#gonna try and view new pokemon like this again
Text
This started as an ask I was gonna send to @teecupangel but then it got like seven paragraphs long and I decided fuck it I’m just gonna make it a post and @ teecup. So here goes!
Another Pokémon!Desmond idea (ps: this got long, tldr; shiny Goomy uncatchable Des)
So to set the stage, AC universe happens as normal but, in the AC universe, pokemon as a franchise doesn’t exist. Just not a thing at all. So, starting off Desmond (who doesn’t know what Pokémon is) dies because of the Eye and poofs into a new universe as he does every other Tuesday.
Now, flash to a Pokémon region. I’m biased so I’ll say Kalos. But most work. Desmond appears on one of the earlier routes as a shiny Pokémon. Because I’m still biased, let’s say a shiny Goomy even though Goomies shouldn’t spawn there.
Desmond, newly goopified, doesn’t know what the fuck is going on. He’s a glob now. And the animals around him are fucking weird. And seemingly only live in the tall grass.
He can’t figure out how to use any of his “moves” outside of basically tackle and scratch and other similarly basic things. So he’s pretty dam weak, probably relatively low level, only thing he has going for him is that he’s fast and, relatively, smart. He’s still got human level intelligence which is enough to outsmart the vast majority of Pokémon.
He spends some time on this route, getting used to things, using his Eagle Vision (which he still has) to find berries, avoiding fights, and just enjoying his forced retirement to another universe. It’s Desmond, unless properly motivated, I think he’d be willing to settle in and chill.
But uh oh, trouble is afoot. In the form of! A CHILD no
This little kid toddles down the path with a belt full of pokeballs. Desmond, who is still new to this world, sees the kid and decides to approach. Why? Idk man, the brain cell got burned by the Eye.
The kid is like “OH MY GOD SHINY GOOMY!” And immediately initiates a Pokémon battle.
How does this feel to Desmond? Im not sure. But he definitely can tell somethings up when the kid starts screaming in another language, sounds like French? (If you get why, you get a cookie), and throws a ball that somehow summons another creature. Let’s say a Caterpie.
The Caterpie is low level, about as intelligent as a real caterpillar, and big. (Fun fact apparently Goomy and Caterpie are the same height). Now Desmond is concerned, especially when the kid yells a command and the huge ass bug attacks him. Caterpie only knows like three moves so it probably just tackles. Desmond, not being an idiot or actually a real Pokémon, dodges. The kid looks surprised but yells again and the Caterpie attacks again. After a few times, Desmond decides “Fuck this shit, I’m out.” and nopes on out of there. The kid is absolutely shocked that the shiny Goomy just ran from the battle and also that it dodged everything.
Desmond meanwhile, hidden now, checks on the kid and sees that they’re blue in Eagle Vision. He’s not sure whether to be surprised or not. On the one hand, he’s never seen a kid that was red, but on the other hand, this kid attacked him.
He metaphorically shrugs it off and continues foraging for berries, he’s trying out new combinations.
Meanwhile, this child runs back to wherever they came from, and eagerly spreads the news about the wild shiny Goomy they saw. Most people don’t believe them, but a couple other kids are curious enough to go looking later.
Another day begins and Desmond stumbles upon a group of kids this time. The original kid among them. They’re speaking quickly, yeah he’s pretty sure it’s French, too bad that’s one of the languages he barely gets (I don’t care if he’d know some via Ezio, he’d know 15th century French, not modern day Pokémon world French). They’re gesturing wildly and some of them are looking accusatorially at the original kid. Desmond tries to get a little closer and, just his luck, stumbles into view of the group. Uh oh.
Several minutes later, the kids are confused as hell, several Caterpies are furiously working their hamster wheel brains to understand what’s happening, and Desmond is starting to question what’s up with the people in this universe.
But something special happened this time. At one point, one of the kids threw a red and white ball at him. It bounced off his head and rolled on the ground, doing nothing. Desmond was just annoyed. The kids were flabbergasted.
Rumors spread until actual researchers are tramping through the tall grass. Desmond is definitely avoiding them. Even if they’re white in Eagle Vision, those lab coats remind him a bit too much of Abstergo.
Eventually, after the human presence becomes a bit too much, Desmond decides to hit the road and moves out from his comfy little tall grass patch in the middle of the night. He settles down again somewhere else.
Repeat cycle a few times until the whole of Kalos has heard tell of this shiny Goomy who nobody can catch and seems to roam the whole region.
Idk what’s happening from there. Begin plot of Pokémon X/Y? Maybe Desmond meets AZ? Lots of options but idk.

Opening Post:
Tumblr media
It’s 1990, we open with Kangaskhan (Kanga for short) and her baby looking quite peeved.
“So you’re supposed to be my new guardian? Let’s hope you’re better than the last.” Hints that she’s a problem and almost refuses help altogether.
“Ironic, sending a human to protect me when humans have been the ones to take away from me.”
“It’s alright. I’m not a fan of humans either” the human replies. We’re gonna call him Arthur (Art)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over the course of the open inbox it’s revealed:
The weapon Art carries is from his time in the Kanto Johto war. He hasn’t fired his service weapon in almost a decade
Kanga and her baby are very much self sufficient and Kanga feels that this is an empty gesture from the people in charge
No matter how they try to evade him, Kanga and the baby are always chased down by Art because he’s that good at his job
Team Rocket is very much on the rise and is starting to get eyes on the safari zone
Art is very distrusting of humans, ESPECIALLY trainers
The baby goes a little bit behind her mom’s back to find out more about Art because she was told a lot of things but this is the first time she’s learning about things on her own
Plot point 1:
Kanga and the baby get into actual trouble
Art goes through great lengths to get them back to the safari zone but at the cost of his health
Even still, he refuses to fire his rifle
He’s badly hurt and taken to a hospital.
Kanga has this nagging feeling that this guy isn’t telling her everything so she demands to go with him.
Open inbox:
Art is fine and he makes it clear he’s been through worse
She questions him, others question him, he slowly opens up:
Tadaaaa backstory/flashback time
Tumblr media
Art was a “handler,” an officer who sent pokemon in waves to attack Johto to varying success
He was born in Kanto, but others distrusted him for obviously not having a lineage in the country
That pressure pushed him to send his most trusted companion, a Marowak, to his death. That Marowak's skull is what adorns his helmet.
He would’ve been the most decorated officer in the Kanto Johto war if he hadn’t thrown his medals away in disgust
He was a key figure in a coup that is responsible for the rise of the current Kanto government
He is still so dangerous that he’s considered an “Operator” (think of a trainer who fights along side their pokemon in perfect harmony) without having any pokemon under his command
He never wants to fire his weapon again.
Tumblr media
Plot Point 2:
Kanga and baby go back to safari zone while he heals. She’s all “well damn ok I guess this dude is at least trying to make things better” and slowly over time they become friends
Eventually, they develop a working bond and help kickstart the Kanto Preservation Operators Union (KPOU) with help from other people who are very much like Art.
The baby grows up and is anxious to see the rest of the world, Kanga lets her go with a tearful goodbye. She tells him that she’ll send letters to Art, especially. He feels accomplished for what he’s done.
After their time together, Art finally comes to forgive himself and starts to become a better person, coming out of his shell to make friends with more of the safari zone and even other humans who have like minded views.
Kanga starts to feel trustful again, inspired by the trailblazing that her daughter set out before her since the baby was the first to reach out to Art instead of her.
Tumblr media
Plot Point 2:
Team Rocket attack again, but this time, they actually want to take out the newly started KPOU so that they can cause trouble without impunity.
Art finally fires his rifle. This situation is no longer about him. Team Rocket is the embodiment of everything he hates about his past, and he won’t let the KPOU dissolve before it can do any good. With gunpowder and steel, instead of fighting for a wrong cause, he fights for his happiness.
Since team rocket know know he’s dangerous, they jump his ass with almost everything they have. He’s almost overrun but Kanga is the one to save him in the nick of time. Together, they fend them off
Tumblr media
Epilogue:
Done via article or written docu-series moment. The KPOU is a resounding success, one of the greatest success stories being the restoration of the Lapras population. Its founders are still living strong, doing better things by the day
The inbox is open for one last time, a final send off is had, and the askblog is over

Biweekly Media Roundup
- Dark (TV) - Started this ahem, dark time travel drama series after hearing some good buzz about it being a great, complete series with a satisfying ending that you should totally go into blind. I am really enjoying it, the mysteries, set-up, and tense atmosphere are all really solid, and I love how each episode is able to reach a satisfying conclusion without answering too many questions about the larger narrative. That being said, I do really wish I had a character chart. Without getting into too many spoilers, the series has parallel plotlines in multiple different time periods, with many of the characters appearing in more than one timeline as older or younger versions of themselves. In some cases which character is actually the same person or who is related to who is a big spoiler so I can’t just look up a character chart, but man is it difficult to keep all these people straight, the cast is huge, 100% white, and all have German names so I’m at a disadvantage here. Still recommend though.
- Star Trek Strange New Worlds (TV) - Yup.
- Lord of the Rings (Movie) - Finished the trilogy, don’t have anything interesting to say, great music and cinematography, Sam/Frodo are wholesome af, The extended edition is great but also so so very long.
- The Owl House (Cartoon) - Was pretty satisfied with the season finale, the collector’s theme and cosmic powers are great, love Belos getting absolutely bodied, and the plot wrapped up certain loose ends up nicely where it’s got some good legs going into the finale. Trying to find a good King plushie atm, his design is so cute and yet somehow Disney is not capitalizing on merch.
- Pokemon Brilliant Diamond (Video Game) - Started    a nuzlocke for this since I had gotten it for Christmas anyway. I don’t appreciate the clear lack of effort put into the game, but I do like pokemon so eh.
- Pathologic (Video Game) - Finally finished viewing a playthrough of all 3 of the classic routes, and both of the Pathologic 2 ones, bless you SulMatul for making this story accessible to those of us who are not good at video games. I really enjoyed The Marble Nest, I l’ve Artemy as well but it’s fantastic to get some spotlight on my scrungly Daniil again. Not sure which game I would say is better in general, The music is better in 1 and I like the duality/ambiguity of the endings, but I also appreciate how dynamic a lot of the dialogue and scenes in 2 are and appreciate that they strengthened Artemy’s relationships, Sticky and Murky especially were great in 2.
- Schitt’s Creek (TV) - Making our way through still.
- The Great Ace Attorney (Video Game) - A streamer I liked started on the 2nd game and I’m hyped to get to see it played in real time, I always had to watch the backlogs of streams before. The 3rd case is coming up which is one of my favorite ace attorney cases in general so hell yeah.
- Lot’s of Monster Anime (Multi-Anime) - Started onto Phase 2 of my monster anime project, placeholder is the cute GL anime Konohana Kitan about cute little gay foxgirls who run a fantasy hotel/ hot springs, very wholesome, very nice.
Listening to: Dead Man Walking by City Wolf, Fear & Delight by The Correspondents, Begin Again by Purity Ring, I’m Gonna Win by Rob Cantor, Samaritan by ionnalee, The Mother We Share by CHVRCHES, Sweet Talk by Saint Motel, Someone to you by BANNERS, Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride by Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu, Another Way Out by Hollywood Undead

do you have any submas headcanons in that lovely noggin of yours? 👀
I doooo! And I must say I love the attention these two have been getting, even if it is due to Ingo's unfortunate circumstances in Legends Arceus. Speaking of which, consider all of these pre-PLA.
~
• Locally, Emmet is the most well-known out of the two because he walks up and down the trains of the subway during travel, checking on passengers and making sure everything is in tip-top shape.
• He's also the one responsible for ridding the subway of troublesome passengers and does so with pleasure. If you're causing trouble or harassing other passengers, prepare to be cheerily "dropped off" at the next stop.
• Emmet eagerly jumps in and out of conversations at the drop of a hat, even with strangers. You could be minding your own business, riding the subway, and suddenly have him at your side, blurting random conversation topics, stating a fact about your destination, or asking you about your pokemon, and just as quickly as it started you turn back to him and he's gone.
• He also has trouble listening when others are speaking, making him very difficult to talk to at first if you don't already know him. He's very easily distracted and may change subjects suddenly or end the conversation quite abruptly even if you weren't finished speaking. You try to get back on topic but oops, he's already walking away.
• I don't think he's in any way trying to be rude or dismissive because if you make the effort to stay on a topic, he will happily continue to engage you...until he gets distracted again. That's just how he is, very high energy with a very short attention span, and a lot of people just have trouble keeping up well enough to get to know him past that.
•  If you have multiple run-ins with him, your conversations will begin to branch out more. Maybe it's the aspect of knowing who he's talking to as opposed to a stranger that adds that extra little bit of detail to your conversation and is just enough to keep him focused.
• He talked a lot before but just wait until you have his full attention. He'll eagerly go on and on about pokemon battles, the subway, Unovan tourist spots, what kind of food he likes, his brother, and practically anything else. And once you get him going he's not gonna stop. Not to mention with INTENSE eye contact the entire time.
• As opposed to before when you couldn't hold a steady conversation, now you can walk away while he's talking and he will literally follow you as he continues.
• It's almost endearing how passionate he is until you have to shut your front door in his face because he followed you the whole way home. "I am Emmet! You have a lovely home! I hope you have a good night! Let's talk again soon!"
• Ingo spends most of his time in the cab and is the voice you'd hear through the speakers announcing stops and departures. So he's a lot less common to run into than Emmet unless you're a trainer coming for a battle and are actively seeking him out.
• Ingo's face is hard to read, almost harder than Emmet's and a lot of people find his stiff demeanor to be cold and unwelcoming. That's just at a glance though, the impression you'd receive if you didn't bother to pay him any more than a once over from a distance. When approached, however, his eyes light up even as his expression remains unmoving.
• Not unlike, but differently so than his brother, Ingo loves to talk to people and gets very excited when others are the ones to approach him. That's when you get to learn the fun fact that he is LOUD; very polite, passionate, formal, and LOUD. He has been working on catching himself, usually when he notices the person he's talking to flinch or appear concerned, but he can't help it sometimes. Especially if you're someone new.
• I don't want to say he's nicer than his brother as they're both very friendly in their own ways, but Ingo is much more polite and socially aware. Ingo also isn't aware that other people may view him as intimidating because he tries his very best to be welcoming and has yet to realize that he's just terrible at facial expressions.
• He asked Emmet once if there was anything about him that might make others wary about talking to him but Emmet only responded with a resounding "Of course not! You are quite approachable! The approachablest even!" So for the most part Ingo has chalked it up to everyone else just being shy.
• The two of them live together somewhere very close to Gear Station and plan their day around the battle subway's schedule. They also don't take days off, at least not unprompted. They're both just very passionate about their positions, seeing it as a responsibility as well as a hobby.
• With that many quirks between them, despite their popularity as Pokemon Masters, the two of them don't have a lot of friends outside of just acquaintances or the regulars of the battle subway. This is in part because they work so much as well as the fact that a lot of people find them to be eccentric or intimidating.
• They're certainly not disliked by anyone, quite the opposite. The battle subway is incredibly popular and a great deal of Nimbasa city's opinion on them is that they're cool and admirable trainers. Just that it's the kind of admiration you have from distance.
• It's a shame too because while the two of them will always be content in each other's company, they are both very social and enjoy spending time with others. When the two of them get home at the end of the day, they'll often recount the events of the day to each other and that usually includes gushing about the new trainer or trainers they met or battled that day.
• If you have a run-in with one of them and then run into the other later, there's a chance if you left enough of an impression they will already know who you are. Or in Emmet's case, if Ingo mentions that he fought a particularly strong trainer, Emmet will actively seek them out on the battle subway in the coming days, eager to battle them himself. "Excuse me, are you (name)? No? Okay, thank you for your time! Excuse me, are you (name)? No? Okay, thank you for your time!", and he'll make his way down all the subways cars asking each person that matches their description until he finally finds and challenges them.
• The Two of them would be really excited to ever have guests over as it's not something that happens often. Elesa is the only person within their vain of work that has a relationship with them on a personal basis and since she's a gym leader she doesn't have a whole lot of free time either.
"My name is Emmet! This is my brother Ingo! You are our guest! Please make yourself at home!"
• Emmet will be constantly and enthusiastically refilling whatever beverage you're given before you ever have the chance to finish it and if you thought they talked a lot while at work just wait until your sat between the two of them, looking back at forth as they both happily bounce questions and topics off of you one after the other.
• The most impressive part is how they never manage to talk over each other during all of this.
• "Marvelous! Thank you for coming, please stop by again soon! Perhaps for dinner next time?"
"Yes! You were wonderful! You should stop by again! We will look forward to it!"

Playing with two ideas here where yandere Ingo and Emmet's s/o manages to runaway and somehow lands in Guzma's care but also the idea Guzma as a bitter ex immediately going to physically throw down no pokemon battling leads me to think of their captive partner running away in a new place no idea what to do with their self so lost and confused and especially having no means to support their self after that forceful codependent torment the twins would’ve put them through and run into some skull grunts who take pity on them and lead them back to Guzma "Don't worry! Boss takes in everyone who's got nothing to their name or is a total outcast!" and low and behold he may not be Mr Nice Guy but he's got a kind heart and takes them in and they grow close enough to even open up about what happened and Guzma in his own brand of sweet says he ain't gonna ever let that happen again and next thing anyone knows the twins arrive and battle through the grunts' defenses enough Guzma has to go confront them from getting further if Plumeria had to even hold them off and after they explain who they are, why they're there and they aren't leaving without their darling they go ready to battle and Guzma just bursts out laughing "Nah nah nah after what I heard about you two you ain't getting through or out of this letting you pokemon fight for you square up" and Ingo and Emmet have to make a very careful choice surrounded by a bunch of hoodlums realizing they could've just been swinging this entire time and look ready to gang up on them
Guzma, without hesitation, would throw a fist to protect his partner, especially from some obsessive train weirdos. He loves you too much and hates the fact that you went through such abuses with them. When you came to him, so desperate to rely and lean on someone yet disgusted with yourself for what the twins had molded you into, the Team Skull Boss felt disgust. Whether it comes from parents, friends, strangers, or lovers, abuse is all the same. He has a rare patience with you. You are allowed to take your time and just relax around the Shady House. Hell, he will even let you stow away in his room with the other members overwhelm you. Plumeria even took a shine to you, offering you her rough support.
When you told him about what those Subway Bosses had done to you, he felt violent. Now, he wouldn't call himself a romantic or view himself as some gentle, caring lover, but last he recalled you don't cuff your partner to a bed without their consent for days on end. You especially don't try to wear their mentality down and shape it into what you want in a lover. Guzma wraps an arm around you and promises you that you would always be safe with him around. The grunts would never allow anyone to hurt you, having heard some rumours about what happened, and Plumeria threatened to knock one of their faces in should they ever happen to be in Po Town.
Well, life settled into a pleasant lull like it always would in Alola. You grew comfortable and felt secure in your life with Team Skull. That was never to be, of course, not with some Alolan fan of the Subway Bosses recognising you while you shopped at a Thrifty Megamart. A DM was sent to the twins alongside a secret candid of you. They were so relieved upon opening it. Alola. How did you get to Alola without either of them noticing? Not that it mattered? Emmet started packing as soon as he saw the message. Ingo tried to stop him, but even he knew that they needed to go soon. Elesa promised to help get you safely back Unova, so everything appeared covered.
They barged into the abandoned property in which you lived, absolutely decimating to sad attempts at pokemon teams that delinquent teenagers could make before entering the mansion to hid you away from them. Emmet ran off. Ingo quickly made pace and entered the building. Guzma stood waiting for them in the entryway, you tucked away in his bedroom. He had been altered that some strange men had been in the area demanding you. Their description matched what you gave of the twins so he knew. They stared at him.
"I am Emmet, and I ask you give us our darling!" the one in white asked, grin shifting into something menacing. "Yes, please make this easy for all of us and return them back to us. We don't know what led them to this destination, but we will work on it and keep them happy," the other spoke, his voice loud.
Guzma shook his head and cracked his knuckles. "Nah. I know what you did," the Team Skull Boss sneered at the twins, "I'm sure as hell not letting you hurt them like that again. They're just barely getting over it now." The grunts quickly picked up on what their boss's intentions were "If you think I'm gonna pokemon battle you, well, you best think again." Emmet snarled, but Ingo restrained him. They were surrounded by rowdy, angry teenagers who seemed to have taken a protective vow for you. His younger brother was capable of handling physical scuffles, but the sheer number of opponents wouldn't end well.
They needed to retreat.
Without you.

Fun summary train bandit ancestors, via server brainstorming power with jokes I couldn't have thought off on my own. A lot of fun buildup so im putting this under the cut!
Player has a quest that leads them to Nimbasa City Town, either one in the town itself or you've been told the train can get them to their destination sooner
On your way through town, some chatty passerby mention that the train they'll be taking has a fun theme! Can you guess what it is?
- [Fighting?] - [Fashion?] - [Food?]
No matter the answer, you only get a giggle and 'You'll see!' in response. One might assume the first one, because of the battle subway, buuuuut...
Now on the train, it's surprisingly quiet. Not entirely, mind you, because people are talking in excited stage whispers as they hurry to stash their bags aside and get into their seats. You can make out them talking about wanting to see "the masks" and being ready for "the show". A little odd, but you hurry to your seat as well to see what's going on
A bell rings, and enter a small, orange... rat? The entire car goes silent, aside from excited shushing, and the dedenne lights up the car with a Flash, poses with a Charm, and steals the hearts of everyone in the car with a Nuzzle.
In enter a person in a large coat and hat. They strike a pose with Dedenne, and a Dazzling Gleam blinds the audience.
Revealed is someone in uuuuh nice fashion clothes for wild west times, and the owner of the train station. (Their name's "Tessie, derivative of Tesla and is also Elesas ancestor" thanks junie)
So basically the Pokemon Amie system in on the go! Very epic, very cool, and probably very fun...
Until the train passes under a tunnel.
Darkness! Windows break! People scream! What on earth is going on? You grip one of your pokeballs protectively when the train exits the tunnel.
Standing there are two NEW people: Both wear bandanas and theatre styled masks (yknow, the smile and frown one? yeah i'm funny) and a funny hats; classic bandit look. They pose with their old unovan variant Arbok and Fearow (or somethin') and announce that-
"Howdy!" says the frowny one. "We'll be taking this 'ere train." says the smiley one. "Yup! Buh-bye!"
Arbok uses Smog. The two vanish from sight, and while some passengers seem panicked, most are... cheering?
You don't get time to think about this before Tessie reappears, frazzled, and asks if anyone could please help stop The Masks from taking over the train!
There's some chatter and, again, while some seem genuinely worried, others are talking like this isn't a big deal ("Yeah, they were strong last time. I think I'll pass, but maybe if I train some more I could try!" like what dude your shit's probably gonna get stolen). But congrats on being the main character cuz ofc the person to help is gonna be you.
So you head up the train cars and encounter other trainers (heh, train-) who want to run up ahead and fight the bandits. But they insist that they wanna go first, or that they're gonna be the one to beat em, or you're too young, etc reasons for them to challenge you to a fight first.
Now this functions somewhat like the Battle Subway, as your main items are stashed away, but you're healed after every encounter ("Aw, well, good luck up ahead!") until you finally reach the front car.
Th conductor is tied up in the car before, who you released, and now you're faced with.. something you weren't expecting
Both of the bandits are fawning over the train controls, the view, the speed, and practically speaking in tongue in train lingo. What the hell, you probably think before one of them notices you
"Howdy again, ma'am/sir!" "Lil' lambs shouldn't get to close to wolves." "Which means we have to fight!" "Mhm, and a fight we'll have." "Exciting! Now, hit stand back!" "Smile!" "AND LET THE SHOW BEGIN!"
Cool ok now uh it's late so I'ma end this with fun notes.
- Their names (thanks to junie again) are Indigo and Emile! Their hilarious cover names (thank to pixal) are Yee and Haw... or is it Haw and Yee? No clue, but very funny
- After you win, you'll get a request to further investigate bandits by some sheriff. The Masks, as they've also been called, don't SEEM to be actually taking anything or obstructing travel, but it's still hitching a free ride and causing a disturbance
- They always leave a calling card of sorts of which train they'll hijack next. This is because they're actually working with Tessie! It's a fun show and Tessie admires their train enthusiasm.
- By day, they work at the Nimbasa Town Saloon, owned by a big dude with rainbow hair who has three darling girls... who's monkeys keep ruining his curtains. He also has a husband who works out in Striaton Town cuz he has gay hair (the chat had fun with that idea)
- The player probably figures them out quickly upon meeting them in the Saloon (again, if you've been there before) but they're not upset! They just ask if you'd keep their little secret. If you agree, someone said they give you an honorary bandit outfit ("If you'd like to join us, sometime.") and you kinda get to do the reverse of being on the subway (instead, think champion seat defending from sun/moon. Challenger waves)
- If you disagree, that's mean so Indigo just goes "please." and if you disagree AGAIN, Emile also repeats "please". Disagree? Indigo asks now. Disagree? Emile asks again. Disagree-? You're stuck in an eternal loop. They know they'll wear you down.
- You can choose to report them, but Tessie will cut you off before you do. Rip, you're stuck
- I feel the twins' personalities would be roughly the same, mostly. Maybe more thoughts when it's not nearly midnight
uuuh thanks for reading this far, bYE
*uses smog and vanishes*

Pokémon Shining Pearl Review
Tumblr media
I'm actually quite pleased with the Sinnoh remakes. They are more like remasters than previous generations' remakes, but I think that's what I like about them.
I was initially disappointed like a lot of folks that it wasn't going to get the Sword and Shield treatment in terms of visual reimagining and world design, but the back-to-basics style is really refreshing. (And the chibi style has admittedly grown on me).
Tumblr media
Other than some general quality-of-life tweaks and optional content in the game getting a rework (Underground and Contests), this feels very much like how it originally felt to play Diamond and Pearl.
Tumblr media
Of course some people aren't going to like that, which I totally get. But with so many people in recent years harping on the new features introduced into Pokémon battles (Mega Evolution, Z-Powers, Dynamaxing), I think folks who dislike the "gimmicky" feeling of recent games might enjoy this one.
Tumblr media
Now art style all comes down to personal taste, so if you can't get past the chibi style you'll probably skip this one anyway.
Things I love:
Just being back in Sinnoh again 🥲
A return to the basic mechanics of Pokemon, a more simplified experience
Walking with Pokemon!!
The Underground is back and better than ever, I missed it so much
Contests and poffin making return!
HMs are all TMs now, and can be used in the field without your Pokemon needing to learn them! No more HM slaves!
You can access your Boxes anywhere
Ball Capsules have returned and there are more ways to access Stickers (AKA Seals) than before!
You can grow berries in the wild again
Pokétch is back!
The map now has a toggle to show where berries are growing, as well as three views of Honey Trees (trees, slathered trees, and shaking trees)
A variety of Pokémon can be found in the Grand Underground, especially helpful when looking for a fire-type that isn't Ponyta
Tumblr media
Things I don't like:
Pokétch doesn't have the two-way buttons like it did in Platinum, so you need to cycle through the whole thing if you want to go back to a previous app.
Pokemon Daycare is now Pokemon Nursery, can no longer level up idly
Dowsing Machine is still tied to the Pokétch and is very primitive and hard to use compared to recent games
Walking Pokemon don't have unique responses to locations and weather like they did in HG/SS.
Exp share is now a built-in mechanic that can't be turned off
Walking Pokemon sizes aren't to scale, so bigger Pokemon look weirdly small
Can't dress up your Pokémon for contests anymore
In-battle models for NPCs are kinda bland with weak facial expressions
Appearance changes are only based on specific outfits you purchase, cannot change appearance otherwise
Tumblr media
No doubt that nostalgia is coloring my perception of this game quite a bit. Pearl was the first Pokémon game I ever played when I was 10, so this feels very much like a homecoming to me.
Tumblr media
Taking that into account, I'm gonna give this game an 8.5/10 for me personally, and a 6.5/10 for the average player. Unless you're a diehard Sinnoh fan like me, this game might not be worth $60 to you. Mine was a gift, and I don't see anything wrong with pirating it if you wanna give it a try. (And if you'd like to see a more professional review from someone who admired the game the way I did, read Polygon's review)
Tumblr media
All in all, this game is far from perfect, but I love it anyway.

I’ll Go Where You Go (Forever Friends) - Part 1
Disclaimer: I apologize if the characters are terribly OOC. I will also be using English names in these little drabbles, just so you guys know. And there will be some cursing (mostly on Paul’s part) as well as a couple of other things throughout these drabbles, so just kinda think of the overall story as rated T.
And if you have an advice on how to refine the characters, please tell me! It’s been a long while since I’ve watched any of the anime or fanfic with Pokémon and so things are probably wrong in a lot of places.
However, I did manage to find a site that allows me to view all of the episodes, so I can look back at that for help on any episodes I’ll be using as a base in these drabbles.
Anyway, please enjoy the chapter!

Chapter 1: Judgment
Episode: Gettin’ Twiggy With It!
-----------------------------------------------------
Nope. I am most definitely not looking at myself. I am not a purple Turtwig right now, not in a million years. A purple and stone-brown stubby leg tapped the water, making it ripple, but the image didn’t change. The Turtwig continued to stare at its reflection in disbelief, Arceus, what did I do to deserve this? In fact, this Turtwig was once a human named Paul, of Veilstone City. The last thing he could remember before waking up beside this lake was training on Route 210 with his pokemon. But he didn’t remember anything else, for he had blacked out. And now he was a weirdly-colored Turtwig in an unfamiliar environment with no idea what happened or how he got here. Hell, he wasn’t even shiny colored! His leaves were a light lavender purple while much of his body was the same purple as his hair. His feet were a dark brown, stone-like color, but the dirt of his shell and the sapling on his head were still brown, at least. But he wouldn’t be able to blend in like this, no way. He would stand out for sure in a forest and, especially being a starter pokemon, people would come after him. He had no chance of survival, especially if someone caught him. So what was he supposed to do?
He lifted his head when he heard screaming. Spotting the balloon falling out of the sky, Paul legged it and dogged to the side, narrowly avoiding the balloon’s path. It consequently crashed into the lake. Paul only peeked his head out of the bushes when it was over. He recognized the balloon as Team Rocket’s from the couple of times he had seen it trailing Ash’s gang so many years ago, so what was it doing here? Paul decided not to stick around, just in case, and started running off. He stopped, however, when he heard a distressed call for help that sounded strangely familiar.
“Hey, is anybody out there? I kinda need a little help here!” Paul considered just leaving the voice alone, then sighed. Someone needed help and while he wasn’t the most helpful person, he could at least try doing something about their predicament. As long as they didn’t try to catch him, of course. The human-turned-pokemon ventured closer and peered out of the bushes. There, stuck in a cage, was a Pikachu. It knocked on the bars with an Iron Tail, only for no damage to occur. It sighed.
“Looks like I’m gonna be stuck here for a while. Hope Team Rocket doesn’t come and grab me again.” it sighed in a male voice. Paul glanced around. There was no way he was hearing this, right? He wasn’t understanding a pokemon, it had to be a person. Then again, he himself was now a pokemon, so…
“Hey.” Paul trotted closer, cautious, “You need some help?” Pikachu perked up.
“Yeah! Yeah, that would be great!” Pikachu patted the bars, “I can’t do anything from the inside, but do you think you could do something?”
“Maybe.” Paul grew nervous. He didn’t know how to call upon his attacks, but the Pikachu didn’t deserve to be captured like this. Paul closed his eyes and tried to imagine what he could do to call up a move. He had no idea what moves he even knew so this would be tricky, and they didn’t have a lot of time. He hoped he’d be able to choose the right thing. He opened his mouth and a surge of power flew through him and he bit down on the cage. The metal twisted beneath his beak and soon enough Pikachu was free.
“Thanks!” Pikachu cried, “Now let’s get out of here!” Paul didn’t argue. It was dangerous for him as much as it was for the electric-type, so he followed Pikachu into the forest. Hopefully they’d be able to avoid Team Rocket until they could get to some kind of safety.
-----------------------------------------------------
“My trainer’s probably looking for me,” Pikachu began as they walked through the brush, “so I can’t stay around long. Thanks for the help, though.”
“Sure.” Paul grunted. He eyed Pikachu. The pokemon seemed familiar.
“You’re pretty friendly for a wild pokemon.” Pikachu turned to him, “Do you have a trainer too?”
“...No.” Paul said. It was hard for him to keep himself composed enough to not reveal the truth.
“Did you…used to have one?” This time Pikachu was more cautious and slow with asking. Paul shook his head.
“No. I’ve never had a trainer.” Mostly because I was the trainer.
“Hm.” Pikachu hummed. It grew quiet between them again. From his new size, Paul was growing more depressed as he saw how little progress they were making, walking on foot. It probably didn’t bother most pokemon, but being a human, Paul knew the difference. They both perked up when they heard shouting. Pikachu grinned.
“That’s Ash!” He scampered forward, around the bend, and Paul stopped. So that’s why Pikachu was familiar. It was Ash’s pokemon. The leaves on his head twitched as he realized that this could be a good thing. He had heard tales from Reggie about Ash’s weird adventures. It was possible that Ash might have an idea of how to fix this, or at least know someone who could help. But how was Paul going to communicate that? Even if he couldn’t, traveling with a trainer would probably help him find a way to fix his predicament because staying here sure as hell wouldn’t. So Paul slowly walked around the bend, spotting Pikachu cheering in Ash’s arms with the healer guy and the blue-nette he used to travel with. But that was wrong. Ash didn’t wear that outfit anymore. He didn’t travel with those two anymore. What was going on? Then Pikachu spotted him and leapt out of Ash’s arms, going over to Paul.
“Hey! These are my friends, Ash, Dawn, and Brock.” Pikachu gestured to each trainer as he said their name, “They’re pretty cool, so they won’t hurt you, if you’re worried about that.”
“Wow.” said Dawn, pulling out her PokéDex, “What pokémon is that?”
“Looks like a Turtwig, but I’ve never seen one in those colors. Not even a shiny.” spoke Brock.
“Do you think it’s a shiny shiny? Like, it’s a shiny, but it’s even rarer than a regular shiny?” Ash asked. Brock shrugged.
“Who knows.” Paul grew annoyed by their conversation, like he wasn’t even involved.
“For your information,” he growled, stepping up to the trainers, “I’m actually a human, not a shiny pokémon. And you all know me!” He pointed at Ash, “I’ve kicked your ass so many times you’d need to have amnesia to forget!”
“Hey, little guy.” Ash crouched, “Sorry I can’t understand you, but are you asking for a battle?”
“No, I’m not.” Paul shook his head and sighed, “I’m just not going to get through to you like this.”
“Wait.” Pikachu’s ears twitched and he moved closer, “You used to be human? And we knew you?”
“Yeah, but it’s a bit of a story.” Paul shook his head again, “Don’t worry about-”
“Don’t finish that sentence.” Pikachu frowned, “If you need help, we’re here for you. Even if we don’t know who you are now, I’m sure something can be done.”
“Like what?” he asked. Pikachu shrugged.
“I dunno. But maybe if you told us the whole story, we might be able to help.” Paul considered it.
“...As long as no one catches me, I’ll share my story.”
“Good enough.” Pikachu nodded. Paul glanced warily at the trainers but when no one pulled out a PokéBall, he considered it a show of trust and so walked with them. More than ever was the walking difference pronounced as he told his story to Pikachu and the others, despite the fact the humans couldn’t understand him. He told Pikachu his past with Ash and who he used to be, after Ash went on to another adventure and left Sinnoh behind. Pikachu listened quietly, his only response his twitching ears, until Paul finished.
“Well, as outlandish as your story sounds,” Pikachu began, “I believe you. Mostly because I’ve encountered weirder. There’s just one thing I’ve got issue with, and that’s the fact that you used to know us.”
“What’s suspicious about it?” Paul demanded.
“I didn’t say anything about it being suspicious.” Pikachu held up his paws, placating, “The only thing I’m saying is that Ash has never been through Sinnoh before, and we haven’t met anyone like your description.”
“You haven’t?” Paul asked. He turned his head, thinking, “Then maybe-” He stopped himself.
“‘Maybe?’” Pikachu prodded.
“Look, it’s a longshot, but the legendaries might be involved.” Paul turned back, “The two legendaries of this region, Dialga and Palkia, they control time and space, respectively. It’s possible that I got sent back in time and was sent to a universe where I was a pokemon at the same time. But I don’t know why.”
“Mm.” Pikachu propped up his face on his paws, “Well—and this is your choice—I would say you should join Ash on his journey. He tends to encounter a lot of legendaries, so it’s more likely than not you’ll get answers if you travel with us. You don’t have to be captured, of course, and I’m sure Ash would be happy to help.”
“I’ve thought about that.” Paul admitted. He didn’t say more, running through things in his head again. Pikachu didn’t push and so Paul continued to walk with the trainers. All three were interested in why the Turtwig was still following them, but Paul was glad none of them had tried to catch him yet. Usually Dawn and Ash were pretty zealous, if he remembered correctly, so it was interesting that they hadn’t tried to catch him on-sight. But Paul knew he couldn’t put this off forever.
“If you promise to help me figure out how to become human again, I’ll travel with you and earn my keep.” Paul eyed the PokéBalls, “I’ll even let Ash catch me.”
“You sure? Ash doesn’t have to.”
“No, he doesn’t, but it’ll be safer for me.” Paul said, “Shiny pokémon are hot commodities, so catching one can override any sense other trainers might have.” Pikachu’s ears twitched.
“Yeah, I get that.” Pikachu crawled off of Ash, grabbing a spare PokéBall on the way down. He dropped it on the ground for Paul to choose, and Paul didn’t want to do any more thinking. He was going to get nowhere if he stayed in this forest. He pressed his nose to the ball and it was like a net enveloped him as he was dragged inside. He didn’t fight it, allowing the ball to click with his capture. But then he pushed himself out of confinement and shook himself.
“Just because I’m now Ash’s doesn’t mean that I’ll stay in the ball.” he replied to Pikachu’s raised eyebrow.
“Okay.” The electric-type shrugged.
“So you’re coming along?” Ash smiled as he picked up the PokéBall, “Welcome to the team, Turtwig.”

this is the ask giving u freedom to tell us all about curry (I think I know at least vaguely where ur gonna go with this tho lol)
I’m sure everyone knows what I’m referring to. It’s not exactly hidden knowledge.
But if you’d taken a history class past maybe middle school, you’ll probably know about England and their relationship with India. It’s been a while, so I might get some facts wrong.
India was colonized, is that the word?, by England for a while, and the communication between them was pretty frequent. I believe it was the 1800s that curry became a popular food item in England due to this, and after India was released from their grip, the dish just stayed. Curry was even spread to other parts of the world, like the Caribbean, due to Indian indentured servants during this time.
Well, I find it fascinating that they chose curry over a traditional England dish, though I can see why. England dishes, are like, what, pretzels on fire? Beans on toast? Even tea didn’t come from England at first, and that’s what most people remember it for. (It’s from Asia and it was an accident, in case you didn’t know. The spread of Asian culture around the world long before England became a powerhouse and things like the Silk Road are also extremely fascinating. I like history but only before the United States became a thing. It gets boring after that.)
And curry powder is an ingredient you can get for it in the game. Curry power, to my knowledge, didn’t even exist until the dish became popular in England. So that right there proves that the dish wasn’t grandfathered in as a modern traditional English dish, to me at least. And I am someone who LOVES food and the history and culture of it. I am obsessed with learning dishes from around the world. So to my knowledge, the recipes made in the game are very much not actually authentic Indian curry.
Much like how Asian food was subtly modified by Asian immigrant during the gold rushes in the US (once again, very fascinating and will change your view on American Asian restaurants. They added a lot of meat to their dishes to appeal to the miners in the area, real traditional dishes weren’t selling very well. This is also when jeans were invented. I live somewhere where the gold rushes are a big part of the local history), curry, over time, has been modified subtly to fit the tastes of the English, spices are way down, the ingredients used now are shoehorned in to replace the harder to access Indian ingredients, etc., things to make “authentic Indian restaurants” perform better. . This kind of process leads people to believe that it’s authentic, when, if you went to the place of origin, you’ll get something completely different. It’s happening right now in the US in regards to Central American cuisine. (this kind of thing happens a lot in history.)
Well the history of England and India’s relationship is a pretty big deal, so it makes sense that there’s a few nods to it in Galar.
I’m not one to speculate about new regions, and I know a lot of people think the next one will be based on Egypt, which would be cool, but I think an Indian inspired region is most likely next in line. Because of the strong influences, like the curry, and a few pokemon. And no one can even try to deny it, Copperajah is an Indian looking pokemon. Nothing like that would exist in an English environment naturally. Even just the fact that it’s an elephant. I think that Rose might be the pokemon version of Indian as well, since the devs decided to make Copperajah his ace. Or at least, he’s got roots in this speculative region (haha because his name is a plant).
The evidence for Egypt is there, and I think that would be cool, but they’re literally proving the existence of an Indian region right in front of us, even showing us that there’s history between them. If it’s not next, it’s very soon, I think.
Thank you for letting me rant. This is the kind of thing I love to do. And the curry thing was something I picked up on immediately and always wanted to talk about. Also, I’ve tried English curry, though unfortunately have not been able to make a curry with a real Indian recipe. It was good, but there’s all kinds of curry. I’m constantly widening my horizons, as you guys saw with my earlier posts about the ramen and spring rolls (and yes, I know that those weren’t authentic spring rolls I made. They came from an air fryer recipe book. Still tasted great though.)

A/N: Happy birthday to my best girl @sophrosinn!!!  This is my gift for you! This fic is done with the great help of the ever wonderful @senfleurs who edited this story and stayed with me for the past 24 hours while I cry, laugh, and panic writing this fic! This fic also ended up helping me ride out a massive writer’s block.
If Seokjin ever prides himself for something, it’s on his ability to tell how things will end the moment he sees them. He can tell when someone is about to fail their exam. He can sense a fight within a crowd before it even happens. He can stand at the end of the street and know the woman with the umbrella is about to break up with her boyfriend. And it always ends with Seokjin being right.
Seokjin’s thankful for this skill because he’s been able to learn when it’s the right time to pursue something or when it’s time to give up. If it weren’t for this ability, he would have not been able to accomplish his dream of having a book rental shop that actually sells. Seokjin just didn’t expect he would have to start thinking twice about this skill soon after his shop’s opening. All because of a Y/N L/N who appears in his life like a wild Pokemon.
From the start, Seokjin was already certain of one thing: Y/N is far from his type. For one, he didn’t even like having her as a customer.
“Hey, I think that girl’s been staring at our way for three hours now. Are you sure I’m not supposed to go help her out?”
Seokjin turns around to face his assistant and he hates that he’s able to see that girl from his peripheral. Seokjin shakes his head and turns back to the new books he’s been putting on the database, “I’m sure, Jungkook. Go back to work.”
“Are you really sure? I think she’s the type who’s too shy to ask for help and instead, hopes to send a telepathic message by burning holes on our heads.”
“I’m sure, Jungkook,” Seokjin repeats with a sigh. “Now why don’t you try working on that next book instead of stalling?”
            “I’m not stalling—”
“Hello. I want to borrow this book.”
Seokjin looks up from his counter. The girl stands in front of him, staring straight into his eyes as she pushes the book his way.
Natural bust enlargement with total mind power: How to use the other 90% of your mind to increase the size of your breasts by Donald Wilson.
Seokjin looks back at his work and sighs, “Jungkook, get this.”
Jungkook picks up the book. He must have been taken aback as he looks at Seokjin, confused.
Seokjin closes his eyes and waves him off. “Don’t even ask. Just do the usual.”
“Okay,” Jungkook says. “Uh, ma’am, please write your name here. Okay, so Ms. Y/N L/N, you’re gonna return this—wait, you’ve been borrowing this book for three weeks?
            “Yes. Why?”
“U-um, n-nothing. Just curious. It only has 141 pages and you’re not, um, finished yet?”
“Well, I want to learn more about how to mind control my breasts to make them bigger.”
            “Uhh…”
“Alright,” Seokjin stands up and nudges Jungkook away. “Ms. Y/N L/N, you’ll need to return this book five days from now, on March 23rd.” Seokjin slams his date stamp on the paper. “If you fail to return this book on time, we’ll have to charge you $1 for every day past the due date. And if the copy gets destroyed or lost, we’ll also have to charge you. Understood?”
            “Yep.”
            “Now, that will be $17.”
Y/N places the money on the counter and heads for the door. But she doesn’t leave without sending one last stare into Seokjin’s way.
Seokjin plops back down on his seat and clicks his tongue. “She didn’t read the book again.”
Jungkook rolls his chair next to him and asks “Aren’t you being judgmental? Maybe she’s just a slow reader.”
“No, she does not read it. The author didn’t mean literal mind control as she said. The book is about conditioning your mindset to a more positive view of your body image.”
Jungkook looks at him with his forehead scrunched, “Wait, you’ve read that book?”
Seokjin’s lips turn into a frown and he rolls his chair away from his assistant. “Don’t even ask.”
When Seokjin first met Y/N L/N, he was convinced that she’d be the type of customer he’d hate the most. The type that comes in, picks a book, stays for god knows long, and leaves without borrowing anything. She used to do this back when she first came to his shop within its first week of opening. She kept the tradition strong for a solid month, and Seokjin was convinced that some highschoolers noticed her behavior and attempted to use his shop as their new hangout spot. He’s glad his shop was getting packed as the days went on. It’s just a different story when a hoard of teens started flocking around his shop without renting anything and prevented actual renters from entering his shop. Seokjin had to put up “No loitering” and “Maximum of 3 hours stay” signs on his windows to end this money-ripping tactic once and for all.
That didn’t seem to stop Y/N, though, as she would still come to his shop to pick a book to read right in front of his face without ever renting it. This time, however, she made sure to follow the three hours maximum to avoid getting called out. This went on for another week until Seokjin decided he had to talk with her about this. That didn’t end as well as he had hoped, as Y/N just looked at him straight in the eye and left immediately after he got his last word out.
Seokjin remembers getting so embarrassed at how he unknowingly did a monologue to a single-person audience. He wasn’t left mulling over it for long as Y/N came back the next day and actually began to rent a book. She still stays the three hours max limit most of the days but she doesn’t let a week pass without renting a book. She also manages to lower her ‘miser’ type level to the ‘weird borrower’ level in Seokjin’s annoyance scale. Having a customer with a renting history surrounding the most ridiculous-sounding books is much better than having them rent none at all.
Albeit, that’s a bit of a stretch, too, as Seokjin finds out that Y/N’s not exactly the weird borrower type, but the weird borrower who comes again on time just to rent the same book for weeks. And she doesn’t even read them. Seokjin confirms it one night when Y/N came to his shop a minutes-breadth away from the closing time.
“Wait!” Y/N screams, running towards the shop.
Seokjin stops pulling down the metal gate to give her a glare, “I’m already closing, L/N. Come back tomorrow.”
“But I have to borrow something!”
          “Oh no you don’t—”
It’s too late though, as Y/N slips under Seokjin's elbow and pushes the unlocked glass door open.
Hearing his bell on the counter ring for consecutive times from the incessant taps of the infamous L/N, Seokjin knows he’s already lost the fight. He sighs as he makes his way back to the counter.
          “What do you want?”
          “This,” Y/N smiles.
The Beginner’s Guide to Sex in the Afterlife by David Staume.
Seokjin eyes her as he picks up the book, “This again? You’re still not done reading 164 pages after, what, two months?”
Y/N gulps as she clasps her hands in front of her, “Well, um, I still don’t get how people engage in sexual intercourse in the afterlife.”
Seokjin decides not to reply and continues to do his job.
“If they believe in a god. Or gods. Wouldn’t they worry about their god seeing them do...lewd stuff?”
Seokjin feels his right eye start to twitch.
“Unless...their god is a sex god?”
Seokjin closes the book louder than necessary. He pins Y/N with a glare. “Look, Y/N. This book is about sexual energy transcending material life and even moving to the astral world. Just like how people pass away. What made you think that this book was about literally having sex in the afterlife?”
Y/N looks at him with wide eyes, “You read the book?”
Seokjin scowls. “Don’t turn this on me. We’re talking about you. Why do you keep borrowing books you don’t even read?”
Y/N looks at him then back at her clasped hands. “You don’t have to know,” she mutters under her breath, taking Seokjin by shock when she slams the payment on the counter and leans over to stamp the renting slip with the due date herself.
Seokjin tries to call after her retreating figure by the door. “Wait, I didn’t even tell you the—”
“Yeah, $1 for each day after the due date and you’re gonna charge my card if I destroy the book,” Y/N yells over her shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’m gonna come back on time!”
Seokjin pales in his seat. Her announcement sounded like a death sentence.
He wishes he wasn’t so easily bothered at the slightest of things Y/N said. He wishes he didn’t spend too much time deciphering a way to stop her. Most of all, he wishes he didn’t become too intrigued by her to the point he’s started to care about what she’s actually doing.
And Seokjin hates it. He hates how he stresses himself reading the books Y/N borrows. He hates how he wastes his time trying to re-arrange the books in the shelves just so Y/N would start picking books with titles that actually made sense (which he learned is futile as Y/N had a penchant for finding weird books around his shop whenever and wherever). And, Seokjin hates how he basically studied her long enough to memorize her pattern. Long enough to realize that underneath all that weird borrowing behavior, Y/N just comes to his shop to stare at him. Moreover, Seokjin hates how he confirmed it with a friend.
“Y/N must be making you quite busy, no?” Jimin asks over a mug of coffee.
“You know her?” Seokjin asks in disbelief.
“Yeah,” Jimin nods, “I’m friends with her. I consulted their animation company for the ad I told you I was making for Books to Tell. She was the one who assisted me and we just clicked. Especially after I learned that she’s also friends with Namjoon.”
Seokjin’s eyes go wide, “She’s also friends with Namjoon?!”
“Yeah, they kinda knew each other in college. Why are you so shocked? You were in the same major as Namjoon. You could have seen her with him around uni.”
          “Uh, no, I didn’t.”
Jimin rubs his chin and shrugs, “Well, it’s a small world then. So, how is she? I actually told her to go visit your shop when you first opened.”
Seokjin chokes on his coffee and Jimin hurries to pat his back. “God, why are you like this today? Is something wrong—"
“How come you’re just telling me all of this now?!” Seokjin cuts his friend with a glare, making Jimin jolt in surprise.
“W-what? Was I supposed to tell you about this earlier?”
“Yes! Y/N’s been annoying me for four months now!”
“I…didn’t know about that,” Jimin steps back and sits in his chair. “I just told her to take a look at your shop and she said ‘okay.’ She didn’t say anything after that so I figured it left her mind. I didn’t know she was a regular in your shop. She just brought it up again yesterday when she told me how…” Jimin zips his lips and shrugs.
          “How what?”
          “...how she likes your face.”
Seokjin chokes again. This time on his own spit. He should have seen this coming. He was long aware that some of his renters only went into his shop to get a look at his face. Even if he had to suffer through the tedious cycle of rejecting their queries for his number and offers of coffee, some of them ended up as his regulars. Seokjin didn’t mind. Money is money after all. He just didn’t expect Y/N to be like them after all the months he spent trying to decode her actual intentions.
Seokjin tried to brush Y/N off just like he did with the previous renters. Although she hasn’t pulled off anything yet, Seokjin believes it’s better to set things straight before it happens. The sooner he ends this, the faster he’ll find his peace again.
Seokjin hired his neighbor, Jungkook, who’s been bugging him for a part-time job for so long and made him his assistant. He entrusted him with entertaining the customers so Seokjin wouldn’t have to deal with Y/N bugging him anymore. And like always, that plan goes down the drain because Y/N always, always ends up in front of Seokjin even when he’s countlessly told her to go to Jungkook.
Seokjin’s tired of stressing over her so he forces himself to ignore her and the ridiculous books she borrows. But even that proves to be hard when Y/N hasn’t even done anything untoward but to stare at him from time to time. And give him a headache with the books she borrows like The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America by Julian Montague, 50 Sad Chairs by Bill Keaggu, and Collectible Spoons of the Third Reich by James Yannes. For after all the progress he thought he’s put in, Seokjin still finds himself reading these books all because of a goddamn curiosity he couldn’t put down.
It becomes harder when Namjoon and his friends pick up Seokjin’s weird setup with Y/N. And mutual friends being the annoying mutual friends they are, Namjoon and the gang begins to invite him and Y/N to hangout.
“Why is she here?” Seokjin mutters to Namjoon the moment he sees their table.
          “Who?”
          “You know who.”
“Oh, Y/N,” Namjoon prolongs the syllable as if her name is the most amazing thing ever. Seokjin grimaces. “Why? You got a problem with her?”
“No,” Seokjin instantly denies. “I’m just asking why you invited her. It used to be just us for so long.”
“Yeah, it’s always been just us that’s why it became boring.”
          “Boring?”
“Yeah, I’m getting tired of your face,” Namjoon chuckles, stepping ahead of Seokjin. “Besides, what’s wrong with adding a new friend? Y/N is cool.”
Oh hell yeah, Y/N is cool. She beams at Seokjin like she always does as if their legs weren’t just casually touching after their friends made it a point to choose a cramped barbecue restaurant and sit the two of them next to each other.
“So Seokjin, I heard you and Y/N are getting close,” Namjoon starts and Hoseok hoots in support.
Jimin, being as annoying as ever decides to ride in too. “Yeah, why don’t you tell us how you met.”
“I was doing my business and Y/N just rented a book. That is all,” Seokjin says dismissively as he grabs his shot glass and downs the gin in one go.
“Are you sure, that’s all, Seokjin?” Rose leans forward, grinning, “Maybe you’re hiding something from us.”
          “I’m not—”
“He’s not hiding anything. That’s true.”
The table pauses as all eyes dart to Y/N. A wave of self-consciousness washes over her and she directs her focus back on her clasped hands on the table, “S-Seokjin’s right. I just rent books from him.”
Seokjin glances at Y/N then back at his drink. It’s the first time she actually addressed him that night after engaging animatedly with Namjoon, Jimin, and Rose for the past hour. The table nods slowly and Seokjin guesses they’re already about to drop the subject. Seokjin’s lips tug in a small smile. Maybe tonight’s not gonna go as bad as he initially thought.
However, Jungkook,  being the ever-living oblivious fuck that he, must’ve not gotten the memo, decides to stir up the subject again.
“No, I don’t think so. Seokjin and Y/N do have something going on. I catch Y/N constantly looking his way and Seokjin for some reason, knows every single weird-ass book Y/N borrows.”
Seokjin’s lips part in shock. Jeon Jungkook did not just give him away like that. “Of course, I’ll know those books. I bought them to rent them to people. That’s my business!”
Jungkook blinks. “But you know every single detail about them.”
The table goes silent. It doesn’t last very long, though, as Rose and Jimin break into simultaneous laughter while Namjoon repeatedly slaps his thigh. Hoseok shoots, “Oh my god, you must’ve kept on buying books with weird titles just to keep Y/N borrowing!”
“What? I did not!” Seokjin yells but his voice is lost in the sea of laughter and teasing. Seeing as there’s no hope in making his friends stop anytime soon, Seokjin decides to lean on his seat and cross his arms in silence. His friends are going to jump onto another topic eventually. Looking at his empty plate, his eyes glance at the person who’s equally quiet next to him.
Y/N is busy fiddling with the seams of her jacket. She looks up from time to time to their friends to wave off their playful jibes at her with a laugh.
Seokjin feels an annoyance prick on his skin. His friends invited him over just to tease him. Seokjin is sure it’s only him because he’s the only one who’s gotten frustrated over this debacle while Y/N sits chill beside him. Y/N doesn’t even break a sweat laughing with the others as if she hasn’t been bothering him for months now. Seokjin swears he’s gonna decline the next time his friends invite him again. Or at least try to, because he’s gullible to their promises of “Hey, they’re giving out free drinks. Free is free!”
It’s the same as that one fateful night.
Seokjin stops in his tracks and grabs Hoseok by the shoulder. “Why is she here again?”
            “Who?”
            “Y/N.”
Hoseok raises a brow, “Why do you keep asking this question when you already know the answer?”
“I don’t,” Seokjin shakes his head. “I don’t know why you keep inviting her whenever I decide to join you guys.”
“Oh, don’t be such a grump. Y/N’s our friend, too.”
Feeling Seokjin still in his spot, Hoseok turns around and sighs, “Hey, we only see each other ‘bout twice a month, you know. Let’s have some fun, okay?”
Seokjin should have known Hoseok’s definition of ‘fun’ is far from his as he sits across Y/N in the restaurant. All their friends out of sight.
Hoseok started a game after dinner where everyone had to draw a piece of paper from the cup being passed around. The partners would then have to leave together in a form of a friendly date. It’s similar to seven minutes in heaven but messed up because instead of seven minutes together, they had to spend the rest of the night with the person they’ll end up picking.
Seokjin should have known that this was all planned when Namjoon oh so coincidentally pulled Rose, who everyone knows he’s been secretly crushing on. Meanwhile, Hoseok, Jimin, and Jungkook obviously ended up drawing each other’s name just to purposely get Namjoon and Rose together. And well…him and Y/N together. Seokjin sighs as he stands up. He just had to get this done and over as quickly as he possibly could.
          “Look, Y/N—”
“I know a good place near here.”
Seokjin halts. He looks at the girl who’s already looking up at him with wide eyes. "There's a cafe down the block and I heard it's really nice."
"Uhh, that sounds amazing. I guess. Look, Y/N-"
"They let you play with board games and borrow books, too."
Seokjin scratches his head, "Uhh, I don't know about that, Y/N. I haven't had the time to check them out yet...I mean...if those cafes are good...or bad," Seokjin internally cringes at his words. Making believable excuses was never really his forte.
"Oh, it's good!" Y/N smiles, “I’ve tried it before and I had a really good time."
          "Uhh-"
"It's really good. You can trust me on this.”
“No, I can’t,” Seokjin says before he could think about it and he immediately feels the guilt pang in his heart when he sees Y/N’s eyes drop to her feet
“That’s…okay. I'm sorry. I just wanted to make up for the days, and uh, nights I probably made you uncomfortable. I thought, maybe you'd enjoy having a few drinks at the cafe since I always see you with a to-go cup on your counter."
Seokjin looks at her with surprise written on his face and Y/N flushes. "Sorry. I tend to observe... stuff. I’m sorry," she repeats again, voice dripping with remorse.
Seokjin bites his lip. He didn’t mean to make her sad. He just wants to…run away from her. The reason? Well…Seokjin doesn’t exactly know why. Maybe it had to do with the feeling that nagged at him since the night started. The feeling that something may happen tonight that he wouldn’t like. He tends to prioritize his disposition because more often than not, his gut feeling has saved him countless times from unnecessary drama and unpleasantries. But for tonight, Seokjin decides to shake them off. It wouldn’t hurt to take up Y/N’s offer, right? It’s just some coffee.
             “Okay. Um, I forgive you.”
“You do?” Y/N perks up, lips curving up again.
Seokjin looks away, “Yeah. I think I’m being difficult, too. I’m sorry if I also made you uncomfortable.”
Y/N waves her hands, “Oh no, don’t apologize. You don’t make me uncomfortable. Far from it, actually.”
Seokjin doesn’t know what to say to that so he clears his throat, “Okay, so...let’s go to the cafe?”
             “Sure,” Y/N grins.
It feels weird to walk side by side with Y/N when he’s gotten used to having a counter between them. It’s even weirder that he actually enjoyed their time together inside the cafe. The cakes were delicious, the coffee was amazing, and the books and board games were a wonderful addition. Seokjin didn’t know he'd actually have fun playing scrabble against Y/N.
             “I can’t believe I lost again!”
Seokjin chuckles at her, “That’s because you kept using short words.”
Well, it really is fun when he’s winning.
Y/N pushes the game to the side, “I don’t want to play scrabble anymore.”
“That’s okay,” Seokjin chuckles, “I can find another game I’m sure to win again.”
The two of them fall in a comfortable silence. It’s the first time Seokjin felt this way around Y/N. For all the months she came to his shop, he did nothing but be forever on his toes around her.
“You know...I really like your face.”
Or maybe not. Seokjin tenses up in his seat.
Y/N puts her hands up, “Oh, I didn’t mean it like, in a bad way. I mean, I like your face. It’s so...expressive.”
Seokjin looks at her, confused. Expressive?
“You’ve asked me before about why I keep on borrowing books I don’t even read and I told you that you didn’t have to know. It seems right to tell you the reason behind it now..” Y/N fiddles with her hands, “Since you’re now paying attention to me.”
Seokjin knows this isn’t true but he doesn’t say anything.
“You see...I’ve been fumbling around my work for so long. Well, it’s more like a personal project for now. I’ve been meaning to pitch in the idea of a lighthearted romcom series to my department. I just wanted to have a solid draft first so I could at least let them see my vision. I’m pretty bad with words. I need things to be spelled out completely and I don’t think I can do it with this one so I will have to get the drawings complete instead,” Y/N scratches her head. “I want this pitch to have a solid chance. I’ve been working on it for almost three years now. I just can’t seem to finish it because I didn’t know what to do with my lead male. Until I heard about you from Jimin.”
             “Me?” Seokjin points to himself.
“Yeah. You have this look in your face that just exudes…greatness. It’s like you’re telling me...‘I’m a star.’”
             “Huh?”
“What I mean is, your expressions are perfect for a leading guy!” Y/N squeals, “Oh my god, I just found the right words.”
Seokjin laughs nervously, “Y/N, just so you know, you’re not making any sense right now.”
Y/N cautiously fixes herself again, “Uh, what I’m trying to say is, you have this aesthetic around you that’s just perfect for the male lead I am envisioning. It’s easy for you to make various expressions that stretch from annoyance to glee and beyond. I’m really surprised at how well you could do that. If you think about it, you can be an actor if you’d like. You’re even handsome.”
Seokjin flushes at the sudden compliment.
Y/N continues, “And that’s that. You became my muse and I kept visiting for inspiration because I obviously couldn’t take pictures without your permission. That’s illegal.”
Seokjin should be appalled. He’s never met a person before who said such...things aloud in the open as if they’re just talking about the weather. But here he is, looking at Y/N, and feeling at peace. Maybe it had to do with him finally getting the answers he’s been looking for for months.
“Well, you should have just told me from the start. I wouldn’t have been...too weirded out by you.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry. My bad,” Y/N softly laughs.
“I thought you’re purposely messing with me with the way you pick the weirdest titles from my shop.”
Y/N awkwardly shrugs, “Yeah, sorry ‘bout that.”
Seokjin chuckles but halts. Why does Y/N bother to pick the weirdest titles when she can just pick from the hundreds of normal-looking books he has? She won’t even read them anyway.
Seokjin clears his throat, “Um, Y/N, why do you always borrow the weird-looking titles?”
Y/N’s eyes grow wide. She darts her eyes at her lap, “Uhh, I just, uh, do.”
Seokjin isn’t convinced. No one spends time finding the weirdest of books in a shop ‘just because they do.’ Seokjin feels the familiar itch of his curiosity. He needs to know why. Only then will he probably stop finding a pattern in the ridiculous-titled books Y/N borrows.
“Okay, you can keep doing your...inspiration thing.”
             “What?”
“I’m not angry about what you said. You don’t have to worry. Everyone has their own inspiration. You can keep coming to my shop. After all, you’re my regular renter.”
Y/N’s smile immediately grows into a grin, “Okay. Thank you, Seokjin.”
Seokjin feels his chest lighten with satisfaction. But at the same time, he can’t deny the feeling that he’s probably signed himself up to something he’s unprepared for. He presses his lips together. His gut feeling was right. He doesn’t like this night.
Seokjin confirms this when tomorrow comes as well as the following days. Y/N comes in like usual in the afternoon, maxes her three hours, and finds a book with a weird title to rent. Nothing had changed much except now, Seokjin had to see her stare at him openly and not behind a book, as she intermittently looked towards his counter then back to her sketchpad. He regrets having ever welcomed Y/N because now he thinks he’s the one who’s weird for feeling his heart pound in delight whenever Y/N looks at him.
Seokjin hates what he’s become. He hates how he simultaneously dislikes and likes Y/N’s presence in his shop. He likes how Y/N has begun using her three hours to tell him another story from work. He likes how she makes him laugh even when her jokes don’t make any sense. He likes how easy it is for him to tell her his own stories—his dreams, his fears, his past relationships. He could even say the most ridiculous musings he ever had without feeling ashamed of it because Y/N understands. But at the same time, he can’t help but dislike how he’s started to constantly wait for her return in his shop. He hates how he instantly feels so down when he realizes Y/N won’t be able to make it to his shop. He dislikes how he finds himself oversharing stuff without feeling any guilt when all his life, he made it sure not to say to let people know too much. The more they know, the easier it is for them to inflict hurt. Because they know what part is gonna hurt the most. And so, Seokjin tells Y/N everything other than the things he feels about her. The things he really wishes to say.
All his life, Seokjin has always anticipated seeing how things will end up. Because he knows he’s right. And he always almost is. He knows that this relationship he has with Y/N is purely transactional. Y/N just kept coming because she needs someone who’ll give her inspiration. Seokjin knows if he ever lets his feelings out, he’ll only end up breaking his own heart. He knows how this will end and yet he can’t but wish he isn’t always right. Now, he sits fearfully in anticipation of the day Y/N stops her visits as soon as she finishes what she started coming to his shop for.
Turns out, Seokjin didn’t have to wait very long. Because on one Thursday morning, he finds a copy of Y/N's final draft on his counter and no presence of the girl. Y/N doesn't appear during the following week. Or the week after that.
"What do I do?" Seokjin mumbles. He covers his face with his hands as he slumps on Jimin’s dining table. The rain thundering outside fits his current mood so well. Seokjin hates it.
"Well, you shouldn't have been so hostile to her from the start," Jimin says with crossed arms.
"Don't you think I already know that? I've already played through all the different things that could’ve happened if I didn't pick on her borrowing habit."
"It's not that," Namjoon says. "We meant how you usually react when we invite her over to our hangouts."
"Yeah, you always look so stiff next to Y/N even after we set you guys up on a date," Jungkook remarks. "Anyone would have looked at you and would’ve commented on how uncomfortable you looked right next to her."
It's true. He felt uncomfortable whenever he sat beside Y/N. In his defense, it no longer felt like the uncomfort he felt when they had first met. This feeling of uncomfort felt different, it’s brought by the heat that fills his body when Y/N's leg brushes against his.
And it didn't help that earlier that day, Y/N pulled quite a stunt on him.
"Hey, you have something on your hair," Y/N points at his head. But before he could pick it up on his own, Y/N had already leaned over the counter and picked it away for him. She came so close that Seokjin could clearly see how long her lashes actually were and how pink and soft her lips looked. He feels his Adam's apple bob up and down.
"There," she smiles, "All handsome again."
Seokjin feels heat rush to his ears as he looks away.
Seokjin looks at Jungkook, “Well, I can’t control how I feel. You know how bad I act when I’m not okay.”
“So you’re not okay being by her side in public but you’re okay when you guys are alone?” Jungkook eyes him, “Don’t you dare deny it because I saw you guys getting chummy across the counter.
Seokjin gulps. He knows what Jungkook is talking about. He didn’t know where and when but somewhere along the way, he and Y/N started to blur any nuance of personal space around each other. He just found it natural to tuck her hair behind her ear when it falls on her face as she draws. He found it natural to let his fingers brush on Y/N’s own as he grabs a book from the upper shelf for her.
“You must have been watching too many romantic movies.”
          “Why?”
“You’re really acting like a main lead now. You’re making me feel as if I’m the female lead.”
Seokjin freezes and tears his eyes away from Y/N. He pulls the book and unceremoniously pushes it to her. “Here’s your book,” he mutters before walking back to his counter.
“Hey, don’t just leave me here!”
And Seokjin found it natural to let his actions do the talking for him instead.
“Do you trust me?” Y/N asks as she looks up at him. “I already made you look good on paper. What more if we go to this amusement park together?”
“I don’t trust you,” Seokjin says but his hand grips on hers tighter.
“Of course, I’d feel better when we’re alone,” Seokjin grunts as he grabs his coffee, “Who would want to see two people touching each other in public? Not to say people who engage in PDA too many times will eventually break up since the pressure from the public-”
“We’re not telling you to engage in PDA,” Namjoon cuts him. “What we’re trying to say is that, why do you refuse to act on your feelings?
“Yeah,” Jimin seconds, “It’s obvious that you like her. You wouldn’t keep on buying weird books and reading what Y/N borrows just to check if Y/N will indeed read it. You wouldn’t keep asking me if she’s alright at work whenever she doesn’t show up or leave you any messages under the pretense of ‘ensuring she wouldn’t come to your shop to disturb you’. You keep asking me because you’re worried about her. You keep buying her weird books because you’re happy seeing her smile happily about them. You keep welcoming Y/N into the shop even when you hate getting distracted because you like her!. It’s so obvious! Why can’t you say it?!”
“Because I know how this thing between us will end. What we have is purely temporary. Y/N came in to find a muse and that’s that. She comes to my rental shop just to finish her project. Y/N never intended to stay long, and I made sure she didn’t. I knew she was leaving the moment she finished. If I said I liked her then, it would’ve only made us awkward and I would’ve ended up absolutely miserable.”
“Well, she already did leave,” Namjoon deadpans.
“And you didn’t say anything but you’re still miserable,” Jungkook says.
Seokjin closes his eyes and nods. He’s fully aware that Y/N is gone, but it’s not like he can act like nothing happened. It was his fault, after all. “Yeah, I know now. I’m stupid. I’ll just have to deal with it on my own and move on.”
“You don’t have to deal with it on your own.”
Seokjin jolts at the familiar voice. He turns around and finds the very person he’s been missing for weeks. Y/N. With the deep bags under her eyes and her hair all mussed up, she looks far from Seokjin’s type. But she’s still the most beautiful person he’s ever seen in his life.
“Okay, I guess this is our cue to go.”
Seokjin whips his head to Jimin, his eyes wide, “You planned this?”
“Obviously. It looks like you still needed a little push after the last stunt we pulled. Jungkook, stand up from your goddamn seat.”
Y/N stays in her spot until their three friends leave them alone. Seokjin looks at his feet as shame and self-consciousness mingle in an unsettling mix in his stomach. Y/N is here and he must look like the stupidest idiot in the world right now.
“Did you mean it when you said you liked me?
          “Yes,” Seokjin sighs.
“Then why didn’t you say so from the start?” Y/N says in a soft voice. “You kept blocking my advances. I was trying to let you know that I liked you, too.”
“You like me, too?” Seokjin asks, shocked and confused.
“Of course! Did you really think I just picked weird books out for fun? Okay, I did have a lot of fun picking them — but the point is, I did all of them to get your attention!!! For god’s sake, did you think I sat through your lecture on divine afterlife intercourse “just because”? No!! Okay,” Y/N closes her eyes, I first went to your shop for inspiration. But that all changes when I started liking you. You’re just so hardworking and smart and even if you’re grumpy on bad days, you actually care so much. I just want to stand out at least a bit so you could see me, too. And just when I thought I had finally succeeded when you agreed to let me draw your face, you started giving me mixed signals. You’d come near me and touch my hand and would let it go right when I started to talk about it. You’d act so affectionate then say the exact opposite. Do you know how bad it hurts when I ask you if you’d trust me—even when I sound like I’m joking—and all you’d ever answer is ‘no’?”
“I thought...you already knew the answer.”
“No, I don’t, Seokjin. I told you I’m bad with words. I need things to be spelled out. I-”
“Y/N, I trust you. I thought you figured it out already when I told you everything about my life.” Seokjin looks at his hand, “But it turns out it wasn’t enough. I’m sorry we had to take the long route like this because I couldn’t say what I really wanted.
          “And what is it?”
          “You.”
Y/N flushes at his sudden confession. The surprise in her eyes morphs into a satisfied glint as Y/N’s lips curve into a soft smile. “It’s okay. You have me now,” She steps into his arms and Seokjin immediately engulfs her in his embrace. For the very first time in his life, he doesn’t anticipate anything. His mind doesn’t conjure any endings. All he could think of is how he wants to prolong this moment as much as he can. Seokjin smiles into her neck as he tightens her hold on her. This must be what it feels like to be finally at peace.
“So you like me now, huh?” he feels Y/N murmur at his chest.
          “Yeah.”
          “And you trust me now?”
          “2000%” Seokjin grins.
“Good. I’ve been wanting to try out something that I read.”
“Oh, so you’ve finally read something,” Seokjin chuckles by her ear.
Y/N giggles, “Yeah. I wanted to do it right this time for this book.”
          “What book?”
          “Edward Jaye’s The Cookie Sutra.”
          “What?”
          “Cookies and Kama Sutra.”
A/N pt. 2: Hello my dear @sophrosinn. Happy birthday! First of all, I love you. I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH. AND MY LOVE FOR YOU CANNOT BE CAPTURED ENOUGH BY THESE WORDS. You’ve been with me for four years of my life and I couldn’t believe it’s just four years when it feels like I’ve been living my whole life with you. Yeah, you made a super large mark in my life and I couldn’t imagine what my life would have been if I didn’t meet you. You’ve helped me out in so many difficult times of my life. Through all the shits and slumps I had in school, in my family, and in my writing journey, you’ve stayed with me throughout all of those things. Gave me the advices I needed to hear. You’re still here, helping me heal from the pain I’ve suffered and still suffering. You’ve always been a rock of support in my life, @sophrosinn, and I wouldn’t have come this far if it weren’t you. When I look at you, I still wonder how life managed to let me meet such an astoundingly wonderful person like you are. These days have been tough but I hope you know you don’t have to suffer through it alone. I and @senfleurs will always be here to hear you rant, listen to your basog moments, and help you lighten your load as much as we can. Whenever life brings you down, I hope you always remember I will be here for you to give you an ear that will listen to you, to give you a shoulder you could cry on. I want to also be your rock of support you could always go to without hesitation just like you’ve always been for me. So Happy happy birthday my dear best girl! You have gotten a year older today but don’t worry, you’re not gonna be alone. I and @senfleurs will be by your side as we grow old with you! Here’s to more amazing years! I love you!

I just changed it up a bit bc my mind went blank when I first drafted the “we’re married” concept. Hope you like it, anyway! I tried writing both your serious and quirky sides through Seokjin and the OC!
P.P.S. I’m sorry I couldn’t get this fic out much earlier. My writing slump is still as bad as it can be but oof, I managed to get it out just before August 11 ends! I hope the wordcount and the feels and laughs make up for that   > u <

Uh I don't really know where else to go for this and I know you answer asks like this a lot and you be always got something good to say so maybe you can help me? I'm trying to sort through lots of feelings on my own since I can't get a gender therapist (my mother actually recommend medicalized conversion therapy instead when I tried to come out to her so, so much for her loving her kids no matter what, right? I hope she comes around but I'm not in a position to apply force to our relationship right now)
And although I'm not like 100% male and I'm more close to enby (but with he/him pronouns) it's still an odd concept to know that people will view me one way based on exactly how I present and I'm not allowed to talk about it without it being "whining" or nonsense complaining... Because if I'm a man, or closely enough one to be precieved as one, then what right do I have to complain? I'm sure you've seen the type of conversations
I can do a lot of things now that I can't do if I'm precieved as male? Like for example women can go to the park and eat lunch and nobody bats an eye but if I a guy does it it's weird because there's kids around, ya know? It's this weird double edge sword that if I decide to go on T I'm both gaining and losing privilege and people won't take that into consideration, because people are still hung up on viewing oppression like Pokemon stats
Also I don't necessarily hate men or think men are evil or anything, but I know other people do that and other people are scared of men- and like I get it if I see some weird dude loitering around I'm locking the car too, but I don't want to be the reason a woman has to cross the street? Or the reason someone has to worry about going home late?
And don't get me wrong, I know I'm a good person, but I know as well other people don't know that... I know what checking over your shoulder on a walk is like, and I don't want to have to be the reason someone does that?
So it leaves me feeling like not only is there so much to learn, but also people are just going to hate me for who I am going to become if I go through medical transition? Like I get it, not everyone is going to like me, but I don't want people to be afraid of me?
But also if I do go on T I have absolutely 0 basis for what I might look like or how it will change me and that's a scary aspect as well, because I can think of a lot of guys I'd be happy to look like or whatever but I can think of a lot more I would be unhappy to look like and you can't pick and choose genetic reactions.. And I know the idea is all about becoming more "you" rather than the perfect version of yourself you wish you could be, but it's still the point... Is it better to live with the familiar hurt of this body and my dislikes? Or should I try essentially a new one and run the risk of hating it more in some ways?
There's like 2 central ideas here, and the one idea has a lot of little ideas coming off of it, but I know at least the first issue I presented you'll understand... The second one is a little more up in the air since appearance is such a personal thing, but I think it's not an unheard of concept... So hopefully all of that makes sense and maybe you've got some decent advice or can just help me make a little more sense to myself?
Oh boy, you’re so valid. A lot of this is very familiar, and I know you’re not alone in it at all.
I’m gonna try to organize some points here, cause I think you brought up a lot of things.
“I don’t know if I want to be perceived as a man, cause enby”
You’re right that folks are likely going to see you as a man after a certain point. It’s hard to find a middle ground where you ping as neither to the average cis person, and it’s hard to control that enough for it to be consistent.
My advice, honestly, is to make choices more based on your comfort than the highly subjective and ever-shifting concept of “passing”. I know it sucks to be perceived as something you aren’t, but your wants are probably the best starting point in the decision-making process.
“I’m afraid I won’t be able to do the things I can do now if I’m perceived as a man”
This is true of transitioning in general, tbh! You will also likely be able to do things you couldn’t do before; I know folks have talked about feeling safer walking around at night, and being listened to more often by other men, once they begin to pass as men.
I also struggle with this, as a future teacher; the treatment of men in childcare is very, very different, and very stigmatized compared to female counterparts. But that, to me, is worth it. I’m willing to deal with the problems other people place on me, if it means I get to finally feel at home in my own body.
“I’m afraid of causing women distress by existing near them as a man”
Look, this is frankly just not your responsibility. Looking like a man is not an act of misogyny. Looking like a man does not make you “the reason” women do or feel anything. Those reactions are their own, and you are not responsible for mitigating them- particularly if that mitigation involves you, a trans person, forgoing transition for other people’s comfort.
You are responsible for trying to be a good person, making good decisions, and for not being misogynistic. Not the assumptions women make about you based on your appearance.
“I’m afraid I might not like how I look after I transition”
I know I agonized a lot over this, certain that I would ultimately dislike how I looked if it wasn’t up to a certain standard. I imagined my post-transition self as a stranger; someone I’d have to meet and grow to accept as myself. Even scarier was that I couldn’t opt out if I didn’t like the stranger- I’d be stuck with him forever after I made that one big decision.
But... it’s not really like that, in practice. I’m me, every single step of the way, and I have only ever felt more and more like myself as I go through this process. I feel like pre-transition me was the stranger, and the person I’m becoming now is more familiar to me than anyone I’ve ever been before.
I know that’s not an easy thing to understand or relate to from a pre-transition standpoint, but what I want you to understand is this: if you’re making this decision for the right reasons, you’re gonna be okay. If you’re pursuing your own happiness, comfort in your body, the person you want to be and the life you want to live, you’re gonna be okay.
And if you realize it was a mistake, at some point, you can undo that decision again. It’s fluid; you’re not gonna be trapped in one body forever. Transition is about agency. Trust yourself now to know what you want, and trust your future self to keep knowing what you want.

any headcanons on how The Boys™ got together?
i think their relationship officially started when they were like. in their twenties
they both as teenagers constantly have something going on in their mind but... then green gets accepted to an university in kalos and leaves there when hes 18. now at the moment his focus is on studying again. red has a bit of a pensive face but takes it well and helps him pack. they have a sort of awkward hug-hug-pat-pat with pensive grins on their faces.
so long story short he has many really cringe and fail dating attempts with kalosian men and develops a paris syndrome of some kind LMAO. few of those damn frenchmen still try to get in touch w him even when he has a husband and kids.
bleh, at least they helped him take nice well composed photos of him looking all fashionable in lumiose city, which he sends to red. red still sends back shitty blurry selfies and pictures of pikachu. green just laughs, thats such a red thing to do. but he can talk about anything with red. he realizes how nice those afternoons at a cafe just texting him abt new discoveries are as well. nice and cozy.. green is just like “man i sure am glad to have such a good best pal hahahaha”
green returns to kanto looking completely jetlagged with godawful looking hair that sticks from everywhere and hes groaning abt something. but for red, its the most amazing sight in the world. thats his bff for sure!!
after all that pokemon france stuff he and red go for an afternoon walk on route one and sit on a grassy hill w a view to pallet town. red brings up all the dumb shit he and green did as small children (oh now HES gonna be the smug one??? green thinks but is also p amused by it) and embarrasses green who is lightly punching him in the arm, which then turns into him wrapping his arms around red while lightly shaking him. they lose their balance and are now lying on the ground. green buries his head under red's chin. red brushes his hair. and thats when things are clear, the two are in love whoaaah wtf!!!
suddenly green decides to be confident. "is tomorrow sunday? oh yeah, im free on sundays. date then with my rival, eh?" he asks. red laughs affirmatively and they kis epic style
ok yeah last part really needs polishing lol but thats my basic idea of it at least :]

Chapter 10 of A Bundle of Yarrow is now up over on AO3! or you can read the latest chapter below the cut. thanks to all of you who follow me on here and let me know you’re still craving some Milo time, it helped motivate me to write some more. maybe it’s not obvious but, knowing there are people out there who appreciate my writing makes me want to write! either way, this is a shorter transition chapter, building up for some drama come Turffield. as always, i love all the feedback <3
Galar Mine
“I want this one!”
“And I get this one over here!”
Leon and Milo stood crossing their arms of their chests as you and Sonia hovered around shining crystals emerging from the cave walls. The mines glittered reflecting the light of lanterns, immediately mesmerizing you.
“Everything here is the property of Marco Cosmos.” Leon says stiffly, as if practiced. “Just one of those jewels costs my entire year of pay.”
“But look at this!” You point to a green one and aim puppy eyes at Milo while Sonia bats her eyelashes at Leon. “Wouldn’t this be beautiful on a ring?”
Milo looks strangely nervous. “We got little influence in this stuff! The League is just one part of Marco Cosmos, ‘n we’re employees of it. I’d be shocked if they even gave us a discount.”
The both of you pout and follow the boys and Charizard walking further into the cave. The air was dry and cool, every little sound echoing in the rocky tunnels. It was surprisingly well-lit for a cave, but as you all started to encounter miners at work, you had your answer as to why. Clangs of steel hitting rock and the low rumble of minecarts soon overtook the glistening sparkles of the crystals. Every once in a while you stop for Leon to take selfies with fans.
“Galar is a very industrial region.” You muse out loud, poking at a piece of coal at the top of a large stack. “You all are really into machines here.”
“Energy is our main business and export.” Leon’s eyes scan the various activities of the miners, as if he’s looking for something in particular. “The Chairman is trying to find a sustainable source of energy, because mining won’t last forever. And if our energy dwindles, so does the health of all Galar.”
You sit with this for a bit. Alola is a lot more laidback, and not as populated as here. While everyone adopts new technology as it comes out, there isn’t a rush towards anything in particular. One might say many parts are in decline, but you begin to miss the small villages among lush greenery.
“Champion Leon!”
Out from a side tunnel pops out a kid, probably a bit older than Gloria and Hop, in a full magenta coat and mop of platinum hair.
“There you are, you must be Bede.” Leon rests his sunglasses on his cap and he offers to shake hands.
The boy, Bede, ignores the gesture. “I hope you’re ready for me to beat you in the Champion Cup.” The arrogance on his face is insufferable as his eyes move over your group. “And that none of you plan on getting in my way.” Running a hand through his hair, he holds out a bag to Leon. “Here’s all the Wishing Stars I’ve found so far, make sure they get to Chairman Rose.”
And with a nonchalant gesture, he departs. Charizard lets out a brief but low growl. You couldn’t help but feel like Bede just saw you as bit extras in the play of his life.
“Charming.” Sonia rolls her eyes at his departing silhouette. “Make sure to beat him good, Milo.”
The curt nod from the usually soft Milo surprises you.
“Well folks, that’s it for me.” Leon stretches like he’s going on a run. “I have to get myself back to Hammerlocke to deliver these to the energy plant there. If I take too long I’m definitely going to have Oleana chaining me to a desk.” He turns to give a quick hug to Sonia, fist bump Milo, and then wraps his arms around your shoulders. “Keep in touch, okay?”
“Promise.”
With a final squeeze, Leon takes a few steps back and waves to you all before departing. Charizard leads him back the way you came, and soon the warm glow from his tail fades from sight.
“We should be on our way too.” Sonia looks to her phone. “Not only because there’s no service here, but Milo needs to open up the gym challenge. Turffield is going to be swamped.”
Milo begins walking in a different direction. “I know the mines pretty well, I can lead you through ‘em.”
The path through the mines are pretty uneventful, mostly winding tunnel after tunnel of miners and various extracted resources. Sonia and your conversation about when she did the gym challenge fills the air as Milo seems lost in his thoughts. The Pokemon in the mines are mostly peaceful and keep to themselves, doing their own digging or resting in dark corners. Every once in a while, Milo looks up to the cavern ceilings, searching for something.
“The exit should be gettin’ close.” He announces after checking the ceiling again.
You were about to ask him why he was doing that when you hear a fluttering from behind you, causing you to jump, scaring Sonia in the process. “S-sorry! I thought something was behind me-”
That’s when you notice something’s on your arm. And not just a little thing but a Pokemon.
You’re about to let out a scream when Milo makes a hushing noise as he walks over to you.
“It’s okay, fella ain’t gonna harm ya.” It was a ball of fur with wings, and what you think is its nose is suctioned to your arm. You’ve never seen such a Pokemon before, and if Milo wasn’t there you’d think it was trying to suck your blood. “It’s a Woobat, they are actually quite friendly, if a bit odd.” Milo lightly places his hands on the Pokemon, reminding you how he so easily calms creatures down. “Hey now, you have to ask permission before you give someone a kiss.”
Eventually you feel the snout of the Woobat peel off your skin, which thankfully isn’t painful just a little weird. But it left behind the impression of a heart on your arm. “A heart? That’s kind of cute.” You look to the Pokemon, who doesn’t have visible eyes but a cheerful smile with a single fang.
“That’s actually major good luck! Woobat don’t give that to just anyone.” When Milo lets go, the Pokemon hovered in the air next to you, and chirps happily.
You chance a look at the cave ceiling, and in the dim light you can see a bunch of heart-shaped impressions. “Were you looking up to see where the Woobat gathered?”
Milo’s gaze joins yours. “Sorta, I was checkin’ the time and how close we were to the exit. They tend to hang out near the entrances of caves, and that we don’t see Woobat means dusk hasn’t completely fallen yet.” His hand lightly touches your shoulder. “So we’re makin’ good time!”
Before the moment can sink in, he gives you a small smile and squeeze on the shoulder before moving back to the front of the group to continue leading. Not only do you and Sonia follow, but so does the Woobat. He hovers around you, sometimes visiting Sonia and Milo, but something about you has caught his interest. So you take out a few berries, and begin tossing them into the air, giggling as the Woobat swoops in skillfully to catch each in his mouth.
“Careful, you’re going to spoil him.” Sonia nudges you playfully. “But I’m glad to see you in good spirits. It’s been a wild few days for you, hasn’t it?”
You try not to think too much about it, but you nod. “I’m still trying to understand it all, but all I can do is move forward, right? To think I’m going to be battling Milo tomorrow is… strange.”
The peach-haired man in question turns to face you. “Just do it to have fun, that’s my perspective. If you’re having a good time, then win or lose, you’ve accomplished what you set out for!”
Woobat chirps in agreeance, and though you still find him a little strange, his presence is a positive one.
So you choose to believe them, that no matter what happens, it will be for the best. You’ve spent so much time in Galar worrying about your future. And as light from the outside begins to peek into view, you’re determined to better cherish the moment, for what was coming around the corner, you never would have guessed.

All I Want For Christmas Is You
When Halloween ended, it didn’t take long for the people in the Black Tower to begin their holiday preparations. The Senior Staff were already discussing what acts of good will they would commit during the season, and Alana had begun overseeing the decoration of her family home. “Why are you doing this so early?” Nora asked her. “You know its one of the only times that the family home is full. So, I want to make it to where my family won’t need to do much of the decorating. As Agatha and I are the ones closest, she and I will decorate the tree on Black Friday.” Alana replied. “It’s good that your family follows traditions like that.” Nora grinned. “I’m very thankful that The Red Death allowed me to continue that tradition even during my ascent to power. He didn’t have to do that.” Alana commented. “Because The Red Death still has a soul.” Nora stated. Alana shook her head. “Not just that. He still has his heart.”
Throughout the days leading up to November twenty-seventh, the Senior Staff gathered together in the main Recuperation Room. “I think we should give to local homeless shelters!”, “I think we should donate toys to needy kids!”, “Let’s take care of the bills for a few families this month!”, the ideas for acts of kindness poured out from the various members like a waterfall. Alana was deep in thought as everyone else talked. “What do you think Melody?” The Red Death asked. “I think we should make a list of all the needy families in the area, each of us choose at least a couple of them, then provide them with relief and goods this month. I also think that we should get the children more than just toys, but clothes, shoes and books as well. Perhaps, for every child on our list, we get them an outfit, pair of shoes, new book, and a toy. We can even take in to effect the non Christian population and still provide to them, simply for an act of goodwill. That way, everyone gets help, and needy children get a little cheer. They are a lot less fortunate than us, we should give them a bit of what they need and want. Oh, and let’s not forget the children in the hospitals around the area. At least one toy for each of them, and a meal sent to their families.” She suggested. “Do we have the budget for that, sir?” Veronica asked. The Red Death looked at Veronica with an eyebrow raised. He grabbed a tablet, tapped on it for a couple of minutes and handed it to her. “I see. We have more than enough.” Veronica replied. “I think it’s a fantastic idea!” Renee called. “We can even get the Paladins in on this! That way, we can help more people!” Nora cheered. “I’m in.” Derek chimed in. “Here here!”, “Let’s do this!”, “Huzzah!”, the room boomed with approval. “So, it’s unanimous. Melody’s idea wins.” The Red Death chuckled. “We deal with so much death, this is a lovely idea that can help people across the board, even if it is just for a little bit.” Lyra stated.
After much more discussion, each member of the Senior Staff was given a family to spoil. As they left the Recuperation Room to begin their missions, The Red Death held Alana back. “I know you’re going home for Christmas. When will you be leaving here?” He asked. “Probably the morning of Christmas Eve. Sam and Ken will get to the house the night before, and Mom and Nate are set to come home that day as well. Don’t worry... I’ll be back the day after Boxing Day.” She replied. “You know you don’t need to worry about when you’ll be back. I just want you to have fun.” He grinned. “Thanks for this. Although, I know that, if I’m not back in time for the New Year’s Party, all hell will break loose.” She chuckled. “When it comes to your missions, just buy the stuff for the kids. I’ll buy the food and deliver everything. After all, you are the only person in this tower who is leaving it for the holidays.” He ordered. She looked at him, puzzled. “Are Brandon and Jack not having Nora over?” She asked. “They’ve decided to spend the day here.” He replied. “Ah.” She nodded.
“Melody are you ready? It’s time to decorate the tree!” Agatha called from the living room in the main Roster family home. The family matriarch, Margaret, sat in the rocking chair next to a big box of ornaments. Alana dashed into the room. “Sorry, I was working on something.” She huffed. “You’re always working on something. It’s time to have fun!” Margaret stated. “I know, but Oma, you know I’m a busy woman.” Alana explained as she stood next to her grandmother. “I know, but, you need to slow down a bit.” Margaret replied. “I’ve been saying that for over a year, Mom, but she won’t listen.” Agatha commented as she turned on Christmas music. “Sweetie, you can’t be running all the time. Sometimes, you have to sit back and enjoy the view.” Margaret smiled as she held Alana’s arm. “But the view I want to see is almost within my sight! I’m almost to my ultimate goal!” Alana excitedly protested. “It’s not good for you to always be running. Even Nathaniel has been saying that.” Agatha stated. “I know... But still...” Alana sighed. “Alright, let’s get to the tree!” Margaret ordered.
As the three women took decorations and ornaments out of boxes and put them on the tree, they talked about memories. Margaret picks up a purple heart ornament with a pink decoration on it. Agatha: “Awe! Mels! It’s your Hannah Montana ornament! Remember your pop star phase?” Alana: “I’m trying to forget about it...” Margaret: “I don’t see why. You have a lovely singing voice.”
Margaret picks up an ornament that looks like a playing card. Margaret: “Sam’s card ornament! What game was that that she was so obsessed with?” Alana: “YuGiOh! That’s her Blue-Eyes White Dragon. She put it in a card protector and turned it into an ornament for safe keeping.” Agatha: “I thought you all were in to Pokemon...” Alana: “We are. But, we all prefer the games and anime over the cards.”
Margaret picks up an ornament that looks like Merida. Alana: “Mom’s Brave ornament!” Margaret: “We were singing “Noble Maiden Fair” before Disney popularized it.” Margaret picks up a metal ornament that’s in the shape of a cat. Margaret: “Sylvester’s ornament.” Alana, who tears up and begins to sniffle: “I miss him...”
“Mels! This is a wonderful idea! I’m glad the R.D.R is doing this! I wanna take part! If there’s a family that I can do that to, let me know!” Severina cheered. “Well, there are a couple of families that are on the list that the Senior Staff and I can’t get to... I’ll send you the details later today.” Alana smiled as they walked around the shops. “Fantastic! I can’t wait to put a smile on their faces!” Severina beamed. “Have you finished your shopping?” Alana asked. “Not yet. I haven’t quite decided on what to get you. Do you know what you want?” Severina asked. Alana shook her head. “The item I want most is on its way... I hope.” She replied. “That book you’ve been talking about for months? What was it called again? The Toll?” Severina asked. “No. The Toll is a book I’m still waiting on. It’s The Living that is on its way. I’ve waited two years for that book. I preordered it when Isaac Marion said that it was available. It’ll be a signed, hardcover, first edition, fresh off the press, copy. It’s that zombie book I’ve been waiting for.” Alana replied.
As they went through the shops and Alana purchased the items for the needy kids on her list, Severina kept talking about how great the holidays were gonna be. “We’ll play games and eat ourselves sick!” She cheered. “And your dad will get mad like he always does.” Alana commented. Severina stuck her tongue out at her. “This year, I don’t care if my father gets angry with me! I wanna enjoy myself!” She scoffed. Alana smiled. “Not to mention, how, if everything goes well, you won’t have to deal with your father any more soon.” She added. Severina hugged her. “Yeah! After that’s all over, my father won’t have any power in my mom’s and my life! I still don’t see why this investigation is taking months to do....” She replied. “Because you and your mom need time to build up your lives so you two won’t fail after he’s gone. I’ve told you that for weeks. Make it to where there is no way that you two will ever need him. During this time, the police and I are getting every ounce of evidence we need to lock your father away for good.” Alana explained.
A few minutes later, they had wandered into a bookstore. “Are we gonna have a snowball fight?” Severina asked. “Probably.” Alana grinned as she looked over the books. Suddenly, a book on a shelf in the book caught her eye. She walked over to the shelf and gazed at the book. It was an old detective novel by Agatha Christie. She picked the book up, looked closer at it, and smiled. A first edition. “I’m sure he has a copy of this one, but he doesn’t have a copy like this.” She thought. She took the book to the counter. “Either you’re a hardcore Agatha Christie fan, or you’re a fan of rare books.” The girl commented. “The man I love is a major fan of Hercule Poirot. I’m sure he has a copy of this one, but it’s not a first edition. This will be a perfect Christmas present.” Alana explained. “Would you like it gift wrapped?” The girl asked, smiling as she rang the book up. Alana shook her head. “No, I like wrapping presents myself.” She grinned as she slid her card in the card reader. “That’s so sweet. I hope he likes it.” The girl handed her the book in a bag with her receipt. “I hope so too. Thank you.” Alana took the bag, looked at it hopefully and began looking for Severina. “Have a great day! Merry Christmas!” the girl called as Alana walked off. “So, find anything good?” Severina asked. “Yeah, Nathaniel’s Christmas present.” Alana replied.
“Get in assholes, we’re going light looking!” Alana cheered as Castiel, Priya, and Nathaniel stood before a van. “Why do I have to drive?” Nora asked. “Because it will be good for you.” Alana replied. “Why are we doing this?” Nathaniel asked. “Because! Light Looking is a fun holiday event! We get hot chocolate, fast food, blankets and pillows and listen to Christmas music while we drive around and look at everyone’s light displays! Come on guys! Please?” Alana cheered. Nathaniel, Castiel and Priya looked around at each other and sighed. “Alright, if it’ll make you happy.” Nathaniel slightly grinned as he got into the van. “And why are we here?” Priya asked. Alana looked at them blankly. “Because its more fun with more people and you guys are my friends.” She stated. Priya looked at Castiel, shrugged, and got into the van. Castiel looked at Alana and smiled. “Is this what you really want?” He asked. “Yes.” Alana cheerfully cooed. “Alright, I’ll do it.” He chuckled as he got in the van. “Fantastic!” Alana cheered as she got in.
“Does your family decorate the outside of the main house in Weathering at this time of year?” Priya asked as they drove through the suburban sections of the city, listening to Christmas music, eating snacks and drinking hot cocoa. “Yeah. It’s tradition that the closest family members are required to do it. This year, Agatha and I had that task. There are lights in the trees and along the fence. We even have metal Santa hats for the dragons on the gate and the mailbox. Its not much, but people like it. We used to always get comments from local kids and our postmen before mom, Sam and I moved.” Alana explained. “Why don’t you stop, now that you don’t live there anymore?” Priya asked. “Because that house has been in our family for several generations. It’s been my family’s primary home since my great, great, grandmother bought it when my great, grandmother was a child. Typically, the next head of the family inherits it. It’s going to mom. Then, even though I’m mom’s successor, it will be going to Sam. Decorating it is a tradition that my family follows because, at it’s core, even though most of us don’t live there anymore, it is still home to us.” Alana continued to explain. “That’s really sweet.” Priya cooed.
As they drove through the city they saw many beautiful displays. Lights, music, beloved characters, it all made them feel warm. “Are you all gonna see family this season?” Nora, innocently, asked. Nathaniel and Castiel looked down. “I’ll be seeing my parents, but only for a couple of days.” Priya piped up. Alana put her hand on Nathaniel’s arm. “You could spend the holiday with me. I’m sure my family will happily welcome you.” She whispered into his ear. “I’m not ready for that. Besides, I’ll spend part of that day with Amber.” He whispered back. “Oh.” Alana looked down. “Thank you for the offer.” Nathaniel whispered, lovingly.
“Calm down, everyone!” Rayan called as he stood before his class. When the class became silent, he gave everyone a grin. “Now, I know that some of you will be starting your winter break after this, but I want you all to remember, learning does not stop at that door. Take in the beauty of the season, and appreciate the art that comes with it. Have a good break.” He announced as the class ended. Alana walked up to the podium. “You gonna watch the BBC’s rerun marathon of all the Doctor Who Christmas specials during the break?” She asked. “Maybe. You know Christmas isn’t my favorite time of year.” He replied, a hint of sadness in his voice. Alana looked down and attempted to be cheery. “I get that. But, hopefully, something will help you feel better.” She replied as she took a package out of her backpack and set it on the podium. “Merry Christmas Rayan.” She smiled as she walked out of the auditorium.
Rayan looked at the package, curiously, and began to open it. Inside was a DVD copy of Matt Smith’s era of Doctor Who, a Deadpool comic, a set of Batman shaped chocolate, and a note.
“From one geek to another. I hope this adds some cheer during this season.
                                     - Melody Alana Roster”
He read the note and smiled. “Thanks Alana.”
The hustle and bustle throughout the Black Tower became more celebratory. The Jewish members celebrated Hanukkah and invited Alana to join in on their fun. She took part in at least one night of the celebrations. “If you ever wanna join in on our holiday, please feel free to!” The girl who invited her smiled. “Yes, thank you so much for giving us some of your time!” a boy beamed. “Thank you for the invite! It was a lot of fun!” Alana smiled as she left the room. The other members of the Senior Staff were continuing their work on their missions. Alana had dropped off her mission purchases in the Red Death’s office.
“Severina talked to me about the mission. I gave her three families to help out and she went above and beyond. I’m impressed.” The Red Death commented. “She really wanted to help and she loved our mission.” Alana smiled. “That’s amazing. I’ll be sure to give her credit for all the work she’s done.” He replied. “Thank you, sir.” Alana bowed. “Alright, go get ready for your holiday.” He ordered.
★
The morning of Christmas Eve, Alana had been walking through the city, getting the last items she needed before she had to leave for Weathering. “Alright, got the treats from that local bakery that I like. Got all the presents loaded into my Mini Cooper, the Tower won’t fall into ruin while I’m gone. Nathaniel and everyone here know when I’ll be back. Sam and Ken got to the house last night. Mom and Nate should be getting there right about now. The shops should all be closing in the next couple of hours. I even got myself some yummy treats for breakfast! I’m still waiting on The Living to come in.” She thought out loud as she made her way back to the Black Tower.
When she got back to Death’s Domain, she saw Nathaniel standing outside her door. “My, my!! It really is Christmas. It’s just a damn shame I don’t have any mistletoe around!” She cheered when she saw him. “I wanted to see you before you leave.” He said, nervously. “I’ll only be gone a few days. I promise I’ll be home in time for New Years.” She cooed as she opened the door and let him in. “Would you like something to eat? I guarantee I bought too much for myself.” She offered as she set her purchases on the table. “Are you sure?” He asked. “I wouldn’t have offered if I wasn’t sure. Come on, let’s eat.” She insisted as she pulled out the food and a couple of plates. “Thanks, Alana.” He smiled as he sat down. Alana noticed him placing a package on the ground next to him. “What’s that?” She asked. He looked at her and nervously blushed. “I-I got you something.” He muttered. Her heart skipped a beat. “That’s really sweet! I’ve got something for you too.” She mused. He looked surprised for a second. “Really?” He asked. Alana got up from the table, walked over to the Christmas tree, picked up a present, brought it over to the table and sat down. “Do you wanna do this, then eat? Or do you wanna eat first?” She asked, lovingly. Nathaniel looked at the gift, then at the food, and his stomach growled. “Can we eat first?”
After eating their meal, Alana cleared the table, took the present she had gotten for Nathaniel to the couch, sat down and motioned for him to follow in her stead. He picked up the present at his feet, walked over to her and sat down. He sat the package on the table next to hers. She picked up the small package and handed it to him. “You first.” She beamed. He took it in his hands and began to open it. When all of the paper was off the book, he looked at it. “Its a first edition. Where did you find this?” He asked, shocked, a smile making it’s way onto his face. “There’s a bookshop in the more aristocratic part of the city. I was there with Severina one day and I found it in the back on a shelf.” She explained. “Thank you Alana. I love it.” He blushed. Nathaniel laid the book on the couch next to him, picked up the remaining present and handed it to her. She unwrapped the present, opened the box and looked at the item in shock. “Nathaniel, you remembered!” She choked as she pulled out a blue and white teddy bear. Nathaniel put his hand on his neck and nervously looked away. “Amber dragged me to the mall one day... I saw that in that bear building store and thought of you...” He explained. The bear was a deep blue with white spots all over it, resembling snow. It had yellow pajama’s and a deep blue robe on. On it’s wrist was a large plush bell. Hanging from it’s ear was a tag that looked like a golden train ticket. “Nathaniel, you didn’t have to get me anything...” Alana smiled. “I know, but I wanted to.” He replied. She set the bear down on the coffee table, got closer to him and kissed his cheek, sweetly. “Thank you so much Nath. It means the world to me.” She cooed. He scooted away from her, nervously, and his blush became more prominent. “M-Merry C-Christmas A-Alana.” He stuttered as he grabbed the book. She chuckled, grabbed the bear and stood up. “Merry Christmas Nathaniel.”
A couple of hours later, the gate at the main Roster family home in Weathering opened and Alana’s car pulled into the driveway. Sam opened the door as Alana got out of her car. “Welcome home, asshole!” Sam called as she walked towards the car. “Merry Christmas jackass!” Alana called as she started pulling stuff out of the car. “Good to see you, sis.” Sam patted Alana on the back. “You too, Sam.” Alana smiled. “Mom and Nate aren’t home yet. A package was sent here for you. The Red Death directed it to come here.” Sam explained as they walked into the manor. They walked to the kitchen and sat the goodies on the counter. “Mom and Nate will be home this evening. As for what he sent here, I’m not sure what it is.” Alana replied. “Well, he’s not the type to send gifts like that, is he? He typically gives you guys stuff directly, or sends messengers, right?” Sam asked. “Typically... Unless...” Alana began as her eyes shot up and she bolted to her room.
Alana threw open the door, ran to the bed, pulled out a knife and opened the package. “FINALLY! TWO YEARS OF WAITING AND IT’S FINALLY HERE!” She called as she picked up the book. Two years of waiting patiently, watching out for Isaac Marion’s email updates, a hint of despair when one update said that it might not get finished, hope when the emails began talking about the looming completion, and utter joy when preorders became available had all lead up to this. She opened the book and smelled the pages. “Ahhh... Freshly printed!” She sighed. She turned to the title page and saw the signature. She closed the book, looked in the box, pulled out the two packets and smiled. “The signed bonus stories!” She cheered. She quickly placed the book on the bed, sat down, and delved into the stories. After a few minutes, she placed the packets on her desk. “Those were lovely.” She sighed as she grabbed the book and went back downstairs.
“He must have seen that it would come in while I’m here!” Alana cheered as she walked into the living room and held up her book for Sam and Ken to see. “Isn’t that the book you’ve been waiting on for a while?” Ken asked. “Two years, yes.” Alana confirmed. “Well then, good for the Red Death. Although, you’d better understand, you can’t tear into that book the entire time. I know you’ve been waiting forever for it, but you need to stay in our world for a bit.” Sam chuckled. Alana rolled her eyes. “I know. I’ll just read in my free time.” She sighed. “Good. Mom texted me, she’ll be home in a couple of hours.” Sam announced.
Hours later, while Sam, Ken, Margaret and Alana were in the kitchen preparing the meal for the following day, the front door flew open, allowing some of the snow to come in to the manor. “Mom!” Sam and Alana cheered in unison as they sauntered towards the entryway. “We’re home!” Lynne announced as she and Nate walked into the entryway and shook off the snow. “Welcome home mom.” Alana smiled as she hugged her mother. “Hey Nate.” She cheered as she hugged her step-father. “Welcome back guys.” Sam smiled as she hugged them. “My babies! I’ve missed you two so much!” Lynne cheered as she looked at her daughters. “Is Nathaniel not with you?” She asked Alana. “No. I invited him, but he’s spending tomorrow with his sister. He came to Death’s Domain this morning and we ate breakfast and did our gift exchange.” Alana clarified. “What did he give you?” Nate asked. “The Polar Express bear from the bear building shop.” Alana blushed. “Awe, he must have remembered your favorite Christmas movie!” Lynne smiled.
It didn’t take long for everyone to eat dinner and get settled into the living room. The Christmas Eve movie that was chosen was Hogfather. As the movie progressed, and Death did the Hogfather’s job, Alana couldn’t help but be reminded of why she chose the Grim Reaper as her R.D.R avatar. It was, of course, an homage to her favorite incarnation of him. She never got over the part of him saving the little match girl in Hogfather. The scene in the movie was playing. “You’re not supposed to do that.” Alfred said as Death refilled the little match girl’s hourglass.  "The Hogfather gives presents. There's no better present than a future." Death pointed out as he picked the little girl up off the street. Terry Pratchett’s version of the Grim Reaper was what she wanted to resemble when doing her job.
After the movie was over, and everyone had gone to bed, Alana made sure to leave a pork pie and a glass of sherry for Santa with a note saying “The Hogfather likes this, maybe you’ll appreciate something different.”. She knew that no one would come for it, but she giggled at the principle of the thing. She went back to her room, put the bear Nathaniel gave her in her lap, texted Nathaniel “Goodnight”, and began reading her book. “I’ll just read a couple of chapters, then I’ll go to sleep.” She mused as she read.
The morning of Christmas Day was always a fun one. With no little kids waking up early to make a ruckus, it was up to Sam and Alana to wake up and begin the festivities. As Alana descended the stairs in her pajamas, she smelled bacon being cooked in the kitchen. “Merry Christmas fuckface!” Sam cheered as she stood over the stovetop. “Merry Christmas you overdeveloped cum shot!” Alana mused as she walked into the kitchen, pulled out a griddle and began preparing pancakes. As the pancakes cooked, Alana pulled out her phone and sent a “Merry Christmas” message to Nathaniel. He quickly came back with a “Merry Christmas” message. As the smell of the girls’ cooking became stronger, Ken, Lynne and Nate wandered into the room. “Smells delicious!” Lynne mused. “Can I have some?” Nate asked. “We’re eating good today!” Ken cheered.
Not long after breakfast, there was a knock on the door. Everyone had gotten dressed and was beginning to work on the next preparations for the evening feast. “They’re here early.” Sam smiled. “At this rate, they might as well spend the night here!” Alana commented as she went to open the door. “MELS!” Severina cheered as she threw her arms around her. “Hey Rini!” Alana mused as she hugged Severina. She looked at the people behind Severina. “Hey Viktor, aunt Verity!” She called. Viktor came into the manor holding a large stack of gifts. “Hey Mels!” He smiled as he did his best to balance the stack in his arms. “Do you need help?” Alana asked. “I’d appreciate it.” He sighed. She chuckled and took some of the packages away from him. “Thanks.” He smiled as they walked to the living room and set the presents around the tree.
Throughout the day, the manor filled with the Roster clan and close friends. Agatha, Seraphina, Kirk, Kai and Ravenna had all shown up. As soon as Kai had entered the living room, he was met with sharp glares from Viktor, Severina, Ken, Sam and Alana. “Already judging, I see.” Kai commented as he sat down in a chair in the corner. “If you weren’t so disrespectful, you wouldn’t be receiving this treatment.” Sam spat. “The least you can do is be a good little boy and remain silent.” Severina shot. “Oh, and don’t forget to thank OUR FAMILY for making sure your daughter doesn’t turn into a wretched disgrace like you!” Alana added. Ken and Viktor looked at each other, then shot Kai disgusted looks. “Come on? Nothing from you two?” Kai asked them. “The girls have got it covered.” Viktor stated as Ken nodded in agreeance. Kai then scoffed and left the room. He could be heard muttering the phrases “fucking assholes” and “no respect” as he walked out. A minute later, Ravenna ran into the room, Seraphina following suit. “MELS! SAMI! RINI! KEN! VIKY!” Ravenna cheered as she made her way around the room, giving everyone hugs. “Hey kiddo.”, “Hey Kid.”, “Merry Christmas Ravenna.”, “Good afternoon little one.” they all greeted. “Hey kids.” Seraphina smiled. “Hey Sera.” Alana grinned. “I see you’ve all instantly jumped on Kai.” Seraphina commented. “I know Christmas is about “Peace on Earth” and “Good will towards men”, but he’s been an insufferable prick the past few years, so, we’ll ignore peace and good will in an effort to show him that.” Sam explained. “Not to mention how he’s disrespected mom, Sam and me A LOT over the past few years!” Alana commented. “Sera, he has become a selfish, self centered, overly entitled, fool.” Severina stated. “Okay, I get it. But, can we please tone that down for the holiday? I’ll tell him to do the same.” Seraphina requested. Sam and Alana rolled their eyes. “Fine, I guess.” Sam sighed. “Whatever.” Alana shot.
It wasn’t long before the ham was in it’s final hours of cooking and everyone could gather in the living room to open presents. “Did you get something from Nathaniel?” Severina asked. “Yeah, that Polar Express bear that just came out.” Alana replied. “Awe! He remembered!” Severina cooed. Lynne began passing the presents out to everyone. Ravenna had gotten a bunch of toys from various genres. Superheroes from Alana, Anime from Sam and Ken, Sci-Fi from Lynne and Nate, and Princesses from everyone else. “Looks like her villains are up a creek without a paddle!” Alana joked. “Oh yeah! They won’t know what hit them!” Ravenna cheered. “Mels? Sam? Did you two not get Kai anything?” Seraphina asked. “Nope.” Alana replied. “Why would I?” Sam asked. Seraphina, and Lynne sighed. Kai opened the three presents he received. “Thanks guys.” He sheepishly grinned. Ken, Viktor, Agatha, Seraphina, Kirk, Margaret, Harold, Nate, Lynne and Verity opened their presents. “Thanks everyone.”, “This is so sweet!”, “You all know me!”, “This is lovely!”, “Thanks fam!”, “This is amazing!”, “So cute!”, “Fantastic!”, “I love it!”, “Divine!” they all cheered as they put the trash in the bag. Severina began to open her presents. “Oh my gosh! These are amazing!” She cheered. Alana had gotten her a collection of all of the Pokemon movies. Sam had gotten her a bunch of Sailor Moon items. Viktor had gotten her Disney stuff. The family got her various other things that was on her wish list. Sam opened her presents. The pile of items around Sam looked like an explosion of Batman. “This was awesome!” She beamed. Alana began to open her presents. Agatha gave her filaments for her 3D printer. Margaret gave her a Sailor Moon plush. Seraphina gave her a set of Stewart Semple’s paints. Lynne gave her figures of Death from the Discworld Emporium. Nate gave her Doctor Who items. Verity gave her a black, Doctor Who, long coat. Viktor gave her a Rowlet plush from Pokemon. Severina gave her a set of Sailor Moon Funko Pops. Then came Sam’s presents to her... Alana unwrapped the gift and instantly became awestruck. “Sam, this is a Hong Kong exclusive.” She commented. “Yeah, I got a contact to get it to me.” Sam replied. Alana picked up the item and showed everyone. In Alana’s hand was a portable power bank shaped like the Cosmic Heart compact from Sailor Moon. “There’s more in that box.” Sam smiled. Alana pulled out a Spiral Heart Rod selfie stick and a Cosmic Heart popcorn bucket from Universal Studios Japan. “See, it matches the Crystal Star and Cutie Moon Rod stuff I got for Rini!” Sam beamed. Tears came to Alana’s eyes. “Sam.” She sputtered. “Awe, come on! You know I love you!” Sam chuckled. “Awe!” A bunch of people smiled.
After the trash from the presents had been cleared away, and all members who didn’t live in the house had put their presents in boxes and bags, Sam, Ken, Lynne, Seraphina, Agatha, Viktor and Alana put the food on the table. The dinner consisted of a massive brown sugar glazed ham, turkey, two different dressings, green bean casserole, yams, mashed potatoes, white gravy, cranberry sauce, carrots, croissants and rolls. The desert table was covered in beautiful snacks brought by several members of the family. Several Christmas themed cakes, snickerdoodles, several variations of sugar cookie, shortbread cookies, gingerbread cookies, divinity, home made hard candy, truffles, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, candy canes, and cheesecake. “I see the feast is a little extra cheery this year!” Verity beamed as everyone sat down. “Yes, this is a major year for our clan! We must celebrate it properly!” Seraphina smiled. “Let’s hope that the table will have more next year!” Agatha cheered. Alana smiled. “Hopefully, it will!” She cooed. Margaret whispered something to Lynne and Lynne stood up. Everyone turned their attention to Lynne. “Family, dear friends, each Christmas, our clan celebrates another year of love, life, and the pursuit of happiness. As the stories tell, this season is for “Peace on Earth” and “Good will towards men”. Our family is no different. The past few years, we have been through many hardships, and, while I know the hardships have yet to end, and I can say that, this past year has brought us many victories. That being said, this is a time to be thankful for what we have, and look forward for what’s to come. I know you all are working hard to achieve your dreams, just as I have. Thank you all for everything you are, and everything you do! Merry Christmas!” Everyone raised their glasses and toasted to Lynne’s speech. “Merry Christmas!” They all cheered.
When dinner ended, they cleaned everything up, got everyone’s “to go” boxes ready and the kids went into the living room. “Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros.?” Sam asked. “Either way, someone is getting their ass kicked!” Alana cheered. “Let’s play Mario Kart! We played Smash last year!” Severina suggested. “I’m in.” Viktor cheered. “I’m out, I’m too full. I’ll sit and watch.” Ken sighed as he laid on the couch. Viktor, Severina, Sam and Alana proceeded to play video games for a couple of hours. Each match ending in cheers, someone groaning, and plenty of jokes and laughter.
Alana’s head had begun to hurt from the games, even with her glasses activated to “videogame mode”. “I’m gonna go to bed.” She yawned. “Okay, do you need help upstairs?” Viktor asked. “Nah, I’ll leave my presents down here, I’m just gonna go to sleep.” Alana smiled as she left the party and went to her room. Suddenly, her phone was vibrating. She took it out of her pocket, looked at it, and answered the call. Alana: “Good Evening Nathaniel.” Nathaniel: “Hey, Alana.” Alana: “I get a present and an evening phone call? It really is the most wonderful time of the year!” Nathaniel: “You sound like you’ve had fun.” Alana: “It would have been more fun if you had been here.” Alana put Nathaniel on speaker phone while she got changed into her pajamas. Nathaniel: “Alana....” Alana: “I know, I know.... You’re not ready for this yet. It’s a big thing to come to the Roster Family Christmas. Especially considering you’d be meeting Viktor, Severina and my aunt Verity. Oh, and we’re not officially back together yet.” Nathaniel: “You know...” Alana: “I know, it’s dangerous. You keep telling me that. But, you’re worth the danger. Not to mention, I’m me. I’ll survive.” Nathaniel: ... Alana took the call off of speaker phone and got into bed. Alana: “So? How was your holiday?” Nathaniel: “It was alright. I hung out with Amber for a while, then she had to spend time with our parents.” Alana: “So, for the most part, you just spent Christmas with Blanche?” Nathaniel: “Yeah.” Alana: “Well, next year, how about you spend Christmas with me?” Nathaniel: “Next year?” Alana: “Yeah. Amber can come too. We can even bring Blanche!” Nathaniel: -chuckles- “Maybe. When we get closer to that point.” Alana told Nathaniel how her Christmas went. Nathaniel: “Wow, you did have a lot of fun!” Alana: “It’s always a bit of a party around here at Christmas!” Nathaniel: “Would your family be okay if I came next year?” Alana: “Mom asked me why you didn’t come this year. Don’t worry, I told her that you and I aren’t fully official yet, and that you’re not comfortable.” Nathaniel: “Thanks Alana.” Alana: -yawns- “Of course. Hey, I’m really tired, I’m gonna go to sleep. Goodnight Nathaniel. Merry Christmas!” Nathaniel: “Okay. Goodnight and sweet dreams my Melody. Merry Christmas.” Alana ended the phone call, put her phone on the charger on her bedside table, grabbed the bear Nathaniel gave her, and curled up in bed. Viktor and Severina lightly knocked on her door, telling her that they’re staying the night and they’ll see her in the morning. Slow, calm, Christmas music rang through the house. Sam knocked on the door. “Mels! Don’t forget! We’re all having a snowball fight tomorrow! Rest up and prepare for battle!” She called. “’Night Mels!” Ken called. A couple of minutes later, Nate and Lynne called through her door. “Goodnight kiddo!”, “Sweet dreams sweetie!”. When the only thing that could be heard from outside her bedroom door was the Christmas music, Alana rolled over and muttered to herself. “He called me “his Melody”. She smiled.
As the calm took over the Roster Estate, the area felt an air of peace. The snow was still falling, the music was soothing, and everyone in the home felt warm and cozy. Sam and Ken snuggled up in their bed. Nate and Lynne cuddled in theirs. Kirk picked Ravenna up off the floor and took the child to bed. Harold had fallen asleep in a chair in the living room. Seraphina told Kai to quit complaining and go to bed, before having a cup of tea with Agatha and Margaret. Verity, Severina and Viktor took refuge in guest rooms. And Alana fell asleep without the fear of her nightmares waking her up in the middle of the night. Just as it should on Christmas, peace and love won, and for one night, all was well.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been wanting to write this one for a couple of years now. It was originally going to be a lot like the first Christmas event for MCLUL, but I ended up taking a lot of liberties.
Oh, for context.... Kai gets a lot of harsh treatment in this one... You might wanna read the Cousin Mels specials.... You’ll find out why the girls can’t stand him. He’s an entitled asshole. But, hey, every family has one of those.

Hello! May I request for a matchup?
I am a bisexual, Demigirl ENFP-T personality type.
I'd say I'm somewhat independent but would love to have someone by my side to happily live with, I find trust as something that is very important and due to past reasons it can be difficult to earn my full trust. I try to always be a reasonable and mature person, but I can get irritated at a few things (like LGBTQ+ discrimination, racism or plain asshole stupidity) that can tick off a temper, but usually I'm a person of patience, though if I do get really angry then I'm gonna also end up having a mental breakdown later -. I'm fine with waiting and am usually very forgiving. Religiously I'm an atheist, technically ex-christian due to family reasons. I come from Estonia, so I'm bilingual with English and Estonian but am also learning Russian and German. (Thinking of learning Japanese one day too)
I'm a rather fidgety person, fingers always have to be doing something, I can also have rather terrible memory sometimes with things and can forget.
I have low self confidence and self worth, usually struggle to be optimistic and can be rather emotional, also often an absolute empath when it comes to fictional characters for example.
I can be a workaholic and can be terrible at taking care of myself, I easily lose track of time and can forget to eat at times, also have a fuzzy appetite so sometimes I might not want to eat anything at all. I care alot about other people's well being though, for me appearance doesn't matter, I care for the personality and think everyone is beautiful in their own way. I am a short chubby brunette with a boy haircut and brown eyes, my hair is often thick and poofy and sometimes hell to take care of, due to some health reasons I have an itchy scalp and have to often scratch my head. My fashion depends on just if the clothes are comfortable to wear in the moment, that's it. I wear glasses due to a bit of a negative in my sight.
I sometimes struggle to have a balanced sleep schedule and am often stressed.
I hold a strong love for animals and the nature around us. I especially love cats and reptiles and own a cat and a leopard gecko who I would die for.
Fiction is an important part of my life, the moment I get interested in in some show or franchise you can expect me to become an absolute nerd for it, (good example is Pokemon.) I am the type to analyze characters and really care about everything. Books, shows, movies, theatre, anything goes. I really also love music, 60% of the time you can find me listening to music somewhere, maybe even singing, I multitask alot too. My music taste depends on what connections I make to fictional media, especially that of my own, aka stories and characters I've created. My mind is always going like a 1000km/h with all types of thoughts, my own fictional universe only keeps expanding which I wish to share with the world. My dream is to become a writer one day, which I'm very passionate about, and another thing I really want to do one day is travel the world. I also do some art and animation, but intend to keep it as a hobby on the side.
I'm an ambivert, shy and hesitant around new people especially those of higher authority and importance, but incredibly outgoing with the people I'm familiar and comfortable with, never getting tired from them. Affection starved, expect lots of hugs, not that much into PDA tho. For me first impression matter, on my part, I am quick to think that people hate me or are annoyed with me.
Even with my fuzzy appetite I do like food, especially of strong flavour, I tend to seem to like asian or Italian food alot. I'd say I'm decent and cooking but not very good at baking.
Minimalistic, not very demanding when it comes to anything, it's basically like "Better than nothing." would be the type to live in a rather small house one day. Somewhat organized in my own way, sometimes I can act a little OCD though when something is out of place in a manner that it's just - no.
I can be rather talkative, when getting in a conversation with me expect to talk for hours about all types of things, wherever the conversation goes. Even better when it's over a cup of tea or a long walk somewhere outside.
I usually try to be as polite and kind as possible, though I sometimes struggle, I always try to have hope for the world, despite my incredibly pessimistic mindset.
For a partner, I look for someone I can geniuenly be happy and comfortable with, someone I can be open with and not worry about being lied to. I would be incredibly loyal to them and I'd hope them to be as well, of course, I don't get jealous or worked up if they're hanging out with friends. I want them to also be happy, someone I feel like I could spend the rest of my life with. Someone who'd be okay with traveling and seeing the world with, someone I can just have a moment to relax with, sometimes just talk and listen to eachother. Like stated before the appearance for me doesn't matter, it's the personality- what's inside that does. I shall note, the harmless teasing can get to me. Someone who's a geniuenly good person despite whatever flaws they might have.
I hope this is long enough ^^
Hi my dear patient anon!
guess what time it is!✨
i put a read more because it’s one long post!
OK so as I read through your request I had Levi, Belphie, Beel and Satan on my mind. Though Belphie is out of the picture fast since you have low self-esteem and if anyone then he probably would take advantage of that. Satan too I think. (I know in general he is viewed as an overall good boy but i feel like he might scare someone with low confidence levels when he is at his worst. also he can be manipulative too if there is a situation)
wait- damn- Simeon also exists (also Mammon? though with him and you it’d be a very rough start)
so after some elimination and comparison between dynamics including Simeon, Levi and Beel I decided to match you with Levi but I highly encourage befriending the other two!  ✨ Simeon because of the similar interests + excellent cooking and Beel because he is a mom-friend + you’d always have something to eat too if he is your friend!
phew it wasn’t an easy decision but here it is!
Okay so let’s see Levi
Okay first things first I think we need to change your level of confidence my friend. Which means starting off this relationship as friendship - honestly he is on the same page as you regarding this for similar reasons so you two can relate to the other. But once you gain a healthy amount of sense of self-worth + confidence I think this friendship could develop into a very loving and healthy relationship!
Just because he is a demon I don’t think he would use you, lie to you, manipulate you or anything similar to that. I mean you have similar interests and in canon Levi shows just the bare minimum of interest to someone whose lifestyle + likes aren’t similar to his. Also you’re his only friend besides Henry so why would he treat you bad I mean come on!!! he’s not stupid!!
Since your relationship is based on being friends trust will come in time, do not worry! Levi is also picky when it comes to ppl so again as you are in the same boat you understand the other deeply.
I mean Levi can be serious when the situation calls for it but in general you being with him would give you a nice balance with your maturity. He’s not childish but he has different approaches! Meaning he could learn from you but you could also learn from him!
Tbh i highly doubt he would ever tick you off either or purpose or not. He is mostly annoyed by stupid ppl (like Mammon) and normies but since you are also into anime you’re safe!
You having an interest in languages is something he will find fun! if i recall in the devildom there’s only one language? (they speak human for you though) so finding out about human world lore like that through you is going to be fun! also pls learn Japanese with him! (pretty sure he already knows so he could help you practice)
Okay so he can also spiral down due to lack of self-worth + self-love but as his friend you’re not supposed to let that happen!!
well he also tends to forget about himself but on a side note he is very caring about you and your health so he is faster at taking care of you than himself. That’s why you have to look after the other especially at first when both of your self-worth levels are so low.
pls tell him he is beautiful he will be flustered for the rest of the day but it’s worth it trust me
he absolutely finds glasses cute af he just has to look at you and !!!
He’s not big into fashion either, though he would love to cosplay with you so hopefully you are ok with wearing cosplay sometimes!
Also your workaholic tendencies might get to him sometimes? like i’m not saying he is lazy but for sure he could do better. Thanks to your influence he will do better!
the two of you gushing over fictional characters is just so cute;; think about that!!
ok he is your #1 supporter of becoming a writer!! pls let him be your beta reader aaaaa
well both of you are passionate so the emount of encouragement happening in this relationship is to die for
him being a shut-in means he’s not very big on traveling, but if he could go with you he’s quick to change his mind!
he also has trouble balancing a healthy sleep schedule but that just means you two can spend more time together so it’s a win-win situation
pls leave your cat with Satan when you visit Levi’s room because of Henry :( your gecko is more than welcome though!!!
okay he is also affection starved af but he would never initiate to save his life so here you being an ambivert is helpful!! also it leaves you space to tease him which is always fun!
regarding food you have a nice balance going on, he is more of a baker and you are the opposite! though cooking/baking with the other is always fun!! when he notices your lack of eating he will make sure to order/bake delicious food from the human world for you!
well he isn’t the messiest so hopefully your OCd wouldn’t kick in when you spend time in his room. I like to HC that he is actually very clean. If anything is out of place in his room it is because it was meant to be there. Or he was in a hurry.
about long walks outside you’d probably have to nag him a bit but soon he will realize that it’s actually not so bad.
bby is one of the most loyal demons out there so no worries you’re safe!! however he can be jealous easily so it’s nice that you are also loyal! just make sure to clear boundaries before establishing a relationship!
he’s not one to tease you but he is very into you teasing him, so that’s that
overall i don’t think this relationship would have huge conflicts - sure, you have to nag him about going out but he is not going to protest once he learns that it’s actually. fun. to go out sometimes. i’m more concerned about the two of you’s self-worth and confidence levels, but again it’s about what you do for growth and it’s not something that can’t be changed if you want to change it. besides these i think it’s a very healthy relationship and you both can be yourselves!

i havent been drawing or writing pokemon stuff for ages and im currently too busy to make something new in time for drew appreciation day so i thought id post some wip respectshipping stuff under the cut that i dont THINK ive posted before?? if i have im sorry, im a bit dry on drew content rn!!
for context the scenes are taken from a sequel to my respect oneshot, sparks, set during a pride festival!
Ash slipped his hand into Drew's, and Drew glanced at him rigidly.
“What are you doing?” he asked. He didn't need to look to know that May and Brock had noticed, and were giving each other knowing smiles.
“Holding your hand?” Ash said, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
“I know that. Why?”
Ash furrowed his brow. “Why am I holding your hand? We're... well, together, Drew.” It felt weird to say it out loud, and his frown melted into an elated smile. “We're boyfriends. And this is a festival celebrating the kind of relationship we have. Isn't this the best time to do it?”
Drew's cheeks began to burn under the unspoken pressure. Of course, he liked to touch Ash in private, hold his hands and cup his cheeks and kiss him, but public displays of affection had never been his thing. Giving out roses was different, of course – it was part of the charming persona he put on. He wasn't ashamed of his sexuality, and he certainly wasn't ashamed of Ash; but there was a time and a place for physical affection, and in the middle of a crowded street wasn't what he considered an opportune moment.
“We... we don't do this out in the open, Ash,” he reasoned. Ash shrugged.
“If you're sure.”
Ash dropped his hand, and at first Drew felt relief. But just moments later, he realised how cold his hand suddenly felt without the familiar warmth of Ash's.
With a huff, he grabbed it back.
“Jerk.”
...
“I'll only enter this contest if you enter the battle tournament.”
“Like hell. I don't get my kicks from raw power battles, sorry.”
“And I don't get my kicks from showing off how pretty my pokemon can be, but I'm willing to compromise. This is like, a couple activity. You know, so we can bond.”
“You know contests are about so much more than beauty, Ash. For the record, they say it's healthy for couples to not do everything together.”
“And we don't! We hardly see each other when we're travelling, so this'll be a special occasion!”
Ash and Drew were bickering again, as usual, though Brock had to admit it was far more entertaining seeing them argue over trivial matters such as 'couple activities' than having to watch them stew in their own feelings for the past few years. Getting to see them comfortable around each other was refreshing.
“Look, battles aren't romantic – contests aren't romantic! It's about you and your pokemon, not about you and your pokemon and your annoying boyfriend and his pokemon.”
“But I already told my mom we'd be battling together! She's recording it!”
“Your mother needs a new hobby that doesn't involve snooping on our relationship at any given moment,” Drew quipped, but he seemed a little less defensive at that. “She's really gonna be watching us?”
Ash patted his shoulder. “I told you she's trying to be supportive. She was excited when I mentioned the festival to her, actually. She asked me to pick her up a souvenir, like a badge or a wristband or something? And she was all, 'tell Drew I said hi!' so... yeah, she said hi.”
“And you're only mentioning this now.” Drew threw up his hands in exasperation. “Didn't it cross your mind to tell me earlier?”
“That she said hi?” Ash quirked an eyebrow. “My bad? Look, she asked me to call her tonight. If you want, I'll let you listen in.”
Drew clasped his hands together. “Maybe I'll... say hi back,” he said, licking his lower lip nervously. Ash grinned.
“You know, I think she'd like that.”
“This is heart-warming and all,” Brock smirked, finishing the last of his coffee, “but if you guys don't hurry up and compromise, you'll run out of time to sign up.”
And with that, their bickering was back to square one.
...
Delia's face appeared on the screen and she smiled warmly.
“Well hello there, Ash! Are you enjoying the festival so far?”
“Oh yeah! It's amazing. I never knew how big Sinnoh's gay community was until now.”
“Well, I'm glad you're having a good time. You're participating in the tag team battle tournament tomorrow, right?”
Ash's face fell slightly.
“I don't know. I was meant to be taking part with Drew, but he isn't so big on battling, so we haven't signed up yet.”
“Well, I'm sure you'll work it out,” Delia said with a sympathetic smile. “And how is Drew doing? Did you tell him I said hello?”
Ash's eyes lit up.
“Yeah, he's doing great! Actually... he talked about saying hi back. If you wanted to speak to him.”
Delia blinked in surprise.
“Oh, he wanted to talk to me?”
Ash smiled consiprationally.
“He'll never admit it to me but he really wants to make a good impression on you, Mom.”
Her cheeks were pink with pride and she chuckled lightly.
“Very well, hand him over.”
Unsurprisingly, Drew stepped out from just beyond view of the camera – Delia realised he was listening in the entire time, but decided to keep this revelation to herself for the time being.
“Why hello there, Drew. I suppose this is the first time we've talked since you two made the announcement.”
He nodded sheepishly.
“Yeah. Um, Ash and I don't travel together often. We parted ways after the visit, so... yeah. You're looking well, ma'am.”
“Oh please, call me Delia,” she said with a dismissive wave, then smiled. “I'm so excited to see the two of you compete in the tag battle tournament tomorrow!”
If Drew had been on the fence about it prior, he certainly wasn't anymore.
“Yes! Uh, we're looking forward to it, aren't we, Ash?”
Ash, looking both flabbergasted at the turn of events and also ecstatic at the news, nodded hastily.
“Yep! That's right, and the day after we're entering the pride contest! Since we're trainer and coordinator, we thought we'd do both!”
Ash grinned at his mother (mouthing how did you do that?? towards her) and she gave him a knowing wink in return.
“How wonderful! I've heard your coordinator skills are marvellous, Drew! I'm looking forward to it. It's a shame I couldn't be there in person.”
“Not sure this is your kind of scene, Mom,” Ash said with a laugh. “But it's been great! I got you a wristband, it's rainbow like a pride flag!”
“How sweet! Did you pick one up for Mimey too?”
Ash beamed and fished a pair of wristbands from his pocket.
“You know I did! Nothing but the best for you guys!”
“Mimey's been so excited for you too, dear. We'll wear them with pride!” She giggled at her own joke, and then clasped her hands together.
“By the way, you two, I was wondering how you would feel about the three of us sitting down for a meal in Pallet Town after the festival.” Her gaze flickered between the two of them. “You know, so that Drew and I can get to know each other better.”
Ash found the scar on the end of his ring finger suddenly very interesting to stare at.
“I don't know, Mom. I mean... maybe the timing isn't-”
“Sure, Mrs – uh, Delia.”
Ash glanced up in surprise at Drew, whose facial expression didn't give away his nerves like his shaking hands did, carefully out of Delia's view.
“Drew, you mean it?”
“Of course.” He offered Ash a quick smile. “Delia, I look forward to visiting again.”
“Wonderful!” Delia clapped her hands together and beamed. “Well, boys, I have to be going, but I'll be taping the matches! Good luck, both of you!”
The moment the call ended, Drew trudged back up to the rooms and headed over to his bed, flopping down rather ungracefully face first. Ash perched on the end of his own bed.
“Your mom is nice,” Drew said after a while, face emerging from his pillow. Ash chewed his lower lip.
“She means well, she really does want you to know each other now we're dating, but... we don't have to do this dinner if you're not ready for it.”
Drew opened his eyes to peer at Ash incredulously.
“What? No. I didn't just agree to it because your mom was giving me the same look you give me when you want something. I'm ready for this, you know? I want your mother to like me. I want to know the person who helped make you who you are.”
He took a deep breath.
“May finding out about us... it opened my eyes. For years I worried about what people would think of me if they knew. Then I realised, the world isn't one big contest. When it comes to who you are, the only one whose judgement matters is you.”
“Drew...”
“You mean a lot to me, Ash. I want to be a part of your world, and I want to introduce you to mine.”
“You sap.” Ash moved over to Drew's bed and rested his head against Drew's shoulder. “I'd really like that, though. I know our journey has been pretty rocky, but I just love being around you. And now we can be open about it, I've gotten so excited.”
Drew pressed a kiss to his forehead, and grinned.
“Now who's the sap?”
