i always found it weird that whenever a “problematic” person is going through something and people want to defend them or back them up, they go “i know theyre not perfect but-”
like.... as if the only people worth defending in a fucked up situation are “perfect” people? that doesnt even exist. idk i just hate the notion that if someone “bad” goes through something difficult then tough shit to them i guess no ones supposed to offer compassion, or if we do we gotta stipulate it by making sure everyone knows we know theyre “not good”. its just weird

not to talk about a game being an mmo, but like. i think ppl forget 14 is an mmo and thus there is a grind
#someone was complaining about how the spiritual ending for EW is quote unquote locked#behind lvl 80 gatherer quests#which my good dude my good chief the quests kinda are like. yeah this is the POINT#it makes sense to have it be there#gonna get spoilery here for a sec:#but to rebuild these lost worlds not by combat and violence but by cultivation and growth#tending to the barren soil of despair and new growth rising from that#is deeply poetic and it FITS#it fits so beautifully it would’ve been a crime to do them as just combat#but also it’s an mmo. there is a grind#it’s how mmo’s go and 14 isn’t as grindy#but there is a grind there to get a job to 80#I dunno what else to tell people that it is a bad thing for important content to be stuck in places like that#go exploring. try new things. do different jobs#there’s a great deal of lore in the ShB job quests it’s why you do them#this isn’t a game to have things handed to you on a silver platter in MSQ they gotta have more incentive in the game#or at that point it’s just a single player rpg#which at times I wish 14 was like that but you gotta live w what you got#anyway yes you can criticize how the game is laid out w the lore and how certain things should be in MSQ#and acknowledge that there is a grind to the game by it being a mmorpg#I dunno go and ruminate on why it’s such a grumpy idea that the ending theme#of hope springs eternal and hope for a new and better world from the ashes of one’s so long forgotten#doesn’t fit w gathering in 14. Thoughts on Kieran’s relationship with Ogerpon as a previously obsessive teenager:
(I did not proof read this. I just woke up, had the urge, and now it’s here.)
Kieran, to me, is a very relatable character. He is a shy, and quiet teenager in a small town. He lacks friendships and possibly meaningful connections with those who do spend time with him. He’s probably isolated due to the fact that he lacks a phone. Any friends he does make are likely school based only. So, Kieran latches on to anything he can to feel less alone in life. And of course he latches onto Ogerpon. Ogerpon is just like him. A sad “monster” all isolated and alone in the mountains. I’m certain that Kieran has fantasized about meeting Ogerpon and getting into wild adventures with her. I did the same thing with characters I enjoyed.
Princess Luna, for example (sorry to whiplash anyone with that), was a character I heavily related to. She was alone and isolated due to her previous actions. She struggled with fitting in and having a healthy relationship with her sister for awhile. To say I didn’t form an obsession with a character who understood my feelings would be a lie. I think Kieran is the same.
He became obsessed with Ogerpon. He become obsessed with the ideas he crafted of him and Ogerpon. In a way, that fantasy was VERY real to him. So when we come around and lie about meeting Ogerpon, and inevitably become friends with her behind his back, of course he freaks out! We stole his fantasy of him and Ogerpon! And that’s the key point here that people tend to not realize. We didn’t steal Ogerpon from Kieran, we just stole his fantasy and made it our reality.
With my obsession with princess Luna (again, whiplash), if anyone said they loved princess Luna it was a fucking attack on me. Princess Luna was my best friend, and she could only love me! Everyone else was just a jealous thief.
As an adult looking back on this mindset, it’s horribly embarrassing. It’s a mindset I carried into my real life, when I actually started making friends, that ruined so much for me. I lost friends because I was so angry that my fantasies were not reciprocated. I really do think Kieran does the same. He grows sad and frustrated over what happened with Ogerpon. His fantasy is just a fantasy, and that’s fucking with him. So naturally, he finds a new fantasy to, hopefully in his mind, make a reality. And so he chose battling and winning against you. The thing we used to “steal” Ogerpon away from him (Even though Kieran technically suggested battling for Ogerpon, I don’t doubt he used it to rationalize why she didn’t want to come with him). To him, being the best battler will solve everything. Kieran will get his revenge, he’ll finally be recognized, everyone can’t lie to him because they fear or admire him, and he’ll prove to Ogerpon he was the right choice.
.
Now, I want to say something about Kieran. A detail that, for whatever reason, people don’t like to acknowledge: He’s just a kid.
I’m not saying “He’s a widdle baby. He can do no harm!” No, Kieran’s an asshole. He became a bully. I can have empathy for his emotions, but not excuse his actions. He’s a dumb and entitled teenager with issues. And, quite obviously, he doesn’t really have a way to deal with his issues in a healthy manner (seriously, his school is based solely on battling. Anyone who’s going or gone to a specialized school can understand how toxic people can get in that type of environment. And don’t even get me started on the incompetence of the adults in Kieran’s school).
Kieran is a teenage boy growing up right now. He’s got a lot to work through, and a lot of people he’s gotta confront about his behavior. He was an asshole, a bully, and genuinely a bad person for minute. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t growing past that. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve recognition for his growth. You can recognize someone has changed and not forgive them.
Kieran is a really intriguing character and holds a valuable lesson in obsession. And I really wish people would recognize that he’s not just an irredeemable prick or an innocent little guy. He’s a kid learning. He’s going to make really stupid and bad mistakes. Just like how I, and probably you reading this, did.
Anyways, hopefully we see him interact with the Area Zero buddies. I think those three have amazing lessons that Kieran can learn from. Maybe Kieran can teach them a few things too!

Ever since I saw King Dedede wielding a star rod hammer from Fighters, I've been obsessed with it
Just the idea of...Dedede's growth from where he was in the first dream land game, and his journey of wrestling with his faults and misteps, working to be better, to do all he can to care and protect the land and it's people, truly becoming the Great King he always claims to be
And the land recognising that, the Fountain and Star Rod, the place he made his first step to protect the people, acknowledging his growth, his change
Blessing his hammer, changing it to become like the star rod
Reinforcing his place as King
Maybe it's been something he's always been afraid of, that his mistake in the past won't be forgotten, that none of it is enough, but he's chosen the role of King, not for power or any sort of reputation, but because he wants to protect people
And now here he's being gifted, blessed, acknowledged
And it's a lot and all his efforts meant something, even if it always did mean something, sometimes you just gotta hear it yourself
I just love the idea so much
He deserves it

Gotta wake up to this anon in the tags, undoubtedly referencing/shading what I reblogged here:
Tumblr media
Nonny, at least say it to my face if you wanna call me an internalized misogynist, just cuz I don't cosign the predominately white court of popular opinion's dogma that ONLY sees Lestat as the female-coded victim of Louis' "abuse" of the crossdressing campy Queen Mother de Lioncourt; while you reject any acknowledgement let alone honest discussion of Lestat as the patriarchal Coven Master terrorizing his fledglings/children--even in effing 2022 when he's setting Rat Catcher ablaze with the Fire Gift in Louis' honor & kicking him out in to the hurricane--another round in the stormy romance of you two.
And plot twist: I (mostly) agree with nonny about Anne Rice, and how she engages with (trans)gender through Louis--and I agree with Nalyra that there's also complexity to how AR engages with Lestat LATER--10+ years AFTER IWTV & her daughter Michelle's death.
Tumblr media
It's not at all easy to pin down, especially when in these convos about Loustat & gender, the most integral part of their dynamic is ALWAYS EXCLUDED by Lestans: CLAUDIA. She's only babytrapped cuz, as I've said 1000 times, Lestat was hyperaware of LOUIS' emotional/behavioral resemblance TO LESTAT'S MOTHER, GABRIELLE; and Louis' "maternal instinct," that resembled ANNE'S own excitement to be a mom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anne Rice is NOT saying Louis (or even Lestat!) represents her as a woman (in METAPHOR, not biology, DUH) cuz he crossdresses & gallivants around twirling his hair & flicking his limp wrists--I already discussed the effect of 18th century Franco-European dandyism on an 18th-century vampire stuck in the Rococo period (X X), where clothing is just ONE aspect of how masculinity & femininity are expressed--BY MEN.
Gender is MORE than Loustat crossdressing. Like I've said: it's misognyist to assume that everyone crossdressing is female-coded, while blatantly ignoring their BEHAVIOR--just like Nalyra said:
Tumblr media
I have screamed & hollered from the rooftops this whole time how the power dynamics between Loustat are being grossly misunderstood or outright overlooked, as everyone gets distracted by fun & c*nty Lestat. Somehow, ONLY Lestat gets to represent Mother, but LOUIS DOESN'T!? Sus! But I'M the misogynist homophobe for calling y'all RACISTS who can't acknowledge/accept a Black gay man in a suit (or cardigan) as a female-coded representation of motherhood, when the show's beat y'all over the head with it 1000 times? SUS!
Tumblr media
Esp. when I explicitly say Louis AS Woman, Louis AS Mother--nonny, grab a dictionary and realize that I didn't say Louis IS Mother, Louis IS Woman--it's SIMILE. It's METAPHOR. It's PARALLEL. It's CODING.
Tumblr media
It's highly problematic to reject AR's own words being "not solid" evidence (anon), or downplay it as outdated/irrelevant (Nalyra), just cuz it doesn't align with your own interpretations. That's not how proper analysis of primary sources works. It's CONTEXTUAL evidence about the processes of personal growth; just like it's contextual how AR couched her shift to Lestat in direct relation to her tryna move past her maternal depression/grief via Louis. You cannot discuss one without the other, but that's all I ever see far too many ppl do: downplaying the foundational conceptualization of these characters within the books, film, and show alike; and hiding behind accusations of homophobia & misogyny rather than honestly engaging with the characters and their behavior. You wanna talk about misogyny? How about MISOGYNOIR, and how y'all don't know EFF ALL about BLACK MOTHERHOOD, and the hypermasculinization of Black gay men, to even BEGIN to fathom everything Louis represents in contrast & relation to Massa Lestat.
Cuz there's CERTAINLY a marked lack of discussion or acknowledgement about how race factors into all of this. I see NO mention/discussion/analysis of Lestat by that anon rejecting the other side of the conversation I'm arguing against--esp. the white privilege Lestat enjoys that allows him to be far freer with explorations of gender & sexuality than black!Louis, and thus embraced by his predominately white cis female fans--who find it so effing impossible/offensive to see the ways that HIS BEHAVIOR directly contradicts the feminist ideals about agency & autonomy they allege to hold oh-so-sacred--"crushing what you cannot own."
Tumblr media
Which only further indicates that this particular propping up of Lestat in the fandom is being done at Louis'' expense in bad faith by bad actors running to everyone's accounts on anon and obfuscating the context they're even responding to.
Claudia never lied: "It's a STONING."

How do you feel about the recent billford content? I honestly have a bit of mixed feelings
I think @stephreynaart posted a great explanation to it here.
It's not a case of romanticizing BillFord. I think as a fandom we have come far enough that Bill Cipher ships are more or less something we're all aware of about the toxic aspect of it. And it's more so a case of showing that this happened and is something to grow, learn and move on from for Ford to do.
In the book we see that. Ford grew, acknowledged his mistakes with Bill and was able to move on from that phase of his life and find happiness in his family. Bill on the other hand did not and is in denial and in turn that's led him to destroy himself and people around him with his toxic behavior.
He's an emotionally manipulative and abusive person. And that's something a lot of people can likely relate to. We've all probably been in a relationship, friendship, family or other situation where we've dealt with a person like Bill; emotionally manipulative, toxic, self fulfilling, dragging you down and lying to you, etc. And we've likely been pushed into their sphere and it took a long time to realize that and escape from it, even if it feels like the wrong choice at first (god knows I've been through such shit). And when going through that and escaping, you gotta find your way to move on and past that. Finding happiness and purpose with other people, better people; be it family, community, friends, significant other, etc, is part of that growth and recovery.
We all deserve to have an end like Ford and move on from such experiences in our life at the hands of our own Bill Ciphers. Because if not...then we're stuck with Bill in that spiral. That's what I feel the Billford content is showing.
I can't speak for all, but IMO, showing that is a way to show that Bill and Ford had a relationship that was wrong and not good. It happened and showing how Ford was able to break away and find his way through it and grow is the end message.

Gotta apologize again for practically swimming in your DMs lately, but I remembered why people like 'Toph x Aang', and often cited Toph's honesty and lack of glorification to Aang as a reason why she would've been a better romantic interest for Aang than Katara. And I don't disagree with that, Toph is much more likely to put her foot down to let Aang know when he's wrong, which should urge him more to grow. But despite Toph theoretically being a better love interest for Aang, I have a question:
Would Aang be a good love interest for Toph?
Because since you, @longing-for-rain , and other Zutara supporters described Aang's immaturity very well, I have to wonder if Toph would be happy with Aang, knowing how hurtful he can get (Desert, Ember Island, did Aang even apologize for those instances?). What do you think? Do you think Aang has the qualities to be a good love interest for Toph? Could I ask this question for Ty Lee too? Because I see lots of people believing that Ty Lee would've been a good choice for Aang, but would Aang have been a good choice for Ty Lee? You know what, let's just get every popular alternative candidate out of the way, since people ship Aang with Toph, Ty Lee, Zuko, Sokka, and even Azula and Mai. Run the gauntlet (if you want to). Would Aang make a good love interest for literally ANY of the main characters?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Unpopular opinion, but as Aang is written in the show... he's not a good candidate for anyone.
Tumblr media
Wait wait wait...
Hear me out before everyone gets up in arms...
This is where we have to acknowledge that Aang is a fictional character and not a real person (we are not going to count LA Aang because technically that would make him an actual person because he is portrayed by an actual teenage boy) therefore everything is written to be as it is. However, because fiction is subjective, we can debate whether or not to treat Aang like an actual person.
So with that in mind, let's begin this deconstruction of Aang's character and how he is not a good fit for any sort of romance as he is written in the show.
Aang's Selfishness
This right here is glossed over many, many times in the show. What I mean by selfishness is the fact that he is unable to look beyond his nose when it comes to other characters and their feelings. In real life, this is a very twelve year old thing to do, but unlike real life there is no one there to call him out on it. Just the writers, and they don't even do that. That coupled with the fact that he is written to be a child, it really doesn't make sense to me. That and he is the McGuffin and 'The One' of the entire show.
Bryke sets it up to be a good show by giving us the premise right from the start, but as the seasons move on, I don't really see any development from Aang. Only the characters around him.
That being said, because you don't get that development, any relationship going forward is going to feel shallow, like most of the relationships (except sukka) feel. Zuko and Katara progress in their relationship well because there was growth from both of them.
When it comes to Aang, he is more concerned with his views than taking a moment to think about everyone else's. Of course, I applaud those who actively seek peace in their lives and with dangerous situations, but Aang is incredibly naive. He doesn't get any better, even when Zuko calls him out on it. We see Aang struggle with the solution, but then Deus Ex Lionturtle shows up and doesn't really encourage that growth.
Because you don't get that growth and him moving past how HE feels, that is where a relationship is going to fall apart. It's not toxic, but if he doesn't change then it can become that way. Again, Aang is not a narcissist. He is just selfish and naive. These are two big things that cost him.

No, I didn't see this when it was posted, but this is how you collect yourself when you fuck up. I gotta give them credit because they actually understood and comprehended the problem and apologized (unlike y'alls fave with the pretty pics and gifs).
And I never said y'all couldn't be friends with this person (who tf am I to say that?), I said y'all can't be MY friend if you fuck with people who are antiblack. This person acknowledged the issue and we're both just playing our games now. I love that for us.
ETA: I should also add, apology accepted. I love the process of growth no matter who is doing the growing.

"But it ain't about gender! It ain't about confidence or being fearless...I'm a hero, so I protect people! Once that decision's made...I gotta put my life on the line for it!"
It's only after Kirishima heard these words from Crimson Riot that he selected UA on his form again. A strong spirit is something cultivated to help others. It isn't something exclusive to/expected only of men and it doesn't require endless confidence. In other words, a girl and a quirkless boy having more heroic hearts aren't threats to his masculinity. If he is weak in spirit, he should make the decision to strengthen his heart moving forward.
This is where Kirishima succeeds where Bakugou fails. Kirishima felt insecure about those who were more heroic than him - even though as a man and someone with a quirk there was an underlying assumption he should be inherently more heroic. After getting himself together, Kirishima took it on the chin and decided to become a stronger person.
Bakugou felt insecure about Izuku's heroic spirit because according to assigned social roles Izuku shouldn't have this spirit as a quirkless person. If the roles are questioned or Izuku's spirit is acknowledged, it undermines Bakugou's self-perception as "the best". And instead of growth, he responded with a decade of suppression and violence.
Also, Crimson Riot expressed a similar idea to Lady Nagant in how much failing to save a person impacts the hero. And in retrospect, this was probably foreshadowing about the final arc. But fumbling a save narratively should be a midpoint in the journey to make the later saves more triumphant. Why end the manga on a series of failures?

I still don’t understand AFO. Why is he like this. This series repeatedly goes out of it’s way to humanize the villains but AFO is still just evil because he wants to be the demon lord and I don’t get it.
That would be the point, I feel-- AFO doesn't want to be understood or seen as "human." He wants to completely lose himself in character, wants other people to mindlessly play along with the story he's written for himself like good little extras, and wants everyone around him to acknowledge what a ~perfectly inhuman demon lord~ he is-- and he's bent the entire narrative of MHA around himself like a shield in order to accomplish that. Like, the idea of people breaking the same black and white narrative that he's been using to protect himself (and trap others) quite literally drives him insane:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"That murderer--" "You killer--" oooooo you're so mad that human nature is basically good, that people are endlessly capable of growth and healing, and that actual human beings can't simply be shoved into teeny black and white fictional boxes ooooo all the more evidence that he's gonna completely lose his shit when Tomura ultimately refuses to kill Izuku lmao
I wanna point out his speech bubbles in the second image, bc Hori frequently uses speech bubbles to emphasize a character's mental state-- Like.... Bro is literally coming apart at the seams with rage that Stain is trying to be anything more than a starter villain. 😭The english translation also kind of sort of makes it seem like AFO is simply referring to Stain by his moniker (Hero Killer), but the term he uses in the original text feels a little more... loaded, imho?? The kanji used for Stain's "Hero Killer" Moniker is "Goroshi" ("殺ごろし"), but here, AFO instead refers to him as a "Murderer" (殺人犯/satsujin-han). Calling Stain an out-and-out murderer instead of calling him by a villain moniker feels a lot more specific, a lot more pointed, and it also tells us a lot more about AFO’s fucked up sense of values.
Anyway, I've said this before, but AFO is a character who reads heavily as an escapist fantasy gone horrifically wrong. "Why is a world where villains are allowed to climb back up from rock bottom and heal so intolerable to AFO?" "why does the idea of people breaking free from their roles make AFO so angry?" "why is AFO literally trying to BECOME a comic book character?" are better questions to ask than "why is bro just evil for the sake of it," I feel. Like obviously, a world where the label of "villain" gets thoroughly and utterly dismantled is one where AFO loses his power over others.... but it's also a world that rips that protective layer of "fiction" away from him, exposes his own humanity, and destroys that delusion of becoming the "perfect villain king" that he's wrapped himself up in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tfw you LARP so hard that it ends up getting your brother killed and now breaking character means you gotta Process All Of That .................................................... Unless...? :)
What I find especially interesting about AFO is that MHA's narrative actually cooperates with shielding him from the readers, to a degree-- scenes that depict rare moments of genuine emotion are overlaid with contrary, cartoonishly evil narration that's meant to distract the reader from what's actually being depicted. The bulk of the series depicts his face being hidden in shadows even though it *literally* has no reason to be, and we don't get an unobscured look until the other characters finally start rallying together to reject his story. He is literally introduced to the series through a TV screen, which MHA has been using as a shorthand for its depiction of fantasy since day one:
Tumblr media
In my opinion, I feel the final act of "rejection" that AFO fears isn't from his brother, or his followers, or "his other self"-- what he fears is the story itself rejecting him and finally exposing him for what he is: an utterly mundane human. Like, a total freak of a guy to be sure, but still totally human. The narrative revoking its various "protections" and working against AFO to humanize him acts as the final insult to everything he claims to believe in while doubling as the last bit of confirmation that he was never gonna become a "perfect demon lord." MHA being what it is, this is something inevitable.
Where other characters in this series draw strength from their origin-- the moment that defines them as a human and individual-- AFO likely fears and rejects his own origin for this same reason.
Anyway. I would describe AFO as a wannabe-author who refuses to make public appearances or divulge details about his personal life, but ultimately reveals a little too much about himself through the "stories" and "characters" he tries to write-- so ppl still know he's a freak with issues by virtue of how fatherless his content is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Putting together all the pieces of himself that AFO accidentally lets slip is part of what makes MHA so fun (to me, at least!).

I love terumob. They're so funny. Name another dynamic in which:
They start off by one of them beating the shit out of the other and strangling them to unconciousness. Despite this, the one who wins, by wide margin even, is actually the one who got strangled, because it just so happens that he has an all powerful eldritch entity locked inside him that tears everything to pieces and flings the other into the stratosphere in response. Y'know, as one does
The next time they meet, they acknowledge none of this, and instead immediately act buddy buddy to save the strangled kid's emo brother from a terrorist organisation.
And oh yeah, the terrorist organisation is a thing now. Apparently the one who got flung to the stratosphere, the blond one, knows them because they've been targetting him? And he just lives alone?? At 14??? Where are his parents
Which is to say, not surprising that this middle schooler is perfectly ready to torture a grown man, actually. If you think about it a little bit.
And its funny because the one who got strangled, bowl cut guy, is like, real moral right? Like thats his whole thing - he just really wants to be a good person, and he wants others to be good people as well. And yet, here he is, perfectly content to hang out with someone who doesnt even blink at potentially murdering a guy.
The murdering torturing middle schooler is also a delinquent leader and a popular kid btw, did you know. Well, he was at least, until he went dramatic in the opposite direction and now dresses like if a claires waste bin and a haystack had a baby. And bowl cut is decidedly, Not any of that. He's the most normal guy ever actually.
They literally couldn't be further from each other in personality.
How are they friends.
They make no sense <3
And yet maybe they make sense after all because bowlcut wants to be better, and because of him, haystack also wants to be better. Maybe they both see each other for what they could never be. Maybe they both see in each other the best versions of them. Maybe it's the self recognition through the horribly, extremely other. Maybe it's the easy acceptance. Maybe it's the self growth.
Maybe they make sense after all.
But in the end, over all this mushy shit, it's just extremely funny, that the world's most arrogant, immoral and prideful middle schooler, with fancy hair and neat clothes and many girlfriends and flourishing prospects can get literally sent through the clouds One time by an autistic kid in a bowlcut and immediately decide to turn his whole life around, centering on the axis of this one average, not-average boy - adopting his philosophy, ruining his wardrobe, abandoning his heterosexuality, while underneath it remaining still the boy with no parents and no intrinsic morals and no real humble bone in his body. Because if he's not the best, he's gotta be the best at aknowledging he's not the best. And he's so funny.
They're silly.
And i love them.

ahh imagine the bachelors when you’re pregnant talking to your belly to get the baby to calm down at night. like the baby likes to keep you awake at night by kicking you directly in the ribs and the only thing that works is your husbands voice.
I think shane would feel super awkward at first since hes not much of a talker anyway, but it becomes a cherished nightly routine for him in the last few weeks of your pregnancy “hello, papa shane reporting for duty, its time to chill out so your mother can get some sleep” and tell it chicken stories, elliott would read poetry and shakesphere, Alex would probably talk sports to it.
I would LOVE to hear your headcanons
Deadass sleeping while pregnant is so hard, and when the tiny child your growing rolls they’re whole body while your trying to sleep? It feels so weird 😂 also listen I know Skyrim isn’t in Stardew but I love it and I know Sebastian would also, lemme have this lmao
The bachelors talking to your baby bump to calm down your unborn child so you can sleep
Harvey:
Probably a bit nervous at first because he isn’t sure what to say
But when your having issues sleeping because your unborn child keeps kicking you as hard as they can he agrees to give it a shot
Gently lays his head on your bump
“Hey there little one, your moms out here trying her best to grow you and she needs to sleep to do that, think you might be able to settle down a bit?”
Is surprised when his voice seems to calm the unborn child down
Very quickly becomes his favorite part of the nightly routine
“Well hello in there tiny one, thank you for tuning into the nightly talk show. Today we’re gonna learn about you! That’s right, tonight’s broadcast is all about your growth”
Your giggling at his little radio show impersonation
Alex:
Ya know those TikTok videos of people doing little handshakes with their wife’s pregnant bellies and then when the baby’s born? He’s doing that, just wanted to add in that tid bit lol
He probably noticed you were having issues sleeping and he could see all the wild movements from the outside
Leans down and starts talking to the bump
“Hey kiddo, I know your doing your own thing in there but momma needs to sleep, whatcha need?”
When you tell him the baby calmed down after hearing his voice he’s thrilled
Will 100% explain the rules of gridby in depth to your unborn child
“Okay so if you wanna grow up big and strong like your daddy, your gonna have to have proper nutrition, lucky for you I have years experience”
Spends almost every night at bedtime telling your unborn child all about the farm and gridby and of-course rusty the dog
Sam:
Mans been talking to your baby way before they could hear or acknowledge him
He’s just so excited
“Hey little guy, mommy’s trying to sleep so we gotta calm down, I know you wanna shred but once your out I’ll teach ya to skateboard”
Definitely goes over skateboarding safety with your unborn child
“Sam he’s not even born yet”
“Okay but he’s gotta know how to grind the pipe baby, it’s a great skill”
100% also going to blow a raspberry on your bump to startle the baby cause it’s funny
Shane:
Dude definitely chats with your baby bump all the time
Especially when your cuddling so mostly at night when y’all are going to bed
Probably the reason the infant can’t stop kicking you without hearing from daddy first
“Hey kiddo, you’ll never guess what kinda antics the chickens got up to today, I can’t wait to introduce you to Charlie”
Definitely brought Charlie in the house once and put him on your bump
“Hey kiddo, this is Charlie, he’s my favorite chicken but don’t tell the others that”
You gently pat Charlie’s head while he looks very confused about the situati
Sebastian:
Mans fully prepared to teach your kid all about video games when Theyer old enough
But when they won’t stop kicking you at night unless he talks to them? Now they get to learn early
“So in Skyrim right? There’s a whole character builder and you get to pick what race you want to be, I always go for dark elf personally but you can be whatever you want”
It’s like two hours later, your asleep and he’s still going
“So when you get to white run you have to find the jarl and tell him about the dragons attacking helgen so he’ll send troops to riverwood and then there’s a whole side mission to go on to get the dragon stone and-“

“Okay kiddo, we’ll pick this up again tomorrow night, good night my little tadpole, love you”
Presses a little kiss to your bump before going to sleep
Elliott:

It’s a nice little nightly routine, after baths and pjs and whatever snack your craving you both settle in and he grabs a book
Tonight’s book selection is the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe
“Alright little one, it’s story time”
Cozy’s up with his head on your bump
“Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered weak and weary over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore”
Loves knowing he can sooth the baby even before They’re born yet
Also loves knowing he can provide a bit more comfort to you as you grow them

I'm not in the ofmd fandom but I am intrigued by the drama. spill the tea?
OH GOD OKAY
Where do I begin lksdlgkfds
Okay so
There’s this nasty little gremlin-man in ofmd called Izzy Hands. He’s a sour, mean, skrunkly, disabled little cunt who is a firm believer in Respect and Discipline (in a very queer subby way).
This is to say: he is. Explicitly. Queer. He does drag on the show, and has a whole coming-out scene. He is a kinky masochist. He confesses his love for another man, and basically ruins his own life & everyone else's, because he is sooooo pathetically jealous about this man (his captain!) falling for some milquetoast loser white rich guy, when Izzy, a badass leather-wearing working-class sword-swinging swashbuckler, is right there making puppy-eyes at him.
He's wrong! He's horrid! He's a bastard, pickled in piss and vinegar! He's five-foot-nothing of spite and gay self-loathing! He's very fun to watch, and very, very queer.
People still insist that he’s straight. And racist. Despite there being 0 textural evidence to support this, and the creators of the show repeatedly saying that this is absolutely not what they wrote.
Why do people hate him so much? Simple! Because he ‘got in the way’ of the main ship.
Yup. It’s basically ‘bash the girl who gets in the way of our m/m otp’ only the girl is a grizzled 50-something year old pirate.
The main ship, btw, is between Ed Teach, an awesome complex flawed hopeful beautiful character of colour; and Stede Bonnet, another awesome complex flawed character. Who is a white guy. And who happens to be a rich plantation owner from the 1700s. Based on A LITERAL SLAVE OWNER. Who is explicitly shown to be a Problematic White Guy with fucked-up racist views.
Like. He’s not a perfect guy. The show makes this very, very clear - to the point where Stede pushes Ed into sex super-fast immediately after Ed says he wants to go slow, and this makes Ed run away and freak out.
But somehow, Certain Fans still insist that Izzy is to blame because :checks notes: he makes one cheeky, friendly joke about them finally getting together that is clearly given & received in good spirits.
Yeah.
There's a lot of this cognitive dissonance going on. And it's very, very wilful.
Basically: a certain subset of people who ship Ed and Stede refuse to exercise the slightest bit of critical thought of Stede’s views and actions (which are a representation of the white landed gentry!) but insist on maliciously twisting literally everything Izzy says or does to cast him as The Ultimate Villain. Whereas anyone watching the show can tell that he starts off as an antagonist-with-a-deeply-hidden-heart-of-gold, whose entire arc is about growth and redemption.
I think 99% of this is projection. Stede and Ed are not perfect by any means, but these people are so dead-set on shipping a Cute Fluffy Romance (when that. Really isn’t what the show gave us) that they have to create a villain out of Izzy and blame all of Stede and Ed’s fucked-up choices and actions on him, in the most contrived ways. Which has the added bonus of them deciding that Izzy, a white guy, is somehow responsible for literally ALL of Ed’s genuinely awful, abusive, and interesting choices in S2, where he went on his villain arc. Even though Izzy was the main victim of this villain arc. Rather than, y’know, giving Ed the agency to make his own damn decisions and acknowledging that he is a flawed and fascinating character who Hurts People but still deserves a happy ending, like literally every other main character on ofmd. Nope. Gotta infantalise that man of colour and pretend he has no control over his own life and his morality is goverened by the white men around him!
Then, they get to portray Stede as his white saviourTM who swoops in and saves Ed from ‘his own darkness’ with the power of love. 😊 because that’s not Problematique in the slightest 😊
It’s… fucked up, to put it plainly. But honestly, as much as there is a problem with their dogged insistence that Izzy is the root of all iniquity on the show, and that Ed and Stede are pure perfect angels who never did any wrong... what was worse was the relentless harassment enacted by that side of the fandom against anyone who dared show a liking for Izzy’s character. Like, it’s not the worst fandom out there by any means, but it really did make the fandom feel hostile to anyone who didn’t ship the main ship.
SO - yeah. That's the tea! OFMD was a fun show with lots of cool flawed characters. But the fandom was a cesspit, fuelled mostly by a Certain Group Of Fans' desperation to make their ship Perfect and Morally Pure - which resulted in them throwing an interesting, well-rounded, morally grey queer disabled character under the bus, and harrassing anyone who enjoyed him.

i love episodes that cast roman in a new light because u get to see a bunch of people switch from misunderstanding him in one way to misunderstanding him in a completely new and fresh way. and then when he’s the same character he’s always been in future episodes they’ll go back to the first way. and on and on forevermore. variety is the spice of life. i enjoy it. i do. but like. the thing is. u gotta acknowledge that compassion has never been inconsistent with roman’s characterisation. it crops up in certain circumstances in certain relationships and then it completely deserts him in other circumstances and other relationships. sure some of it is character growth but a whole lot of it is also just a complex and nuanced character being placed in different contexts. i’m probably just rambling at this point but you know? i just think people can be so reductive about roman idk. like drawn into a discussion on whether he fits in the binary of good or not good because of one thing he did in one situation
