He's always been on the lean side, but he hasn't been skinny since probably eighth grade, when he was still gawky and growing into his frame. But this is different; this isn't awkward adolescence, something he'll grow out of, this is the sight of his ribs through his skin and his hipbones jutting out and his wrists getting too skinny for his watch. This is feeling cold all the time and struggling to lift things he used to be able to pick up without much trouble

(It's fear, too. Not just a fear that he'll never get back to where he used to be, but fear that something will happen and he'll be too weak to stop it. Too weak to help. Too weak to protect anyone the way he should)

There are days he can't quite stand looking at himself; can't stand the sight of baggy clothes that used to fit perfectly, can't stand looking at tired eyes staring out of the sharpened angles of his face. He feels insubstantial this way. Like anyone could look right past him - right through him

Eddie never does, though. He never treats Steve differently, except to worry about his health - but never what he looks like. He hugs Steve as tightly as before, kisses him just as hard as before, whistles at him when he catches Steve in the middle of dressing, just like before. Like he isn't disappointed that Steve doesn't look good anymore, like he isn't even bothered

He'll hold Steve, and pull him close on bad days, and he'll let Steve be upset, but he'll never stand for Steve speaking badly about himself. He'll always push back, sometimes gently, sometimes loudly, always reminding Steve that he loves him, and what he looks like is a part of that. Reminding him that Eddie loves it all

"But you can gain it back, if you want to. When you're doing better," Eddie tells him

"What if I'm never doing better? What if I can never get back to where I was?" Steve demands. "What if this is just my body now?"

"Then it is." Eddie kisses his shoulder, his neck, his cheek. "Then I'll help you learn how to love it as much as you did before. As much as I still do."

And he says it so openly, so honestly, that even on bad days, Steve thinks that maybe - maybe he could be okay

what kills me the absolute most is that he doesn’t even particularly like armand I cannot stop thinking about it. during every interaction 90% of him is like Jesus Christ this is tedious. and then he actually heeds Claudia for once and reflects on Armand’s sensitivity cuz he doesn’t trust it (manipulative little gremlin) and is like alright I have to take control of this situation because he mentioned the secret to me and to Claudia twice in like. Two days. and the worst thing is by 2022 they’re not even locked together in hatred they’re just kind of sleeping in the same bed sorry I’m just repeating the events of the episode now but he really said no in front of. The entire coven. he really can’t stand Armand quoting love poems. I can’t get over it. He didn’t commit to being Armand’s dom bc he particularly wanted to he did it because he’s in danger and needs to stop this from getting out of hand like it did last time (vintage lioncourt). like he knows that is a megalodon. situationship of the century. yeah yeah Regulus pining after James as a child and James doesn’t notice him but James when he was a child constantly asking Sirius where his brother is and if he can come out to hang out with him and makes up some excuse as to why he’s asking for it so much James who when they started being friends constantly tagged after Regulus and if he was out with his other friends James just waited by the phone for his call James who is so pathetic when it comes to his love for Regulus literally everyone besides Regulus knows about it James who stares hopelessly after Regulus never asking for more because he’s not sure Regulus feels the same way and soothes himself by saying “at least we’re best friends” at least they have that kind of love

ooh i have a question about betting odds actually because i never understood how you could have like 1:10 instead (bigger number on right) like. would that not mean you pay them money? why would anyone ever place a bet on odds like that?

great question! common source of confusion.

so with betting odds the first most important thing to remember is this: you always get your initial stake back if you win

the odds are then what you get back on top of that

if something is 10:1 that means for every £1 you bet, you will get £10 on top if it comes true. a £1 bet would therefore come back as £11 (your initial £1, + your £10 winnings)

if something is 1:10 then for every £10 you stake, you gain £1. so your hypothetical £1 stake comes back to you as £1.10. something 1:10 is so basically guaranteed to happen (there's a 90% chance it does, 10% chance it doesn't) that bookies aren't going to give you much of a prize for saying it will. similarly most people won't bother betting on it because getting an extra 10p simply isn't worth the effort it took to do it in the first place.

sometimes you get funky odds like 9:14 or 17:2 but they all work the same way. the left number is what money you get (on top of your initial stake) if you bet the number on the right. bet £14 and win? get an extra £9. bet £2 and win? get an extra £17

tldr odds 'the other way' don't mean you owe them money, it means your additional payout on top becomes fractional. 1:100 truly would not be worth it because you'd have to bet £100 to get a whole extra £1
