When I was a child until I was about 16 I didn't know that the mom in hairspray wasn't actually a woman and was just John Travolta

As I was falling down the rabbit hole of hashtags, @eosphoroz pointed out that the series’ time shift would affect the Théâtre des Vampires setting, placing it in the 60’s or so.
I’m having visions of Louis surrounded by beatniks, hippies, black turtlenecks with berets, go-go boots, and beehive hair. Think John Waters’ Hairspray (1988) …or Austin Powers
I’m DYING! 😂😂💀

I relate so much to Pen and that whispered what? after Colin's words in the carriage. The man of her dreams is telling her what she probably dreamed about every time, every night, yet she doesn't want to believe it. She can't! How could a dream come true? Please, don't say things you don't mean, is so real. We wallflowers are so used to being ignored; so used to always observing and never experiencing or feeling, that even in front of a real, concrete gesture of love, we still believe we don't deserve it. This is probably one of the sweetest and truest moment I've ever seen and I will treasure it forever. I wish I had had a character like Penelope to become attached to during my adolescence. When I thought I would never experience the joy of being loved, cherished and simply seen.

keeping the section "shit that is not done/not will be done probably" this is one of the ones that excites me the most. If I was a stronger artist I will love to keep this proyect.
This is a crossover between Bob's Burgers and one of my favorite musicals Hairspray. But not exactly. After seeing the movie like for a million time I start listening "I Can Hear the Bells" (love this song) and start thinking this is a song that Tina would definitely sing to Jimmy Jr. And boom my sick brain did the rest.
I really love this concept but because is me for sure Im not gonna commit to such big proyect. So here some scketches and character design I made.

some of the reference, believe me I have a hold pinterst board full of 60's stuff this is just a small part.

and the early blobs, yeah horrible
If you haven't see the movie I surely recommend it and go see the video and just imagine Tina signing to Jimmy Jr

Hairspray (1988) directed by John Waters. Harris Glenn Milstead, better known as Divine, was an American actor, singer and drag queen. He primarily worked with fellow Baltimorean and independent filmmaker John Waters. Milstead primarily played female roles in cinematic and theatrical productions, and used a female drag persona in his music career. He died on March 7th 1988, three weeks after the release of his final film Hairspray. Hairspray received generally good reviews and was considered by many to be Waters most "accessible" films to date. Milstead received particular praise with many critics saying that it could mark his breakthrough into mainstream cinema.
Waters wrote that his all-time favorite review of Hairspray was David Edelstein's in Rolling Stone: "A family movie both the Bradys and the Mansons could adore"
