance,
Imperial her ruby crown,
Serene and set its seat the brow,
Ah, continental diffidents -
"imperial" at twist of wrist! -
AVE yet! Ashok-y-Ginevra sits!
