what i think people are missing about derol in glass onion is that he is played by noah segan. the same guy who played trooper wagner in the first knives out movie. and i for one, think noah should continue to play goofy little characters in the rest of the knives out movies. not anything to do with the mystery, not a potential killer or anything, just a goofy little guy living his best life, fangirling over his fave mystery author and getting high as hell on a billionaires greek island. good for him.

Knives Out and Glass Onion obviously are great for a multitude of reasons, but I enjoy how at the center, the REAL victims and those who got justice for the people wronged in the end were WOC and I want to see more of that if/when more sequels come out.

Guys. GUYS.
I may have watched Glass Onion one too many times and only now realized that they actually put a full-on Among Us scenario in there with the whole “Light out!” part!
That’s literally what you do to sabotage as an Imposter.
There’s a gun.
Everyone runs around trying to fulfill their little tasks/trying to survive/panicking.
Birdie even has a comically large knife.
AND THEN BLANC DRAGS EVERYONE AWAY FROM THE BODY TO HOLD AN EMERGENCY MEETING.
I’m probably the last one to realize this, but it’s just so visually neat I had to gush for a moment. Foreshadowing (affectionate).

If I could add one thing to Knives Out, it would be a post-credits scene where Blanc, having tested positive for COVID, is on the phone with Marta, who is berating him for going to a party in the height of a pandemic.

So is there purpose behind the fact that the twins are named Cassandra and Helen or what? Probably, since the bulk of the movie happens *in Greece*
Cassandra always told the truth, but was never believed (Andi in court) and Casandra Brand rightly 'prophesied' that Klear would be dangerous
And Helen started a war - granted Helen of Troy didn't really *do* anything, she just kind *existed* and boom, war. Still, a beautiful woman who stops people in their tracks? Check! Creating/causing havoc? Check! (The start of 'the disruptors' was even 10 years prior to the main part of the movie, wasn't it?)
Oh! Cassandra prophesied that Troy would fall!
There's probably a better, more scholarly breakdown than this, lol (and I'm certain there's other parallels I've missed) but it's fun to parse out meaning in movies that are briming with *deliberate* connections.
It's magic
Can't wait for the third 😉

“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” (2022)
Directed By Rian Johnson
Netflix
Poster:
Tumblr media
Rian Johnson has stated that he was considering having a running joke of Benoit Blanc’s accent change to a different one each installment into the franchise with no explanation. However, he decided against this
Ethan Hawke’s cameo wasn’t actually planned. The dock scene was shot in Greece, and Hawke happened to be nearby, in Budapest, filming for Moon Knight
Benoit Blanc is hinted to be gay in this installment through the flashback scene in Blanc’s apartment. Blanc’s actor, Daniel Craig even stated that this was purposefully alluded to in the script.

Of course Andi didn't deserve to die but... She was as bad as her friends and Miles.
Helen tell us, is never hidden than Andi isn't just the good one
Andi choose her friends not because she likes them, but in order of their potential to be useful (Miles included).
Helen was her twin, but no one of her friends know about her, her "closest friends" weren't aware of her family.
Andi never called Helen, she saw her in television... She just forgot her sister because she wasn't useful, and even Andi was rich and successful her sister was Middle Class teacher and she never bothered to speak to her.
Andi was obviously narcissist enough to believe that Miles wasn't a threat at all, and let him into her house and let him make coffee for her.
She died because of the people she choose to be with, because her plans to get money no matter who she had to manipulate, Duke was right: she just lost her own game.
And this is personal but I don't think she was worried about Klear being dangerous to people as much she was worried about Klear being dangerous to Alpha and her own image and money.

Idk if anyone have said this but the box wasn't even Miles' idea, he explicitly admitted that he asked someone else to make a good puzzle 😭 this man has not a single creative bone in his body

I watched Glass Onion recently, thoughts under the cut (Spoiler warning!!)
My thoughts (Which are oponions/personal interpretation) on it are that it was a movie that didn't feel like it was actually about the mystery. It was much more about watching the relationships of these people unfold as circumstances force them to admit things that revealed more of their personal onion layers.
I felt like it held up well to the first one not in that it's a many leveled mystery, but in personality. The characters each were themselves, distinct for a lot of their own reasons. There was plenty of points where many of them came together under common need but they clearly had more happening.
It wasn't meant to be a mystery. If it was Mike would have been killed at the dinner and then Blanc would have told us what was supposed to happen and then everyone would have to solve what actually happened because for a range of reasons they are trapped until the press arrives or something like that.
It was about watching multiple stories unfold around each other not with someone at the middle but a conclusion. And I think that's pretty satisfying for me. Mike is not dead is revenge for what he did to her. He won't be able to pay his way out, his money gone from what they did. Helen is alive (That part had me really bad tbh) and got revenge without taking a life. The other three will face consequences for their choices, but they're not holding onto Mike anymore.
I hope Whiskey finds a good future. I think she's got a good future out there if she lets herself build her own space to speak about what she really believes.
I can imagine how frustrating it must have been to be cheated by a man Cassandra trusted as a friend only to have the rest of her friends side with him, even though he shows signs of reckless endangerment of others lives, strong self preservation, and a willingness to throw any of them under the bus for himself.
My rating? ★★★★★. I'm not jumping and clicking my heels, but I'd definitely recommend it to watch, it's very good and I liked the colors a lot in it.
OH AND BLANC's OUTFITS WERE SO CHARMING!! He's got style.
There's a lot of other topics, themes, and coding put in this movie but I'm tired and kinda of high tbh so I don't have it in me to spell it all out, because this was a spur of the moment thing but *shrugs*
