Ok it's been a few years and Graceland has firmly burrowed into my brainstem. I think by now my opinion on Paige has shifted around a bit. At first I was 100% anti Paige and had no nuance on her, but now I see the potential in her, and I think if Graceland got more seasons, she could have come around tbh. I think she is the fucked up version of what Mike could have become, she'd been undercover longer than him and had already seen horrible shit before he ever moved in. Idk they're just so compelling to me now for some reason, like the Judas dynamic just scratches a good part of my brain 🤌🤌

Paige. Oh Paige. I have such complicated feelings about Paige. For the most part I still hate her so much. Like she makes me so damn angry I could scream and I hate hate HATE how she treats Mike. Like I will never forgive her for literally killing him and some of the things she says to him is insane. Her whole attitude towards Mike in season 2 infuriates me.

But yes I can see her side of things as well and there's a tragic side to her as well. She feels things so deeply and feels such a need to protect and rescue those girls in s2 that it just clouds everything else around her. S2 Paige is so angry and so heartbroken and feels so helpless and she is trying to do something good and she can't and it breaks her and she ends up blaming Mike for everything and then shit just explodes. It's heartbreaking. She's been through so much shit and she's losing the one chance she has to do some good and it's killing her and unfortunately she takes out all of her frustration and blame and anger on Mike who really is just trying to do the best he can with what he has and it all goes completely to shit. I agree that if we had more seasons I think Paige's character could have made some really fascinating strides and development. I think another season or two and my attitude on her might have changed. But sadly we don't have that and my opinion on Paige is still very low. She infuriates me and I really really hate how she treats Mike. I hate it.

One thing about Graceland that just gnaws at me though is definitely related to Paige vs Mike. That you've got this house full of older agents who have been doing this for ages. They've seen a lot of horrible shit, had to DO a lot of horrible shit. They know how bad people can be and everything they've seen and done has changed them. They're jaded and broken down from it all. And then Mike comes in and he's young and he's hopeful and he's idealistic and so so green. And at first that's refreshing. They needed some young blood to remind them why they're doing this job and how things should be. But then we watch the job affect Mike. We watch him be beaten down and while he's still that hopeful, idealistic young agent he's not the same as when they started. And it affects the whole house.

Graceland is just a show that really makes me feel things ya know!??! I'm losing my mind over it all again.

🤔 What is the hardest part of writing fic?

EDITINGGGGGGGGGG. i also find titling incredibly difficult and it's usually one of the very last steps i take in completing a fic, but editing is still so much worse 😭 i've had fics stuck in editing limbo for over a year before bc i've had so many things in it that i didn't know how to phrase the way i wanted or how to fix issues i was having.

⏰ Do you spend more time reading fic, writing fic, or do you do both equally?

depends! when i'm on breaks from school, i spend a LOT more time writing than reading because i'm usually trying to work on or even finish as many wips as i can before i have to go back. but during semesters i usually read more than write or it's about 50/50 just because of time constraints.

Brandon Jay Maclaren, the actor that plays Jakes, is one of the best actors on this show. He had me crying when he gave Paige the ballerina. He is amazing.

Are there any tropes that Aaron T hasn't portrayed yet that you'd like to see him do?

Oh god yes. So many. I want to see him do all of my favorites if I'm honest. I'm am really really hoping he is in another tv show like Graceland once he's done on Moulin Rouge. He wrapped Schmigadoon s2 and he's currently filling in for Derek Klena on Moulin Rouge until April 11. Hopefully after that he'll get another tv show and hopefully it'll be the kind that places his character in danger so I can get some new Tveit whump.

Anyway! Tropes that I'd like to see him do. Here we go:

drowning. I haven't seen him do any really good drowning tropes. The closest was when the Graceland team held him under the water to get his fever down but I don't count that as drowning.

a panic attack. And I mean like a full on panic attack. Gasping for breath, full of fear panic attack

hypothermia. Like that time TK was hypothermic in 911 Lone Star.

kidnapped and hung from the ceiling by his wrists. I adore this trope and yeah I'd love that to happen

just a full on limp body collapse to the ground unconscious.

you know how hyped I am for coma!Buck in 911? Yeah i want that for him.

Got an ask yesterday about show recommendations, so here are a bunch of shows I’ve watched and loved. Most of them have ended so they’re available to fully binge but there are a few in the mix which are still airing!

Dramas

Revenge - if the Count of Monte Cristo was a blonde bombshell bad bitch

Frontier - dark af, 18th-century drama surrounding the North American fur trade. Jason Momoa's acting is so good in this oh my worddd

Euphoria - if i describe it, you wouldn't watch it. It's basically a teen drama written for adults, Zendaya is the main character, it's so fucking well written

This is us - everyone in this show is just so fucking amazing. Need to catch up big time

Crime/Cop Shows

Hightown - dark af crime show, kinda hard to describe but it's so good. Currently waiting impatiently for s2 to come out

Luther - dark af, amazing cat and mouse dynamic for brio lovers, IDRIS ELBA, super well written, only 20 eps total so it's a fast binge

Killing Eve - amazing cast, cat and mouse dynamic, dark comedy

White Collar - light-hearted crime dramedy, Matt Bomer is so good as Neal, can't help but fall in love

Power - darker organised crime show. Super well written for the first 4 1/2 seasons (I'm meh on the last 1 1/2), production and soundtrack are amazing.

The Blacklist - First 5 seasons are phenomenal, 6-8 are a tad confusing, but I can't tell if they've lost the plot or it's going somewhere, leaning towards the latter. Still airing weekly on NBC. James Spader is incredible as Raymond Reddington

Person of Interest - One of the best shows I've ever watched. Fucking incredible from start to finish.

Prison Break - another incredible show, revival season wasn't as good, but I still loved it.

Graceland - I have such a soft spot for this show. I really love most of the characters, plus Manny's there as Johnny who's literally sunshine personified.

Mayans MC - sons of anarchy spinoff (you don't need to watch SOA to get by, I haven't seen it) pretty dark crime drama. Latinx main cast. So many morally grey characters

Legal/Political Shows

How to Get Away with Murder - fucking amazingggggg. Shit gets dark at times. Viola Davis, that's all I'm saying

Scandal - political drama, Kerry Washington is a powerhouse, really great cast, got a bit wobbly in the last couple seasons but it's a great show

Suits - I adore this show. One of my favourites. It's not one that takes itself too seriously most of the time, definitely more of a comedic law show, but the characters are all so good

Comedies

Jane the virgin - kind of a rom-com drama. Really fun, easy watch.

2 broke girls - made me fall in love with Kat Dennings. Literally fucking hilarious and Max is my spirit animal, the sarcastic hoe

Santa Clarita Diet - horror comedy and probably one of the most effortlessly funny shows I have ever seen. The fact Netflix cancelled it is insane, but it was a good ride, while it lasted.

Scream Queens - completely ridiculous horror comedy, it's stupid as shit but hilarious
