Hi. I just wanted to say that I read and completely agree with your post about koopas (that don't live in the Dark Lands) being peaceful creatures in modest little communities. I wanna add my own headcanon that Koopa Village (PM64) was a community originally founded way back by former Dark Land inhabitants seeking a quiet life different from the one they left behind, while Petalburg (PMTTYD) was founded well before the Dark Lands even had a political presence (easter eggs suggest it is canonically older than the Thousand-Year Door itself), so its koopa inhabitants never even had family ties to the Koopa Troop and have only heard second-hand rumors of Bowser's terrifying regime.
Also, since you're on vacation as of me sending this ask, you'll presumably be done with vacation by the time you read it. So, I'll just say, I hope your vacation was a good one.
Oh hello! 👀 My apologies for the late response! I'm bad at sorting through messages and a few of them sometimes get a little buried. 🙇‍♀️
I'm glad you share the same headcanon regarding koopas! :) 🤝 I love exploring concepts that give more depth to certain characters, and typical enemies/secondary adversaries are obviously no exception! Same goes with goombas and bob-ombs. I think it's only fair to assume that in other realms and territories situated far away from the conflict (and from Bowser's domineering reign especially), these species would have no reason to attack or show hostility, and would thus develop their own tranquil ways of living. The idea of some villages having been founded by actual troops purposely leaving their ranks to seek a more peaceful life is one that I really like, and their descendants having no ties with the conflict whatsoever makes this all the more interesting. 👏
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and for your nice wishes! 😊🩵

For the happy ending au
Besides bleck and his family what other people also lives in their village?
That is a good question. I am not entirely sure.
I would imagine a mix of different people. Thinking the main types of residents you would find are Flipside/Flopside residents, Toads, Goombas, Beanish and maybe Koopas.
If you are asking for more significant characters it would just be Count Bleck's minions and Merlon's family.
I hope this answers your question!

Yes, Paper Mario is canon
This has been something the Mario lore community has largely accepted since 2015, but it seems a lot of newer folk aren’t quite so filled in! I’m writing this post to be a quick way to catch people up on the subject. This post is also adapted from a Reddit post, which can be read here. Same experience either way, more or less!
Part 1: For Context
The Paper Mario games tell stories of Mario’s adventures through an arts and crafts or pop-up book aesthetic. This is because from the very beginning, the Paper Mario games were meant to be set in a book that retold Mario’s adventures, but were accurate depictions of the mainline Mario universe.
Since our first priority was to protect the atmosphere and setting of the Mario universe, we decided to only use characters from the mainline Mario games. The side characters from Super Mario RPG therefore do not appear. I think that with Mario, sticking to the “main road” is the best. Plus, it would feel weird to have heavy themes like “betrayal” in the overall cozy, heartwarming atmosphere of the Mario world. (laughs)
- Ryota Kawade, Chief Director of Paper Mario (Nintendo 64)
We spent close to a year and a half trying out different character ideas. We also tried using pre-renders like SMRPG, but we figured it would be more fun for us to attempt something completely different this time, and that paper-y Mario was the result.
- Hiroyasu Sasano, Support on Paper Mario (Nintendo 64)
Herringway said he definitely wants to write your story. He even came up with a title... What was it again? Let's see... Well... "Paper Mario"!! What do you think!!??
- A Penguin, Non-player character in Paper Mario (Nintendo 64)
A real Mario Story told through the perspective of a storybook. Not at all dissimilar from what Dr. Mario 64, Mario Party 6, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker all do.
This carries through to later games such as Paper Mario: Color Splash as well:
…I think one thing is that because this is taking place within the greater Mario world, we wanted to focus as much as possible on the familiar Mario characters.
- Risa Tabata, Assistant Producer of Paper Mario: Color Splash
This establishes the Paper Mario games as canonical events which also happen in the world of mainline Mario games, but despite this the developers were not afraid to have some fun with the aesthetic they were working with.
Although not the main focus, many paper-based gags were present in the world from the start.
Actually, the very first challenge Mr. Kawade and others had to face was how to cowince Mr. Miyamoto. For example, we had to explain how we'd utilise the idea of things being flimsy like paper to a large degree in the final game. The utilisation of paper-like elements was more of an 'improvemert' for him than an 'innovation' since the original idea was there with the N64 version.
- Kenshiro Ueda, Coordinator on Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Paper Mario:
- Characters are flat like paper and when they turn around their body turns like a sheet.
- In the intro sequence of the game, Kammy Koopa is taped into the story being told about the Star Spirits.
- The Star Spirits get turned into cards by Bowser and Kammy Koopa.
- When the veranda in Goomba Village falls and Mario fallls after it, he floats down safely like a piece of paper.
- When Mario rests in a bed, he similarly floats into it like a piece of paper.
- A Goomba masquerades as a picture on a signpost on Goomba Road.
- The clouds in the background of Goomba Road battles are held up with sticks.
- Mario enters and exits a pipe by folding like paper and spinning around its edges], which a Toad in Toad Town even calls attention to.
- Some Goombas lie down flat on top of blocks to hide from passers-by.
- Merlee folds Mario into cards when she casts her spell.
- Stilt Guys fall down as pieces of paper when entering General Guy’s Battle.
- A Star Kid in Starborn Valley “hides” by turning sideways.
- The stairs in the Crystal Palace unfold from the wall.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door:
- Characters are flat like paper and when they turn around their body turns like a sheet.
- The fallen heroes of 1000 years ago place Curses on Mario, allowing him to turn flat, fold himself and transform into origami, such as a Paper Plane or Paper Boat.
- Boats turn around by rising out of the water before flipping around like a piece of paper.
- Mario enters and exits a pipe by folding like paper and spinning around its edges.
- The transition screen for entering an exiting a pipe crumples the screen like a page.
- When people in Rogueport are knocked down, they fall completely flat, parallel to the floor.
- When Mario enters a building, its walls and door unfold to reveal the interior.
Super Paper Mario:
- Characters are flat like paper and when they turn around their body turns like a sheet.
- The magical ability to “flip between dimensions”, going between 2-D and 3-D.
- Areas are “drawn” into existence when the characters first enter them.
- The Pixl Slim has the ability to turn the heroes “invisible”, represented by turning them sideways.
- Spiny Tromps are made out of cardboard.
- Sometimes a piece of paper will peel away to reveal a secret, such as a hidden chest.
- When turning into her spider-like form, Mini’s head unfolds like a piece of paper.
- At one point, Mimi says “I guess I'll congratulate you... by tearing you to little bits like stupid confetti!”
- Mario enters and exits a pipe by separating into and reforming from smaller pieces of paper, respectively.
- The transition screen for entering an exiting a pipe crumples the screen like a page.
- When Brobot enters battle, the screen is torn like a sheet of paper to transition from one scene to the next.
- One if the Sammer Guys, “Rolling Thwomp”, says “I ROLL OVER YOU AND MAKE YOU FLAT LIKE SHEET OF PAPER!”
- When Luigi performs his Super jump move, he folds himself like a piece of paper to charge before springing into the air.
- The audience that appears for Stylish Moves have jagged paper outlines surrounding their bodies.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star
- Characters are flat like paper and when they turn around their body turns like a sheet.
- Kersti’s magical “Paperize” ability makes the world “become as flat as a piece of paper”.
- Certain enemies such as Goombas use magic, likely provided by Bowser, to fold themselves into dangerous shapes.
- A stack of Toads act like a flight of stairs for Mario Warm Fuzzy Plains.
- Decalburg gets partially folded by Bowser’s magic.
- The Soggy status effect appears to temporarily affect Mario as water would a piece of paper.
Paper Mario: Color Splash
- Characters are flat like paper and when they turn around their body turns like a sheet.
- Huey’s magical Cutout ability “transcends dimensions” and cuts parts of the world like paper.
- Huey’s squeeze ability turns objects into paper.
- Magic Paint plays a major role, with it being sucked out of the denizens of Prism Island and used by Mario to restore the island to its former state.
- A Toad is turned into a letter by Bowser’s forces and mailed to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Paper Mario: the Origami King
- Characters are flat like paper and when they turn around their body turns like a sheet.
- The Origami Craftsman uses the magical Fold of Life technique to bring his Origami Creations to life.
- King Olly uses the magical Fold of Life technique to transform Bowser’s Army, Princess Peach and the Vellumentals into Folded Soldiers while turning the Toads into various Origami creatures.
- King Olly uses magic to bring the Origami Craftsman’s tools to life and make them giant, creating the Legion of Stationary.
- Mario and Olivia use Magic Circles to transform themselves using Origami Techniques, such as the 1,000-Fold Arms.
- The Toads and Mario in the Temple of Shrooms have holes punched in them by the Hole Punch and Bowser’s Minions are cut up by the Scissors guarding the castle. All of these magical effects are undone upon the bosses’ defeats.
With all that taken into account, it’s clear that this is genuinely a Paper World. However, since we also know that these events are supposed to take place in the real world, the only possibility is that the Paper Mario games depict events, locations and characters that exist in both the real world and the Paper World. We see these events from the perspective of the Paper World, but everything still happens in the real world without the paper aesthetics.
The opposite also applies, with all of the adventures the real Mario has been on occurring in the Paper World, with the paper aesthetics.
Part 2: How it Developed
In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, the lore of the Paper Mario world is greatly expanded upon. We learn that it’s a “parallel world” located within a legendary magical book. For the first (and as of writing this, only) time, we see the Mario cast interact with their Paper counterparts. This has lead some people to believe that the Paper Mario games didn’t occur in the real world, with Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam retconning what had already been established, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In fact, in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam the opposite is implied. The game constantly calls attention to how the two worlds are exactly parallel through character dialogue. Some examples of this are Kamek and Paper Kamek coming up with the same plan to betray each other at the exact same moment and have the same proceeding conversation with their respective Bowsers, or when Peach and Paper Peach talk about themselves on Mount Brrr, realising how their lives and personalities are the same and even coming to the conclusion that they are the same person.
This was wholly intentional on the developers’ parts, with the core of the game being focused on showing inner depth to these personalities through interactions with their doubles:
Mario and Paper Mario, Princess Peach and Paper Princess Peach…It was fun to create interactions between different versions of the same character who come from different worlds like these examples. For this game, we created themes for each of the interactions between the main characters. We emphasized the characters’ personalities for each of the character interactions, such as Mario being curious about Paper Mario’s special abilities and trying to see if he can use them himself (even though both Mario and Paper Mario are the heroes of their respective worlds), the two Princess Peaches talking about girl stuff, the Bowser Jrs. getting along immediately like old friends, etc.
- Shunsuke Kobayashi, Director of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
Plenty of other games set in the real world have also referenced the events of Paper Mario games, further proving they occurred in the real world:
- Goomboss, who was created by Bowser using the Star Rod in Paper Mario, goes on to appear in Super Mario 64 DS and Mario Kart DS.
- Dry Dry Desert from Paper Mario appears in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, with Dry Dry Ruins, which were discovered during Paper Mario, appearing in Mario Kart Wii.
- Bowser’s Castle from Paper Mario, which was created by Bowser using the Star Rod, reappears in Mario Kart: Super Circuit’s Rainbow Road.
- Goombette from Super Mario Odyssey is pink, just like the other female Goombas previously seen in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door.
- Snowmen from Paper Mario reappear in various games in the Mario Kart series with the same appearance.
- The Mystery Egg item, featured in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, is a reference to Mini-Yoshi’s Egg from Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door.
- Sky Guys from Paper Mario reappear in Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Strikers: Battle League.
- Red Chomps from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario reappear in a movie projected by the WarioWare: Touched! souvenir “Reel-to-Reel”, as well as on the Pyramid Park board in Mario Party 7.
- Suits of Koopatrol armor from Paper Mario, Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario appear in Bowser’s Villa on Vibe Island in Super Princess Peach.
- Koopatrols themselves appear in Mario Pinball Land.
- Whackas from Paper Mario, Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario appear in Mario Party 6 on the Snowflake Lake board.
- The Snow Bunny item from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door appears in Mario Party 6 on the Snowflake Lake board.
- The Headbonk move that Goombas perform in the Paper Mario series returns as an attack in Minion Quest: the Search for Bowser and Bowser Jr.’s Journey.
- The Star Spirits from Paper Mario reappear as hosts in Mario Party 5.
- Bowser Sphinx appears with Tutankoopa’s Headdress from Paper Mario on the Pyramid Park board in Mario Party 7.
- The names of Goombario, Kooper, Bombette, Moustafa and Tubba Blubba from Paper Mario appear on the scoreboards in Mario Golf: Advance Tour and Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
- Hammer Bros. appear with their uniforms from Paper Mario in Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
- In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga there’s a room in the Woohoo Hooniversity that contains blocks Mario has encountered in his past adventures. Amongst these are blocks from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World and Super Mario 64, with a block from Paper Mario also appearing.
- Green Magikoopas, Red Magikoopas, Yellow Magikoopas and White Magikoopas from Paper Mario and Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door reappear in Minion Quest: the Search for Bowser, Bowser Jr.’s Journey, Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Sports Superstars.
- Dark Boos from Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door reappear in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
- Recovery Blocks from Paper Mario, Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door and Paper Mario: Sticker Star reappear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
- Star Haven from Paper Mario, is mentioned in the intro of the Japanese version of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
The lore of the Paper Mario games in general is also clearly of great importance to the series as a whole, with Super Mario Galaxy’s Power Star lore being directly pulled from the original Paper Mario in large part.
With that, it’s clear that all of these stories, locations and characters indeed exist in Mario’s real world as well as the Paper World.
Part 3: Wrapping it Up
Finally, I’d like to address some common questions that people are left with.
Is it possible that only some Paper Mario games happened in the real world, while others happened in the Paper World?
No. The events of all of the Paper Mario games happened in both the real world and Paper World. It’s made clear that all of the Paper Mario games happen in the same universe as each other, and therefore all occur in both worlds:
- Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door has many callbacks to Paper Mario, through locations like Mario’s House or Dry Dry Desert and characters like Parakarry, Kammy Koopa, Lady Bow, Jr. Troopa and Moustafa.
- Super Paper Mario features portraits of Mario’s partners from Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in Mario’s House, as well as Catch Cards depicting them.
- Notes belonging to Goombella from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Parakarry from Paper Mario can be found in the trash scraps of Shy Guy Jungle in Paper Mario Sticker Star.
- In Paper Mario: The Origami King, photos of Princess Peach from all previous Paper Mario games can be seen.
How do certain paper-y mechanics work in the real world, such as the Curses in Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door or the Folded Soldiers in Paper Mario: the Origami King?
While many of the paper-y elements of the Paper Mario games can merely be acknowledged as gags and nothing more, story relevant ones like these still make sense within the real world.
Real World characters can be turned into paper, cut, folded or molded without major consequences. As seen in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, magical abilities like the Trio Attacks have the capability to turn real world enemies into paper, before cutting or folding them without any “real world” consequences outside of dealing normal damage. Keeping in mind that the Curses in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Origami Techniques in Paper Mario: The Origami King are too both magical in nature, it makes perfect sense.
Additionally, the real Mario games are no stranger to cartoonish gags as well. Looking to the Mario & Luigi series, for example, in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Luigi is able to be squashed into the shape of a surfboard, while in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Luigi swims through the air to reach the blimp. Additionally, in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Bowser Inside Story and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Mario is able to be blown up like a balloon or filled to the brim with water.
In the Mario Kart series, characters can be flattened like paper by being crushed by a player with a Mega Mushroom or by obstacles such as Thwomps on the track, before the effect wears off soon afterwards.
In Mario Super Sluggers, a Koopa Troopa hides within a poster, identically to how a Goomba hid on a sign in Paper Mario.
Stickers from Paper Mario: Sticker Star are not natural to the Mushroom Kingdom. The Stickers come from the Sticker Star, and rain down over the Decalburg region once a year when the Sticker Comet arrives.
The magical Paint found in Paper Mario: Color Splash is consistently described as a life force throughout Paper Mario: Color Splash:
“You know... paint! That colourful stuff coursing through our bodies?”
“The paint you just absorbed is basically my blood, sweat and tears.”
“Paint adds beauty and life to the world.”
“Where exactly are we supposed to find this magical, life-giving paint you speak of?”
“I did basically sacrifice my lifeblood to get you out of that pickle back there...”
“They’re sucking the very life out of this beautiful island!”
Paint also appears as a sort of “life force” in various games that take place in the real world, such as Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion and Bowser’s Fury. When Things, real world objects, are wrung out in Paper Mario: Color Splash, they too produce paint, proving that paint is not a substance exclusive to the Paper World.
Conclusion
The Paper Mario games occur in both the Paper World and the real world, but we see them from the perspective of the Paper World. All of the events, locations and characters from the Paper Mario series exist in the real world, with the events, locations and characters from the real Mario series existing in the Paper World.
Thank you for reading!

Chapter 1: Prologue
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once Upon a 'Time in a faraway land, a Old King lived in a shining castle.
Although he had everything his heart desired, the King was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold.
Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the King sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted
awav to reveal...
...a beautiful Enchantress.
The King tried to apologize, but it was too late. For she had seen that there was no love in his heart. As punishment, she transformed him...
...into a hideous Beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there.
Ashamed of his monstrous form, the Beast concealed himself inside his castle with a Magic Mirror as his only window to the outside world.
The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom for many years.
If he could learn to love another and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not.. he would be doomed to remain a Beast for all time.
As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a Beast?
~3 Years Later~
“I’m off to the bookstore!!” shouted a robot with rabbit ears, wearing a white sleeve shirt, around his shirt collar was a black bow, and he was wearing black pants with blue trimming at the bottom. Also, wearing black shoes.
“Be back by 11 Beep-O!!” his sister declared from the other room. “Right. Right. Bye see you later Jeanie~!” said Beep-O taking his satchel bag and putting it over his shoulders. “Bye Papa! Stay safe!” said and small t.v robot.
“I will. Take care of your aunt and Spawny for me,” said Beep-O patting his son’s head. “Mhm!” he hummed. “R2!!! Can you please come over?!” shouted Jeanie from the other room. “Coming!!!” he yelled back.
R2 hopped out of his seat and ran over to where his Aunt was. “Alright, let’s get this chore over with..” the intelligent robot muttered.
~Cue Birds Singing~
Beep-O walking away from his house, twirling himself self around and sing, “Little town.. It's a quiet village.. Every day.. Like the one before.. Little town full of little people
Waking up to say..”
Beep-O walking in town hearing many Toads/Rabbids/Koopas/Goombas/Creatures singing, “Bonjour!”
“Bonjour!~” sang a Toad opening her window.
“Bonjour!!” a Goomba open their Apple Stand.
“Bonjour!!!” a Paratroopa opened their Newspaper stand.
“Bonjour~!” a Drybones was in his jail.
“There goes the baker with his tray like always the same old bread and rolls to sell..” sang Beep-O seeing a Red Toad carrying his karts of bread, passing by Beep-O saying a short ‘hello’
“Every morning just the same since the morning that we came to this poor provincial town..” Beep-O shook his head. The same Red Toad walked up to Beep-O and said, “Morning Beep-O!”
“Morning Monsieur!” he replied back.
“Where you off to?” he asks.
“The Bookstore,” he answered, “I just finished reading the most wonderful story!! About a Princess who got kidnapped by a K-” he explained, but got cut off by Toad saying, “That’s nice, Cloud! The baguettes! Hurry up!!”
Beep-O sighed and continued his walk his way to the bookstore. Passing by some Toadettes. “Look there he goes that boy is strange no question!” they sang.
“Dazed and distracted, can't you tell?”
“Never part of any crowd
'Cause her heads up on some cloud”
“No denying he’s a funny lad that Beep-O!!”
“Bonjour!” a Koopa greeted the Toadette.
“Good day!” a young Toad lifts his cap, greeting the elderly woman respectfully.
“How is your family?” a Goomba asks politely to the other Goomba.
“Bonjour!” a Hammer Bro greeted a Rabbid.
“Good Day!” a Toadette sighs, “How is your wife?” she asks the Shy Guy, who got smacked in the head.
“I need six eggs!” wailed a female Koopa, trying to carry all her kids.
“That’s too expensive..” a male toad mumbled looking at all the jewelry.
“There must be more than this provincial life!!!” Beep-O sang, finally arriving at the Bookstore.
The door swings open, and the bell rings as G.G stops what she’s doing and looks over to see her friend. “Ah! Beep-O! Good Morning!” she chimed. “Good morning, I've come to return the book I borrowed..!” said Beep-O handing her back the book. “Finished, already?” she chuckled.
“Ohhh, I couldn't put it down!! Have you got anything new?” he asks, climbing on the ladder, searching for new books to read.
G.G shook her head, “Nope! Not since yesterday!!” she said, setting the book down. “That’s alright!” he said, picking up a blue book. “I’ll borrow this one!!” he exclaimed. “That one?! But you read it twice!!” she said.
“Well, it's my favorite
Far off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!!” said Beep-O moving his whole body, the ladder rolling left and right.
G.G chuckled, “If you like it all that much, it’s yours!”
“But G.G!!-” Beep-O exclaimed, climbing down.
“I insist.” she said, “Go on a thank you for being a great friend.”
“Thank you G.G..!! Thank you very much! I will repay you!!” said Beep-O, leaving the bookstore and passing by nosey Rabbids who were watching this whole scene.
“Look there he goes that boy is so peculiar?”
“I wonder if he’s well?”
“With a dreamy far off look and his nose stuck in a book!!”
“What a puzzle to the rest of us, is Beep-O!!!”
Beep-O sitting on the stone fountain, showing some young Rabbids are his favorite chapter. “Ohhhhh, isn’t this amazing?”
The Young Rabbid children look over at the Chapter. Very confused about what's written on it. “It's my favorite part because you'll see..” as he pointed to the picture, showing the children. “Here's where she meets Prince
Charming.. But she won't discover that it's him 'til chapter three..”
“Now it's no wonder that his name means 🎶🎵🌟❣️” said an Old Lady, tightening her curls. “His looks have got no parallel.. But behind that fair facade, I'm afraid he's rather odd…” she murmured.
“Very different from the rest of us
He's nothing like the rest of us
Yes, different from the rest of us is
Beep-O!!!”
A bunch of Ducks were flying in the sky, heading their way south, until a loud Bang can be heard. Shooting that poor duck…
The duck fell to the ground, but was picked up by a flatter(?) Rabbid. Woodrow sighed, “Poor Duck.. I will write a poem for you later..” he mumbled. Putting the duck in the bag quickly. “Wow.. You didn't miss a shot, Phantom!! You're the greatest hunter in the whole world!” Woodrow praised his friend.
Tom Phantom chuckled, “I know~” he smirked. Polishing his gun. The Tom Phantom. The famous Beast Hunter. He may be a ghost, but uhhh- Hmmm. What can he do? Float through walls? Yeah, that checks out. (Imagine a Siren singing and leading you to your doom)
“No beast alive stands a chance against you!!!” he said, “And no boy (and girl) for that matter!!”
“Its true Woodrow..” he mumbled, fixing his sleeves. He wrapped his arm around Woodrow, pulling him closer. “And I've got my sights set on that one,” he said, pointing his gun at Beep-O.
“The- The inventor’s brother?!” he stuttered in shock.
“He’s the one!” he purred. “The lucky one, I’m going to marry!!” he declared.
“B-But h-he’s-”
“The most handsome and intelligent boy in town~”
“I-I know, b-but..”
“That makes him the best.” He growled, glaring at Woodrow. Poor Woodrow his legs were shaking in fear. “And don’t I deserve the best?” He asks his partner. “W-Well.. o-o-of course y-you, d-d-do..!” He stuttered.
Tom Phantom dropped Woodrow. Woodrow face-planted on the ground softly whimpered a small ‘ow’
“Right from the moment when I met him, saw him
I said he's gorgeous and I fell here in town, there is only he, who is beautiful as me
So l'm making plans to woo and marry Beep-O~” he sang.
(Skiping The Girls who simp for- You know-)
“Bonjour!!” a Rabbids greeted Tom.
“Pardom.” said Tom Phantom trying to push his way towards Beep-O.
“You call this bacon?!” sneered a Blue Toad, holding straps of burned Bacon.
“What lovely grapes!!” a female Dry bones exclaimed.
“Some cheese, ten yards
One pound!”
” ‘scuse me!!” Tom Phantom grumbled.
”I’ll get the knife!” A younger Toad exclaimed. (Haha- Mom: What do you have there?
Gaz: A KNIFE!!
Mom: NOOO-)
“Please let me through!!” Tom pleaded.
“This bread, those fish-“ a female Rabbid pointed at the products.
“It stales. They smell.” A shy guy cross their arms.
“Madame’s mistaken-“ A Koopa said. The Rabbid agreed to him, “Well, maybe so-“
”There must be more than this provincial life…!” Beep-O sang, leaving town.
“Just watch, I'm going to make
Beep-P my (little) husband!!!” Tom Phantom declared, as the crowd began to cover Tom Phantom’s way.
”Look there he goes the lad is strange but special
A most peculiar Monsieur
It's a pity and a sin
He doesn't quite fit in
'Cause he really is a funny lad
A beauty/intelligent but a funny lad
He really is a funny lad
That Beep-O!!! (Bonjour! Bonjour!
Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour!)”
“Hello Beep-O!!” said Tom Phantom teleporting in front of him. Now why didn't he do that sooner-
Beep-O groaned, “Mother of Bowser..” he grumbled. Woodrow was running over to them, finally catching up to Tom. He was panting heavily. “Bonjour Tom and Woodrow..” Beep-O greeted the two of them. “Hello, Beep-O..! How is your sister and your kids?” Woodrow asks him, catching his breath. “They’re doing well-”
Beep-O was cut off by Tom Phantom grabbing Beep-O’s book, flipping through pages by pages. “Phantom. May I have my book, please?” he asked, trying to hide a hint of anger in his voice.
Tom Phantom ignores his ask. “How can you read this? There’s no pictures!” he said, sticking his tongue out. “Well, some people like to use their imagination,” said Beep-O crossing his arms. Woodrow nods his head, agreeing with Beep-O.
Tom Phantom throws away the book, “Well Beep-O it's about time you got your head out of these books and paid attention to more important things!” he said.
Beep-O groaned, “Like you?” he joked. Bend down and pick up his book. “Great it’s covered in mud..” he muttered, standing up. “Exactly! The whole town's talking about it. It's not right for a robot to read. Soon he starts getting ideas and... thinking!” the ghost grumbled, pacing back and forth. You see robots around these parts, are for service. They don’t think. They will only listen to orders. But in Beep-O’s case, he’s just an intelligent robot, who serves nobody. He is his own machine.
“Phantom, you are positively primeval!“ Beep-O glared at him. “Why, thank you, Beep-O. Whaddya say you and me take a walk over to the tavern and take a look at my trophies?” said Tom, wrapping his arms around him. Pulling him away from his way home.
“What do you say...we don't?” said Beep-O pushing Phantom’s arm away. Tom Phantom scoff. “Come on Beep-O, I think I know how you feel about me,” he said, holding Beep-O’s hand. Beep-O rolled his eyes, “You can't even imagine.” he mumbled, pulling his hand away. “If you excuse me. I need to head back home and help my sister.”
“That crazy lady. She needs all the help she can get!” Tom muttered, chuckling quietly. Beep-O’s ears twitch in annoyance, and his blue color turns to red. “Don’t talk about my sister that way!!!” he growled. Tom Phantom's expression turns to nervousness then to ‘anger’ bonking Woodrow’s head. “Yeah!! Don’t,” he growled. “Ow!!! What did I-I-?”
“My sister is not crazy!!! She’s a genius!!!” said Beep-O. A loud explosion can be heard, Beep-O turned around and saw his home covered in smoke. ‘Shit!!!’ His red color quickly turned to purple. (Concerned/Scared)
Beep-O hurriedly ran to his house, hearing Phantom howling with laughter.
“Jeanie!!! Jeanie!!” he shouted, opening the door quickly and going inside. “Jeanie!!!?” he shouts again.
“Over here!! *cough* I’m fine!!!”
Beep-O opened the door, to see smoke everywhere, but also see Jeanie covered in dust. “Oh Jeanie..” he mumbled. He ran over to her and checked if she had any injuries. “Don’t worry Beep-O..! I’m fine!!” she laughs. “Just.. a minor miss-calculation…”
“Can we come out now?” said a voice but it was quite muffled. “Yes, you can..” said Jeanie opening the barrel lid off. R2, Spawng, and a Rabbid pop their heads out of it.
“Sullivan? What are you doing here?” Beep-O asks the Rabbid who’s name is Sullivan. “Well, I’m on my break and decided to come here to visit my dear Jeanie~,” he said, with a lovely sigh. “Hey!!” R2 and Spawny pouted. “And come to see my soon-to-be nephews of course!” he said, getting out of the barrel. Helping R2 and Spawny out.
Beep-O ‘almost’ forgot Sullivan a and Jeanie were engaged fiánces. Sullivan proposed to Jeanie a few weeks ago. They don’t know when they will have their wedding, but once they do, Sullivan will be part of this little family of theirs.
“So, Jeanie what is your invention and why did it blow up?” Beep-O asks his sister.
“You know we had to buy power-ups? Well I decided to turn regular flowers into power-ups! But I regret putting a tiger Lily in the machine..” she muttered, ears going down.
“At least we know, not to put Tiger Lily’s in the machine?” Spawny laughs nervously. Jeanie nods her head, “Right..”
“Oh… I’m a failure guys… this stupid invention will never work…” she mumbled, her ears going down, and her light blue color turned to a dark shade.
“Oh Jeanie/Sis/Auntie..”
“Jeanie you are a genius!!”
“How Beep-O? I just make everything worse..”
“Not true! You make useful inventions in this house!”
“Like making a Spark feeder!” said R2.
“Oh! Oh! Also, make that telescope thingy to see who’s outside the door!!” Spawny added.
“And the invention of the radio to hear the Galaxy Network Music Podcast,” Beep-O added.
“Also to invent this special whistle!!” Sullivan added.
“See? All the things you invent help us!! Now Jeanie.. Don’t give up!!” said Beep-O, his expression having a determined face(?).
“Right..!” she nodded, quickly going to her invention, fixing some screws and bolts. A few minutes passed, and she put her wrench down. While her other hand was holding a red rose. “Ready?” she asks.
“Ready!!” They all shouted. Sullivan pulled the kids behind him and hid behind the barrel. Beep-O looks over to see what that train conductor Rabbid was doing. “Just in c-case!!” he stuttered. “Right..” Beep rolled his eyes.
“Here goes nothing!” As she put the Rose in the machine. Clogs were twirling and the machine was making lots of noise. “Please don’t explode.. Please don’t explode..” she prays. An item popped out. It was a Mushroom! A red mushroom to be exact. “I…I..I did it..” she muttered. “YOUUUUUU DIIIIIIIDDDD ITTTTT!!!” Beep-O shouted, hugging his sister and twirling her around. “BEEP-O!!! I DID IT! I DID IT!!!” she shouted, feeling so happy. Sullivan, R2, and Spawny came out of their hiding spots and quickly joined in the hug.
“See!? I know you can do it!!”
“You did it!!!”
“Now we have an infinite amount of power-ups!!!”
Beep-O and Jeanie chuckled as Beep-O set Jeanie down. “This calls.. For a celebration!!” Sullivan shouted. “YEAH!!” the kids agreed. “Oh, I wish hun.. But I got to go right now! Thethe contest is tomorrow!!” said Jeanie sadly.
“Awww..” the kids pouted. “Maybe when you come back..! When you win that is..!?” Sullivan suggests. “Right!”
~~~~~
“You pack food and water yes?” Beep-O asks for the 12th time. “And clothes?” he added.
“Yes and Yes. Don’t worry brother!” she said, putting her bags over Muffin’s back. (Horse Name)
“Make sure to bring gifts Auntie!!” said Spawny jumping up and down. “Lots of it..!” R2 added. “Boys.” Beep-O scolds them. “Haha! Will see you boys.”
“Be safe my love..” said Sullivan kissing her lips(?) gently. “I will.. And you should too..” she said, kissing(?) him back.
Spawny and R2 stick their tongues out. “Eww/Yuck!!”
Beep-O rolled his eyes. “Come on Sullivan, I want to tell her goodbye as well.” he huffed. Sullivan pulled away and chuckled sheepishly, “Right..”
“Be safe Jeanie.. Here are some power-ups.. Just to be safe..” said Beep-O handing her a little power-up bag. Inside have all kinds. Except for a star.. Now those are rare.
“Thank you..” she said, putting it in her dress pocket. “I’ll be back tomorrow! Wish me luck!” she said. “Come Muffin, let's go!”
As Jeanie and Muffin (The horse) walked away, Beep-O and the others saying goodbye. Hopefully nothing bad happened to her.. Right?

So, shells in the Mario world are not necessarily biological but more like a type of clothing and possibly power up with variations of a single shell. While not everyone remembers this but Koopas quite often could be kicked out of shells and run around without one Super Mario World, Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 64, etc. Even in the original Mario Bros the Shell Creepers exit their shells to flip it. In Paper Mario 64 the Koopas of Koopa Village have their shells stolen by Fuzzies, one Koopa mentions their shell is custom made, this shows them to be something that can be ordered and worn. This is further shown with characters like Bowser in the RPG games switching out shells, and Mario using the Blue Shell power up. They also seem to serve as power ups themselves Bowser gaining abilities from different shells, certain shells in Super Mario World being able to chase Mario down when piloted by a Koopa, or even how when a Yoshi eats the SMW shells he can spit fire or grow wings. The shells are probably made by a company that is connected to the Strike Equipment from Mario Kart who Mario Red, Green, Bowser, and Spiny shells for kart races. We also see shells being worn by non Koopa creatures as well that don't normally need shells like Goombas and Ant Troopers. Yoshis themselves could be a Koopa as mentioned in a previous post, and like Koopas they are born without their shells. Some shells might even be extra heavy causing Koopas to go on all 4.

The sentience of goombas between different Mario iterations is so funny to me. Odyssey talking about them like they're feral animals as if Goomba Village isn't 3 miles away.

Miss, idk how far your in your adventure but i got to tell you the:
Neskdor Tales
Or Blu and O'Chunks babysitting adventure. Whichever you prefer.
Not much happened either way.
Mimi had taken the two of them to Karaoke when God brought them to Miitopia. It was Mimi's turn to sing and she somehow brought the microphone with her. Chunky found a rusty sword at the back of a blacksmith, who let him have it when he saw him disarmed. Blu got higher education (because scientists kinda have a monocle, that's literally the only reason c;)
I've made the math and someone had to be axed. So Bowser is the Genie, because he's like one of the biggest characters. To be extra nice to him, all the Neskdor villagers are goombas, I'd like to think that there's more of the village in the foreground so the rest of his army is there. (I can't do Koopas in the 3ds version I've tried t-t)
Mimi and Lena the cartoon duck the imp clicked almost instantly. Lena gave Mimi a scenic photo one time. Mimi never gave anything back :V
Later Mimi put on a Wig to show off to Lena and they cleaned the room and sang together.
One time O'Chunks and the Count where exercising together and Blu's quote was "To protect my loved one!" the two times that happened.
He gave Chunks two presents but i forgot what it was.
Lena and Mimi where the one who found all the levers and hidden passages there's to find in the region. Although Blu was the one to astro-project.
Poor guys were apparently running after those two.
Two inns before the got snatched Lena told Mimi some Gossip about Blu and their reaction were basically "OMG that's so sad t-t" and i sincerely don't know what to say.
Anyway when i got the chance I'm Making Timpani a Tank, for funzies :D
I am in the process of saving my wayward party members >:0
i'm glad we both agreed that Mimi should be a popstar (and, really, O'Chunks is just obvious). (also you were right, Dimentio really does enjoy drinking the tears of his enemies)
now as is proper i must give you a summary of my own (mis)adventures so far
so i started with a party of me (cautious thief), O'Chunks (stubborn warrior), Mimi (energetic popstar), & Timpani (stubborn cleric). as you might expect, O'Chunks and Timpani were sometimes fighting because O'Chunks kept refusing heals and throwing away all of our potions. And Mimi wasn't a great singer. She was always the one riding the horse though.
But we generally all got along great. Mimi and I bonded over our agreement that wandering mage Blumiere was a pretty cool dude
Tumblr media
Then once my team got yoinked I switched to an aggressive cook (highly inaccurate, i can barely use the microwave) and brought in reserve members Dimentio (cool imp), Nastasia (airheaded mage), and Mr L (laid-back scientist). Nastasia isn't a fan of spicy meals, so I frequently made her resent me. Mr L proved suspiciously competent. He carried the entire battle to rescue genie!King Boo's face. Dimentio spent 90% of all battles stabbing me in the ass with a pitchfork. I'm trying to NOT rescue him.
Tumblr media
Most recently, I ran with a crowd of Mario (energetic cat), Peach (kind princess), and Luigi (airheaded flower). Luigi refused for most of his time on the team to upgrade his weapon, so he was doing 1 damage to enemies up until the Shadow Queen stole him away. Mario and Peach bonded quickly over hating my guts, as i was a tank and enjoyed launching them face-first into golems. It's a miracle we made up as many times as we did. u_u

WIP - The Second Shroob Invasion Cover Art
Tumblr media
I’m happy to put this out - I might shade stuff in later. But here is the main cover art for “The Second Shroob Invasion” on Archive Of Our Own (CatWafers). I took inspiration from the original Partners in Time poster with everyone on Earth clustered together in fear as the Shroobs descend from above.
There are a ton of OCs on the page, and the poster didn’t cover every character that shows up, but these are the crucial characters.
(Left to Right)
Queen Samosha of the Sunnycide Planet - leader of an oppressed planet
Ivy (RuG79v) - artist and friend to Veenie (RuV33n)
Midbus [Main Character] - pig living in the sewers who dealt with horrible roommates, tolerates no bullshit but gets little to no recognition
Veenie (RuV33n) [Main Character] - Stranded Shroob, first to fall during the Battle in Shell Town, always anxious, set in their ways, but always questioning and has a strong sense of morality
Fawful [Main Character] - Beanish teenager, runaway fugitive from the Beanbean Kingdom, always has evil on his mind, badge salesman, the Regent has big plans for him
Toadmida - Daughter of Toadiko, anxious Mayor of HolliJolli Village, avid reader of Toaderez, reads medical textbooks like they’re children’s books, always curious
First Class Private Tortuga - A Koopa Private who tolerates no bullshit, she suspects something is up with Veenie and Fawful (seeing that they’re a Shroob while the other is a criminal), respects Captain Goomba and his squad, resilient, tries to better understand the Shroobs, has a messy family
Captain Goomba and co. - Captain Goomba is very headstrong while Shy Guy has a brain cell. Captain Koopa loves rhyming while Captain Boo watches on, lovingly. Meanwhile, Captain Goomba has regrets about people he couldn’t help and holds himself up to high expectations
Head Scientist Shroogagen - The Shroob that acts as both a scientist and the Regent’s doctor. Gagen loves to experiment and loves his work a little too much. He is the only person who can give the Regent crap and survive. Meanwhile, the Regent tells Gagen what to research. He was there for the Regent when nobody else was, a little bit of a whimp and his life might change
?????? - A project for the Regent, related to one of the main characters
Center:
Regent Shrooben - Ever since the Shroob Princesses died in the first Shroob Invasion (Partner in Time), Regent Shrooben has been leading the Shroobs. Messages between Planet Shroob and Earth take 30 years to transmit. When the Regent finds out what happened to his Princesses, he draws his invasion plans. He has an eye on Fawful and Veenie…

Here we are is the Super Mario Rebirth Show Bowser's army. They're the in the forefront of fighting the Mario Bros when they follow Bowser's plans. We get started on the first list of Bowser's Koopa Empire along with their history.
Koopa- The Koopas are one of the many long running species ever scene the day of the Mushroom World Time. Their first evolution was non other then a "Shellcreepers" to a walking turtle people. Some of them may have not been bad as they were out into their own village while the other Koopa's were at War with The Mushroom Kingdom. They started out in The Koopa Clan under in charge of a younger Bowser. After so many failed misions aganst the Yoshi's, Bowser decied to trun this Clan Around as an Empire, So he makes his own Koopa Kingdom in the Volcano Land aka Darklands. Years later the war continues which was Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach for the first time at the start of "Super Mario Bros 1985 events happen" Thoe the Koopa Troops were jumped onto their heads and used their shells as weapons numerous times. They aint going down without a fight as they were trained for years.
ParaKoopa- The ParaKoopas are the same Koopas but born with Wings. They traditionally come in two varieties: Red Koopa Paratroopas usually fly every where they go as the same goes to Green Koopa Paratroopas ijto The Mario Sibling's general direction. Most of the Para Koopas were under guidance by General Blue Shelled Koopa, who was In Charge of the Koopa Military.
Goomba- The Goombas were the opposite of The Toads. Some of The Goombas who were not on Bowsers side but they are not to bright. While serving the empire, The Goombas were just stomped on like a pancake. Some turned out fine but while other could have died or suffer brain damage. Despite having no arms, Goombas of all types were useful.
Shy Guy- Shy Guys are timid troublemakers and are recognizable by their masks, which they wear due to their shyness. They can be easily disposed by being picked up and thrown against another enemy or into a nearby abyss.
Laktiu- Lakitus are mysterious Koopas who can control clouds. They like to stay airborne because they're weaker than Koopa Troopas. When Bowser and Kamek hires the mystrious Koopa who controls clouds and creat Spiny's. They could also be a quite annoyance to the Mario Siblings but sometimes can be very good use to Go Karts Instructors if some are not helping the Koopa Empire.
Spiny- Spinys are much tougher then Lakitus even though they're merely their pets. Also, they can't be stomped on for obvious reasons due to their spikes on their shells and be used for weapons. They would also be known to be as their guard dogs.
Buzzy Bettle- Buzzy Bettles are the strongest soldiers. Their shells are way more tougher than those of a Koopa Troopa. Also, they're can't be hurt be fire. Unless you jump on them.
Piranha Plants- These Pirahna Plants are carnivores & they inhabit pipes. They tend to pop out of pipes without warning. Any attempt to stomp on them could render as the Pirahna Plant waits for its next meal. These Plants are the attchment to any to Bowsers Empire scene it’s days on Yoshi Island and always will be to this day to bite on its victims.
Boos- Boos are some of the most troublesome. No one reailly knows where they come from but rumors say but they were once in the Darklands in the abandon area of it and some were haunted in mansions. They like to sneak behind the Mario Siblings., trying to kill them but as soon as they turn around, the Boos cover their eyes, turn invisible & doesn't move until turn they turn back around. The one who was in charge of all Boos was "King Boo"

So, real talk, we know that the Toads of the Mushroom Kingdom mostly live in Toad Town, right in front of Princess Peach's castle.
But what about Bowser's minions? We don't really see much of Bowser's Kingdom that much, save for as levels/settings in the games. Do the minions have their own little settlement too?
It's possible, but it's probably very difficult given that Bowser's Kingdom consists of volcanic lava and hostile wastelands. So if having their own little towns and villages is quite challenging, do they just live with Bowser in his castle?
Maybe Bowser's castle has to be much larger than Princess Peach's because he needs to basically house his entire army and their families.
That being said, maybe different sections of the castle are like mini towns for each kind of minion? The goombas have their own chambers, as do koopas and shy guys.
I would really like to see this concept explored. Is Bowser's castle not only Bowser's lair, but basically a large, indoor metropolis for all of his subjects?
Do they have small businesses? What about transportation around the castle? I wonder if there are literally maps on the walls everywhere because the castle is so massive.

paper mario g
paper marios one of those games that took me by surprise as a kid, one friday i came home from school and my dad had just rented it for me -- it was friday, which was go to blockbuster and rent some things day, but the parents went early that day, so i guess he just picked something he thought i’d like -- and I gave it a try, never really being that big of a mario fan (sega does etc etc) -- and i remember being surprised and being almost immediately captivated by the creative style and the gameplay -- other than pokemon i don't think id ever seriously dabbled in any turn-based rpgs before --
Bur also, being drawn in to the mushroom kingdom the game presents, of being stunned that i got *beat* by the bad guy, and then whaaat, you’re telling me i’m teaming up with one of the little bad guy dudes? Only, oh, they’re not bad at all, and theres whole villages of koopas and goombas and all sorts just living out their days??? The game painted this wonderful picture of the mario universe for me, one that in retrospect was a littled off base -- i distinctly remember asking my older brother (who had an NES and Knew Things) over breakfast if the Koopa Bros were in any other games, because WOAH those guys were so cool. He was mostly confused by the question, because why wouldn’t he be. I think the game became one of my most rented games that year, and probably a little into the next year, and I have vivid memories of where I was at and what dinner my family had at specific chapters and story beats (I pulled the “leave the console running to not lose my spot, and hope mom doesn turn it off” trick somewhere around Boo Manor, which is funny bc there was a save block right there)
I remember spending a whole weekend getting through Lavalava island, then another rental cycle trying to push through flower fields. I remember failing many, many, many times to beat Huff n Puff, and going on gamefaqs to find some way, any way to beat that boss -- or upon that, finding some cheat codes. all games have cheat codes, right??? I remember the middle of summer, renting it and seeing a completed save file -- holy shit. Then I spent four days throwing myself at that last bowser fight, a fight I had no context for because I had never beat the last two chapters myself -- but eventually winning that fight, and seeing that ending, and seeing that parade....!
I ended up buying the game giving my dad babysitting money so he could buy the game off ebay many years later, and finally beating the game in its entirety by myself. To this day I get genuinely anxious ahead of the Huff n Puff fight. What a wonderful, charming, excellent game, that has a major place in my heart paper mario good

One Dash. One.
Okay. I don't want to head off across the world just yet. So im Starting simple.
The 1-1 Obstacle course.
A simple run.
The run Mario ran when he first came to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Running, Jumping, Fireball throwing. Standard stuff.
Go underground and get enough coins to buy a dollar-menu Hamburger.
Jump over that Goomba who reviews video games and has been stationed since The Year of Luigi.
Get the Rainbow star. Save it for Later.
Climb the flagpole.
And done
...
Well. Stabilize the warp.
And then done.
There are still some warps in the village though.
I see one on the top of a mushroom hut.
There is one that's attached to a pizza delivery Boy. A shiverian working for Retties Pizza.
I think one guy was selling A warp. That can't be legal.
I got a lot of work to do.
Garth signing off.

So with Birdo joining Mario Kart 8 this month, we also found out that there are FIVE MORE characters getting added alongside future track packs. Awesome. Fucking radical.
BUT WHO!?! The only hint Nintendo has given is a quote that states: “Two upcoming waves of DLC are still to come, featuring more returning courses and characters from across the Mario Kart series”.
With that in mind, here is my baseless speculation, hopes, dreams, and armchair IP management.
Diddy Kong - After appearing in Double Dash!! and MK Wii, I was surprised he wasn't in 8 from the get-go. He's also in MK Tour! He's a 3-timer! He has cachet and cred, but he's not my favorite potential Kong addition. I'd be happy to see him, but I'd rather see Funky Kong or Dixie Kong.
Paratroopa - Nothing against Paratroopa, but I think we have Koopas covered with Koopa Troopa and Dry Bones. If we're getting a new low-level mook driver, it really, REALLY should be Goomba. Yeah he hasn't been playable in a Kart yet, but the track packs have included plenty of brand-new courses.... who's to say a newbie or two can't slip in?
Petey Piranha - Nintendo loves this big dumbass. He's not my top choice, but he's funny and weird. More Mario Sunshine/Double Dash!! representation is fun too.
Pac-Man - Yeah here's a wildcard. MK8 already has Link, Animal Crossing Villagers, Splatooners, and Miis... who's to say they couldn't branch out to Namco? He's already shown up in two different Mario Kart arcade games!
R.O.B. - Another longshot, but he was playable in MK DS! My personal R.O.B.-stalgia has come and gone, but I wouldn't kick the funky little robot out of kart either.
Honey Queen - She's only been in MK7, but a little more Galaxy representation would be cool. I also love that she's a heavyweight. A big cute fluffy bee is a charming alternative to the beefy lunkheads and villains that usually dominate that weight class.
Wiggler - Wiggler was also only playable in MK7, but he's also been a staple of the Mario franchise since his debut in Super Mario World 100 billion years ago. Another big cute bug, but with a little more cachet and cred. Bonus points for forcing Wiggler to drive the car shaped like him.
Pauline - The mayor of New Donk City and Mario's first damsel in distress is already playable in MK Tour! Her whole sultry singer thing would set her apart, and MK8 could REALLY use some Odyssey representation.
Hammer Bro - Another Tour driver! Yeah I know I said that the next mook should be Goomba, but have you considered the fact that I really like Hammer Bros??
Captain Toad - He's in Tour too! I don't know if he's different enough from Toad and Toadette to be worth it... but it'd be cool to see him. If we're getting a third Toad I think Toadsworth would be a lot more fun. Like Goomba, Toadsworth hasn't been playable in a previous Kart, but maaaayybe?
Nabbit - New Super Mario Bros. U's prankish bandit is also playable in Tour. Nabbit's popped up in plenty of spin-off titles since his debut, and who doesn't love a little klepto bunny? At the same time, I think the Koopa Kids have the "fun mischievous little shithead" archetype covered and then some.
King Bob-omb - The iconic first boss of Super Mario 64 made his driving debut in Tour. I would absolutely love to drive around as this big stupid idiot. Hilarious. He a orb with a mustache and a king hat. GIMME
SWEET BABY PRINCE KAMEK THEY DONE YOU SO DIRTY FOR LIKE 25 FUCKIN' YEARS - Bowser's wicked man-witch, advisor, babysitter and punching bag was ALMOST in Mario Kart 64. You can look up screenshots! He got dropped at the last second for Donkey Kong, which is totally fair, but then he didn't get another chance until Tour?! Tour IMO doesn't really count. It's just not as fun. My wishful thinking brain is gonna just hope that the Yoshi's Island track that was added is a hint that Kamek's on the way.
Chargin' Chuck - Another ridiculous Tour dude. Football Koopa! Fuck it, why not! His hamburger car kicks ass too. Look he's just more interesting than Paratroopa, okay?
And then it is fun to go full bluesky. If they want to add more guest characters, Kirby and Captain Falcon would both be perfect for wildly different reasons. Some Wario Ware representation would be insanely welcome, especially athletic disco-man Jimmy T. or the scooter-driving Mona. We could use some Luigi-love too! E. Gadd from the Luigi's Mansion games would make sense, but Kitsune Luigi from Super Mario 3D World would also be a delight! He'd fit right in with Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach!
Whoever ends up joining the race, I'm excited to see 'em! I love this friggin' game!

Fuck it. ozzy has autism let’s describe his interests
-He loves video games but most traditional rpgs or platformers feature too much violence. the issue isn’t it being graphic it’s just that he thinks way too hard about the implications of stomping goombas.
-He LOVES pokemon though as he fully buys the non-violent fainting idea. He’s played them all his life. His favorite pokemon is eevee, as he caught a shiny eevee when playing pokemon sapphire. He named the eeveee “milkshake” and has transferred it to every pokemon game at least once.
-He owns a lot of shiny eevee merch as a result. Milkshake currently resides in pokemon shield, spending its days eating sweet curries.
-Milkshake was the first, but ozzy always hunts for tons of shinys. He knows everything there is to know about shinies. Where the shiny charm is located in every game, every shiny hunting method and its pros and cons, every single pokemons shiny design. He can actually consistently tell the difference between a non-shiny pokemon and a shiny pokemon including shinies that look very samey to their og designs like pikachu or leafeon.
-He loves collecting toys in general. He knows everything to know about LPS and has a robust collection of them. Like most people he doesn’t like G3 but he has all of the classic designs.
-He loves animal crossing, spending hours decorating and making friends. He doesn’t bully his villagers but he often says yes to them leaving because he thinks its good for them. He doesn’t let his dreamies leave though!
