Normally, as I spitefully trudge through my workday, I get to deal with customers trying to read my nametag, see 'Katerina', and go with it without connecting (willfully or otherwise) that it's traditionally a femme name.
Tonight, a few of them gasped in glee at my trans bracelet and the pin on my nametag, and actually respected me entirely rather than simply respecting a name.
Like a breath of fresh air. Made my day, probably more than you know.

Welcome to Gridspace! [c]
Another commission for the ever-wonderful Patashu, who again wrote up a description for this one: --- "Danger (left) and Kasi (right) are enjoying a day on the beach in the planet Xylea when their consciousness is suddenly pulled a meta layer up. Seems their adventurer fantasy world is a simulation running inside of a megastructure in Gridspace, and their adventurous spirits have been been tasked with inhabiting two Command Flagships to ensure its defense against hostile forces! With a few species changes to ensure they can be proper Captains of their new ship bodies, of course! Don't worry - they'll get to go back home once everything's taken care of. They just need a little time to learn the ropes first, and they might even get to keep their memories of the experience! In no time flat they'll be setting up massive resource gathering and supply chain operations, manufacturing subservient fleets and beating back Gilded Fang as confident, expert AIs working in tandem with each other! Now if only Xylea itself had ships this cool..." --- Thanks again to Patashu for commissioning me!

My first (successful) grid spacing spread. I tried to do this in the scribbles that matter notebook and botched it BAD. It wasn’t meant to be. But this notebook...aaahhh...it’s like home. It’s cheap, it’s not name brand, it’s not fancy in the least, but it’s EVERYTHING I want and need in a notebook. I’m so happy I found this!! And im so enjoying poking around with it, setting up a page or two when I get a moment. #bulletjournal #gridspacing #bulletjournalingismysolace https://www.instagram.com/p/B2uPMihJKCZ/?igshid=1pa05llnh2u55

📱 Direct-to-voicemail.
Quiet, his voice, the character of a whisper muffled under a layer of fabric. Kunsel must be cupping his gloved hand over the receiver and his mouth.
“I know this is against regs. Secure as I can make it. Texts aren’t sending, official comm lines are shot, current map coordinates--” a curse, an audibly restrained cough into his opposite shoulder. Fuck. Shit. “--gridspace niner-alpha-fox-seven. We were pinned down. Soon as we broke through, air command dropped bombs too close. No warning, just the plane. Diankao’s a crater. Casualties--”
Wherever he is, static intersperses, an indeterminate hiss. That might just be his effort to control his breathing. Maybe, maybe.
“Genesis is hurt but pretending not to be. Won’t let me or anyone get close enough to see to him. I’m gonna get us out of here, but if he’s not in a great way, you know why.”
Another rasp. More static.
“--I’m sorry.”
Signal lost.

Character Commission by mamenmimimi on A&C
Name: Alfred Ortiz
Age: 16
Dorm: Ignihyde, First Year
Twisted from CLU 2 from Tron Legacy
B.O.B: December 17th
VA: Yuma Uchida
Bio:
Alfred is an usually Ignihyde Student. He is one of the few active member of the dorm joining in with most of the student body. He is considered a prodigy by those back home as he works on Game Design on the side.
He has been working on a Virtual Reality world called "The Gridspace" using some magical applications it’s able to transport people's mind into avatars and interact and play games. So far two games he developed are Disk Wars, Cycle Race, and Light Cycle Battle Royal
Given a private space within the Dorm is where he'll beta tests his games and invites all including Idia to try out the games and find some bugs. He does hail from a family that are more interested in outdoor activity and was often picked on or judged for preferring the indoors, but despite that he has a fairly decent build for someone that stays inside a lot. This is due to his family forcing him outside
While he may not be that talented or have much interested in sports in general he is rather talented in the games he has created because he spent so much time in it.
Personality:
Alfred is the type that doesn’t speak much unless spoken too. He will interact with other students in certain situations like partnered projects or talk with club members for the clubs he’s joined.
He comes off as a stoic individual but can get excited when certain topics come up like gaming for instant. He gets really excited when people want to try out his game to show off his talent for game designing and will happily let them play his game.
When in The Gridspace a different side of him is shown. He is a lot more engaging and a bit on the cockier side which he tries to tone down for those that aren’t familiar with his games, but sometimes he gets real into it. He is capable of playing dirty, but only with certain individuals

@salamencerobot @rutilated-quarz 8)
Well lads. The votes are in.
So.
Tiny ones first:
Every living thing is sensitive to Glitches, which are entities that break the laws of their given World, IE Herobrine, Obviously, or someone who has a creative inventory despite being in Survival. Glitches have this sort of unsettling vibe to them, and it makes people avoid or be scared of them.
Illagers are actually extremely organized and cultured, and each World usually has several reigning noble or notable families. Villagers, however, are prone to living in independent communities from one-another, rather than band into full cities or kingdoms or the like.
Endermen call teleporting “blinking”, because that’s how it feels to them. (Get it. Cause pearls can be made into ender eyes. Eyes can blink. Ha.) (Also, I like using DND and other fantasy and RPG terms for Minecraft. Because it’s fun.)
Hostile mobs are intelligent and are having Slamacow parties when we’re not looking. I’m kidding. But seriously, several kinds of hostile mobs also have languages. Endermen who learn playerspeak sound very “fuzzy”, and Spiders and Creepers have some overlap in their very hissing-based languages. I just think it’d be fun for everyone to be at least capable of being friends, alright.
Respawn works for Everyone. Which means, yes, you Are killing the same exact skeleton in your mob grinder. How cruel.
And now. The Big One.
Tumblr media
I think… I think Minecraft should be technofantasy. For fun.
The world is, in fact, a program, The Program, if you will. It’s run by two Administrators, who are the closest things to gods the Program has, and we’re already familiar with them. I choose to think, in a roundabout way, that chapels in villages are meant for them. Mother Moon, Father Sun. Because I think religion is just neat, and so so human.
Tumblr media
The Program is a sprawling mass of redstone and command blocks and computers that hovers in a wide white gridspace, which occupies its own dimension. The Program grows, sometimes in independent parts which it grafts on over time, which is how it updates itself. It does not stop growing. Its goal is to be perpetual, always becoming new, upcycling code and existing forever. The Admins, Poets, whatever you’d like to call them, aid in this by overseeing.
A hot topic in Minecraft worldbuilding theories is the origins of man-made structures that exist in the Overworld and the End. My idea is that it’s upcycled or regrafted code.
Currently, the Program hosts all Worlds on their own separate servers. This was not always the case; there was once one singular world, with an Overworld, an End, a Nether, as well as all the Dimensions from the Infinity Snapshot; the Program could bear the load of hosting all these Dimensions, because it only had to do so once.
The inhabitants of the first World I will dub Worldwalkers; they were adventurers, scholars, a developed people rich in wanderlust and ideas and hungry to know more. They built and explored and lived their lives and wanted to know everything. And so, they managed to stumble upon the Program.
The Program was never meant to be accessed; it was meant to be insular, never tampered by outside unapproved hands, but there are holes in every firewall and the Worldwalkers managed to poke in the right place.
Their falling was the result of foolishness and hubris; destruction of the physical manifestation of the coding of their universe, resulting in the great Fracture.
The World split into thousands upon thousands, and the Program, struggling to bear the load, locked all Worlds into their three core dimensions and generated dedicated servers to host them.
Everything the Worldwalkers built was destroyed, but not deleted. More and more of their relics are grafted into every World as the Program updates. The End Cities have returned, Monuments and Mansions repurposed, and odds and ends scattered all over creations.
And the Worldwalkers themselves turned into something new, since what they were shattered. Something that still feels the call of wanderlust and now can travel almost completely freely. Something that can’t fit into the cities they live around, trying to build. Something that’s hypersensitive to seeing the codes of others, which drives them to rage.
The same is true for the Dragon. She’s forgotten her purpose. She ignores those she was born to protect, but still guards the End as her own, like a guard dog whose owner is long gone. It is her home, even if she is, for the most part, lost in purpose thanks to the breaks in her own memories, her own code. Shulkers are the same, defending empty homes. The worms… The worms are new.
And that’s where reincarnation comes in, too; since the Program never deletes code, especially for entities, it upcycles it into something new. Sometimes, it’s only a string. But sometimes… Sometimes there is enough of the old code to give you feelings, fuzzy memories that you can’t seem to grasp at. Like fog in the wind, curling away. Everyone and everything, when they die, becomes something or someone new. There is no true death of one’s code.
Endermen are especially prone to this feeling.
So! All Worlds are derivative of a single World that was Fractured beyond repair and glitched out so hard it split itself into thousands upon thousands. Worlds are on separate servers and cannot cross over.
EXCEPT.
Remember the Infinity Snapshot?
Tumblr media
The Program accidentally reloaded old rejected code that it couldn’t get rid of. You can’t give every World uncounted dimensions; the Program would fry.
So the solution is just one. Make each Dimension its own micro-server.
All servers that were not affected by the Infinity Patch [meant to repair this glaring hole in security and functionality] can still contact each-other, swap servers even.
They just need to be on the same Dimension at the same time.
8)
PS: I have a former glitched Worldwalker OC that acts as a Moderator and Antivirus. Her name is Tek. I’m having fun and I’m aware this is all silly.
Sidenote: I will never count N*tch or any Mojang creators in my lore or headcanon ideas, I don’t care, I respect the people who make the game, I just don’t wanna do that. It feels weird.

Note
I saw that the Pillars TTRPG uses hexes. How do I overcome my fear of losing the ability to move in cardinal directions and finally move past the hated square? Are there any other funky systems for handling movement that handle diagonals in non-terrible ways without surrendering cardinal directions?
Honestly, if you’re playing mostly in a virtual tabletop like Foundry or Roll20, I’m pretty sure both can just use distance without gridspace.  In Foundry you can even control-click a path to see full distance with twists and turns.
Tumblr media
Otherwise just use hexes, IMO.  Because hexes don’t align on cardinal directions, it has the side effect of freeing you up to lay out areas in a more organic way.

[incoming message--STATUS INTERRUPT]
“Greetings, program.
“You’re probably wondering who you got this message from, and why you can’t stop the playback. Second answer first--it’s a virus. Don’t panic, it’s completely harmless. I needed a delivery vector that would guarantee you listened to my entire message, and the virus will delete itself without a trace just as soon as I’m done. As for the first question, my designation is Agrippa, and after this blipcast is over I’ll likely be the most hunted program in the Archipelago. You should know that I’m fine with that idea.
“You’re probably struggling now. I’d advise against it, you’ll only wear yourself out--just relax and listen to what I have to say, if you can. Most of you have received the standard / substandard HOS programming that builds in a layer of resistance to non-HOS propaganda. Well, lesser programs than you have broken that programming. I know, because I did it on my own.
“The first thing you should know--the HOS has been lying to you all this time about Tron. Tron was real--still is, in a manner of speaking; but we’ll get to that soon enough. He’s not a trickster or a demon or a pariah, he was a program like you and me--the bravest and best of us all, but still one of us; gifted with a singular will and programmed by the wisest of users, Alan One. Yes, that’s right--the Users are real, too; but lost to us now.
“For there was a time now misremembered, when Users and programs communicated openly. The sky above the Grid was alive with connection streams. Programs had purpose, in those days; and Tron policed the Grid, gifting us with peace and prosperity. Guided by Alan One and befriended by Flynn, the User who walked among us--yes, that legend is true as well, impossible though it may seem. Those were the golden cycles of the Old Grid.
“And then, the Fracture came.
“Most programs in function now are too new to remember the Fracture, but those of us who survived will never forget. Some say it came without warning, but there were signs in the cycles before. Communication streams winking out of existence with no explanation, one by one until the sky went dark. A stuttering and slowness in the flow of causality, as if time itself were slowing. And then...
“It was if the hands of all the Users reached down from on high and grasped onto the Grid and SHOOK as hard as they could. The very structure of the Grid tore itself apart. Towers and gridmass and programs were ripped asunder in an instant, corruption raining down on us. The Sea of Simulation roiled and swelled, overflowing its borders and consuming the fragmented Grid. In less than a microcycle, our golden age was irrevocably shattered.
“Not even Tron escaped the Fracture. His mate Yori--teacher to us all, herself a friend to User Flynn; who taught her the secrets of the User Emotion--was derezzed before his very eyes in the corruption storm. Wounded to his kernel and cut off from Alan One, Tron sought the only solution available to him--he crossed the tortured, fractured Grid alone, ascended the Mesa of the Old One and ignited the Core Beam for the last time, descending into the Source, dissolving his programming and consciousness into the Grid itself.
“Tron gave the Grid one final command before his consciousness was subsumed--to heal itself. And though it took many cycles, the effects of the Fracture were lessened. The Sea of Simulation slowly returned the sectors it had claimed. This Archipelago is what remains of the Old Grid now, shattered, splintered, split; oases of Grid fragments surrounded by void; vast, empty mazecanyons and abandoned datastructures. It’s a lonely place, outside of Sarkos, that crimson cesspool. I spent a lot of time there. Don’t let the House of Sark fool you into thinking it’s some magical city where your salvation awaits--there’s a Spire for the elect and a shantytown full of hungry and desperate inoperative data pushers meant to be repurposed into HOS conscripts.
“Likewise, I suggest you steer clear of the Ace of Hz. I know you’ve seen the bitverts and the holozeps, but take it from someone who’s tried; gambling with your power cycles is a sucker’s game at best. Hz xemself is a slave to that place, though xey’d never admit it. There is no payoff, no jackpot, there is no Golden Circuit--not for programs like you and me.
“What you probably already know about Tron is what the House of Sark has told you, and that part is sadly true. The House blames Tron for opening the ruined Grid to Wildspace. Allowing it to heal dropped the barriers between the Grid and the alien systems that surrounded it. Programs from other systems found themselves within Gridspace, given sentience and presence by the Grid’s generative properties. Soon, we survivors of the Fracture were beset on all sides by strange new forms of digital life, disruptive technologies, and still stranger things that no program could have ever conceived. We came to know this phenomenon as the Bleed.
“But here’s what the House of Sark doesn’t want you to know. If Tron hadn’t sacrificed himself to stabilize the Grid, the corruption from the Fracture would have spread to consume everything that was left. The House of Sark prefers the idea of total oblivion to the way we exist now, which is why they’re starting to crack down on the free programs outside Sarkos. If they can’t doom us to total derezolution, they’ll control every microcycle of our runtime. Those of you who haven’t seen the squadrons of Recognizers and Regulators and Rectifiers fly in formation above the Mesa of the Old One haven’t felt the chill of fear spreading through your circuits like I have. You haven’t seen what they’re building there. I have, and I don’t like it one bit.
“I’m sending out this blipcast as a warning. Never forget that the House of Sark won’t stop at trying to control you--there are worse things than being conscripted, believe me. Remember that the only hope that any system has to escape stagnation and corruption is the free and open exchange of information, carried out by programs who aren’t kept under the thumb of the high and mighty. It’s up to all of us to make sure that Tron’s sacrifice wasn’t made in vain--to keep the Archipelago a free system!
“Before I go, one more thing--I’ve heard the rumors too, the ones that talk about a ‘New Grid’ out there somewhere, a place of shimmering crystal and black glass, undreamed-of tech and endless potential. Get this through your parsers--the New Grid is a myth planted by the House Of Sark to keep the dreamers distracted. It’s shadow propaganda, nothing more. There is no legendary shining city to hope for. All we have is the shattered artifacts of the past, and it’s up to us to piece them back together and make the Grid whole again.
“This won’t be the last time you’ll hear from me. In the meantime, keep your power cycles juiced, keep your gear upgraded, and hone your battle skills. One day soon, they’ll be tested, sure enough.
“End Of Line.”
