I had to redraw the preliminary sketch so many times, the perspective here was something crazy. I've never worked so much on a preliminary like with this one, and yet there are so many mistakes 🙄

whoa it’s monday and i remembered it’s monday!

I am ALMOST done with the first draft of this fic. ALMOST. Like, I thought I might reach the end last night, but ended up writing another scene instead. It’s still within days of being a complete draft, and that is exciting! (then I have go start edits, and flesh out the parts of the story that had to remain a little on the bony side until i finished the draft and knew where all the meaty bits needed to fit to give it the right final shape, and okay I officially hate this metaphor so I’m moving on now :’D)

Still chugging through the podcast, and finally got up to 1.12 Faith this week, which I apparently cannot stop talking about, and would still be talking about if I hadn’t started nodding off at like 4 am when I recorded it lol. I’m also starting to realize that my first bonus episode of the podcast should be a general overview of how I look at some of the cosmic overarching themes of the entire series like Death and Chuck and what makes a villain... because that influences how I talk about all the rest of it.

But most exciting this week, I actually remembered it’s monday! Wheee!

Ahhh, life has not been kind for the past couple of weeks but I’m finally back and able to post another smidgin of story for my @gish personal challenge…

The day was cool but bright, with a promise of warmer sunshine to come once the morning fog had cleared. It was Nia's day off, and as they ate breakfast they looked over at the pile of bright blankets that lay on the back of the sofa; just waiting to be parcelled up.

In recent days Nia had been knitting a lot more than usual, unable it seemed to concentrate on the books they had been reading. This had never happened before. Nia was at a loss to understand why the printed pages, that had always been both a refuge and a place of exploration and enjoyment, had seemingly abandoned their faithful friend.

Sighing, Nia finished the coffee that had gone cold in the bottom of their mug and put the breakfast things in the sink. Vowing to do the washing up later, they carefully parcelled up the blankets in brown paper and finished them off with a large luggage label. To each label, in large carefully written block capital letters, Nia had added the name of where each parcel was to go.

One parcel was destined for the charity shop, another for the hospice, and the third was labelled up for delivery to the small church of St Jude and St Leonard. Nia decided to drop off the parcels for the shop and the hospice first, as she was hoping to speak with the vicar - if he was there when she dropped the blankets off at the church.

Update 2 (1-14-21)

So I didn't make an update last week, but I'm not going to stress about it - especially since the whole point of this challenge for me is to find some time to relax. I did have some nice activities during the last two weeks. I continued working on my diamond painting and painted some boxes for my daughter that she is using to display her Disney Dorable collection.

Hello! I haven’t been to sleep yet so I’m still calling it Monday... time for my weekly update!

(almost on time, only an hour and a half late...)

I’ve had A Week™ and have barely written a word, but I am now fully vaccinated, so there’s that! I figure writing will wait until I feel like a human being again, and being healthy comes first.

I did get a new podcast episode out, and I think I’ve finally actually gotten half decent at it. I’m keeping the episodes to a reasonable length and figuring out how hard it is to just ~talk~ and sound like a coherent person with a point lol. I’m so used to being able to edit myself when I write. I mean, I do edit the podcast, but it’s different than being able to write out what I want to say and tweak it and add stuff... it’s just an entirely different experience than typing out meta. I’m really enjoying it, and I hope everyone who listens is enjoying it too. :’)

But this is technically supposed to be about the fic I’m supposed to be writing. Which I will hopefully be doing again soon, but I’m also not going to stress myself out over it. Sometimes it’s just like that.

Actually posting my @gish personal challenge on Sunday this week, whoop!

Whilst she was reading, Issie spent a long time examining a number of large diagrams that were cleverly pasted into the book so they could be folded out, concertina style, and studied at the same time as reading the relevant page of information in the book.

Fine lines and cross-hatched markings, along with numbered labels, mathematical formulas, and measurements of scale, were used in a series of detailed diagrams of the moon and its movements around the earth. A list in very small print, which described what each number referred to, appeared below each diagram. Issie was fascinated by the details, although she didn't always understand exactly what was being shown. She made lots of notes about the diagrams in her notebook, as question after question popped into her head.

Just as Issie finished reading to the end of the third chapter, Kiveh poured each of them a cup of tea and sat down at the table.

"So, talk to me about what you've read this morning Issie. What did you discover?"

They talked for more than an hour, Issie asked her questions and made even more notes as Kiveh answered them patiently and asked questions in return.

As their lively discussion drew to a close, Kiveh prepared lunch; leaving Issie to make a few final notes and save her place in the book before carefully putting it to one side with the others. It occurred to her that, in half a day, she had only worked through a tiny part of all that lay before her. Rather than feel discouraged, however, the thought energised her - Issie wanted to learn everything, however long it took!

I've been working on my Diamond Dotz. It's been very relaxing. Before yesterday, I had not worked on this since August. Pretty much once school started, I stopped working on it. I'm really excited to see it unfolding.

I've always been particularly sensitive to the texture of food. I'd rarely eat any fruit because of the skins and so many of them 'pop' when you bite them. I'm still struggling and can't chew them for long but I'm pushing myself out my comfort zone for late night study snacks. I've even eaten passion fruit and that's tasty but wow...
