The Sign (Sat YT) ep 9 of 12 - I love this show so damn much. This may be my KinnPorsche. It’s just so endlessly entertaining in a perfectly unhinged way. I love that they looped Tharn’s dad back into the murder investigations.

You know kinksters have invented necklaces that can’t come off… right? Just saying.

Meanwhile, would it still be BL if our seme didn’t wake up from drowning and instantly go chase snake?

No. No it would not. 

Remember the one hard and fast rule of BL? When a seme gives a BJ it’s penance. Phaya is apologizing to Tharn for leaving him behind.

Pit Babe (Fri iQIYI) ep 10 of 14 - How is this absurd creature managing to rise in the ranks? Pavel turned in some stellar grief and ALANJEFF have my whole heart. I make Ikea puns in the... Trash watch happening here.

Cooking Crush (Sun YT) ep 7 of 12 - The make-out montage was absolutely charming and very much American rom com style - interesting (and rare) to see in a BL (not to mention from OffGun. How far we have come since Puppy Honey?)

Meanwhile, another wonderful grandma in a BL!

Next week we do an actual harken back to Puppy Honey, so obviously I’m now enjoying this whole show way more than before. I think it helped that I watched it earlier in the week, when it wasn’t competing with any other BLs. 

Last Twilight (Fri YT) ep 11 of 12 - Not gonna lie, I knew from you all that this was gonna be a rough ep. But I very clearly remember the penultimate Bad Buddy ep so I now have slightly more trust than others in GMMTV on this matter. 

That said, this was a crap episode.

You can’t set Mork’s truth and character motivation reveal up like that and then have his lover choose to dismiss him in a way that diminishes not just both character's growth AND all of Mork's actions towards Day, but also our faith in every other character. It was a shitty narrative thing to do to us, and it was a shitty thing to do to Mork. And that doesn’t even take into account the forgiveness allotted by the story to Day’s unrepentant excuse for a mother.  The doom should have been handled differently. The mom shoudl have leaned in even more evil and actively lied to split them apart.

I don't know if they can redeem this misstep in the final episode. But I'm interested to see them try. That said, this plot seem to be true to the book. 

For Him (Thurs iQIYI) ep 8 of 12 - A major trigger has landed. But also it’s clear who’s fault that incident was... and it’s not Him’s. So Blue's so-called-friend really is unhinged. This episode was a little bit more engaging than last week, but it’s only because stuff actually happened. I’m still not sure I enjoyed it. 

Twins the series (Fri GaGa) ep 12fin - Despite the fact that I’ve been annoyed by the show the last couple of episodes, I’m still sad for it to end. It was a good reveal and First had the right response. Also a very sports way to end it. Sprite is a v clingy bf. 

In brief?

A messy very Thai pulp sports romance that actually managed to involve sports in an identical twins trading-places plot. Basically Not Me meets HIStory 2 Crossing the Line (although vastly inferior to either) with an endearing main character and a good lead pair (poor things), both soapy and earnest without too much camp. It tried so hard but the plot, side couples, and extraneous characters let us down. Passable if not great. 7/10 

Time the series (Thai Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - Eh. Whatever.

Although I Love You and You AKA Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Japan Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - Funny how quickly he retracted that confession and everyone called him out for doing it too soon (including me from a narrative beats perspective). It was a cute screw up - I see what your meta-arse is doing there, Japan. Also our Tokyo-boy’s serious reserved earnestness is extra adorable in the surrounded by Osaka enthusiasm context. His accidental flirting is that much more heart wrenching for our poor baby seme.  And they ended this ep with honorific negotiations!! Be still my heart. I’m really adoring this show.

Your hyung romance super fan is back in the game! 

Meanwhile the Osaka accent is beyond adorable. 

Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 6 of 8 - Japan what are you doing? I do love the not-sorta-ex from the past. 

VIP Only (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 10fin - I loved all the young people in the hawker center supporting the campaign against the terrible mother. They make a good domestically sappy couple. But that is Taiwan's specialty.

In brief?

A sweet if aimless story about a writer and a chef finding love via noodles, fake dating, and family challenges. If it had a tighter script and a shorter run, more like a KBL this might’ve been quite special. But it didn’t and it lost me too many times. 6/10

I don’t like to be disappointed by Taiwan.

The Whisperer (Sun ????) 10 eps - Ends next week. Thai horror BL that ALSO involves cheating (what joy is mine). I don't think even the perfect single dimple can motivate me to watch. Word is... it's terrible.

7 Days Before Valentine (Weds WeTV) 10 eps - Giving me Luminous Solution vibes. I'm waiting to binge if safe.

any headcanons about the kp boys' favourite games? doesn't matter if it's board games, video games, card games, or mind games -- everything is fair game :')

Khun - internet quiz games like "which character are you" or "what cliche trope would you kiss" or whatever/etc etc. specifically, he likes taking them and then ranting about all the ways they're stupid and/or wrong.

Kim - claims its poker because he spent several years teaching himself how to count cards after he and Khun watched that one heist movie that involved counting cards. he liked Clue as a kid but then got extremely disappointed in it as he grew up. his university friends spend about four months trying to get him to download the among us game, then refuse to play with him after four days of him absolutely kicking ass at it. (new freshman hazing initiation ritual! Try To Beat Wik At Among Us! best played in a large group with a heckling peanut gallery.)

Chay - before Yok's bar, first person shooting games. or any type of shooting game really. less so afterwards.

Macau - ultimate videogame connoisseur. solid collection of board games for him and Vegas too (no scrabble though, he hates scrabble). his game room is a thing of legend. someone remind me to talk about the Macau&Chay you got mail AU that includes Chay calling Macau his sugar daddy after Macau gives him a bunch of turnips in Animal Crossing.

Vegas - he says mind games. his actual favorite game is pub trivia night. specifically in Pete's hometown where he and Pete's grandma team up against a bunch of other old people. have I mentioned I love a good relationship between Vegas & Pete's grandma.

Pete - he thought board games, because Khun's game rules are ridiculous but great at keeping things lively. he's extremely disappointed when Vegas and Macau don't like that at all. he is king of poker.

Porsche - card games! doesn't really have a specific favorite game and never plays for stakes, but one deck having multiple game options is a godsend when trying to entertain a kid on a budget. also damn good at card tricks, though he was careful not to show off those outside of home.

Kinn - Sudoku. he has an app folder of similar number games and spider solitaire on his phone. he is my favorite old man <3

Chay bonus - before BOC kinnporsche aired, one of my favorite Chay headcanons ever was pickpocket!Chay. so let's return to that and Chay breaks Kim's mind with card tricks. this is his new favorite game.

I love how KPTS is canon divergence of the novel. Bless BoC, whoever wrote the plot for the KinnPorsche The Series is doing god's work. And also the wardrobe, and the cinematography, and THE EVERYTHING! Watching KPTS has sent my expectation of Thai BL Series (or BL in general) through the sky.

Amyway, for me who watched KPTS first, the novel is definitely feels like a fanfiction. One where the characters are too OOC for their own good lol. I admit I only read the fan translation, not the official one. So maybe the writing style is only weird for me because it's not a professional one? Who knows.

I only read the VegasPete novel (Like I said before, I was ONE chapter in reading KinnPorsche novel and just… gave up). Tbh I don't even remember half of it. Like, seriously, I don't remember most of the scene from the novel. How'd Pete ran from the safe house? Come to think of it, were there safe house in the novel? There're no VegasPete poolscene in the novel right? Vegas got into car accident instead. How'd it play out? How'd Vegas and Pete conversation go in the coup?

(But I still remember Venice of course. And Nop!)

And then there's chapter where Vegas, Pete, and Venice went to Pete's hometown right? To meet Pete's grandma? (which I also didn't remember how it went)

Then there's also chapter where Pete went on vacation with Main Family without Vegas and Venice? And there's scene where Vegas and Pete went back and forth comment on social media (instagram I think?) Am I hallucinating this? Or they're just fics on Ao3? Man VegasPete is messing with my brain.

4 Minutes Ep 7 Rewatch + Ep 8 Live Blogging

The very last week of this show, woah. Very curious and nervous how they'll wrap it up. By the end of KinnPorsche I was so over it but I really liked DFF ending (last 10 minutes not withstanding and even then I chose to believe in the more bleak possibility), so I hope this one ends in a good way. Not in the sense that it's a happy ending but rather a suitable ending.

Ep 7 Rewatch (Sep 12)

As usual, when I watched in last Friday, I watched the regular version that's ~2 minutes shorter + was watching it on my phone + it was on the bus with the sun shining so I couldn't see the screen properly. So here's me watching it again on my laptop full-screen.

Ep 8 (Sep 13)

Couldn’t watch during lunch break but I ended up going on Twitter a few times and got spoilers such as Fuaiz dying in two series lol and Fuaiz-JJay having similar endings here and DFF apparently.

My headphones are glitching so I can only watch it when holding in a certain way but at least now I downloaded the episode with data and so can also watch when on the subway

i don’t understand Great and Tyme’s relationship (well maybe it’s more understandable after the 4 minutes timelines) but I do get Lukwa/Den lol how cuteee

ohhh the room that Lukwa and Great met at was an art exhibition! I love this actually because I was like ?? if they met in their consciousness, but also I’ve been going to art exhibitions and museums lately and have enjoyed a few of the video art rooms like this, so it feels like great timing for me bc I wouldn’t have had this experience if this show had come out a few months ago. And this art exhibit touched them so deeply and thoroughly that they internalized it for when they went through literally live and death experiences

but who is this ominous woman who did the presentation? it really as if she granted them those 4 minutes lol (though Korn went through the same thing without seeing the exhibit)

wild that Great literally just left while Lukwa was dying lol but it wouldn’t even be his second most egregious crime in that timeline

I read that Bible was dissatisfied with some sort of choice (?) in the final episode and it wasn't to his liking and I wonder if it's this money and bringing parents back thing? but he chose to be a better person so idk like idk what other choice Great has made this episode

yknow there are multiple series where it feels like i’ve seen this sort of “villain ends up in hospital and instead of killing people are gleeful at them being stuck in bed and needing help for all bodily functions” and like yknow pretty much all of us will end up there someday. those who are disabled aren’t being punished

ohh maybe it’s this decision? Great turning himself in for Dome’s death. but what about that woman's death from the hit and run

pls not them faking out "oh maybe this is fake in your mind" smhh At least when DFF did the fakeout escape, it made a more compelling "oh they're actually all still stuck in that house" interpretation even though they were too cowardly to actually show that. doing the opposite where they tease a more compelling ending while the actual ending is unearned is like what...

Last episode thoughts:

I think it focused on the wrong things, specifically when it came to Great and Tyme. What was the point of Tyme's 4 minutes trip? Nothing happened except he also in his fake timeline fell in love with Great for some reason. From my tags on a post: Maybe we can convince ourselves that great was lonely and was just looking for somebody to care about him and decided to latch onto tyme in his dying moments thus his 4 minutes romance. but what was tyme's 4 minutes even about?! why did he spend all of it falling in love with great in it?!?!?! and what was the point of it fr like his timeline did nothing affected nothing. great could've just woken up when real life tyme was calling him on the hospital bed if we Needed to have tyme wake great. in Triage when the other guy was in the loop there was a very clear purpose and mission and it aligned with the story, he had to save the doctor this time. i thought us getting to see tyme go into his own timeline at the very end would lead to something like that, whether it be uncovering some mysteries, figuring out the mechanics of this phenomena, or what. But instead he just went on fakes dates with Great.

And then once they woke up, it didn't focus on their recovery or them meeting each other again or the 4-minutes phenomena at all. We didn't even really see Great wake up, we saw his alternate self wake up. Why didn't we see Great and Tyme finding each other in the real world where they have a very broken not-even-friendship and how to reconcile the real person with who they each had in their head (because it's not truly the other person in their head) - unless we were maybe supposed to think it was because of the river incident where Great drove to the river even though he didn't know it was there in his dream timeline.

Are we just assuming that the timelines are all fake and doesn't affect the real timeline, thus no explanation or discussion of it necessary? but then why are Great and Tyme's relationship not explored at all outside of their fake ones aghhh.

man, why did they not actually explore any of the things that the story started on in this finale.

I liked the Tonkla-Korn-Win showdown because it's delicious to have to confront everything at once, nowhere to hide and so many secrets come spilling out. Korn is an asshole and Tonkla should've killed him but he technically did do that because Tonkla dying lead to Korn killing himself. Win is such a dumb bitch, how did he get to just continue living life normally and continue with his job? How wasn't he investigated or in agony at what he's done (the way Tee from DFF was)? And why did we not have a conclusion to the corruption of cops and how they have impunity and get away with anything the way we had started off but now Win's just a good cop and that's that? And Tonkla died so... unceremoniously. Man :( Also despite my dislike for Korn, I think Korn/Tonkla is really compelling and it's like woah when we realize that Korn actually loved Tonkla even though his priorities were whack by the end and him persistently trying to have sex with Tonkla that one time was scary. It's like Korn might "love" Tonkla but he's still not... good at love him and he's not a kind/good person even though he maybe loved Tonkla. idkidk I enjoy a good tragedy.

Actually I also wish we got some more of Tonkla POV in this episode rather than just through Korn's eyes.

There was a post that was like this is like GMMTV ending and I agree, they went with the the easiest, most non-sensical romantic route despite it not suiting the story but gotta make it all romantic because it's BL/GL. smh.

I dont mind that Great and Tyme both woke up instead of a “Great went through this whole thing in his mind and nothing changed and he dies” because although I can enjoy a bleak/tragic ending, I don’t know necessarily that that’s the only suitable ending my for the story. like if it was even more character focused and focused mostly on Great and his character development on his deathbed, then maybe but we had many characters and like mystery and suspense with the business and Tonkla stuff so I feel like tragedy isn’t the only viable solution. so it's not that I wanted a tragic ending for them but right now... it still doesn't feel like the earlier fake-timeline eps actually did anything??? like it's not real to me. I know Sammon said in Twitter that apparently it's an alternate timeline that affects the real one but uh, not according to the show.

Overall:

It's a shame that the last episode was not very good and it didn't tie up things well or do anything meaningful with the 7 episodes that came before it because I quite enjoyed 7/8 eps of the show and even enjoyed the Tonkla portion of the story. I enjoyed the characters (and how terrible they were) and what I thought was going on. It was a good Friday watch + I liked it even more when I binge rewatched eps 1 - 6 and was anticipating the show even more. And yet, it feels like they didn't explore the themes and potential of the storylines enough, especially the whole 4 minutes thing. It's fine, I don't hate the show and really liked most of the show but it feels like the last ep took the wind out of it.

Overall: 6.5/10 - a rating that hurts me because it was one of my most anticipated and for so long too.

I'm so happy you enjoyed my Arm/Tankhun fic — they are one of my favorite KinnPorsche rarepairs and the first one to really capture my heart while I was watching the show!

I'm thrilled that you asked this because I have SO many headcanons for these two, both separately and together. In no particular order, they include:

Tankhun picked out Pol and Arm to be his bodyguards because they are the tallest bodyguard and the shortest bodyguard respectively, and he finds their height disparity amusing. The fact that their personalities meshed well with his was a complete coincidence.

I have backstory headcanons for all the bodyguards that I have imagined so vividly at this point that sometimes I forget they're not canon. My headcanon for Arm is that he was in the military for a couple years before Chan recruited him to come work for Korn. That's where he got his weapons-handling training. It also means that Arm is a trained field medic, which you can see in the way he rushes in when Porsche has been drugged and when Big [rest of sentence lost in incoherent sobbing]. He has some experience helping people manage PTSD because of this, which gives him real empathy for Tankhun and makes him essential when Tankhun's in crisis.

After Kinn announces that he's in love with Porsche, Tankhun marches directly to the equipment office and is like ARM DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?? Arm, who has been catching them on the CCTV for weeks and is dying to talk about it with someone, already has a highlight reel of "Kinn and Porsche being unsubtle all over the house" edited together and ready to go (he's kept it PG-13 because he's classy like that and because he doesn't want Kinn to actually murder him). Arm and Tankhun watch the whole thing together with popcorn and much squealing in delight and horror, following which Tankhun storms up to Kinn's room like KINN! WE EAT ON THAT TABLE KINN!

Arm grew up watching lakorns with his mom and grandma and loves them. I mentioned this in Brave Enough for Everything but he's the only bodyguard who actually doesn't mind all the TV.

I also alluded to this in the fic, but Tankhun finds Arm's street clothes genuinely, painfully distressing. After they're together, they have a protracted battle about the degree to which Arm is willing to let Tankhun dress him, which results in Arm staying a lot more normcore than Tankhun would like but at least he's wearing some bright colors sometimes and his clothes fit him properly now.

Arm and Tankhun stayed up all night making the glitter-bomb robots from the finale. Tankhun thought his dad was dead and knew they were on the brink of war with the minor family, and Arm invented this Battle Craft basically on the fly to give him something to focus on and keep him from spiraling out.

Speaking of which — do you ever think about how in the finale, when Erika comes out with guns blazing, Arm and Tankhun are right there in the office behind her? They're in lockdown right behind that wall, listening to their friends and Tankhun's brother get shot at, watching on the CCTV. There's no universe where Arm isn't holding Tankhun tight for all of that.

I know there are more — I could talk about these good good boys all day — but this is getting long and those are the ones off the top of my head. What are your favorite ArmKhun headcanons?

More Asian QL reviews! Mostly Thai boys as usual, but a Japanese GL at the end!

KinnPorsche

What's it about? Kinn is the son of a mafia boss. Porsche is a bartender who happens to help him out once, and is then coerced into becoming his bodyguard.

Genre: Mafia action, possibly comedy?

Watch if you enjoy: Mafia tropes. High heat. Belligerent sexual tension that turns increasingly playful with time. Having a very hard time deciding what is or what is not meant to be funny. (I have a feeling some of the stuff I found funny wasn't meant to be.) Emotionally repressed vs emotionally oversharing teenage side couple, with love songs. Kinky dom/sub human pet sidecouple #2. Flamboyant drama queen with mental health issues who may be the most sensible of the bunch. Plot that is all over the place even when it isn't twisty (which it is quite often).

Gayer version of: your local kink club's Bugsy Malone theme night

Recommended? Hm. Yes for its influence, no for actual quality, but yes again if you just want some fun mafia hijinks without having to think or feel too much. And it never gets QUITE as bad again as the first five minutes. In some ways it's the worst of the QLs I've watched so far, but it's more entertaining and memorable than several of them. And ironically, it's one of the shows I've found myself writing fic for.

Laws of Attraction

What's it about? Tinn's beloved niece is hit by a car belonging to the son of senator Thatthep. Opportunistic lawyer Chan first works for Thatthep, but soon finds himself asking questions that puts him at odds with the senator. Despite their different outlooks on life, Tinn and Chan may have a common goal.

Genre: lakorn (Thai soap opera), action, drama

Watch if you enjoy: High suspense. Morally grey protagonist. Warm and righteous other protagonist. Changing your mind completely about at least one character. Having your heart broken and then laughing your ass off within a span of ten minutes. Lots of gay side characters, including a pair of badass lesbians. Best grandma currently on TV. Great emotional content. A few laughably bad action scenes and VFX.

Gayer version of: The Pelican Brief

Recommended? Yes! I watched it as it aired and could barely stand waiting for a week between episodes! Just make sure you can cope with dead child, dead dog, dead mom, and parental abuse.

La Pluie

What's it about? A world in which, during the rain, certain people can hear the voice of their soulmate – and ONLY that. But is the soulmate thing really real, or just a way to explain an inexplicable phenomenon?

Genre: Romcom/drama

Watch if you enjoy: Nice people solving their problems nicely and with very little unnecessary drama. Subversion of both soulmate and BL tropes (though ultimately bending to the foregone conclusion). Loving families. Understanding exes. Sometimes a cat.

Gayer version of: I want to say TiMER (2009), but that film was a whole lot messier. This is sweet.

Recommended? Kind of? I think it's well done for what it is, but that twelve hours of low-stakes relationship drama, where every crisis is averted, was a bit long for me personally. Plus, it turns out that I don't like soulmates even when they're being turned upside down and shaken around. But if the premise seems like something up your alley, I thoroughly recommend it!

To Sir, With Love / Khun Chai

What's it about? It's the 1940s, and Thailand is at war. Mr. Song, the wealthy but elderly leader of the Five Dragons association, has two sons with two different wives. Yang is the cheeky rascal, Tian is the obedient and hardworking one. Tian, as the eldest, is set to take over business, and all would be well if not for one little secret: he is gay. If this becomes publicly known, it could ruin the reputation of the whole family.

Genre: soap opera

Watch if you enjoy: More JamFilm after Laws of Attraction, with Film in a radically different role. Brothers supporting each other. Overcoming homophobic surroundings. Rivalling soap queens who will literally walk over corpses for power – and supposedly for their sons, who want none of it. Magic murder mushrooms and other glittery potions. Obedient business heir vs. taciturn assassin gay romance. Feisty het side romance with a lady love who is so sweet and soft spoken that you underestimate what an absolute MVP she is. Acting that ranges from fantastic to terrible. (Looking at you, Nuan!) Absolutely stunning costumes.

Gayer version of: Dynasty, but also I Claudius (what with all the murder).

Recommended? Ye-es? It's more soap opera than BL, so keep that in mind. And there's a lot of Rich People Bullshit. But if you're okay with that, I do recommend it! It ate my brain for several weeks, after all. And if you liked Laws of Attraction, you absolutely MUST see at least a couple of episodes, to experience the whiplash of the difference between Film's roles in those two shows.

Gay OK Bangkok (Seasons 1 and 2)

What's it about? A bunch of friends, boyfriends, hookups and acquaintances, and how they handle their relationships and life's other issues.

Genre: slice of life

Watch if you enjoy: People who feel like actual people. Down to earth relationship drama that doesn't necessarily end well for everyone. Compassion towards the characters even if they're sometimes being dicks. Multiple PSAs about HIV prevention. A relatively short run. (Season 1 is 5x30 minutes, season 2 7x45.)

Gayer version of: Oddly enough, I want to say 90s Degrassi. (The fact that Degrassi was the first show I ever saw that handled HIV may have something to do with it.)

Recommended? Yes! Season 1 is absolutely brilliant, and only some technical issues (soundmix, lack of subtitles for written info) kept me from putting it among my absolute favourites. Season 2 has more and longer episodes but less of a red thread, which means that while all the individual scenes are still well written and well acting, the first half in particular feels a little aimless. But it comes back swinging in the last few eps, and I have also seen viewers who preferred season 2 over season 1!

Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna / She loves to cook, she loves to eat

What's it about? Nomoto's hobby is cooking, but she lives alone and always ends up making too much food. One day, she notices how much food her neighbour Kasuga brings home and gets an idea: maybe Kasuga would like to eat some of what she cooks!

Genre: romcom

Watch if you enjoy: Sweet, understated, tentative romance. Lots and LOTS of cooking/eating scenes. (Don't watch while hungry! Do watch to get kitchen inspiration, if you are so inclined!) Lesbian self-discovery. Lots of serious issues in a fluffy setting: class, misogyny, heteronormativity, fat shaming, family hierarchies, and more.

Gayer version of: Julie and Julia

Recommended? Yes! It's very sympathetic and not very long (10 episodes of 15 minutes). The ending is a little unresolved, but fortunately there's a second season promised for 2024.

Between this and Old Fashion Cupcake, I do wonder if all Japanese QLs double as food porn...

would you mind explaining the ones you reblog frequently (kinnporsche and gap)? based on the GIFs and text posts they seem like something i would want to watch, but i’m admittedly pretty new to asian dramas in general and don’t even know where one would watch them haha. you don’t have to spoil anything major, just kind of a general synopsis & where you watch them would be great 😊

Both KinnPorsche and GAP are Thai shows! KP is a BL (boy love) drama and GAP is a GL (girl love) drama.

KinnPorsche

Tells the epic love story of Kinn and Porsche (hence the name lol). Kinn the heir to the Theerapanyakul mafia empire who crosses paths with Porsche, bartended and part-time street fighter who is then hired (against his will) to be Kinn's bodyguard. It's got mystery, intrigue, family fuckery, a pet hedgehog, way too many Maseratis, Tankhun, a Ducati that sees a lot of action, Deutsche Bank being an A+ LGBT ally, eating bread as a form of foreplay, abundance of daddy issues, a boatload of emotionally constipated men, etc.

Essentially 10/10 would recommend - also, I am obsessed with the second lead couple (Vegas and Pete)

There are some TW: potential dubcon, mafia stuff (murder, drugs, etc), Vegas (the guy, not the city. No, for real. The entire character is a walking red flag and a pathetic meow meow at the same time. You need to watch to understand), torture as a form of foreplay (again... Vegas), Jeff Satur serving gender, and probably something else that I am forgetting.

Where to watch it: IQIYI (Paid subscription) or dramacool/kisskh if you cannot don't have the spare $$$ for a subscription service

GAP

Tells the epic love story of Sam and Mon. GAP is the hottest sapphic drama in town and it's got it all: forbidden office romance, lesbians who are dating but are unaware of it, miscommunication (by the boatload), a very important learning moment on "why your nails need to be trimmed in order to avoid disaster", a wardrobe department to die for, a homophobic grandma I would like to kill, a scorned (maybe) fiancée', the average lesbian experience of falling in love and planning your wedding in the span of a week, major disrespect towards the singles community etc.

It's got quite a few camp moments that made me want to climb walls tbh but overall I loved it.

Other shows that I've watched and enjoyed: Semantic Error [Viki -free] (Korean: enemies to lovers, university edition), Not Me [Youtube - free] (Thai: be gay, do crimes against the corrupt government and institutions. Amazing soundtrack). Currently watching (and crying over it): Moonlight Chicken [Youtube - free] (Thai: a one night stand develops Feelings™️. Featuring a social commentary on how to process grief, how to survive as a lower middle class person in a post-pandemic world, how to navigate the end of a relationship when you fall out of love with someone, how having a disability can make you feel so isolated, and many other ever day issues)

Tagged by @adanima, first time I’ve ever been tagged before so thank you!!

Rules: share something about an idea you have/something that’s speaking to you/an au you’d like to see and are considering writing/etc. etc. Basically anything that is tempting you away from your current wips!

First, I would like to clarify for anyone who checks my tumblr for ao3 updates that I’m being kept away from my WIPs because I’m in the middle of finals and I will be back to updating fics when it’s over.

Second, most of the AUs I post in my tumblr are not on ao3 solely because I do intend to write most if not all of them at some point including my babytrapping AU which exploded today for some reason (chapter 1 is already halfway done).

In terms of ideas I have but haven’t fleshed out yet:

Pete gives in and lets Vegas give into his family urge to atticwife. This is very directly connected to my belief that Pete left Vegas at the safehouse for 2 reasons: loyalty and because Vegas failed to convey that he loved him. It's also connected to my inherent dislike for leaving my house. Pete's lived basically half his life stuck in the Main House with Tankhun. You can't convince me that Pete wouldn't be perfectly fine being an attic wife. It's just his pesky sense of duty and also because Vegas screwed up and made him think he was an emotional punching bag instead of the love of his life that he left.

more Pete and Porsche being friends. I don't think there's a concrete timeline of events. Theoretically, it seems like it could be interpreted that everything happened right after another but also it's more juicy to think that there were time skips. More fleshing out their friendship. What chaos did they get into during this time?

Porsche not immediately getting over the whole Tawan storyline. I'm still salty over this. Up until this point, I actually believed that Chay would be Porsche's one hard line in the sand. And not only did Kinn pull the I trust no one (whether he meant it or not, the mere fact that he didn't tell Porsche his plan in advance is telling enough), but his whole thing with the ex (which I would also hold a grudge for) put Chay in danger. I still can't believe KinnPorsche basically went back to happy couple in 2.5 seconds.

KimChay: I've seen plenty of posts that Chay is very bold. Also, too nonchalant about the whole my brother joined the mafia thing. AU where Chay actually got isekied into KinnPorsche but also never actually watched it, just witnessed parts of it on Tumblr and knows the basics and some random things but does not really know how the show goes.

the alternate version of my Switch fic on ao3 where instead of precanon Pete switching places with his postcanon self, it's Vegas.

actually, I would also like a KimChay version of a Switch too. This is why Chay is so bold. It would make so much sense.

soulmate AU. I'm always a sucker for a soulmate AU and also love at first sight. But PetePorsche platonic soulmates. Porsche avoiding Vegas not because of Kinn but because Pete has had a crush on him for ages. Porsche telling Kinn that he's dumping him if Pete doesn't like him. Pete deciding that since he's more senior and has more vacation days saved up, he'll spend a few with Chay who should go meet his grandma. Tankhun delighted that two of his squad are soulmates and letting the two become more and more chaotic as they realize how much they can get away with because Tankhun will protect them.

more Tankhun squad shenanigans. Arm, Pol, Pete are ride and die. Porsche is learning but he'll get there. The shenanigans they get up to which Tankhun allows and enables.

I'm going to end this here because the longer I think about it, the more ideas I'm getting. I always love when people interact with me on Tumblr so thank you @adanima who I think of very fondly as the first person to ever interact with me on my first Tumblr post.

thinking about how i want a fic post-series canon where korn basically tells the whole mafia world that vegas and macau died in the shoot out tragically so that the two of them are forced to fuck off into the horizon with pete and stay out of the theerapanyakul empire

so pete takes vegas and macau to his old hometown with grandma and a shitton of retirement money thrown at them by korn (and he periodically sends them more money just for kicks) which means that pete opens up a little dojo teaching small children how to defend themselves from abusive adults, vegas doesnt quite go for therapy but is given the space and time to heal, and macau is shit outta luck bc he still gotta study in uni

also with the fake death nonsense that means vegas and macau are saengtham now and if anyone even looks at her grandson-in-law funny, grandma is likely to throw her cane at them

i just wanna see vegas bloom from having to put on his manipulative fake genial mask on in front of grandma to actually genuinely enjoying her knowledge and company and learning from her bc so much of pete came from her and vegas finds he loves this kindly old woman as much as he loves his husband

vegas going for old ppl taichi with grandma and afternoon gossip sessions in the local park where a bunch of old ppl gather with homemade snacks and drinks and share neighbourhood/town news with each other and he finally gets a chance to find a sense of community in the people around him who he thought were extremely distant and removed from the mafia circle but it turns out when you live till this sorta age you see all sorts of horrible shit in life too

im thinking about a plate sliding off a table and triggering vegas' memory of kan and he pretty much has ptsd and starts losing his shit in public despite not wanting to and the whole painful spiral of going thru that and the community elders who sit thru it with him and guide him firmly but gently out of shell shock because they have seen trauma in so many loved ones and now vegas is one of those people too

Grandma watches Kinnporsche ep 5

It’s been about 5,000 years but Grandma and I are finally back on our Kinnporsche bullshit after I showed her the first 4 eps back in…idk, May? June? They’re all tagged “grandma watches kinnporsche” if you want to find them on my blog, I’m too lazy to hunt them down rn lol.

THE POINT BEING: Grandma was totally into the show, but Covid, vacations, work schedules, family happenings, etc. meant we didn’t get as much time to hang out with just the two of us over the summer. But last night we had the whole evening together and she was down for more KP so I fired up the TV while we ate dinner. We rewatched ep 4 bc it’s been so long, so we only had time for ep 5 after that, which sucked bc it ends on a cliffhanger oops lol

Here’s a collection of her ep 5 reactions:

She was really impressed by that scene where Porsche breaks down in the bathroom, I thought she was gonna cry. She said it reminded her of a thriller movie (she loves those lol).

This specific shot made her gasp out loud. Porsche visuals winning again 😌

We get to the super dramatic, devastating scene where Kinn and Porsche try boning other people. I’m in my feelings, heart full of the Cinema™️, and then there’s that moment where Kinn rips his slutty red robe off and I look over just in time to see MY 85-YEAR-OLD GRANDMA go “MMhmMm” in the most salacious way possible. I had to pause the tv I was laughing so hard.

In the same scene, Grandma starts shaking her head and laughing when Kinn drags that guy off the bed all the way over to the window for no reason. I ask her what’s funny and she says “I don’t think he knows what windows are for” 💀

The Vegas/Porsche friendship montage got her GOING. She thought Vegas was gonna kidnap Porsche or something, and then it’s just Vegas wooing him instead which was apparently worse lol. “He shouldn’t hug men like this, it never ends well.” I was like “Grandma he hugged Kinn like that too” and she said “exactly!”

In that scene with Porsche waking Kinn up, when Kinn leaned in like he was gonna kiss Porsche Grandma’s eyes went SO BIG, she totally thought he was gonna go for it. I asked her if she thought they should’ve kissed and she said “well it couldn’t make things worse could it?” Which, okay, point lol

She loved the little scenes with Porsche and Chay together, she said it reminded her of her and her older sisters (they both died before I was born, but I’ve heard a ton of stories about them from her).

Y’all I think she’s a Kinn anti 😂 she can’t stand him right now, he’s gonna have to really redeem himself for letting Porsche get beat up. I asked her who she wanted Porsche to end up with and she said Pete seems nice (“after he wipes that baby powder off”) so congrats PetePorsche lovers you got another one

Next up, Grandma watches Kinn and Porsche go fishing and try bondage 🤙🏻

Kinn Doubts His Father

I apologize to Mile for the wonky second pic, but I was screenshotting as I watched & didn't really pause to make sure the pictures were decent 😂 (edit: found it gifed by @daikunart). But with this whole scene, and with that whole conversation he just heard between his dad and his uncle, I refuse to believe Kinn didn't feel something was completely off about what his dad was saying, and the fact that he changed his story, like, what? 3-4 times? Kinn has already proven himself to be wiser than he lets on, to recognize when something isn't right. Ex: Tawan reappearing at a time when they have a mole running around and Kinn's found someone new, he suspected Tawan was sent by Vegas; When Vegas texted that Pete was at his grandma's, Kinn felt something was off and called grandma to confirm.

Now, Porsche killing Korn for real would have opened up a can of worms bigger than the one they were in. Firstly, he's Kinn's dad, and despite everything (making Kinn the heir when he doesn't want to be; directing Kinn's moves/actions even if Kinn isn't on board with them, etc.), Kinn loves his dad.

But lets assume Kinn is more forgiving than that. Imagine Porsche kills Korn and KinnPorsche forge on with their relationship: all the guards loyal to Korn wouldn't stand for it. Kim & Khun wouldn't stand for it.

So with these words, Kinn's hard stare, and the deliberately tight shake of his head (captured wonderfully in gif form by @dingyuxi), I feel like he's telling Porsche, "I see it [the lies] too. I hear it too. But it's not worth it, and I'M still on YOUR side, too." When Kinn first steps in front of the gun, Porsche looks at him pleadingly, as if silently asking him to please get out of the way, to not make this hard on him, to let him have this moment of retribution. At first, Kinn says, "Don't", then Korn breaks out into an explanation about how he did this for the sake of his "nephew". But with those words fall on deaf ears. Kinn says the lines above like he didn't even hear Korn. Like he knows Korn's words are meaningless to Porsche at this point, and meaningless to him, too. Upon hearing that, Porsche begins putting his gun down.

And this shot right here I feel reinforces Kinn's doubts in/about his father. Vegas is pointing a gun at Korn. Pete, despite wanting to protect Vegas, remains loyal to the brand he wears and aims a gun at Vegas.  Kinn, on the other hand, looks up at his father with doubt, then shakes his head as if saying, "You brought this on yourself. My hands are tied." He doesn't believe in his father's words enough to justify Korn's actions. He's not turning turning against his father by any means, but he remains on the ground with Porsche and Nam. I mean, I expected him to stand up, shout at Vegas, maybe even try to jump in front of his father like he did for Porsche twice, for god's sake, but no. He says and does nothing, just looks disappointed. I urge you to rewatch this moment and note Kinn's full reaction. The only truth to him is his love for Porsche and Porsche's love for him.

i keep seeing people call porsche a bad friend and brother and its so frustrating because like you said, no one is telling him anything! plus its ignoring the literal plot we all saw, he was in the room with kinn when he called pete's grandma so why would he think anything different? he had that talk with his brother by the pool and reaffirmed that he was there for him and would still take care of him, he cant force him to talk about his love life? i just dont get it

You know, maybe Porsche is watching the Thai BL "Kinnporsche", along with us. He must have an iQIYI subscription. He must be up-to-date on Vegaspete's developing arc. He must have seen when Kim pulled out of Chay's grasp.

That must be it.

Kinnporsche Rewatch - Episode 13

Summary: Local family’s burnt offering leads to zombie resurrection. 

Favorite Line: “I was blinded by the adults, just like you.”

Porsche’s Wacky Antics: Calls Korn Dad (???? wtf). Climbs Kinn like a tree when Pete returns because he’s scared Pete’s a ghost. Carefully pokes at Pete to make sure he is real. Punches Vegas once for Tawan, and once for Pete. Makes Porchay pack up and leave the Main Family house. Again.

Why is Chay crying? He blocks Kim: best decision he’s made in a while.

Woe is Big: Oh Danny Booooy, the pipes, the pipes are caaallling… Pete’s getting a funeral and he’s not even dead! Poor Big.

Tankhun Highlight: He’s checked, and Pete DID NOT GO HOME, YOU SHITHEADS. He sends Arm, Pol, and Yok to keep Pete company in the afterlife. He’d go himself but he’s busy. Hugs Pete even though he thinks he’s a zombie. Tries to go after Porsche and Porchay because they’re Baby Brothers now, & Tankhun is the greatest man alive.

A Woman Speaks: The cardboard Yok doll smiles but says nothing.

What’s Pete eating, and who prepared it for him? Vegas lovingly prepares Khua Kling & Moo Hong for him, but he doesn’t get to eat it because Gun ruins everything. Vegas brings Pete noodles again instead, because he’s still gotta feed Pete even if it’s not what he’d planned to give him (hmmmm). The noodles end up on the floor because the two of them are at an impasse, and no one eats. Later, Vegas prepares TWO servings of food, hoping Pete will come back. But he doesn���t and Vegas is abandoned again. Pete’s got noodles but how can he eat by himself, unfettered and unkept? How can he look after himself now when he’s had a taste of being held, being fed?

Vegas Report: He’s a happy boy! Just watching cooking shows and making a special treat for his chained-up-boo. He coughs at the spice coming off the pan and I’m having visions of the future when they visit Grandma and Vegas’ head explodes from the spice in her cooking. Gods damnit here’s Gun again to remind Vegas of his place, and according to him it’s not in the kitchen (WRONG). Vegas is stupid just like his mom and shouldn’t be Gun’s son at all. Gun is a one trick pony and has too few holes in his head. Vegas tries to stand up to him for the first time ever and I am proud of him, until it leads to threatening Pete. Vegas that is not an effective wooing strategy. Later he joins forces with Porsche, and once again, if we are granted a second season I expect the two of them to spare no action to dismantle the entire organization down to the foundations. (What other choice do they have? Neither of them will be willingly subject to Korn.) ANYWAY. All he wants from Porsche in return is a chance to talk to Pete. He’s wearing green when he and Porsche go to meet Thee. I am pleased.

Shipping Activities

KinnPorsche: They’re back at the compound and great news: they’re letting go of the past and starting over. Kinn is very excited and Porsche is visibly uncomfy. Cigarette euphemisms. Kinn can tell something is up but Porsche won’t talk to him. They visit Porsche’s parents’ grave and dish out their embarrassing dating stories. Later when they’re in The Pool, I’m reminded of the absolutely electric way they kiss and touch each other, how they cling to each other. For real they are so great together. Porsche knows it’s a goodbye, even if a temporary one, but he’s got to go find answers.

VegasPete: They’re holding hands but Pete is back in handcuffs & it feels like such a defeat to me. Don’t call Pete good, Vegas – being good doesn’t matter. Embracing who you are and living it is what matters. When Vegas calls him a fool, Pete pulls away. Vegas snuggles in closer so he can touch Pete’s face and coax him back. But. Pete’s trying to convince himself he doesn’t feel what he’s feeling for Vegas, touching where his earlier wounds are still healing. Slaps himself just like he stopped Vegas from doing before. He’s trapped, and so is Vegas. Pete knows what being free feels like now, and Vegas putting the chains back on him after what they shared – it’s the last straw.  After Gun reminds Vegas of his place, Vegas tries to put Pete back in a place not of his choosing. If Pete doesn’t get to decide, if he’s not an equal here, then he will not do this. Death is better than not being real. He’s hollow, empty, he doesn’t exist. He’s fucking heartbroken. And that does it. Vegas is sorry! He gives up, Pete, he gives up, and he’s sorry! But sorry fixes nothing. Vegas doesn’t know how to deserve this fragile thing between them on his own merits. GOD, THE FACE TOUCHING. Pete’s sorry too. But that’s it. Once Pete is back at the Main Family house he puts his smile back on. It doesn’t slide into place very easily now. Vegas offers Pete a light at Yok’s bar, an echo of the same with Porsche. Except this time he’s not playing, and they’re both too devastated to even stand up. Pete sobs in his arms, reaches for Vegas’ face, they press their foreheads together and I CANNOT HANDLE IT. Vegas is sorry, he’s sorry and he wants it to matter. Pete can’t hurt him and Vegas absolutely knows why. They’re two jagged halves of a whole but they haven’t figured out how to make themselves fit in a way that won’t damage. Will I scream from here to eternity? Seems inevitable. I am out of wit and pithy comments. I am a mess, a puddle, a goop.

Do I care about KimChay yet? No. Kim’s wearing a shirt that says ‘human’ just so we have a solid reminder, & he’s reminiscing over pictures & memories while Chay is being the grownup in this situation.

Kisses: Vegas and Pete at various heart-wrenching moments I’m still crying over and will be for the foreseeable future. Kinn and Porsche cheek kisses at the Kittisawat parents’ grave & lots of kissing in the pool.

Tits Out: Kinn and Porsche in the infinity pool, fucking for everyone in the mortgage department of Deutche Bank to witness.

What’s Gun wearing? Tan & red plaid suit, red/possibly purple patterned shirt, cream/gold/black & white striped scarf, & his favorite dark loafers.

Serious Observations of Various Sorts: Pete’s hand injuries from grabbing Vegas’ knife miraculously heal by nightfall & it’s the one thing on this show I cannot immediately brush off & let go. Hand injuries are serious! He bled all over his shirt! He doesn’t even have a bandaid. Tong is the finest actor in history; Pete’s funeral is even funnier the second time watching.

Have I calmed down? I am sobbing into my tea. I am howling like a banshee.
