The Lord of Gongmen
It is said that a city is like a person. It breathes, swells and surges with life, even in the deadest, most derelict corner. Lord Shen is the last heir of Gongmen City, and the throne's rightful claimant. His 30-year return to his ancestral home has forgotten him his purpose. In grief and fear, he has willfully let himself forget what Gongmen City once meant to him. His sacrifices number many, and each one bears a simple reminder--one he would do well to heed:
Gongmen City never forgets.

Random kfp headcanons. Mostly the first 3 villains
1. If someone tries strangling Shen, he WILL say "harder" in the most lewd way possible to get them away.
2. Kai and Oogway used to playfully hit each other. They stopped after Kai almost broke Oogway's shell
3. Tai Lung combs his tail when nervous
4. Kai loves watching Shen practice his sword fighting because it looks like a beautiful dance to him.
5. Shen bites when stressed, so Kai lets him chew on his hand
6. Shifu still misses Tai Lung and wishes he was more careful when raising him.
7. The Soothsayer managed to escape Gongmen City and moved to the Valley Of Peace. And despite knowing he's most likely dead, she waited a month for Shen to wind up stood at her door
8. Kai can't dance at all, he tried dancing once and got too embarrassed to try again. Even when drunk he still refuses
9. Tai Lung and Shen don't like each other despite everyone else thinking they do
Kai and Tai Lung sometimes have to bundle Shen in blankets when he has mental breakdowns

ok ya’ll idea
au where shortly after po’s mom puts him in the radish basket, shen is able to find him before he’s delivered to mr. ping’s restaurant. Instead of killing him however, shen decides to take in (kidnap) po and raise him as his own.
He keeps po isolated and secluded from the world, telling him it’s a dangerous place with horrible people, in hopes that the ‘last’ panda in existence would be too obedient to his ‘father’ to defeat him.
meanwhile in the newly formed panda village, po’s dad and the rest of the pandas release lanterns into the sky on the same day that shen invaded their old village, as a way to honor the pandas who were killed during that day, including po (they think that he died). Po is able to see the lanterns from his window and watches them every year at night, wondering how something so beautiful can come from a world that his father said was selfish and cruel.
But then, during the same time where shen starts taking over gongmen city (the events in this timeline may be changed for this au), the furious five crash into the secluded home po lives in and is immediately knocked out by a frying pan.
yeah you guys can probably see the inspiration for this au

After the battle of Gongmen
Po: "We did it! ヾ(*>∀<*) We beat Lord Shen! We saved Kung Fu! We saved Gongmen City! We saved....."
Ti: "Save your heroic stories till we go back alright? Give me your hand."
*and Po laid his arm on Tigress' shoulder*
Ti: "Let's go home."
*after a few steps*
Ti: *cough* "Did you gain even more weight, Po?"
hard to believe I can even do this, it's the most complicated one I've done before and it took me like forever to finish it. If you have any suggestions or feeling something's not right at first glance, please leave a comment and let me know (ノдヽ)
Did anyone draw tipo with pose like this before? I believe there is but I can't recall😫

Hey so i was wondering if you could do a p2 to the kung fu panda au? Maybe with the second movie as the main recolved arc? If not thats fine i just really liked it lol ^^
Puss in Boots x Kung Fu Panda AU Part 2
Tumblr media
Death x Reader
A/N: Howdy anon! I had to brush up on KFP2 for this one, but I'm glad to continue this little AU! Though I did explore Death's relationship with the reader in the original post, I mainly did that with anticipating a part two. So for the sake of having a nice narrative, at the start of this little post, the reader and Death are just acquaintances. Thank you for sending in this request!
Tumblr media
You are living your best life as the Dragon Warrior. You're defending the valley, have five awesome new best friends, have one very cool kung fu master as your teacher (who was going to teach you all about inner peace!), and also your parent is still running the best noodle shop in the valley.
Also there's that one wolf guy: Death.
Sometimes he shows up when you're defending the valley, sometimes he doesn't. But whenever you see him, you're both glad to see each other. At least, you think he's glad to see you. Kind of hard to tell since you usually see him wearing his hood.
When you and the Five are sent to stop a gang of bandits, you're reminded that not all wolves are nice.
And you have a flashback of another panda, just like you.
Death appears (again). Normally, you'd be startled by his presence, but you're still reeling from the memory. He's Death, but he can't read minds, so you brush him off and gather the gang to head back home.
Sidenote: Yes, Death was there when your biological parent died. Yes, he could (and would) tell you more about them if you asked. But he hasn't put together the dots that you're remembering your past.
You ask your parent about your past, and now you're a bit shaken, having learned you're adopted and still having questions your parent can't give you answers to, but WHOOPSIES time for a quest.
(*Shrek the Musical Fiona voice*: Skip ahead, skip ahead, skip ahead-)
When you're out sitting on the boat to Gongmen City, you hear familiar whistling. It's Death. Initially, you freak out because now you're wondering if someone is going to die. But he clarifies that no one is dying. Yet. He confesses that he's been breaking a few rules recently, but he wants to check on you because you seem...troubled.
You talk about your nightmare.
For a minute, you're worried you've wasted his time. He's frowning and looking ahead on the river, thoughtful. "Sorry, that was a lot. I should let you get back to work doing your whole Death thing. I just...I don't really know where I belong. And it's not a great feeling. What did I do...for my parents to leave me?"
And the wolf stands up and shakes his head, quietly swearing under his breath. The things he does for love. "Mind if I tell you something?" You nod, curious. "I was there. When your parent left you in that crate." "Oh. Wait...does that mean..." "That doesn't matter right now." "Of course it matters! They could be-"' He grabs your shoulder. "Listen. They loved you very much. Both of your parents. They did what they needed to out of their love for you." "But why? And what happened to them?"
He is conveniently interrupted by the sight of Gongmen City and the Five waking up from sleep. He vanishes into the night.
You and the Five sneak into the city and see all the wolves. You're getting really sick of these guys. You try to get Rhino and Croc out, they can't leave because of the weapon, you run into the wolf boss again and you're all caught.
(Why can't these guys be more like Death? you think to yourself as you're climbing the many....many stairs in Shen's palace.)
And speak of the devil, you spot him in the shadows when you meet Shen for the first time. He looks more that displeased, paws firmly gripping his sickle handles. But he can't interfere in anything can he? Not after doing so much for you recently. You can't help but wonder if you're going to die right then and there in front of the canon. But Mantis saves you all and there goes the canon. Boom!
You try to get to Shen but you have another flashback. Shen escapes, and Death interferes again to get you and the Five out of the tower. You guys were having too many near death experiences for his taste. You all regroup together.
Once again, you are having an identity crisis, and Tigris tells you to stay behind, telling Death to keep an eye on you to make sure you don't do anything that'll get you killed.
Luckily for you, that's not in his job description.
"I don't take orders from anyone. Especially mortals." he sighs. The wolf nudges you with a wink. "Alright then, Dragon Warrior. Go. I won't tell."
Honestly, I think if I were going to give Death an arc this 'x reader' ver of KFP2, it would be the conflict between his duty to let the everything pan out and not interfere before he needs to take souls to the spirit world, and his own desire to engage in mortal life (ie. protect you) and talk to them and learn more about them (ie. you). He's already interfered so many times, and he can tell the cosmic balance was getting a little bit out of sorts. But...
Death decides to stay back during the fight, lurking in the shadows and doing his job properly. But he is shocked when Shen tells you that your parents didn't love you. And he loses it when you nearly die again to Shen.
He carries you out of the river and looks around desperately for help. He's Death. Death can't be afraid of anything or of anyone. Death shouldn't feel fear. But right now...he's terrified. He knows everyone dies at some point. It was inevitable. But was uncertain was whether or not him being there could actually lead to your death. If you died, would it have been because he interfered and got too close?
He follows the river away from Shen and the Five, and he makes it to the Soothsayer. The Soothsayer is vaguely aware that Death is someone from beyond the mortal world, but he rests you at her feet and tells her to help you.
When you recover, it takes both of them talking to you in order for you to recover your memories and achieve inner peace. When the Soothsayer tells you that your present actions define who you are, something resonates with Death.
He joins you, the Five, and the Masters in the final fight in Gongmen. Cosmic law be damned, Death says no to weapons of mass destruction. He's going to let his actions define him and how he approaches his relationships.
Yeah, no. Seeing you make the water droplet technique your own made him fall even harder for you.
And once again, I have a link to swanpit's art because 1. This art is hilarious and beautiful and 2. I think seeing Shen and Death interact like this would be lovely and fits this fic.
But yes. Our Dragon Warrior achieves inner peace and Death is becoming more and more of his own person aside from literally being Death.
Tumblr media
Also: on the trip back to the valley, Death tags along. And he may or may not try to indirectly ask you out to dinner. You say "Sure! Let's head to my parent's place!" and his tail is thumping on the boat's deck, causing it to tip a little. Needless to say, he's excited.
Changing timeline things from the first post so that they now occur after KFP2:
At this point, he starts showing up more frequently, during and outside of battles, and he seems more relaxed around you. And you come to learn that his presence doesn't always mean someone's going to die. He just wants to visit. (And after so long observing how people live and die, he has a chance to try living for himself.)
He starts dragging you away from training to get a meal together in town or to go on a nice walk in the mountains.
When Shifu complains, Death shrugs. "Alright then." He draws his weapons, snapping the sickles together and forming his staff. "Let's continue the Dragon Warrior's training then."
Plenty of sparring practice and playful banter between the two of you. It's so much fun for the both of you, and you start tag-teaming during battles. He joins you and the Five in your fights, always sure to use just a fraction of his strength as to not kill everyone in his path. But he reaps souls if need be.
And after all of this, in a shocking turn of events, you are the one to confess your love to Death.
And after all of this, he can confidently reciprocate that love.

This is Yuwei! A very empathetic but also sometimes a selfish ninja crow! She mostly does missions for her master but (sometimes) she does some for shen too. (Shen enjoys her company but only considers her as an informant/"business" partner, so to speak)
I intend to give her more personality over time, and a good story too, I think it would be generic for her to be some kind of animal that grew up on the streets or something, I accept ideas though.
Her old design/reference sheet:
Tumblr media
The fact that I drew this first one weeks ago
Bonus
Tumblr media
He is a concept for an AU where Yuwei continues Shen's legacy (no, he is not Shen's son, he would be an abandoned peacock that was found and taken to Gongmen City Palace, and it would be 2 peacocks, but I just drew this one for while, the color won't be the final color though, I don't think I'll ever do this AU, honestly. Anyway his name is Kang.
Kfp is motivating me to draw animals and specifically birds, And I'm going to enjoy it.

Kung Fu Panda different POV
A while ago I had a conversation with my friend about Kung Fu Panda antagonists and here’s what we came to in conclusion:
Kung Fu Panda 3:
Kai - a great warrior, master Oogway’s best friend.
Unfortunately as we all know “history is written by winners”, the only way we learn about Kai is from ONE scroll written by Oogway himself - meaning we only hear HALF of this story. The Kai, Po meets is a Spirit Warrior - a wraith stuck in the state of mind he had before ending up in Spirit World, unable to evolve and change.
Tumblr media
The REAL Kai however cared about his allies and friends. He risked his life and traveled in hope to find help for his wounded friend.
Tumblr media
What Oogway saw as empty greed, might have actually been Kai’s way to prevent loosing his friends in future. Imagine, if while fighting another huge battle him and Oogway could heal their soldiers with their enemies’ Qi. Everyone would tremble before them. (I know, sounds horrible in long shot, but you get my point)
Tumblr media
Their final battle as mortals was probably just a rush decision - maybe Oogway never gave Kai chance to explain his train of thoughts.
Kung Fu Panda:
Tai Lung - (personally, my favorite character) a prodigy student, promised a lot yet banished for following orders.
First his talents: Tai Lung is a great example of body, mind and spirit’s fully used potential. First is the prison scene - he had enough patience to wait for the opportunity to free himself from restrains with JUST A FEATHER.
Tumblr media
- Then the climb - without taking a single hit, he overpowered all guards, who stood in his way. Using their own weapons and planning 3 steps ahead. Sure the last falling bridge was a surprise, but he still told himself “I can’t waste this chance.” and gave his all in a matter of seconds to outsmart his opponents.
Also don’t forget that he could still control himself. Prison fight was a coldly calculated set of actions, but then he takes a deep breath and DOESN’T HARM the messenger - he’s gentle and calm.
Tumblr media
- Next is bridge fight against Five - look at the difference between him and Tigress - she’s struggling to keep balance and stiffly tries to hold her stance, while he is flawlessly walking and jumping on unstable bridge. This also shows their self-confidence: He knows what he’s capable of and that he can only count on himself, while she believes in her team, she knows they will bail her out off trouble - she’s just a piece of something bigger, which only works well, when put together. But yet again Tai Lung outsmarted them, by knocking them out off fight one by one.
Tumblr media
- Fight with Shifu - this is where we learn the story from HIS side. His whole life Tai Lung was looking up to his teacher, mentor and father figure, executing every order flawlessly. And even if becoming the Dragon Warrior wasn’t meant for him, he could’ve become a great master of Kung Fu and maybe one day stand by Shifu’s side.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately he was let down by his master. Shifu had one card and bet everything on this one card, feeding Tai Lung hopes and instead of saying: “Ok, so Master Oogway said you won’t be the Dragon Warrior, BUT we can keep training and see where this will take us.”, he stayed silent, didn’t even try to defend his student or ask Oogway “Why?”.
In Tai Lung’s eyes it was a betrayal - he probably thought Shifu will from now on think he’s useless to him. That’s why when he finally met with his former master, he snapped and let loose of his anger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was already perfect for master, but no one told him that and so that’s why he didn’t understood the Dragon Scroll’s message. The only reason Po won, was because he understood that he’s perfect the way he is and has to think outside of box to create fighting style fitting for him.
Kung Fu Panda 2:
Shen - heir to the Gongmen City throne and educated strategist.
Now I left him at the end, because it took us a bit to understand his character.
Shen was a promising general, he invented a new type of weapon and wanted to revolutionize ways of fighting, BUT I believe his parents had outdated mindset, not seeing their son’s potential. I mean they went to SOOTHSAYER instead of talking with him. Then “they died from sorrow” - yeah no sh!t, you kinda banished your only child.
Also about his strategy skills. Shen knew a bit how to fight in close combat and knew he has no chance against three guarding Kung Fu masters, yet he put up a good fight against two of them. By using tricks, patience, his opponents’ weaknesses AND most importantly - he broke their fighting spirits by defeating their master with new weapon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shen fought with his head and he showed that while also fighting Po. To him it was a game of chess.
Now You might think I’m defending characters, who did a lot of harm - but before you judge someone, learn whole story first.
That will be all - thank You for reading mine and my friend's opinion on this.

KFP 2 : Firefeather au
Because why not
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I figured out Mwamei and Shen's ship name, which is Firefeather (following firework theming and both of them being birds)
Anyway, warnings ig.
OcXcannon based AU, Selfship themes, Story changes (duh), Possibly sterotypical backstory writing (since we don't get enough of it), OP hasn't watched fourth movie yet and has heard its absolute garbadge, OP is lacking lore for the first movie bear with her, OP is not trying to justify character actions, AU mostly focuses in giving shen more context than "child started making b0mbs in his room".
Click here for Mwamei (oc) lore Its only a quick skim, but it gets her point across.
Tumblr media
Anyway, for some Firefeather!Shen lore.
Shen in this AU is born albino (since i dont think it was confirmed that he is)
As a result of being born albino, his parents decided to help him out by getting his feathers permanitly dyed with his favorite color at the time (red), dying a pattern of his choice.
Despite the lack of attention he would get from his parents doing their diplomats duty, Shen didn't seem to mind (being undignosed ASPD)
Thankfully most were able to teach him in his formative age what was proper manners and morals...But that didn't mean he would follow them all the time.
Due to being born with Albinism, he wasbullied lightly and teased. though, that wasn't the worst thing.
When he was concidered a freshmen in his schooling, a fireworks festival was held, and he got to light one...Though it backfired, and took out his legs. Such prompted more bullying, causing his grades to drop.
Though he was very anti-social, he didn't actually think his parents cared enough about him...Well, since he didn't know them. He thought he had to please them, and get their attention, despite the fact the only thing in the way of their relationship was the peacock higharky being extreamly selfless to thousands
So, while they continued dealing with city issues, Shen continued watching his grades drop because of his bullying, begining a spiral,
The spiral soon lead to him begining to make bombs, though on accsident at first, he enjoys the attention he was finally getting from his parents.
Until the prophecy.
The prophecy scared him. Not just scared, him, but terrified him. He didn't know when he was going to die, where he was going to die- hell the existentialism gave him a panic attack alone.
Thinking he had nothing left to loose, he decided he would kill whatever could be made into his oponent. Pandas.
Though, he didn't do much research. So his attempt at forced extinction only ended in the pillage of a simple village. Though, it was a bloody one, and he did it without thinking.
when he arrived home, he thought his parents would recognize him for fixing his problem-
but it only gained him negative attention. so, he was banished. Though it broke his parents, he didn't know, simply because he really didn't know who his parents really were.
Tumblr media
Now, in movie lore.
Mwamei is a notorious criminal in gongmen city, though the athorities had compleatly stopped dealing with her and jailing her. As much adressing went, they would provide anybody who was beat up with free medical and such payments.
Though, when Shen came to power, he couldn't sleep due to her noise. So, he arrested her to be tried in front of him. She was scentenced to life in prison from her multiple offenses, but it didn't last long. She attemped escape over 20 times, and was sucsessful, as she always made it to the throne.
Eventually, Shen decided the only way to teach her...well anything, was to make her his bodygard. So far, they stand as villanous (sort of) parralels to Tigris and Po. Though, it takes a little bit in the movie for Shen to realize he's getting attatched.
During the final battle sequence, Mwamei ends up passing out due to the fight, right before Shen was supposed to seal his fate. The other furious 5 and po would watch as Mwamei and Shen would have a nice moment while she wakes up after her little moment of unconciousness.
After the movie, maybe during a final scene, Mwamei ends up confessing while they have a nice moment on a balcony somewhere outside of gonghem (because Shen is still banned.)
Since i haven't watched movie 4, i do want to rewrite it as a sort of half-redemption ark to Shen, where the best he can do is try to apologize to po and the furious 5 by trying to help beat the other villans. (and possibly a past version of himself.)
I may update this, but i'll tag it <3

(((OOC: Since Fan Tong is mostly a momma's boy and is raised by his mom in the Modern AU, is his dad absent for most of the time. Also, as for Tai Lung and Lord Shen, what're they like in this AU?)))
Yeah his dad is absent at work alot- however, he does make time for his family and always shows up for special occasions, especially for his son's kung fu tournaments and matches. He's always the one filming everything (if it was a show it'd be a running gag that the audience never sees his face- it's always concealed by a phone or camera or something else). He's very shy.
Lord Shen?- I think he'd be a politician as well as a CEO of an arms dealership. He had to start his own business from the ground up after his parents disowned him from their fireworks congolmerate after he participated in some...shady dealings. He runs most of the black market in Gongmen City, and provides gangs with arms and ammo in exchange for their "services". I don't think there was a panda genocide in this AU, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few certain pandas ended up being collateral in some of his projects/dealings.
Tai Lung is Shifu's adopted son, and was also once the best student in Oogway's school. However, after being denied the honors title of Dragon Warrior, Tai Lung fell into a bitter streak that eventually led him to getting into violent fights with other students, performing illegal moves in matches, and finally getting expelled. After that, it was a downward spiral- Tai Lung successfully burned every bridge in his life, and began participating in street-fighting and gang violence. He became a sort of jailbird, going in and out of prison for awhile until a confrontation with Po caused him to see the light and slowly, painfully, and steadily seek redemption...starting with repairing his broken relationship with his adopted father. Currently he works in Mr. Ping's noodle shop (and can occasionally be seen with a certain ribbon dancing panda on his arm 👀).

Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: Kung Fu Panda 2
Tumblr media
Full disclosure, I haven't seen this movie or Kung Fu Panda 3 in years so I was excited to revisit the entire franchise again! And with good reason, because Kung Fu Panda 2 is fantastic! But... is it as legendary as the first movie? Well... let's get into it.
Tumblr media
We pick up with Po, now fully settled into his role as the Dragon Warrior, when he and the Furious Five set off to Gongmen City to stop the evil Lord Shen from using a deadly new weapon to take over all of China. Along the way, Po discovers the secrets of his forgotten past and must find inner peace despite the pain that past may bring.
The story here is even more simple than the first, very much carrying the vibe of an adventure movie more than establishing this world and characters like the first film did. And I do like that about it, I like that we get Po and the Furious Five being together as a team for most of the movie, getting to see how they all play off each other now that they're an established team. But... I think this movie is a touch more... spectacle than its predecessor was. More fight scenes, more slapstick, more... things happening instead of getting to know, say any of the other Five (besides Tigress, who is still the most in focus among them) better. It's all done very well, but it still feels like the movie is padding itsself out with that just a touch.
Tumblr media
The characters are all still great though. We get some really great development for Po here, along with his genuinely tragic backstory and how he learns to overcome the anguish losing his family at such a young age may bring. The Furious Five are also all still very fun, with some really great friendship moments between Po and Tigress in particular. As for our new characters, we have the Soothsayer, who is a really well-done wise elder type character who also lays the sass down on our villain. Speaking of which...
Tumblr media
I'm just gonna say it. I think Lord Shen may be one of the greatest Dreamworks villains ever. Holy shit ya'll, this goddamn peacock is just... insane. He has a tragic backstory too, but it's of his own damn doing, he's utter unhinged and bloodthirsty, hilarious in his own haughty way, and his design is so fucking great, like how Dreamworks made a peacock of all things so sinster, I'll never know, but they sure as hell did.
Tumblr media
Once again, the animation here is top notch, with even more beautiful stylization than the first. The colors pop so vibrantly and the kung fu scenes are an absolute feast to the eyes, as are the set pieces. The score is also utterly beautiful, a returning trend in this franchise, I've noticed, with both strong, punchy action tunes and stirring emotional melodies alike.
The humor here is still pretty strong, but I think it takes something of a back seat to the emotions. And golly, this story does have them, it's probably one of the heaviest movies Dreamworks has made yet (it opens on recounting a literal panda genocide, I mean). But it's message, about not dwelling in the past and that what matters is who you choose to be now is absolutely on par with the simple, beautiful wisdom of the first. And at the end of the day, it's a message I think Po and the audience learn in a perfectly poetic way.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Kung Fu Panda 2 is absolutely wonderful. I still think I like the first Kung Fu Panda just a little more, mostly because I think its message (beliving something is special is what makes it special) strikes a cord with me just a little bit more. Even so, this was a great second step in what's one of Dreamworks' best franchises. I'm very excited to see what the third (and the upcoming fourth) have to offer.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Verdict: Killed by a gay peacock and his big boom boom canon

like. he is such a huge nerd. he made his own F5 merch from scratch. he has illustrated scrolls of each member on his room walls. he is one of the only people to have seen the five's very first unofficial battle EVER and it changed the trajectory of his life. he once got his friends to help him sneak into a kung fu exhibit that was going to open the NEXT DAY. he's got nicknames and COMBO MOVES that HAD to have required an immense amount of knowledge and practice of each member's strengths. when he gets arrested in gongmen city his first impulse is to geek about the acupuncture cuffs they've placed him in. he is such a nerd.
