If I control a Ria Ovor, Bane of Bladehold and a Gisela, Blade of Goldknight, and I go to combat and target Gisela with Ria Ivor, how many mite tokens will I make when Gisela hits? Since they're both replacement effects do I get to pick the order they apply? Does this change if a third player controls the Gisela and I hit the second player with a different creature targeted by Ria Ivor?

The controller of Gisela is irrelevant here beyond which of her abilities applies to the damage being dealt, so she could be yours or another opponent's and the result would be the same.

So what is the result here? Unfortunately, it's the worst case scenario for you, or at least it's likely to be. Both Gisela's ability and Ria's ability affect the combat damage that the creature would deal to your opponent. When multiple replacement or prevention effects want to modify the same combat damage event, then the player being damaged (or the controller of the creature or planeswalker being damaged) gets to choose which effect gets applied first. In this case, they'll almost certainly choose to prevent the damage with Ria's ability first, leaving nothing for Gisela to double.

Whats your favorite deck in mtg in any format?

My all-time favorite has to be Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, for commander. I believe it was the…second deck I ever built? And the first one I ever double-sleeved. The goal is to turbo ramp out Gisela, then cast an Embercleave or Uncaged Fury or something to turn her into an OHKO via commander damage.

I could be misremembering, but I believe I built her in response to someone telling me Boros was the worst two-color combo for commander. Granted, this deck ain’t exactly blowing the doors off power level-wise, but I’ve picked up a couple wins here and there with it against the guy who said that, so that’s a win in my book.

Also, Gisela is part of a set! I honestly didn’t mean to, but over the years I ended up also building commander decks for Bruna Light of Alabaster, Sigarda Heron’s Grace, and Liesa Forgotten Archangel. Damn decent decks, all four of em, if I do say so myself.

Patreon sketch request for Goldnight Angel! Her elf OC Avanoria equips a cursed artifact, which turns her from a dainty sophisticated sorceress into a strong barbaric warrior! Avanoria put on the belt as a joke, she didn't seriously intend on keeping it on. It was just supposed to be a quick test of how it looked on her,  she thought it'd be funny because the oversized belt would never fit her. To her shock, her body started expanding immediately to fit it. She tried and tried to take the belt off, but all she managed was resting her hands on it like a power pose! Even worse, her mind is filling with confidence and pride about her new horrid un-elven stature. will she ever turn back into the powerful elven sorceress she once was!? Cornwall's Random Card of the Day #676: Gisela, Blade of Goldnight

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is a mythic rare from Avacyn Restored, seen here in its Masters 25 printing.\

This was one of Avacyn's three sisters, each a gold white card paired with each colour which wasn't black. Gisela was the warlike, red one. This mythic was designed to be part of the storyline that angels were back on Innistrad.

And such a beating in limited! Granted, mythic rare, but still, whenever this one did come around, you were almost guaranteed to win the game, and I should know, I cracked her in a sealed event and went quite well. Avacyn Restored was the kind of limited environ where you could easily get to 7 if you wanted to, if I recall correctly. And there wasn't much removal going around for big creatures, either. Overall, though a cool rare, this one contributed to the impression that Avacyn Restored was an unfun, luck-based format.

I was playing open hand MtG and my opponent DIDN'T FIGURE IT OUT

Here's the position (with me upside down):

My opponent (playing Simic) is at 2 life and doesn't have anything with flying or reach so my Goldnight Redeemer will kill them next turn. But with a combination of four things, they can win this turn.

Simic (Blue/Green) to play and win in 1.

If you figure it out please reblog and tell me how long it took I want to know what difficulty this puzzle is

Hint 1 - I am at 10 life.

Hint 2 - A card attached to a creature is relevant here.

Hint 3 - They have enough mana to play every nonland card in their hand, no matter what I do, UNLESS they play both Give and Take.

“Please, Sorin,” scoffed the Voldaren progenitor. “You don’t seriously think I’m unaware of your…relation to that pest, do you? You give me far too little credit.”

The vampiric planeswalker awkwardly kicked at a stray pebble on the floor. “I don’t know what you’re…talking…about.”

Olivia gave Sorin a knowing wink. “I can respect the sentiment of keeping some human stock around, but I think you took it much too far. I simply cannot stand Avacyn’s self-righteousness. Reminds me of you, really.”

“Now wait a-”

“Hence why I…personally liberated the statue’s head from its shoulders during one of my functions.”

“Is that really what happened?” Sorin asked skeptically.

“But of course!” Olivia assured. “What would I have to gain by lying?”

“Hm.”

“Whoops!”

Gisela’s twin blades cut a wide arc, cleanly slicing through the statue of Avacyn. The Goldnight archangel panicked as the real Avacyn descended from above to assess the damage.

“Uh! Lady Avacyn! I was just training, and I-”

“Was the statue cursed?”

“Huh?” Gisela glanced to the ruined idol, and shrugged. “Oh. Er, I don’t think so, but that wasn’t why I-”

“Then I am off. I trust you to handle things here.”

“Uh, yes, ma’am!”

Gisela launched into a sharp salute as Avacyn departed. When the angel disappeared beyond the horizon, Gisela clapped a gloved hand against her forehead out of embarrassment.

“I have to stop doing that! That was the tenth one this week! Now how am I going to get rid of this mess? Maybe Liesa can take the…body.”

Gisela grimaced at the now-headless statue.
