I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of Goncharov (1973) before!!!! I watched it last night and was blown away. Truly ahead of its time.
I got the background text from @beelzeebub ‘s poster :)

It’s good that the writer’s and actor’s strike ended before Goncharov’s anniversary so we get to have at least some anniversary fan fare. I would have loved to get an actual reunion interview thingy, but a remastered version is nothing to scoff at.

"For My Love" Andrey's Serenade from Goncharov (1973)
Originally composed to show his love for Katya, Andrey plays ‘For My Love’ unknowing to Goncharov listening to his Serenade from outside, oblivious to his betrayal

“It catches up to us all, Goncharov— time.”
AHHHHHH IM SO FUCKING GLAD THIS MOVIE HAS FINALLY BEGUN TO BE TALKED ABOUT. THERE IS SO MUCH TO SAY, AND YET THE MOVIE ALSO?? SOMEHOW??? SAYS EVERYTHING THERE IS TO SAY. That’s what makes it so good I think- the queer representation, the subltleties of Scorcese’s work?? Everything. Me and my boyfriend decided to rewatch it together and everything holds up so well, we were both even crying by the bridge scene.
If you haven’t seen this movie yet, or you haven’t rewatched it in a while- without hesitation go watch it now. It is one of the only classics that I will sing praise for and it is so deserving. Goncharov is a movie like no other, all should experience it’s wonder.

Ok I know Goncharov and Andrey are supposed to be having this whole “will they, won’t they” thing going on, but like let’s be honest. They definitely fucked like 3 times and we all know after what scenes

Finally watched Goncharov with my bf. He's watched it before but we thought it'd be a nice ride. Bro.
I love that Katya's theme plays when Goncharov and Andrew share a cigarrete in the extended version. 2 minutes of pure eye contact and ending with an indirect kiss as Goncharov gives Andrew his cigarrete to finish. Implying that even in her absence, Katya is so present in Goncharov's decisions. Goodness, I can't handle these homosexuals.
Just get a room already.
