“you shouldn't receive those spikes with your face” Bokuto Koutaro x fem! reader

a nice part 2 to Bokuto receiving a painful spike in the face.

the game had ended already and Y/n’s team had won with 2-0, leaving the captain of Fukurodani pouting since he couldn't participate with his bleeding nose. 

even though the girls won, they noticed their wing spiker zoning out during the match or glancing at the benched ace. it was already obvious to them, something had happened and it affected their ace.

of course after their break, the owl team requested one more match but was immediately rejected by both coaches. the rejection only caused Bokuto to go emo mode again. most of the girls chuckled at his childlike behaviour while their ace awkwardly glanced at Bokuto and only to avoid eye contact as soon as he looked back. 

“you havent been acting like usually, L/n” Yuna pointed out. Y/n sighed and shook her head. “hm? did something happen while you two were at the infirmary?” Rachel tilted her head to look at Y/n. she started fidgeting with her fingers, giving Rachel the answer she was looking for. “no way!” Rachel smiled and covered her mouth. “spill the tea sis!” Mari exclaimed catching everyones attention.

y/n looked away, slightly glancing at the other team before looking back at her teammates, who had now all gathered around her. “I only wanted to make up for spiking in his face... I guess I have a date now..” y/n mumbled the last part, hoping her team heard it well enough.

her team looked at her before breaking into smiles and cheers. “lucky~” Machiko teased. Y/n blushed and turned to face the floor instead. “hm? our badass ace is baby when it comes to boys?” Yuna teased and ruffled Y/n’s hair. “we’re not talking about some boy, we’re talking about the volleyball captain from Fukurodani.” Mari shook Y/n’s shoulders with wide eyes.

“stop saying that, it would be some sort of date no matter what.” Y/n bit her lip. she just said that. she was right though, one way or another it would be some kind of date. 

the group fell silent and y/n looked up. her team was staring straight back at the other volleyball team. they were looking at her, and their captain was covered in blush. they send her a smile and a thumbs up before pushing their captain her way.

she looked at her team, hoping they would stay, but along with the other team members from Fukurodani, they headed towards the other side of the gym. ‘shit’ Y/n mentally cursed. Bokuto looked half brain-fried already, who knows how this will end. bokuto stumbled while making his way towards the girl who was trying to avoid any type of eye contact. 

“eh.. hey” he sheepishly greeted. y/n gave him a smile despite feeling way too awkward. “hey Bokuto-san” she called him like she did before at the infirmary. they way she called his name caused his face to set ablaze again. the sight made y/n slightly chuckle and ease her own nerves. 

“how is your nose?” she asked him. Bokuto rubbed his nose. “luckily you didn't break it.” he smiled, widely. making Y/n’s heart skip a beat. compared to his usual personality, this Bokuto seemed much more gentle. y/n fidgeted with her fingers, something that seemed so familiar to Bokuto. “Akaashi does that too.” he blurted without realizing. Y/n stopped fidgeting with her fingers. “oh” she mumbled. 

“its cute” he admitted, which had Y/n’s checks burning up. “so about that date, we still planning that right?” he grew more comfortable around her as the  minutes passed. which made Y/n feel more confident.

“yeah, if you don't mind?” crossing her arms slightly, she waited for a response. “don't mind? I would still make you go on a date with me if you said no.” Bokuto admitted. since he had seen her on tv playing the nationals last year, he had been hoping to meet her one day. now he finally met her, he wanted nothing more but spend time with the girl he admired through a TV screen.

y/n blushed at his words. ‘he would make me go on a date with him even if I said no? cute.’ 

“i will make sure it will be the best date you have ever had, after all I am the best ace in Tokyo.” he smirked. which had Y/n laughing. “hmm yeah you’re right, receiving my spike with your face does make you the best ace ah?” she smiled.

“dont mention that!” he whined. “ well if the date goes well I won't mention it.” she smiled, brightly. Bokuto froze for a second. his heart thumped almost out of his chest at the sight of her bright smile. it had him smiling too, unconsciously.

“do you want to do this date before of after nationals? you’re playing too right?” y/n asked. bokuto nodded. “lets do one before and one after, deal?” Bokuto glanced at Y/n, hoping she would agree to a second date after nationals.

“sure.” she quickly answered hiding how flustered she was. after all he wanted a second date after nationals. “if we both win, we/re celebrating all right?” y/n smiled at his offer. she won last year, she hoped to win this year again. even more than last year.

“well, could you give me your number?” “so we can text of course! to- eh- for time and date for our dates-” a giggle escaped Y/n’s lips, she handed him her phone and took out his own. he saved his number on her phone and gave himself a call so he could save her number.

he handed her phone back. “we’ll keep in touch during the games.” y/n slightly smirked, “ we will win nationals for sure!” “ not if you receive spikes with you face.” yn said and quickly ran off to the other side of the court.
