well, gwen stops him, but he wanted to see gwens face one last time. he wanted to see his best friend. but gwen was so scared that if he took the mask off she’d never be able to put it back on. she kept pretending even though he knew- and he knew that she knew that he knew.

she kept being spider woman because gwen stacy was scared and vulnerable- and she didnt want peter to die with that memory of her.

Character designs for Gwendolyn Stacy :)

Designs go from happy (Peter still alive era), to angry/angsty (she lost her best friend) to very sad. I kept her athletic in all three versions since she is a ballerina and this is what a strong ballerina would look like.

Remember that moment in ITSV, when Miles first meets his world's Spider-Man and their spider senses do the thing?

The background behind Peter is as we'd expect; the classic red and blue.

But at first Miles' background is green and purple, two colors he's never associated with at all throughout the movie. As the moment goes on, it shifts to match Peter's.

We are literally watching Miles' fate change and the anomaly happen.

It's well established that the spider that bit him was not supposed to even be in that universe, meaning our Miles was supposed to be something else before it happened.

This isn't true for ITSV, but in every other version of Spider-Man, the main color scheme for the Prowler is green and purple.

Our Miles was supposed to become the next Prowler in his world. And the only reason he's not, is because of the original Prowler. Miles switched his fate with Earth-42 Miles.

y'know, at first i was a bit disappointed they didn't change gwen's haircut for atsv because i thought that she would look cool with something new since her shaved side would be grown out... but then her hair was used perfectly to express her identity, specifically as a trans person.

throughout the movie, gwen struggles with feeling like she's not being true to herself, and says that it feels like her dad only know HALF of her. meanwhile, gwen's hair looks like this and if you spit a picture of her down the middle then you get one side that looks more like a boy and one that looks more like a girl.

not only that, but when gwen was hiding and isolating herself from her dad, her hair turned blue — meaning her currently pink hair turned blue when she was lying about who she is.

and then when gwen does finally start trying to talk about her feelings and express who she really is inside, this is what happens.

not only does her hair (as well as her bedroom) look reminiscent of the trans pride flag, but she's also mainly turned towards the right in this scene, showing off the longer side of her hair...

anyways, gwen stacy is a trans woman and it couldn't be more obvious.

Some more Insomniac Spider-man universe character designs

It took me some time to finish them because I started 3 different characters at the same time right after finishing the game, but here they are!!

First up the G man!

The green goblin was hinted by Norman Osborn at the end as a way to "cure" Harry using what he called the "G serum"

Based on those words alone I decided to try and design what Harry would look like as the green goblin. I decided to make the G serum flow in his veins and slowly turn him into the Green Goblin from the inside. I gave him a color palette heavily inspired by previous iterations of the Goblin I have seen in various media. I also took into consideration the realistic -ish style of their current villains and came up with what you can see here:

My second design is the one and only Silk aka Cindy Moon

Cindy was introduced to the franchise at the very end of the game as a child or Rio Morales' new love interest. She appears to be around Miles' age (maybe younger) which I kept in mind during the design process. Her suit is inspired by the original Silk suit as well as by the suit miles wears at the end of the game. I think Cindy would look up to Miles in a similar way he looks up to Peter, so I wanted to create a little resemblance of that in her design. Since she is also pretty young I decided to make her everyday clothes very casual, which I think fits with a lot of the character designs present in the game already.

Last but not least everyone's favorite - Gwendolyn Stacy

Although Gwen was in no way hinted during the gameplay I have noticed in one of the cutscenes a blonde female playing the drums which jump-started my imagination. I tried imagining different versions of Gwen that could possibly appeared in the game. After finishing I settled on some guidelines. She would be around Peter's age, and they could have possibly met in the university or in the work field since in many versions of herself Gwen is also a scientist. I decided that *if* she had spider powers they would be artificial (like in one of my favorite iterations of Gwen from the cartoon Ultimate Spiderman) which she creates herself to fight crime. I thought she could possibly be Harry's lover interest in the Insomniac universe. Based on that I created two mugshots of what she could possibly look like.

In the end I have to admit that as a big fan of Spider-man the game was a very welcome inspiration at a time where I didn't really feel that well and was in a no mindset to concentrate on projects of my own. It actually helped me get out of the block and thanks to it I started writing a GDD for my year old game idea.
