I can’t stop thinking about girl!dad Jake now 🥺 Just imagine if you had a little girl and like you, she is absolutely smitten with her father from day 1, and of course he with her.

It would happen from the moment he lays eyes on her. Jake would have never thought he could love a tiny human so much. He would be in absolute awe, just looking at her (but also being slightly afraid to touch her because he has held his nieces and nephews so many times before but this is different!!!! she is SO tiny and he doesn’t want to hurt her because she is the most precious little thing).

But the moment she cries, he is over that fear and picks her up immediately with the practiced hold of an uncle of many little gremlins that had come before (but his daughter? a gremlin? i dare you to say that to him).

She quiets immediately and Jake falls even more in love. He is a goner, you can see it in his eyes, and it makes you weep just a bit.

There is this period of time when she is a baby / toddler and every.single.damn.time she sees Jake’s hand on you / his head against yours / you cuddling or kissing she will WAIL like the world is ending - because she wants her daddy’s attention too! It will drive you mad, but you love her because she’s your little nugget. It would be the most amusing and adorable thing to Jake though, honestly. You find him talking to her one day while he is changing her diapers, telling her jokingly, after she wailed non-stop while Jake was hugging you, “I love you to the ends of the world darlin, but your mom is my first love, so you gotta cut her some slack”. It makes you giggle quietly as you sneak away (but surprisingly, she gets better - gasp).

She would grow up being his little shadow / mini-me, following him everywhere. Their mannerisms would basically be the same - the way they eat cereal: the same. The way they sit on the couch: the same. The way they brush their teeth: the same. The way they stare at you with those big puppy green eyes when they want something from you: the goddamn same. She would have his hair colour and eyes and sometimes you find yourself wonder how the hell she looks so much like her father and how she acts so much like him - just confident, unabashed, slightly bossy, but also the sweetest.

She would come home one day from kindergarten and announce “I have a boyfriend!”. It would make Jake absolutely choke on his dinner and he would tell her “no, you do not”. And she would insist that she does with her little hands on her hips, and he would be staring at her with this little frown on his face (of course you snapped a picture secretly because it was just Jake and tiny Jake staring at each other like >:( 😒🤨) and he would say “no baby, no boyfriends for you until you are 50” and pick her up and tickle her sides until she relents in a fit of giggles.

But he would insist on dropping her off the next day instead of you, and sit in the car with the window down, shades on, eyeing all the tiny little boys being dropped off, and their parents.

ok so i’m thinking cowboy!jake but also girldad!jake, lost his wife, no longer a pilot and just works on his little ranch living a peaceful life and then in walks rich!reader who’s never had to work a day in her life but gets into some trouble so is shipped off by her father (who is old friends with jakes father) to go stay on the ranch and become a nanny for jake’s daughter, while jake is also lowkey protecting her incase her troubles come to find her

i’m thinking high tension, cute banter, jake thinking she’s a spoiled brat but his daughter having an instant connection with her and adoring her, a bet that she can’t do anything but swipe that credit card and she steps in horse poo with her louis boots trying to prove jake wrong, and then some very very hot love making (bonus points if mr cowboy uses his ropes on her) 👀

could you see him sitting at a tiny table sporting a plastic tiara with a little tea cup in this hand, pinky raised, making sipping sounds and saying things like “your highness this tea is exquisite! you must tell me your recipe”

Omg your daughter just begging to buy some makeup so daddy can be pretty like her for their tea parties. She of course does it all herself, smudging lipstick all over his mouth and cheeks because “it can work for blush too, daddy!” glitter all over his eyelids and in his hair

I think they keep it lowkey. One, because what’s the point of having a birthday party for a one year old?? I say lowkey but Jake is such a girldad he’d refuse to settle for anything less than the fair and hiring mariachi to sing for her. Every year. Layla and Steven would think it’s adorable and readily agree. Marc’s just along for the ride. They take her to the fair, all the baby rides and Marc takes care of Diya while Layla hops on the bigger rides because he’s scared someone needs to take care of the baby. Marc is surprisingly good at carnival games and wins them so many stuffed animals they have to give some away to giddy kids that watch him absolutely demolish dart throwing. Steven finds a park nearby and they go for a walk there before the sun sets. Jake drives them back and sings Diya lullabies in Spanish while she and Layla fall asleep in the backseat. Idk maybe they invite frenchie over and he buys them a too big cake and waaaaay too many outfits for her. They sing her happy birthday in like four different languages, then Steven unveils the birthday banner written in hieroglyphics and they hang it above her cradle. Layla FaceTimes her mom for what’s supposed to be a few minutes just so she can see the baby but it turns into almost an hour of every member of the El-Faouly family saying hi to the baby. 

Frenchie leaves after giving the baby every blessing possible and they all go to sleep. Until Layla wakes up on the middle of the night, the way she’s been programmed to at the same tome Diya cries every night like clockwork, but it’s quiet. No wailing baby or irritable husbands or restless Jake. So she tiptoes to the cradle and sees Marc with Diya in his arms, slowly rocking her back and forth. Neither look anywhere near sleep but they stare at each other, completely loving. Layla goes back to sleep and isn’t awoken at all that night.

I know right!! This is the one with the least written down because I wanted to remember the idea, but wasn’t certain on how I’d make it work so that people could really fall in love with her.

But the idea was that she’s an absolute cutie. She’s energetic, rambunctious and full of life.

All sassy eye rolls, expressive eyebrows and furious hand-signing when she gets annoyed with Marc (which happens often because he’s MARC— and who ironically enough, has the hardest time out of the moon boys trying to grasp ASL/BSL)

Jake would have the easiest time picking up signing. I think he’s always been the most likely to inherently want to just go nonverbal whenever he’s feeling overwhelmed or significantly auditorily overstimulated.

Meanwhile Steven’s just the cutest!

He briefly read books about BSL in the past, initially just from a place of curiousity but when he meets the reader, he puts so much of his energy and devotion into learning so that he can communicate with her better (& she has such a soft spot for him because of this lol)

Anywho, it’s winter themed! Long coats with ear muffs, gloves and blushy cheeks.

And yes!! abt Unthinkable— (which is a single parent girldad!frankie ‘catfish’ morales x reader fic) I’ve loved the song since I was a little girl and thought it’s the perfect fit for Fish 😚🥰

i can’t tell you how good nobody breaks my heart like you was — but i’ll be trying, once my brain remembers what words are but till then — will part two or any of the future works in the pink stripes universe be an x reader fic? not that that it has to be, obviously, but girldad!jake, you know? i’d love to see how being a dad has changed how he goes about girls and relationships and stuff?

i def don’t want to spoil too much, but I’m planning on it being an "x reader" fic! I love love LOVE the idea of Jake navigating parenthood and also finding himself outside of living for other people (his parents, siblings, friends, and daughter included) and finally getting to be a happy little family with reader and his kid (and some surprise baby seresins that aren’t in pink stripes, but will be in the one shot).
