Attempting to unravel the events of the Arcanum in Arc 2 (Chapter 4 & 5 Spoilers)

Now that we have (most) of the picture due to chapter 5, I think sorting this whole mess out will help shed some light on the situation. SO OUR NIGHT'S EVENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS 1. The D-Clan enters the Arcanum and informs the arcanists of the Ghoul. 2. They enter the Archives and Occam begins the ghoul search. Everyone else tries and fails to move the COLD TESSELATION 2.1. Spit is outside everyone's view while he puts blood in his goblet. 3. Everyone splits up, Elise steals from Giles. 4. Spit runs off on his own (Voluntarily) due to 'Having an idea as to where Giles dropped his keys, wallet and smokes' With context from Chapter 5 we now know; 5. Elise meets up with Grimal after her (Grimal's) fight with Kitten and gives her the keys to the security room and Giles' pack of smokes. 5.1. Sometime between Elise meeting with and giving Grimal the Smokes & Occam being attacked, Grimal is controlled by (Someone*) to crawl through the Security Room Vent and attack Occam. *This could be Matilda or the Ghoul 5.2. D moves through the secret corridors in the Arcanum but gets distracted by the return of the Dodo Bird. 5.3. Harry & Marckus Lift weights together. 6. Blacklaw & Security prepare to confront D & Co 7. We receive our first map.

8. Kitten meets with the cleaners in the Kitchen. Matilda says 'The Security Room is the most ventilated room in the building' and "I'm not in it". 8.1 Matilda already has the Git Rolls; This means she has gone to the security room and taken the Hunter Data from Grimal. SPECULATION: Matilda went to the Security Room with the intention of attacking Occam & Stealing the Data herself but found Grimal to have already done it and thus took advantage of the situation. (MY WTA RESEARCH IS STILL SHALLOW, MORE INSIGHT AT A LATER DATE)

8.2 Occam & Security move to set up their "lie detector" (assumably to gain information on their suspicions that D is lying). Notably, Spit is with them now.

8.3 Kitten leaves the Kitchen, Elise is in the hallway changing her hair tie. This means she has gone to security to check on Grimal and has given her, her hair tie to cover up the burn wound Grimal received from strangling Occam. 9. D meets up with Kitten & Elise. 9.1. Remold & Security meet up with D, Kitten, and Elise.

9.2. Fighting ensues; Marckus & Harry meet with the main group of Remold, Security, Elise, D, Kitten. NOTE: Brock claims Occam has been gone for "Three Tire Changes" or "Almost the length of two football games". Going off google; (~45 minute for a Tire Change, ~90 for a SOCCER game) this would put the time between Events 5 & 9 at just over 2 hours. 9.3 D steals Remold's Keys, Remold steals Kevin's ID from D. 10. D-Clan & Remold+Security & Co (Harry+Elise) enter the Archives and find Occam unconscious after being attacked by Grimal. 10.1. Gloria enters the Archives and checks on Occam's condition. She was on the 3rd floor during Event 7; However due to the time passing between events 7 & 10 she could have easily moved down to the second floor and heard the commotion of the Archives being opened. 10.2. The rest of the group (The Cleaners, Grimal, Fatigue) enter the Archives. Assumably they felt the rumbling from it opening (as was established in Chapter 5, The whole chapter house rumbles when the Archives are opened) 11. D drags Elise off for interrogation. 11.1. Remold drags Amanda, Grimal, and Kitten off to be "interrogated" via car battery. 11.2. Fatigue leaves the archives towards the Pub with Giles (Git) & Simon (Spit) 12. D interrogates Elise 12.1 Remold "interrogates" and FRIES Amanda. 13. Marckus interrupts D's interrogation of Elise. 13.1 Marckus, D and Elise head towards Remold. 13.2 Remold begins to "Interrogate" Grimal. 14. A fight breaks out between D-Clan & the Blacklaws 14.1. Marckus gets his ass beat (AGAIN) 14.2. Remold reveals Kevin's ID as evidence against D. 14.3. Elise leaves to get Gloria 14.4. D & Remold begin Round 2 15. Screaming erupts as Fatigue is attacked. [REWINDING] Event 11.2 Saw Fatigue & Co go to the Pub. Between events 11.2 & 15 here is what happened. Marked as sub-events 15 here, however they take place between 11.2 & 15. 15.1 Fatigue & Co enter the Pub to chat about life and such. 15.2 Giles goes to the bathroom 15.3 Matilda enters the Pub (Unknown reason, unknown entrance) We know she entered NOW due to her not being present when Giles went to the bathroom. SPECULATIVE POSSIBILITES; 1. Matilda could have entered through the Pub's main entrance and locked it as she entered with the intent of killing Fatigue from the start due to him studying lycanthropy. Due to the door being locked this is most likely. 2. Fatigue & Co locked the door to the pub beforehand (For some reason? Perhaps to keep the ghoul in or out based on Fatigue's Suspicions). Matilda then enters through the secret passage way in the wardrobe and attacks Fatigue. SPECULATIVE POSSIBILITIES END 15.4. Matilda Transforms (Likely into a partial form such as the Glabros (Which is the form she initially took when breaking her bindings in chapter 5)) and kills Fatigue. During this attack Spit is overcome by delirium and is incapacitated for the rest of the night. During this attack the stuffed bear is knocked over trapping Giles in the bathroom. (THIS IS WHERE SUB EVENTS 15.1-15.4 SYNC UP WITH EVENT 15) 15.5. After killing Fatigue, Matilda flees through the secret passage to the security room. 15.6 Matilda cleans herself up and meets back up with the main group as they enter the Pub. 16. Everyone stands outside the Pub as Brock breaks the door down. NOTE: There is notable delay between 15.5 and 16 due to Matilda having the necessary time to clean herself due to the door being locked. 17. Fatigue's corpse is discovered. NOTE: Not directly related to the timeline but the STUFFED WOLF is in frame and covered in blood; This is just the most obvious foreshadowing/statement ever I feel silly for missing it before.

17.1 Occam enters the Pub. SUB EVENT 1 While Fatigue was getting murdered and everyone is freaking the fuck out over everything going on in the Chapter House; Guy Chapman and Kevin are at the police station being GOOD DETECTIVES WHO ARE DOING THEIR JOBS AND NOT GETTING MAULED BY WEREWOLVES. SUB EVENT 1 ENDS 18. Marckus declares hunter huddle. 18.1. Gloria, D, Marckus, and Kitten meet in the bathroom to discuss vampire disciplines and ghoul shenanigans. 18.2. D's Group argue; The others are cleaning up Simon. 18.3. Gloria leaves D's Group for the time being. 18.4. Marckus leaves D's Group leaving only Kitten & D 19. Everyone has regrouped and discusses the previous events. 20. D begins the Molotov interrogation. 21. Occam begins the interrogation for the murder of Fatigue. ABSENTEES 1. Giles was in the bathroom during the attack. 2. Harry was on the 3rd floor searching Gloria's office during the attack. 3. Matilda claims to have been on the 3rd floor during the murder of Fatigue. (This is a lie as she was fleeing the scene and cleaning herself up during this. This is why Harry did not see her & vice versa.) 4. Elise went to get Gloria while the D-Clan engaged in combat with the Blacklaws. 22. The Absentees are locked up in the pub bathroom. 23. The COLD TESSELATION is Teleported into the Pub. 23.1. D & Remold move the COLD TESSELATION into the Washroom. 23.2. Simon (SPIT) is put into the COLD TESSELATION. 24. EVERYONE DIVIDES INTO GROUPS Pub Team: D, Grimal, Remold, Brok Pub CAPTIVES: Elise, Matilda, Giles, Harry Weapons Team: Occam, Gloria, Kitten, Marckus, Amanda NOTE: From here there will be a split between Pub Team (+Pub Captives) & Weapons Team (And then Security Team once they meet up). Simultaneous events will be marked as best I can but most of this stuff is directly happening in the episode anyway since there isn't as much hiding as Chapter 4. (EVENTS 25 & 26 HAPPEN SIMULTANEOUSLY.) 25. Weapons Team heads to the Archives 25.1 Weapons Team arrives at the Archives. 25.2. Marckus reveals he has bought [NUMBER] Dlushes. 25.3. Weapons Team enters the Archives; Occam reveals the Hunter Data hiding spot to find it missing. 25.4. Marckus splits off from Weapons Team to search for Oculus Empyrean (I will just call it The Artifact)* Note: Oculus Empyrean translates along the line of; [Fire Eye] [Eye in the Pyr(Or Fire)] [Eye on the Pyr (Or Fire)] SPECULATION: I choose to interpret the Artifact's name as meaning something like (Having your eyes on the fire; The fire being the supernatural due to the often destructive nature of fire when not controlled.) 25.5. Weapons Team leaves & locks the archives. 25.6. Weapons Team heads to the armory. 26. Pub Team discusses the matter of the attackers being able to get through the building without being noticed. 26.1. SON IN LAW WRITE THAT DOWN. (Fuckin have to do everything myself!) ALRIGHT! 26.2. Matilda reveals the presence of the hidden passage behind the Pub wardrobe. 26.3. Brok searches the Wardrobe passage and ends up in the security room. 27. Weapons Team arrives at the armory and begins to arm themselves. 27.1. Marckus locates the Artifact. He begins to crawl through the vents. 27.2. Brok reaches the security room and radios in with everyone else. 27.3. Marckus enters security and is confronted by Brok. [EVENT SYNCRONSIS] Events 25-25.5 happen Simultaneously with Events 26-26.2. Events 26.3 & 27.2. Happen back to back. This means there is a gap between events 27.1. and 26.3. 28. TEAM SECURITY IS FORMED (Composed of Marckus & Brok) 28.1. Team Security discovers footage of Grimal in the security room (This footage takes place between Events 5 & 7) 28.2. Matilda reveals she was present in the security room (After Event 5.1 & before Event 7). At the same time she takes out Git's Rolls which she during in Event 8. 28.3. Elise & Grimal reveal the events of Event 5 to the rest of Pub Team. 28.4. Grimals's burn scar is revealed. 28.5. "WHY DO YOU HAVE MY SMOKES?"

29. Grimal takes the Smokes from Matilda and returns them to Giles. 29.1 Giles discovers the Hunter Data 30. Matilda is discovered as (a) traitor. (Everyone believes she is the ghoul at this moment.) 31. Matilda enters her Glabro form (Partial transformation) and breaks her bindings. SHIT GOES OFF THE RAILS 31.1. Fight begins, D goes for Matilda's head, Matilda dodges narrowly. Elise assumes Matilda is a full vampire (This further throws off the full perception of the event as everyone is already primed for a vampire/ghoul not a werewolf) 31.2. Matilda begins to strangle D. 31.3. Matilda is shot by Occam. 31.4. Matilda's arm is cut off and she is thrown into the Pub counter top by D. 31.5. Grimal acts to free Harry, Elise, and Giles from their binds. 31.6. D runs from the washroom to the pub to stand besides Occam. 31.7. D reveals that Matilda is a Werewolf. 32. Matilda Transforms into her War Form (Crinos). 32.1. Matilda attacks Giles, Impales him, and rips off his hand to get the Data. 32.2. Remold shoots Matilda's hand (possibly) destroying the hunter data. (It may not be destroyed due to the position of the bullet and the subtitles containing a question mark). 33.3. Grimal attempts a surprise attack but is caught and flung across the room and smashes through the northern pub wall into the library.

33.4. Matilda attempts to finish Grimal off. 34. Weapons Team arrives in the library and opens fire on Matilda before she can kill Grimal. 34.1. D engages Matilda in melee combat. 34.2. Grimal moves to drag herself out of the way.

35. Weapons team is fully joined by Remold & D. 36. Matilda realizes she has another option (Either due to being outnumber or going after the objective) and uses (I assume) a Werewolf Gift and breaks through the library wall into the Security Room. 37. Security Team (Marckus + Brok) are launched off the 2nd story of the Chapter House but manage to land somewhat safely. 37.1. Matilda exits the Chapter house via the security room hole as Security Team fall. 37.2. Brok attempts to attack Matilda with the Blacklaw family CHAIR. He is ineffective. 37.3. Matilda moves to grab Brok (Based on her stance and her later grabbing of Marckus I'm making the educated guess she was intending to capture Brok originally and not flay him.) 37.4. Marckus pushes Brok out of the way of Matilda's grasp. 38. Marckus is captured. 39. D jumps out of the 2nd story hole in the security room and attempts to cleave Matilda, she dodges. 39.1. Brok joins D on the ground, Weapons Team stands in the security room hole. 39.2. Weapons Team opens fire. 39.3. D attempts to close the distance between himself and Matilda. 40. Matilda escapes into the Umbra, successfully kidnapping Marckus. AND THOSE ARE THE EVENTS OF ARC 2 (so far) IN (near) CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER! Jeepers this is a LONG one. I just had to sort all this out in my head cause I'm currently trying to solve the Ghoul Problem (Since there IS still a ghoul going unaccounted for.) (Ghoul Problem, Different post later) I hope I got everything correct (I'm pretty sure I did); maybe Chapter 6 comes out and reveals actually time isn't real who KNOWS FOR SURE! CORRECTIONS (w/ Original mistakes for transparency) 1. At 32.2. I originally said "32.2. Occam shoots Matilda's hand" which was incorrect whoopsy it was Remold idk how that happened. (Pointed out by foster-clockworker) 2. 32.1 I accidently referred to Giles (Git) as Simon (Spit); I tried to go for their real names since they're more distinct but yeah whoopsy! (Pointed out by wrath-sos-dovah)

Little Shop of Horrors takes place sometime in the early 60s, but it's hard to pin down the exact year. A radio broadcast mentions President Kennedy, so that narrows it down to 1961, 1962, or 1963. During the song Feed Me (Git It), one of the offers Audrey II waves in Seymour's face is a "guest spot on Jack Paar." Jack Paar hosted the Tonight Show from July 29, 1957 to March 30, 1962. The opening line of the movie says that the events took place on the 23rd day of the month of September, so if we assume Jack Paar was still on the air when Audrey II mentioned him, then 1962 and 1963 are off the table, meaning is has to be 1961, right? Well, after Seymour kills Mr. Mushnik allows Audrey II to kill Mr. Mushnik, we get a short montage of offers and contracts and magazine covers to establish that Seymour's star is rising. One of the covers is a TV Guide for the week of October 6 - 12.

October 6th was a Sunday in 1963, not 1961, so that complicated things until I googled existing TV Guides and learned that they don't start the week on Sunday, but Saturday instead.

April 23 - 29, 1983 (Saturday to Friday) December 27, 1980 - January 2, 1981 (Saturday to Friday)

October 6 - 12 was a Saturday to Friday in 1962.

If we assume Audrey II just pulled the first famous talkshow host name it could think of regardless of whether or not he was still on the air, then 1962 remains our best bet because in the director's cut ending where the plants take over the world there's one shot of Audrey II bursting through a movie theater marquee advertising Jason and the Argonauts, a Ray Harryhausen movie which premiered June 13, 1963.

Little Shop of Horrors starts on September 23, 1962.

Seymour gets his face on the cover of Life and the TV Guide the following month.

Audrey II would hit store shelves just in time for Christmas, spreading around the country faster than hula hoops and the Twist, taking over the world sometime in the new year.

Here's some fun Leif Lore for you; I dropped out of my creative writing degree almost a decade ago, because apparently a combo of Life Stress and undiagnosed ADHD is really bad for academic success. Who knew? 

More importantly, a year ago today I opened a google doc and wrote, “Harriet went to Oxford the September after they threw Venetia's stone into the pond.” And I kept writing. And kept writing. And- well, you get the idea, we're coming up on 700k words, there's a reason I call it The Behemoth. 

In the past year I have done a lot. Moving house. Completing my apprenticeship. Lots of Gender Things. But I honestly consider You're Almost Home to be one of my greatest achievements. Not just because of the word count, but because my writing has made so many people happy. It's brought back a creative drive I thought I'd lost. It's brought me community and friendship. I've inspired people. 

I'm also going to be a soppy git here, but I mean it- I could not have done this alone. Every like, hit, kudos, comment, tumblr ask, discord message, ao3 bookmark, whatever, it gives my ADHD brain the chemicals I need to keep on going. So if you've interacted with YAH in any way… Thank you.

GIT Font and PNG Generator

This post by @pichikui was the spark of inspiration for this whole project.

I'm super excited to share this project (though it's in beta stage) The first part is a font family based off of the glitch in time ghost speak codex.

The second part is PNG Image Generator that can copy the GIT font to the system clipboard as PNG, download it as PNG, and copy an HTML template to paste into AO3. If you are unsure how to embed images into AO3, please consult this tutorial on the topic.

As I previously stated, this project is still in beta, so if you guys find any bugs or issues, feel free to reach out. I'm also open to collab as well.

Necromancy, the practice of magic involving communication with the dead by summoning their spirits, a certain act that Simon wasn't familiar with. Yet, at least. He’s been browsing through local libraries whenever he isn't deployed, researching on this topic. It never really piqued his interest to begin with, you know? Well, not until Johnny brought it up once. It stuck with him since.

“Aye whin ah die L.T., mak' sure tae git an ouija boord or learn necromancy sae we kin still talk.” He joked, already tipsy from the amount of alcohol in his system. Simon knew he was kidding, the man was bloody drunk after all. The idea didn't seem..horrible though. Would it really work? Could he still talk with Johnny or the other undead by simply using a haunted board or using witchcraft?

Now that Johnny really was gone, it wouldn't hurt to try it out, right? Simon chose to use the Ouija board first as it looked easier than to learn literal black magic. And did it work? It definitely did! Except he wasn't talking to Johnny’s spirit, instead he was talking to a fucking demon. That could also be the late Sergeant messing with him but he wasn't taking any chances of being possessed by an actual demon, he had enough demons he was fighting internally, he didn't need any more. So he turned to the last option in his book which was learning necromancy, which certainly wasn't easier.

First, he went and browsed the endless world wide web, finding tips and tricks of what you're supposed to do or not do. It was quite useful, being able to learn in the comfort of his own house was convenient. One of the few downsides of researching on the net is the fact that the internet was a cobweb of all sorts of false information, just waiting for the users to fall right into their sticky trap. Simon wasn't one of them though, he wasn't one to trust that easily, especially strangers. So he went to the public library, a place he hasn't been to in years.

It felt like he was out of place to say the least, every heavy step he took made the aged floorboards creak, earning the librarian’s stern glare every time while he nodded his head to silently apologize. So far, the most important thing he learned to keep in mind in necromancy is respect. After all, it was the undead he was disturbing. To never forget to say things like “please” and “thank you” deemed easy enough. Sure he was a cold-hearted man, a lot of people were skeptical if he even had one in him, but he wasn't a disrespectful man. So he kept these things in mind, they were easy enough to do anyway.

So, after months of researching he finally decided to start his very first ritual. He got some chalk, some white candles to repel any negative spirit, he would've chosen to use tea candles but that wasn't the better option. Get it? Because Brits like tea? Well there were a bunch of different methods he could've used, but he chose this so it better work. He was taking this chance, the chance to speak to Johnny again, to properly say goodbye.

At last, it was time. It was the dead of night, Simon decided to perform the ritual in an abandoned building. He managed to accurately set everything up, proving that the months of studying necromancy was worth it. Then, he started the long awaited ritual. It started out smoothly, with him reciting chants and doing whatever was required for him to do. He was anticipating to hear an annoying Scottish accent to come out soon, but instead he heard..a high pitched voice? From what he could tell, it was no doubt a woman. Shit, did he just summon the spirit of an unknown dead woman? Well he had to deal with this, he can only hope it wasn't a hostile spirit. It’s his responsibility now, he can't just shove your soul back into the afterlife.

“I was having a really good rest, ya know..” The spirit starts. “Until a certain someone here decided to ruin it.” She glares at the masked man in front of her, making Simon feel like he was being pierced by sharp needles. “Sorry, that wasn't my intention.” He states the truth, sighing when he realizes his first attempt at speaking to Johnny failed. He should clean up and get going before he pisses you off even more. So he does just that, cleaning up after himself and packing up. “Hey hey, stop right there big guy.” She calls out, disappearing from where she was and reappearing right in front of him.

“You bothered my peaceful slumber, now I’m bothering you!” She announces proudly as if she had just said the best idea for vengeance. Okay, maybe it was because Simon’s ears were already starting to ring from your voice. “Sure, go follow me or whatever.” He said with an indifferent tone, he’s been through the worst things. Things that also caused his ear to ring and rupture, so he could surely handle this. From what he could tell, you seemed like you just wanted to provoke him. That's fine, at least you meant no harm. Physically at least.

And so, you did indeed follow him. No matter the occasion, rainy or sunny, you’d be right there beside him like a pesky shadow. Unless he went to the bathroom, that's where you’d finally cross the line. You still waited for him out the door like a clingy dog though. That was when he was not deployed though, you weren't exactly aware of him being a lieutenant..Sure his room seemed very soldier-like and had remnants of proof all over but he could've been just a military enthusiast or something!

Now here he was, packing all of the essentials as he prepares for deployment while you watch him intently. “Seriously? 3-in-1 shampoo? It's not even scented!” She bitches, concerned about his hygiene routine. “It's efficient and convenient.” He answers dryly, continuing to shove all of the necessities in his bags. “Where are you going anyways? Vacation?” To which he scoffs at, do you really think he's bringing a pistol to a vacation? “Did the afterlife take all of your wits too? I’m getting deployed.”

“..Deployed?” She questions. “I’m in the army.” And with that, her eyes are as wide as saucers. “Excuse me, no wait–excuse you? And you never bothered mentioning it to me once!” Then he cuts you off. “You never bothered to tell me your name. I think we're in pretty similar situations.” Her mouth is instantly zipped, he did have a point. “Oh right..well it isn't too late to get to know each other, big guy.”

“Stop calling me ‘big guy’.” “Then tell me your name. Look, I’ll even start. My name is Y/N, nice to meet you.” She starts, holding out her hand as she expects a handshake from him. Because that's how proper formal introductions start! “Ghost.” He replies blankly, getting a raised eyebrow from you. “That's it?” She sulks. “Just an alias, that's enough.”

‘What a killjoy’ she thinks, why couldn't someone more interesting make her come to life! Like maybe a group of rebellious teens or anyone but like this ‘Ghost’ guy! “Well then ‘Ghost’, let's get to know each other!” She insists. “I won't be talking to you when I’m deployed, don't want the soldiers thinking I’m a madman.” She whines, how much did she sin during her lifetime to deserve such dull torture? Before she could even open her mouth to complain, he spoke up. “If you dislike haunting me then just leave.” “I can't.” She tells, and Simon has never seen you this quiet before.

“I bet I owe you some kind of explanation huh? Looks like you didn't research enough on this necromancing disturbing the dead shit.” He nodded, admitting his mistake. “Whoever awakes the undead is the only one who can put them to rest again, you have to perform another ritual for it. So if I don't stop following you, I could possibly lose you and permanently wander as a ghost forever. I don't want that, none of the undead does.” She explained, the words are hard to get out of her. While the masked man nodded in understanding, that's why she acted like she was glued to him like honey. He thought about it, it did seem pretty shitty. You can only do so much, going around as a ghost doesn't seem like the funnest thing in the world.

“I see. Just..stick by me or whatever.” There's something in him that doesn't wanna get rid of her just yet, maybe it's his conscience? Yeah, that was for sure it. It would feel like he was purposely putting someone back in their grave, the soil being used to bury them a little too familiar to other experiences. The woman blinks a few times, burning straight through his soul as she stares at him before nodding. Looks like he was in no rush to get rid of her, that's nice. She’ll stay by his side the whole time, whether he likes it or not.

I was reading DunMeshi and was so confused by this phrase that I decided to look it up

(Do correct me if you think this isn’t accurate cuz I just used google)

But I find it frankly hilarious that Chilchuck is using slang from various parts of the British Isles out of nowhere in the last volume??

(I’ve now had someone explain to me that apparently it’s not uncommon for certain uncommon types of informal Japanese to be translated as slang from specific areas, typically around Britain, in English)

First of all I’d alr seen people jokingly headcanoning him as Irish on here (which was an idea I absolutely love)

ALSO I come from a part of the UK where I’m very familiar with the term ‘git’ but had never heard of a version with an e and I also had no idea it meant the same as ‘bastard’

(I have considered that this could just be the regular meaning of the word ‘get’ but I thought it wouldn’t grammatically make sense here so I assumed it was slang esp cuz he would totally call someone a git)

Anyways I’ve checked other translations and it’s not the same so I find it so funny that this one (which I’m pretty sure is the official English translation) included it
