I’m so glad the Guillermo Del Toro Pinocchio movie is being received really well, because it was literally my most anticipated movie of the year! So here’s some fun facts about the crew, concept, and production that got me excited about this movie and that I think would excite much of tumblr as well:

-the screenplay was cowritten by Del Toro and Patrick McHale, creator of Over The Garden Wall and a writer on Adventure Time.

-the movie was codirected by Mark Gustasfon, who was the animation director of Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

-the primary art/animation designers of this movie (production designer Curt Enderle, art director Robert DeSue, character designer Georgina Hayns, animation supervisor Brian Leif Hansen, and photography director Frank Passingham) previously worked on projects that include Coraline, the Corpse Bride, Paranorman, Isle of Dogs, Frankenweenie, Kubo, and Chicken Run.

-Besides Netflix, it was produced by the Henson company (always a good sign when you’re doing anything with puppets) and ShadowMachine, who have produced a lot of Adult Swim shows including Robot Chicken, Moral Orel, and Tuca and Bertie, as well as the Netflix original BoJack Horseman.

-Del Toro was inspired to make this adaptation due to the similarities he’d always noticed between the original Pinocchio story and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Both are about a man-made character’s relationship with his father/creator, and his attempts to understand what it means to be human. This inspiration is why the film takes on a gothic feel at times.

-the movie is over 10 years in the making. Del Toro announced the project in 2008 and production began in 2012, but it went into development hell and no further updates were made for several years. Del Toro has described it as his passion project, saying "I've wanted to make this movie for as long as I can remember.”

-the backdrop of Mussolini’s Italy was intended to show how Pinnochio was able to find his own humanity and will in a time where everyone else was acting like a blindly obedient puppet. Del Toro wanted to deviate from the original book’s themes of obeying authority by making his Pinocchio virtuous for questioning the rules and forging his own set of morals. (Also if you know anything about Del Toro, the guy likes to dunk on fascism.)

-Del Toro didn’t feel the need to have Pinocchio become flesh-and-blood at the end of the movie, saying all you need to be a real human is to behave like one.

I was lucky enough to see this movie in 35 mm in a movie theatre on Thanksgiving weekend. If there are any movie theatre showings near you and you’re in a position to be able to attend them, I would totally recommend it especially if you can go with loved ones. It was a gorgeous, heartwarming, and magical movie to experience on a big screen and perfect for the late fall/winter holiday season.

@simlicious' Advent Calendar patterns are always a highlight of the festive season and this year is no exception! It's hard to pick favourites but the preppy wool fabrics are particularly gorgeous and inspired me to do a photoshoot with Vinnie, Georgina and their blue-blooded neighbour, Melinda Bradstreet-Fyfe. The pattern on Georgina's pullover, left, is a warm and cosy Argyle, while Melinda's skirt is showcasing a classic houndstooth wool tartan fabric. Last but by no means least, Vinnie is rocking a basegame jacket improved 1000% by another beautiful wool tartan pattern. Shot on location at the Appaloosa Plains Golf Club. You and the rest of the main cast of Scream have been invited to Skeet‘s and Georgina‘s wedding. At the party after the ceremony you and Matt spend some time together.

After many months of waiting the day has finally arrived. Skeet and his fiancé Georgina were about to become husband and wife. All of you were invited; Neve, Courtney, David, Rose, Jamie and - of course - Matthew. And you. You were excited for them, for the wedding.

You run your hands along the soft fabric of your emerald dress that Georgina picked out for you. You twirl, almost checking yourself out in the mirror to make sure everything was set.

Neve picks you up from your house and the two of you get to the venue quickly. „(Y/N)! You look gorgeous“ Courtney greets you happily, holding a glass of what you guessed champagne, giving you kisses on your cheeks. „You‘re looking good, too“ You smile at her and she hands you a glass of champagne. You thank her and get greeted by the rest of the scream cast.

The ceremony was beautiful but, to be honest, all you guys wanted now was to party. You‘re sat at a table by yourself mostly, some people you have never seen before sat at the same table. Until you notice a presence plop down on the chair next to you, handing you a glass that contained a dark liquor. „I know you‘re more of a rum person“ It was Matthew. You smile softly to yourself. „Always so thoughtful“ You remark and he chuckles quietly. „Of course“ He takes a sip from his own drink, checking out all the people on the dance floor. „You wanna dance?“ „Huh?“ You turn to look at him, like most of the time you zoned out, not realising what he said. Matthew looks into your eyes, suddenly becoming more nervous and he shifts in his seat. „I mean- uhm“ He looks down on the glass in his hand, motioning it in small circles causing the liquid to swirl. „Do you- Do you want to dance? With me?“ Matthew speaks up as he looks back into your eyes, his typical smile spread all over his face. „Sure“ You smile and empty your glass in one go. „Oh, I love women with class“ He remarks at your action and you just laugh fondly. You both get out of your seats and Matthew takes your hand, something he has never done before but you… liked it. He leads the way into the crowd of dancing people, suddenly stopping and turning around to face you. Carefully you wrap your arms around his neck, Matthew his around your waist. „She‘s like the wind“ was playing in the background, one of your guilty pleasure songs. Argh, fuck it, it‘s a great song. Matthew looks down on you, the height difference between you is wild. But you felt safe by the way he was always towering over you. You could easily rest your head against his chest and he could easily rest his arm on your shoulders. While you two were silently dancing together, you felt a strange knot forming in your stomach. Something about this situation lit a fire inside of you, like it was always there but you just get it now. Your fingers start gently fondling his neck, to which Matthew gives you a one-sided grin, his giant hands held you tight. „You look… good in that dress“ He says softly. „Thank you“ You say, suddenly getting nervous about this situation. Nervous about… him. You and Matthew had spent a lot of time on and off screen of Scream together, you two have the strongest friendship out of the whole group. You didn’t notice that he got closer to your body and, automatically, your face. Matthew moves his hands to take yours gently, pushing you back with the other to twirl you around, pulling you back to his chest, causing you to almost crash into him, your free hand resting on his chest. He puts one hand on your lower back and with the other he pushed up your chin carefully. „You know that you‘re a horrible dancer, right?“ He teases you and you slap his upper body playfully. Matthew chuckles deeply. „Still better than you, though“ You try to tease him, but fail. „Nah, that was a cheap one. You can do better than that, darling“ Of course you could, that was your thing - teasing each other. But he made you so nervous right now that you couldn’t even think straight. „Whatever“ You give up and Matthew smirks. The song comes to an end and you stop in your tracks. „Let me get you another drink“ He winks at you, removes his hands from your body and walks off. You feel cold now that he‘s gone. Matthew comes back with two glasses of your guys favourite drink, trying his best not to spill anything due to the crowded floor. You chuckle and take your glass once he arrived. „Here you go“ „Thank you“ You take a huge sip, hoping for it to calm you down a bit - oh boy, you were so wrong.

You both continued to dance and drink all night long, no one was able to separate you two which wasn’t unusual though.

Now you two are seated at a table, shitfaced and just talking about anything. Mostly about other guests at the wedding. „I could use some fresh air, wanna come with me?“ Matthew asked, his voice slurred due to the many drinks you two shared. You nod and get off your seat, already stumbling which causes a laugh to come off Matthew‘s lips. He holds you while you guys walk out of the room but… where was the exit again? You walk around a corner and stop in a long hallway that seemingly lead to nowhere. „Did we really get lost?“ Matthew laughs and looks around. „I hope someone finds us, we can‘t die like this“ You joke. Due to your blurry vision you didn’t see Matthew approach you but you feel his large hands grab your waist and push you up against the wall. „I guess we better make the wait worthwhile“ He smirks deeply and cups your cheek with his right hand, the other one still resting on your waist, holding it tight but not too much. Just to hold you still so you won‘t fall down. „I- I guess so, yeah“ You say nervously and feel his lips crash onto yours. A firework set off inside of you. Without hesitation you wrap your arms around his neck, gently pulling on his hair which causes a soft moan to escape his lips. Your cheeks heat up while he kisses you hungrily, as if he would be starving to death without your kiss. He is the first one to break it, leaning his forehead against yours and a huge goofy smile on his face. „You have no idea how long I wanted to *hiccup* do this“ You laugh at his hiccup. „Ever since… I- I saw you at our…“ Matthew has to take a break to collect his thoughts. „First- uhm“ You interrupt him by planting another kiss on his soft lips, still tasting like the drink he had earlier. „Me too, Matt“ „Fuck, if I wouldn’t be too drunk right now I‘d pull you right to the nearest bathroom stall“ „Always a charm“ You chuckle and kiss his cheek. „There you are!“ You both turn your heads at the sudden appearance of Skeet, giving you a knowing look. „We got lost“ Matthew explains but can‘t hold back his huge smile. Skeet points at a door behind him. „Get some fresh air“ He demands with a grin and you two chuckle. Matthew takes your hand and leads the way outside to catch some fresh air, stumbling and almost falling over.

ʚ♡ɞ you were a model for Dior. so, because of the active PSG x Dior collaboration, you got to see neymar quite frequently, and during runway shows the spotlight was always on your stunning looks. it was amazing to see how unproblematic and successful you were as a self-made model.
