Hair dying adventures below the cut

So, my roots had grown enough to finally have a sort of line between my regrowth and dyed blonde hair. If this was summer, sometimes my natural hair lightens so there wouldnt be a harsh line. But we are in winter so ToT

I tried to do highlights, figuring it'd break the harsh-ish straight line. I used 9.5 N blonde since its a little darker than my plainum ends but lighter than my 7-ish roots so I figured itd lighten the top a bit and darken or match the middle golder blonde for a more gradient looking result. I'll be real. I looked up tutorials, tried to do the babylight thing where you take a row of hair, weave up and down to pick highlight pieces, and then put dye on the pieces. Then continue down in rows on the sides and back of head. But once it was processing, it looked like my hair wasnt lightening at all (and the box dye I bought only lightens like up to 2 levels usually so i figured it might go to a 9 blonde on top so not As light as the lengths). So then i kept putting in more, thicker, highlights about 20 minutes into processing, and left on 40 min. Absolute chaos. I was figuring if i had done nothing, the highlights would be too weak to notice. And so either it was gonna Full All Over lighten cause i added so much later, or id get chunky streak highlights.

I think i got fairly lucky! It turned out slightly patchy but i think whatever dye job i do in like 4 months will probably get rid of any odd bits. And theres still a slight "line" i can see but its more blended looking on most of my hair, which was the goal.

the hairdye experiment fell a little flat tbh lol, didnt get as noticeable results as i would have wanted but maybe its better that its dark enough to be only visible in bright lighting. it makes it kinda special tbh

Any headcanons for your Swap Amity AU?

I actually have a few which I wouldn't exactly call headcanons, more so things that are technically canon in the AU.

TW: References to homophobia

The Blight family is a very conservative one that doesn't really allow things like hairdying. Nonetheless, Odalia bleaches Amity's hair, both to be "colour coordinated" with her siblings, and also because Odalia wants her to be exactly like her, even in terms of appearance.

In a similar vein, Amity wished she could do something interesting with her hair, which she later does after staying in the Boiling Isles, upon deciding to stand up for herself and not tolerate her mother's horseshit.

Amity is a lesbian yet has only come out to her siblings because she's scared her parents, especially Odalia, would kick her out of the house at best.

Amity also likes to draw and read the Good Witch Azura series, but Odalia saw her hobbies as stupid and forced her to go Reality Check Summer Camp, so she would get her head straight and start focusing more on her duties as a Blight.

they either get really high and eat so much food and then lay around being exsistential together or they do face masks, pampering, nails (hair dying on the rare occasion*) and put on a really sad movie (so they can cry) and then a romcom (so they can be happy and also make fun of it a little bit bc. its a romcom, u gotta) in that order. they always have popcorn and its always sweet and salty

they once tried combinding both of the ideas together and it went hilariously wrong and theyve never done that since

* the two of them both sometimes get really in their own heads about not being their own person, the hair dye helps them feel more like not their counterpart (they usually only use semi permenant nowadays, its easier to get out of the hair and also all of the furniture and clothes. (the first time of hairdying went So Very Very Wrong and it was a permenant dye))
