Jay B: Be Yourself

If you don’t know by now, I’m an Ahgase. I have a strong love for these seven men who may never know me. Their songs however, have quickly found a space in my heart. Especially their Leader’s songs, Lim Jaebeom, otherwise known as Jay B or Def. His voice carries so much R&B that when my Caribbean mother heard him, she immediately joked that he was a black man in a past life. His vocals in all of his Solos and with Got7 songs satisfy my eardrums all the time. 

So, when I learned that he was releasing a Solo Album in late 2022, I just had to listen to it! The album named, Be Yourself was a collection of Soul, Hip Hop paired with sensual vocals. Jay B himself has said, “I want my fans to be comforted by it.” Boy, did it comfort. Actually, for a whole month I, alongside my mother listened to the Album over and over, just vibing to the funk, old school R&B vibes it gave me. Only to realize we had yet to look up any translations for the songs.

I was so engrossed in the music that I didn’t look for any meaning behind it. When I could literally feel the meaning. The Mini Album has a total of six songs and the Title Track ‘Go Up' has over 3 Million Views on Youtube. This was hands down one of my most loved Albums in K-Pop to date. J-Hope (BTS)- Jack in the Box 

It really should not come as a surprise to many that this Album is on my list. I’ve loved Hobi’s solos and his rap flow since I heard him on BTS Rapline’s song, Outro: Tear as I first really got into BTS in January 2022. His duality and tone stood out a lot to me and while he deserves to lead the Title of the Best 3rd Gen Dancer, he should also be given some credit as he’s one of the Best Rappers in the K-Pop Industry. 

On Sunday 31st of July 2022, J-Hope performed his debut Solo Album, Jack in a Box at Lollapalooza, for one hundred thousand attendees after fearing Armys or Music lovers wouldn’t attend. This performance was it for me. I was hooked on Hobi after this, he outshone legendary music artists that day and his performance resembled that of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

His Album, Jack in the Box no longer carried the bright colors that symbolized J-Hope, known as the Sunshine of BTS. Donning dark grunge, hip hop, R&B roots, while addressing some deep topics such as his future and society. With ten tracks on the Album and endless five-star reviews, this Album will be engrained into my head and forever change the Music Industry as a whole.

GOT7: 2022 Album

I got into GOT7 before I stanned BTS. I was only listening to Jin’s Solo’s at the time and was hesitant to get into BTS because I had heard all sorts of horror stories about BTS stans, the Army. Being an Army myself and engaging online, I can see that most are welcoming and understanding people. So Got7 was the first group I listened to officially, because I knew Jinyoung from the Drama, The Devil’s Judge. 

Got7's 2022 Album is one of my fave from them, because of how happy and loving the Album feels. Learning that their Leader, Jaebeom fought for them to own their Name and then to self produce an Album that included songs written by the members. The Title Track, NANANA and Performance Video have over 50 Million Views on Youtube. The songs, Don’t Leave me Alone and You Don’t Care about me have a special space in my heart. 

The album has 6 songs, giving you a feel-good vibe, while being dedicated to the Fans. This was the first K-Pop Comeback I have ever experienced and it was so fun, a memory to forever cherish as it really helped me through some tough times. Stray Kids: NoEasy

Second to Got7 was Stray Kids. I don’t remember fully how I found them, but I think it’s the usual way. Through God’s Menu and Felix's voice. Which I listened to for a whole week before looking for more information on Stray Kids. As I said, I was afraid of getting into K-Pop because of all the rumors. But Felix’s voice really just dragged me in. Although God’s Menu isn’t on the NoEasy Album, It’s still one of the Best K-Pop Songs to date. Afterward, I finally searched more on their discography and listened to NoEasy. 

With 14 Tracks that include a mixture of 3Racha madness, Pop, Rock and more, they easily dragged me into being a Stay. NoEasy holds some of my absolute favorite K-Pop songs to date, such as; Cheese, Sorry I Love You and Wolfgang to name a few. The whole Album is a no-skip, much like all the albums on this list. It always manages to make me motivated while working and has broken all my expectations of K-Pop.

He shakes his head gently. You smile back at him and drag him upstairs to the master en-suite. Flickering candles are placed in various corners of the room, lighting the room just enough. The beige claw foot tub filled with hot water and a soft lavender fragrant foam. Jackson looks to you, a wave of surprise, followed by confusion washing over his face

“I keep in contact with your driver” You smile proudly. Jackson chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Come” You demand, just like before.

You grab the waist of his shirt, bringing him over to the tub. You slip your hands underneath the fabric, sliding your hands up his body to remove his shirt. You place a gentle kiss on his lips, then nod towards the bath.

You turn away, back facing Jackson to pour him a short class of Maotai. Jackson finishes undressing and steps into the water. He sighs softly , sinking into the water. You scuff your feet, moving back to the side of the tub. You sit on the edge, handing him the class. Jackson makes a groan of pleasure, his eyes squint with elation.

Jackson was only quiet a few minutes before he beckoned you to the side of the tub once again. You sit at the edge, facing him,

Redacted Bois and Which K-pop Groups They’d Stan

Idk if there are a lot of K-pop+redacted fans there are out there but I made this for funsies 😋🫶🏼

David is more of a casual listener, but whenever he’s working out or doing yard work, he listens to EXO. He got really into it when he was younger and bought one of their albums. He then played it for a whole month. Angel was trying not to laugh when he accidentally played Monster on the speakers near the pool (they secretly liked it tho).

Asher definitely listens to Block B. He likes to blast their music anytime, anywhere. On the way to the grocery store? Absolutely banging to Very Good. Cooking? Accidentally burning the food to Nalili Mambo. Trying to get Babe’s attention? Passionately singing Her. He just gets really hyped when he listens to them.

Milo is secretly an aghase and could talk about GOT7 for hours if you ask him about it. He's really passionate about them and their music. Sometimes he uses Teenager or If You Do as entrance music, like sitting on the bed waiting for Sweetheart to come in. He was pretty upset when they announced that they won't be actively making music together, but he still enjoys all of their solo projects/music.

Vincent is a huge ENHYPEN stan. Their whole concept is vampires but despite that, Vincent really likes their music. He and Lovely started watching their survival show and then became obsessed with them once they debuted. He knows the point dance from each title track and learned the Bite Me partner choreo with Lovely.

Sam listens to Girls’ Generation as a guilty pleasure. He accidentally clicked on the music video for Gee back in 2008 and has followed them ever since. He was pretty embarrassed when Darlin’ caught him listening to it, but he was able to convince them to listen to it with him.

Gavin doesn’t really stan a certain group but likes a lot of solo artists, specifically Taemin, Kai, and Hwa Sa. He just feels so connected to their music and actively follows their releases. He was listening to some of their music one day, Freelancer asked what he was listening to, he showed them and they liked it too. They've definitely listened to Mmmh by Kai while making out. he is mr rover and he is coming over

Lasko doesn't listen to really big groups in the industry and instead likes the K-bands more, specifically Day6. He gets into his feels when he listens to them (especially since i hc that hes a hopeless romantic). He learned Korean just so he could sing Congratulations and Zombie even though theres an english ver.

Damien got really into SHINee in high school. He was kind of a toxic stan though 💀. He would get into fights on Twitter and (almost) physical fights at school. He would stay up until 3 am to start streaming music the moment the MVs would drop and then yell at people online to start streaming. But don't worry, he's calmed down now. He gets pretty nostalgic when Sherlock plays on shuffle.

Huxley really liked GFRIEND and supported them in any way that he could, such as streaming, buying albums, and voting them for MusicBank. He tried to show Damien their songs and played Rough but Damien wasn't really into it. He was devastated when they disbanded and Damien had to comfort him for a whole week. He's just such a wholesome girl group stan, it's adorable.

Caelum likes to dance and sing to a lot of PENTAGON and SEVENTEEN songs, even though he doesn't know what the lyrics mean. His favorite songs are Naughty Boy and Pretty U, respectively. Both groups have a lot of members, but he doesn't know all of them. He likes to watch the MVs with Freelancer and point out the few members he does know.

Elliott likes TXT's more chill songs like Fairy of Shampoo and Ghosting. He's a very relaxed fan when it comes to them. He knows all the members and their songs but isn't super active in the community or when it comes to buying merch. Whenever a new album comes out he'll listen to it for about a week and then put his favorites into a playlist. Sunshine started liking them because of him and probably asked him to make a dreamscape that was a TXT concert.

Blake isn't really into it but randomly listened to Love Scenario by iKON and cried to it after looking up the lyrics. He had it on repeat for a whole week.

Guy fell into the “I just want to know their names” trope with TWICE and BTS. He thought it would be funny if he randomly/ironically knew the members’ names and ended up being a HUGE stan of both. Bought every album, lightstick, and a lot of official merch. He’s been to a lot of their concerts and literally screams the fan chants. He biases Jin and Dahyun and has their photo cards in his phone case, as well as an RJ sticker.

Geordi saw NewJeans in a Coca-cola advertisement, decided to check out their music, and ended up really liking their music. It introduced him to K-pop and he casually listens to a lot of groups, but NewJeans is his ult. Their songs are really catchy so they end up playing in his mind 24/7, sometimes somehow mixing with the Tetris theme. He likes all of their songs but his current favorites are Super Shy and ASAP.

Merch looking for new home!

Hello all, hope everyone is doing as well as can be given their circumstances. I’m not sure where else to post this, so I’m just going to post it here.

I have some kpop merch (bts & got7, i believe) and some anime merch that I’d like to get rid of (kuroko no basket, free!, a whole bunch of others). Which Kpop Bands HP Characters Would Stan

Okay yes, I know Rowling sucks and Harry Potter is anathema now but like, it was a large part of my fandom experience for years so it's already in my brain and then I saw a tiktok talking about this but the person had different opinions than me and I wanted to not throw my weird headcanons all over their post so I'm making my own. But like, Trans Lives Matter, don't give JKR any more money, etc.

I'm going to move forward pretending that kpop is like quidditch in the hp world: pretty much everyone has an opinion on it, and have grown up forming those opinions over time. All present day (2023) bands exist, but I'm a kpop old so I'm definitely going to skew that way a little.

Harry: Probably a BTS stan. He was thrown into this world with no knowledge and very little time to deep-dive, so he just kind of listens to the popular stuff that's around, and BTS is pretty much everywhere. When they start seeming tired before their hiatus he understands it on a deeply personal level. Jungkook bias, the image of a golden boy who has to be good at everything speaks to him. Later he discovers Xdinary Heroes and finds their song Happy Death Day hilarious post-battle of Hogwarts and so starts stanning them.

Ron: H.O.T. for the longest time, because they were an older group and the merch was cheap, and then later Forestella, because they're kind of niche and weird and don't have a big following. This is the man who supports the Chudley Cannons. He also likes BlackPink, but is embarassed about it and could never afford one of their concerts anyway, so he's more of a fan than a stan.

Hermione: This girl did research. She went looking for the most technically perfect artists, and landed on EXO and IU first, but then later (post year 3) found both Mamamoo and Brown Eyed Girls and was charmed by the vocals and the sass. When Harry learns how bookish RM from BTS is, he tells Hermione and she starts stanning him specifically as well.

Draco: Outwardly a Big Bang stan, he secretly also loves both Twice and his mother's old Shinhwa records. He has told no one.

Fred & George: They love the chaos pipeline of Block B, 2NE1, and Psy, and have recently added Xikers to their collection.

Ginny: She stans BlackPink and ITZY for their girl power vibes, and is a fan of 2NE1, which she listens to with Fred and George. In public she plays into her love of Stray Kids, because she hates being seen as girly.

Luna: Orange Caramel, Crayon Pop, Gugudan, and Dreamcatcher. Fun, weird, and occasionally dark.

Neville: BTOB and NCT Dream, but also GFriend because of that one Me Gustas Tu performance.

Sirius: Listened to actual JYP back in the day because all his family hated the guy for looking weird. Now JYP is The Man though, so Sirius sticks it to him by listening to Got7 after they broke away from JYP Entertainment. He also likes Ateez for the way they break norms by using such serious (eeeyyyyy) faces when they perform.

Lavender Brown: is a huge Sistar stan and had a screaming argument with Hermione about how exploitative songs like Shake It and Touch My Body are, where she actually made some great points about how pretty much /every/ kpop group uses exploitative marketing in some way, Sistar just don't dress it up as anything but. Ron agreed with her and that really pissed off Hermione.

Hagrid: Listens to Monsta X purely because of the name

Hi hello, I have nothing to gif, and I attended my fifth kpop this weekend, and thought I would rate/share my experiences for no reason other than maybe help others figure out the way of kpop concerts and etc  BTS - 9/10  I attended their “love yourself world tour” in Berlin in 2018, I travelled to Berlin from my country (Denmark) to attend the concert. The ticketing experience to bts is a nightmare, even back in 2018 - I still don’t know how we managed to get tickets, because everything was sold out in minutes. I’ve heard it’s even worse now. The cueing for bts outside the arena and merch is an even bigger nightmare, I don’t know if Mercedez Benz Arena has fixed their “we let everyone in the seated areas through the same ten doors) issue but the line was so long it wrapped around the buildings and we only got in like twenty minutes before start, I didn’t go for merch but my friend I travelled with did and she stood in line from six in the morning till four in the afternoon and she got none of the things she wanted and only got a small keychain with a members name on (not even one of her biases), I hope bighit/hybe fixed the merch hell. The concert itself though!! Sadly we were one of the ones affected by Jungkooks foot injury, so he was seated, but he slayed the vocals from his seated position and did little dances in his seat it was cute. The boys can dance though, have incredibly energy, and are so in sync, but I will say the one thing about bts when they go on stage is they are such a unit, when they interact with each other and in each others presence you can feel how much of a close relationship they have with each other and it really brings everything to the next level. I have no complaints to their performance at all, and will always recommend that anyone should go to a bts concert before they die because there is nothing like it. The only dislike I had (which will be a common theme with two other bands too) is that the translator was ofc german, which meant for a good portion of the concert (whenever there was talking) me and my friends had no clue what was going on. But this isn’t really something that brought down their performance or my overall view, it was just kind of like “ugh” not knowing what they were saying, but that comes with travelling to other countries to see concerts.  Monsta X - 8/10

I can’t remember what this world tour was called, but it was the one in Berlin in 2019. I was a casual fan of them when I went in, and boy did I come out loving them and their performance energy. This concert also had absolute hell cueing outside the arena, I generally hope this has gotten better with the years and as the arena has held more kpop concert, but this one we got in an hour before even though the doors opened two hours before. Me and my friend wanted to get lightsticks at the concert, and they were sold out, and at first we thought they must have sold a lot then, but when we sat down in the arena ... no lie, so many people were without lightsticks, and it just seemed like the company had underestimated how many people needed lightsticks in the crowd. Major minus point to the company. HOWEVER, the boys were amazing! they had so much energy, their vocals and rap were 100% live (which bts were too, didn’t mention that, but you could clearly hear with both these bands that everything was live), I genuinly came out a bigger fan than when I entered and listened to their music so much afterwards, it was such a good experience and if they came to my country I would totally go see them again. This concert ofc also had the german translator, except for I.M who spoke in english, which again was like “ugh” but again not really something that affected my view of the group or their performance. Would totally recommend going to see them if you have the chance, you won’t regret it.  Got7 - 4/10 Now, before I start I will say this was one of their last tour if not the last tour before they left JYP and I think that might have affected their creative vision of how they wanted this concert to look and sound like, and JB was also sick during this concert and left before it was over, so I think you should keep that in mind because I definitly think that affected a great part of why this concert didn’t work, for me atleast. I have been a casual fan of got7 since their debut, me and my friend who also saw monsta x, have listened to them since their debut and now a lot of their songs and also have seen a lot of variety content for got7, so we went in with higher expecations than we went in for Monsta x. But something just felt slightly off for this concert, the stage itself was kind of boring - they didn’t really have anything that set it apart visually form other concerts, it was mostly just screeneffects and then them. The mood also felt a little bit off, not like they didn’t wanna be there, but just it felt like it wasn’t like their prime that night and it might have been because their leader was sick for a big portion of the concert. Dancing wise they were amazing, vocal wise - though live and no backing track - they didn’t always sound as clear as monsta x and bts, but I think that could also just be circumstancial, I don’t think bts and monsta x have sounded perfect every day in their career, so. One of their vcr’s was a comedy bit, which is ofc on brand, but it was quite long and they had put on german subtitles for the berlin tour stop, which meant me and my friend spent a lot of very long minutes amongst laughing people not understanding what was going on at all, and the people around us we asked if they could translate just ignored us, which was quite rude. Overall just not the best concert experience for us, I probably wouldn’t go see them again, but I do think people should go see them and make their own judgement especially because I’m quite sure we might have just caught them on a bad day or year. I will also add that Bambam basically carried the energy of this concert, he has incredible crowd control and really knows how to interact with the crowd and make them laugh and have energy, and he’s not even my bias.  Blackpink - 6/10 Now I saw blackpink in december in my home country, and there’s several points I wanna make. I don’t think Blackpink are bad performers, dancers or singers as some commenters on social media would make it out to be, but as someone who attended this tour I do think with the time in their hiatus ... this could have been better. Now first for plus sides of this concert experience, it was the first concert in my home country and it was just nice that I could go home afterwards and not to a hotel. Yg has their merchandise under control!! there was basically no cue, they had every size left even though me and my friend came very last minute when the doors opened. Blackpink had an entire section where they spend several minutes showcasing their dancers and band, letting them have the stage alone and I have never seen this at a concert before and I loved it and it really showed respect to the people they work with. They also had practiced several phrases in danish, which I also felt was so respectful to the country they were in and the people they were performing for. Their vcrs are amazing, beautiful and stunning and practically look like etherial perfume commercials. Rosé and Jennie were overpowering the backing track several times. Jennie and Lisa have incredible stage presence in terms of how they are in their facial expression, they really know to navigate that according to what song is being performed and what is being sung. Jisoo can dance!! she nailed that choreography for her solo performance, not just nailed it, she was incredible. Now for negatives: Let’s be honest, if ur going to a blackpink concert for choreography, ur in the wrong place. At most their choreographys is them swinging their arms around a lot, doing varies forms of catwalks whilst singing or rapping, and ocasionally you’ll get minimal footwork. They aren’t really a dancing choreography hard hitting group, and I think that’s fine and I think it’s time blinks admit that and just roll with what we get. For me I do think at times the girls could benefit from ditching the catwalking waving arm choreo for some of their b side tracks and just lets the dancers do their thing while sing and rap and be artists, I don’t really think they need to have choreo for all their songs, and sometimes it feels like they shove some easy choreo in their just to have it. Jennie’s solo is amazing, and I love the direction for it and the sound of it, BUT I do think it kind of sucks that you go out of the concert not being able to hear it (probably ever again bc lets face it yg aint releasing shit unless they really have to), where as had it been “solo” being performed u could go home and listen to it and repeat it, you can’t really do that with this. Jisoo not having her solo before this tour started, is criminal, yg had two years to get that out and I absolutely think that should have been a priority, because even if Jisoo nailed her liar performance it feels off that there are three bandmembers performing original work and then one member performing covers. I’m not the biggest fan of Lalisa and Money (mostly Lalisa, because I find it highly annoying that she says her own name over a 100 times, and I think she deserved a better solo than a song that just screams at you to say her name over and over again) but I will say they do really well in concert settings even if you don’t like them, HOWEVER, it did bother me during money how little Lisa had that microphone to her mouth, even when she wasn’t dancing - she practically threw out a phrase once in a blue moon, and I wished they instead would have said “okay this is a dance performance” and just put the mic down entirely and just had her go off with the background dancers, because it would have worked better and it just feels off when she only does half the lyrics. The girls are not good at crowd control during talks, at all, you can really tell they are all kind of shy people because a lot of the time they look at each other and you can tell they just hoping not to be the next one to talk. Jennie and Rosé talks most, probably because of the english, but i wish they would have put a translator on then so Lisa and Jisoo could have been freely speaking too. Yg needs to ditch that backing track for blackpink, it keeps coming back in every live event blackpink does and I hate it, they can perform perfectly fine without it and its annoying to hear the echoing of a backing track. I didn’t attend their first world tour, but I have the dvds from it, and I honestly like those better than this one, and i wish I had been on that one. But that being said, I am a blink forever at heart, and it’s always an experience to go see them, but I do think if you go on hiatus for two years planning an album and tour, I expect more from it. There are kpop groups who have a quarter of that time planning it, and money, and they manage to produce better staging and setup and concept.  Ateez - 9/10 I was not a fan until I saw them on saturday in my home country. I had listened to a lot of their title tracks, because I’m the type to put on kpop playlists and find new tracks that way to listen to, but I didn’t really know their names or anything like that, went because my friend was a fan. But boy did they change my mind. First of all, this was the first group who did not!! have any solo or unit stages in between group stages, they were on stage all eight for the entire concert, and I think they basically only didn’t have choreography for a song or two, it was insane how much ENERGY they had! Jongho (I hope I am spelling his name correctly) is insane live, his vocals are beyond stable, and he is without a doubt the best kpop vocalist I have heard live. I also love that their choreographies seem to have a common theme to them, I called it “stumble choreography” to my friend in lack of better wording, but  a lot of the choreographies have this theme of where they stumble to one side of the stage to another, and it just cool it kind of ties together. The entire section with the pirate ship as a graphic, where they mimicked stumbling on a boat each time the boat graphic moved was beyond cool. They all spoke english even though they clearly aren’t fluent, and I respect that!! the only time they used their translator was when one of the members cleared up something that didn’t come out right in english, otherwise they spoke entirely in english. I don’t a single complaint about this concert at all, and I think just like I said with bts, everyone should go see them once, they are incredible.  also I would like to add at the end, most of my critique is mostly aimed at the company, I don’t think in most cases that kpop idols gets to have a lot of control or say in how they want things done, and I think that should be taken in consideration when critiquing a concept, album, music video or concert or anything that is being put out. Unless of course you are dealing with groups like bts who have had a lot of creative input to how they should like and sound and perform.  for the end here are groups I really want to see life if they come to europe, so if you have experiences with them please tell me yours <3 : le sserafim, new jeans, shinee, exo, twice, seventeen, txt, gidle, nct 127 and as for solos, I really wanna see Taemin he’s very high on the list (but sm is allergic to europe)

2. How did you decide on your bias?

jinyoung: first bias <3 fell in love with his acting first, but when i heard him sing it felt like he shot daggers straight to my heart 😭 he sings like he's gone through 16 divorces pls 😭😭

jackson: first thing i watched from got7 was the breath mv, and his pink hair caught my eye 😅 but his rapping voice and the passion he has for is art is like no other, and that made me decide i would follow him to the ends of the earth 😌

lullaby era! it was a well-received comeback with back-to-back promotional content and it seems they enjoyed every bit of it <3

Update

I figured I should do a kinda update. 

I just returned. while i was gone:

Graduated College. 

Got really sick.  got better. 

my sister got cancer. beat it. was fine for 5 years (cured).   then it came back this year but she beat it again. 

developed debilitating chronic migraines. suffered for years 24/7.  got it to a place where it is so much better with multiple treatments and I can finally function. but horrible memory and brainfog.  

fell in love with Twitch when I was sick.   

Mod for a lot of otv and friends and streamers i admire.

Mod for 2 Kpop(former) Idols  eaj (jae park of day6) and mark tuan (got7)... the pandemic was weird...  the girl who started this tumblr would be proud.  

discovered I was right about having thyroid issues for the last 12 years and doctors were gaslighting me.  I have hypothyroidism and hasimotos. My blood tests were normal for 14+ years despite systems(thyroid blood tests are limited af in what they see) I finally forced them to do an ultrasound and proved I was right.  highly recommend. 

Developed 2 forms of alopecia. have hair topper and wigs though. 

gained a shitton of weight due to meds and wrong diagnosis.  but on a better path now. 

dated some assholes lol. 

grew closer with my friends.  

worked at jackbox games. 

bought more anime, gaming, and kpop merch than i should admit.  

I will post my gaming setup etc. 

glad to be back
