Jean Baptiste Hugo announced as Guest of Honor at Barricades 2024

Barricades 2024 is pleased to announce Jean Baptiste Hugo as one of our Guests of Honor for this year's convention. Jean Baptiste Hugo is the great-great-grandson of Victor Hugo. He has extensively photographed Hugo's home in exile on Guernsey, a project about which he said this: “In 2014, I was about to start a series of photographs of Hauteville House, where Victor Hugo stayed in exile for 15 years. I had the intention, picturing in my mind the dark gothic rooms, to use the legendary black and white 400 Tri-X Kodak film, known for its grainy quality and its rich black tones. It just happened that around that same period I started looking into the extraordinary colour possibilities offered by digital photography, having considered it for years , I must admit, as very inferior to black and white film. The introduction I was given to digital colour photography inspired me enough to try and capture as faithfully as I could the colourful atmosphere of my ancestor’s folly on Guernsey and, I am glad I did, as it allowed me to engage in an exploration of colour and texture in a very creative way which I am still pursuing today through other photographic subjects.”

Nicholas Leung is an artist born and raised in New York City. He is best known for his role as Dan Heng in the Hoyoverse video game HONKAI STAR RAIL, as well as animes such as Bi in KINGDOM (SEASON 3). You can also hear him as the voice of Han Hee-seong in the Netflix live action film KILL BOKSOON. After growing up on a healthy diet of Guitar Hero, superhero films, and countless hours of Toonami, he’s thrilled to take that childhood love behind the mic and share his story with the world. He hopes to inspire others to do the same with their own.

King Phantoms monthly princess parties!

I saw fanart by @scrombit and now I wanna have Danny host princess tea parties at the keep for young ghosts.

Like, one day he’s walking though the keep, talking to Fright Knight about something or another and notices a young ghost hiding behind a pillar.

He sneaks up behind her and surprises her.

He says something along the lines of “and who is this little princess that has wandered into my lair?”

One of the maids runs up to grab her but Danny waves her away. He then asks the young ghost to tea “because you can’t have a proper tea party without a princess”

After awhile the ghost parents rush in trying not to offend the ghost king and he waves them off, being sure to invite the little ghost back anytime for more tea.

Next time she shows up she has a friend. Every time she comes she brings more little girls and boys to their tea parties.

It gets to the point that Fright Knight has barred any guests from interrupting their monthly tea party.

I really wanna incorporate this into one of my fics or make a one shot where someone is trying to summon the ghost king and he pops into existence in full regalia but wearing a princess crown and half his claws are painted pink and green.
