I didn’t know I could love Little Witch Academia even more, but the making of for the first short film just really sells how impressive the whole process was. I couldn’t believe that the scene of Diana launching herself off the wall on her broom, a part of the movie that really stuck with me for how much of Diana’s personality it exhibits, wasn’t even part of the storyboard. It was improvised by a junior animator (most of the key animation staff were new animators). Insane.

i love how rvb took halo, a game which sparked controversy surrounding violence among children for its warlike nature and being a testament to how militarism has consumed everyday life, and said “you know what? let’s make it an anti-war story.” just a big middle finger to the face of the blatant propaganda of its source material. i find that to be beautiful.

I was prepared for the one two punch of the episodes Limbo and Memoria, but I DID NOT remember that Time to Kill was IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT.

I feel like all I’ve been doing today was fawn over KK and how adorable he is. Like the whole KK nickname, his dog phobia even though he can understand them, him being scared when falling, him humming as a habit, how he does his best to help people but especially kids, him talking like he’s doing all the work but Akito is like ‘??? I did everything?’, and then the implications later on of him and Akito actually tapping each other in and out of control of the body. Like that’s a man right there that I want Akito to make fun of his childish side and slobby side. Akito is so right when he said that it’s funny to watch KK struggle. I like seeing all his reactions when Akito talks back. I’m holding a couple of my irl friends hostage and forcing them to play some Ghostwire instead of Baldurs gate atm so I can rant about my obsession to them lol

My favorite interaction, at least so far, is in the school when you find the art room and Akito’s like I bet you don’t like art, and KK goes I dunno I think I’m pretty good at drawing, and Akito’s voice raises like two octaves when he goes really?????? And you just know he’s thinking about KK’s shitty fucking stick figure drawings in some of his case notes 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I love their dynamic and the nuance to their characters so much, cuz like Akito seems so sweet and cute and innocent but he’s SUCH a little shit, and KK seems like a dick with his gruff, hard boiled, devil may care attitude but he’s actually so soft and earnest. I adore them 😭😭😭

Yi City arc is amazing. The horror of the “walking corpses”. Xue Yang experiencing one terrible things as a child and making it everyone’s problem forever in a completely unjustified way. Xiao Xingchen hearing said story and that all Xue Yang wants are sweets, and giving both him and A-Qing candy every day. Xue Yang casually helping Xiao Xingchen pick out nice vegetables at the market. Song Lan’s death. Xiao Xingchen’s reaction upon learning the truth being to kill himself. Xue Yang shouting desperately over his lifeless body, but his soul has dispersed beyond saving. A-Qing running away, but not far enough. A-Qing realizing that no matter what, she’s going to die, and using her final moments with a tongue to spew the most heinous curses she knows.
