Growing Sideways by @inadaze22 Chp 17:
~~”And then they stood in the middle of her office, the long chain of the Time Turner draped over both their necks. They were standing close enough to touch, her eyes searched his for what felt like an eternity
"Are you ready?" she asked in a tone only he could hear.
"Yes."”~~
Here. We. Goooooooo

Noah Kahan writes songs for the girls who allowed their passive anger to slowly fill up their entire existence until they went blind with it

when noah kahan said, “and i divvied up my anger into thirty separate parts, keep the bad shit in my liver, and the rest around my heart; i’m still angry at my parents for what their parents did to them, but it’s a start” i felt that. i’m a sucker for a judas reference

Why would Noah Kahan write the lyrics "I'm still angry at my parents for what their parents did to them"?? Like why would he do that to me, that's so fucked up.

jackie and wilson by hozier and growing sideways by noah kahan are two of my favorite songs because their themes are so similar:
'Cause with my mid-youth crisis all said and done
I need to be youthfully felt 'cause, God, I never felt young
- Jackie and Wilson
But I ignore things, and I move sideways
Until I forget what I felt in the first place
At the end of the day I know there are worse ways
To stay alive
- Growing Sideways
they are songs about the inability to feel careless and free, like a child should. they both mourn the loss of innocent ignorance, as if they were forced to be emotionally mature before they were ready.
although, they provide two different perspectives on the same tragedy.
jackie and wilson reclaims the carefree nature that the subject deserves:
Lord, it'd be great to find a place we could escape sometime
- Jackie and Wilson
growing sideways reveals the life of the subject that resigns to their fate of emotional burnout:
Oh, if my engine works perfect on empty
I guess I'll drive
-Growing Sideways
maybe it’s the eldest daughter in me, but i think they’re onto something.
